Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

A little OT, but I was suddenly struck by how people act like they don't have a cell phone in their hands at all times.  For example, rather than Belle simply calling her parents she went over there to ask them in person where Claire was.  If you were really concerned about her, wouldn't you want to know she was OK ASAP?

Same, with Nicole.  Rather than call Rafe she went to the PD in person.  I could (sort of) understand if she went there after not being able to get in touch with Rafe - even though she SHOULD assume he's - I don't know - DOING HIS JOB and shouldn't be interrupted.

I get that the writers need to have people talk in person but they just seem to be going about it rather clumsily.

I think Raynor must be part of the evil cult that saw to the spawning of the Devil twins – or to call them by their real names little Chtulhu and baby Tsathoggua. She has now taken possession of them because they are needed for some dark rituals of theirs. Should be fascinating.

The test was probably technically correct. It's Kayla's interpretation of it and her dscription of the results, like the vague "you share DNA with the baby", that was so off the mark. Whereas a simple comparison to Steve's DNA would have shown if he is a grandparent; it's somehting any thorough "scientist", as Kayla likes to describe herself, would have done.

Yes, as I said before she it the doctor-of-all-trades in that hospital. Although we did see one or two staff people in the background yesterday. But it does not excuse her being written as doing a half-assed job just to carry the plot forward and to artificially extend the "who is the rapist?" pseudo-suspense.

I was thinking this morning that it would be nice if Days casted some offspring for Steve's old doctor friend Marcus who could come to town as doctors following in their dad's footsteps (a nice tribute to the character since the actor passed away), and finally relieve Kayla of being the jack of every specialty.  It's getting a little ridiculous. Especially since I don't think Sarah has worked a shift since before Christmas.  It was really silly that Ava got admitted to a regular room without any blood work having even been drawn yet alone come back to determine for sure whether she was drugged or having a breakdown. Big difference in treatment on whether you need to flush her system or call for a psych consult and admit to the psych floor. In the real world, you're still sitting in the ER till the blood work comes back, delusions or not.

From the TV Guide listings, there does not appear to be an episode scheduled for next Wed due to the US Inauguration of President Biden. So the 20th is likely a planned preemption.  Other than that, sadly it's hard to tell from one day to the next what's going to happen in the US anymore. I breathed a sigh of relief we got through Monday and Tuesday this week w/out an interruptions.

The last time I tried to watch on Peacock, I think it was up by the evening.  I wonder if they'll upload it sooner since they had to have known they likely weren't going to air in much, if in any part, of the US and they're not doing any "pre-empting" anymore unless it has been planned in event like inaugurations and sports events.

Some stations might also air it overnight--like at 2 a.m.  Check your local affiliate's Twitter and they might announce it there.  Mine does.

Julie came busting in to cook Lani and Eli her MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER SOUP, and while Lani and Eli were making a list of who could potentially hate them enough to seek revenge (do they want that list alphabetically, chronologically, or what?) and Vivian was at the top of the list, Julie of course immediately FIGURES OUT SHE KNOWS WHO IT IS! *dramatic pause* GABI. After a 5 second phone call to Will, Julie learns that Gabi has been in Arizona with Ari this whole time. So then she just drops it.

I already have my tivo set to record for like 2 hours in late night since that was the only time it was airing there for awhile back whenever one of the 2020 events (who knows which one lol) was going on. They didn't air it then when it was preempted last week though for some reason.

I had the same thought. No filter and no social skills, perhaps. But she wasn't never stupid. In fact, I would argue she would immediately catch on that something was off and tell Justin, not wait for Justin to prompt her.

On today's show someone said that Vivian couldn't be the kidnapper because she died at the police station. I somehow do not remember this at all. Does anyone recall how she supposedly died?

Yes this was after Jake found out he was Stefan's twin. Vivian was escorted to jail but she faked her death with Ivan's help because she had someone on the inside help her. Kate/Jake were there to pay their respects(and setting the ground for their relationship apparently) then afterwards we saw Vivian come out of the casket and left with Ivan. That was the perfect ending tbh I don't really need Vivian to return.

 

A bit of a UO I don't think its that absurd for Julie to believe Gabi did it I mean she does hate Eli/Lani, told everyone she knew how she couldn't have anymore children, and blames Lani for killing Stefan. Its not too much of a reach for people to suspect Gabi did this now everything else? Another story.

Lani and Eli's apartment still hasn't grown. Where are they going to put all the baby stuff?

No one has that huge of a list of people that hate them. Sometimes random folks do kidnap babies or whatever. Yes, Vivian is a suspect, and Salemites know that the dead may not be really dead and many have returned from the dead at inconvenient times. Having Gabi be the suspect is a bit of a stretch. She's been in Mexico for a while, blew in to Salem for a day or two and then went off to visit her daughter. She hasn't been around since and probably wouldn't organize anything like this. Yeah, Gabi does not let go and neither does Julie. If someone sneezed on her, she's probably blame Gabi. Why make a weird phone call to Will? Right, she's Julie.

Bonnie probably thought it was the nanny talking the babies for a walk. It is easy to not pay attention to things and she wouldn't be doing so. Just walking in the park. Nothing seemed too unusual. She only remembered because Justin brought up the news that she didn't watch.

Chad, you may have to fess up about the nanny.

I did like Jake's comment that someone mentioned. I laughed at that.

Poor Abs finding out from Gwen herself that she and Chad did the dirty. Well, if Gwen is telling the truth.

NBC app has them available after 8pm.  Could be 7pm but when I checked for the last episode that was preempted, it wasn't on around 6pm but it was there after 8.  

Loved it when Gwen's eyes teared up after Chad called her disgusting.  She's not a total robot bent on destroying Abigail and her family.  There is some pain associated with her revenge.  

Always happy to see another round of Jake vs. Gwen.  

In Julie's defense, Gabi was the only person I could think of who would hate Eli and Lani enough to kidnap their kids.  I'd forgotten about how much Vivian hates Lani.  It could be Orpheus if the writers wanted to twist reality in such a manner.  Wouldn't be the first time.  

Wait, what?  First Gwen tells Chad he needs to figure out how to convince Abigail to let her stay at the DiMera "Mansion" or she'll tell Abigail about their sexy time, then she tells Abigail about she had sex with Chad?

It happened super fast between scenes. Then we got one day of her in a casket, until it opened and she stepped out to run off with Ivan.

I *think* they said she had a heart attack at the cop shop...? I really stopped caring too much this past year. I was just happy see see Louise back.

I am enjoying watching Princess Abs' life implode but man, MM's look of pained betrayal was fabulously done--she is such a better actress then KM and I'm so glad it's Marci playing this storyline out.  I think this plot would also benefit from referencing that Chad and Abby got back together the first time when she cheated on Ben with Chad, just to show that her cheating behavior isn't something new.

Gwen is superb and I love how coldly she revealed the truth of Chad's cheating to Abby--her motive for revenge better be worth all of this drama.

I thought Billy Flynn did a good job with his scene at the end of the episode. He plays off MM far better than he does with KM. Now, as kitmerlot1213 said, let's just hope all this is worth it in the end.

I thought he has been good in this story except the tears at the end didn't work for me.  MM has been awesome, though.

Plus I want some character, anyone (I'm not picky), to point out how she was once the "Gwen" in Sami and Ej's relationship. Or in other words, the homewrecker.  Not so much fun when the roles are reversed, eh Abs?

I had that thought too, but then I remembered that Abs rarely raises her own kids and Gwen is now available, provided Brady doesn't snatch her up for Rachel.

I'm glad so many are catching onto this. It must happen. A friend of mine suggested an even more delicious add on to it; it actually wasn't even Abigail that did the cutting in line and Gwen just mixed her up with someone else lol. Come on, Ron, give me this one thing!

The Gwen/Abigail, Gwen/Jake, and Abigail/Chad scenes were fucking awesome. I just love Gwen so much. And MM really is knocking this out of the park. Although, a part of me wishes it was KM because I hate her and it'd be more fun to watch her life destroyed lol. 

I actually look forward to each ep lately and that feels really nice. Please keep it up, show!

Abigail, you did the betrayal part well. You have still zero reason to think that Gabi drugged you. The Nanny is standing right in front of you. You should ask her if she was the one who sent you to the Florida hospital. If she can mess up with your entire family, she should be a suspect. Gwen did so well, but her plan went too well and it may fail. Gwen sure did enjoy rubbing every detail about her drunken night with Chad in Abs' face. I still wonder why Chad, if so drunk, didn't vomit on her.

It would be hard to come up with a description for someone you had two minutes of interaction with. The first sketch did look like Valerie. The other did resemble Dr. Raynor.

I kind of felt bad for Abby because Gwen was so mean but she did it well. I’m still trying to figure out who she is and why she hates Abby & her kin so much. I guess I’ll have to keep on watching.

A little round of applause for Marci Miller.  This storyline would be so much easier for me to not give a damn about if Kate Mansi were here spitting her lines at everyone.  And even if Billy Flynn's tears felt undeserved, I could totally understand why they were there, and why he just wanted Marci Miller's Abigail to hug him and make it all go away.  I loved that Chad's lack of trust in Abigail's word was an even deeper issue between them than the cheating.  

Kate vs Gwen!  YAY!  Kate didn't even bother standing up for this confrontation.  

Run with that money, Dr Raynor, run!  Do not let your guilty conscience allow the Salem PD to catch up with you!  

Vivian doesn't have to raise the twins.  She'll just make Ivan do it, or hire someone else.  

I hope we get more of Gwen scheming in an effort to find a place to live.  Seemed like she gave up her Golden Ticket telling Abigail about the sexy time with Chad.  Maybe Dr Rolf has some connections?  The new waitress at the Brady Pub would feel like such a defeat.

I'm enjoying the scenes of "cat & mouse" between Charlie & Rafe today.  Charlie is slick.  And Claire & her Mom have some emotional scenes., poor Claire always feeling like she is 2nd Best to Ciara. Also enjoying the scenes between Xander & Philip, Xander is really giving it to Philip!

Pretty sure Nicole is secretly interning as Julie's replacement, and she's doing quite well in the program. 

Kayla, if you're trying to comply with those patient privacy laws you might want to simply say Ava was undergoing "tests" rather than specify what kind. 

Zander is such an idiot! Is he really so dense to not realize that you don't just stop working for the mob that easily? I hope the mob kills him instead.
