The Bachelorette in the Media

I hope it lasts. It won't be the first marriage based on one person being desperately in love and the other one enjoying being loved.

I like the disclaimer on that site, "this account does not claim any information published is based in fact."  Heh.

Restraining order.

Interesting. I was a fan of One Eff Jef and Arie on Emily's season, they were the best thing on that season because I never liked Emily. They were the first bromance in the franchise. I remember Robby's name but nothing about his time on JoJo's season, although I knew he was living with Jef when he got on the show.

I'm hearing a lot of people demanding (for what that's worth) Natasha be the next Bachelorette.  I can't be the only one that's not on board with that, right?

She wasn't all that likable from what we saw on Peter's season, though that's a tough season to judge anyone by.  The only thing she did in BiP was get fooled by (and then mistreated by) Brendan, which seems like not the greatest resume filler.

And she's got a podcast with Tayshia and Grocery Joe. She's as close to being part of The Bachelor as you can be without getting paid by ABC. (And for all I know, the Click Bait guys do get paid by ABC.)

I'm sure she's a nice person and she didn't deserve what she got in Paradise.

So I wouldn't hate it if she were the Bachelorette -- I think she'd be better than Hannah B -- but she's not at the top of my list even among Paradise folks.

Deandra or Bri, however... different story... Or if people are going to insist on a contestant who got done wrong by the other contestants, maybe they could escort (ha!) Brittany on in.

Yes, and the only thing Becca did was get mistreated by Arie and I thought she was one of the worst B'ettes.  I like Natasha but I would always rather have someone new for the Bachelorette unless, like Michelle, the woman really stood out on her season for good humor and lively personality.

Becca is a good parallel. She also got the sympathy vote, and her season was pretty dull. (And I know they can't really screen for this but OMG she has awful taste in men.)

Totally agree. While it was unfortunate that Brendan played her like that, she's coming out of it with all the goodwill, all the extra followers that Brendan and Pieper wanted, and a heightened profile.

I don't remember her from her original season and I don't think she would have stood out in Paradise either if not for this situation. She's pretty and seems nice enough, but she doesn't grab my attention or command the room.

So I'm a no for the B'ette gig and I feel like the people pushing that idea are mainly wanting to stick it to Brendan and Pieper, just like they wanted to stick it to Arie and Lauren by celebrating Becca getting the gig.

I *do* like the implied middle finger at Brendan and Pieper, but I'm content to let those two fade into obscurity.

Reality Steve has photos of Madison from Peter's season out with Mike P. from Katie's season. Now THAT is a match that makes sense, at least in terms of values/interests/on paper.

I wonder if she's anything like his mom.

Both have the same initials too!

😂 I saw some quotes where he was talking about that part being wildly edited and taken out of context and now I just wonder what WAS the context, then?! His mom regularly comments and jokes on his Instagram about it so at least she seems cool.

Sorry, yes, this is about Mike P.

I've only ever skipped two seasons of The Bachelorette (one was Becca's because I didn't want to hear "Let's do the damn thing" ad nauseam) but am seriously thinking of skipping Michelle's. The reason? I don't want to watch another season with Kaitlyn and Tayshia's juvenile antics.

I just know that after I heard that the woman (name?) had kept Peter's whole family waiting, in make-up, on the sofa, under the camera lights for three hours while she hemmed and hawed outside about her feelings, I was on their side.

I think this is a reference to Mike P telling Katie that she reminded him of his mom.

Still regarding Mike P, as far as I can tell.

Madison is who you are referring, the one whom Peter's Mom didn't like. Though I wondered why she wasn't also upset with Peter for making them wait as well.

Because her son can do no wrong in her eyes.  I pity the woman who ends up with him. 😀

Correct. The 1:1 date they had was edited to look like he was talking about his mom the entire time, and then Katie eliminated him. That, and him being a virgin, are the only two things I remember about him.

Which I have no trouble believing was an editing choice, as most of the quotes were in voiceover, you can even hear it in the audio that they looped the same quote multiple times.

Given the endless focus this franchise has given to Ashley I and then Colton's virginity, I'm sure the editing team thought this would be a hilarious choice to do to the season's virgin.

Eh, I think that take came from Barb, the mother-in-law from hell in the making, so I question the accuracy.

Also, the contestants really don't call the shots on this show. IF there really was a 3-hour filming delay, you can bet there was a producer out there "encouraging" Madison to hem and haw, probably with a monitor in their ear getting updates from the producers in the house on the building tension caused by the waiting.

(All the above could be moot, I have precious little recollection of the actual episode in question. But I know Barb is an asshole and that this show is heavily manipulated, so I have a really hard time with the idea that a contestant truly held up production for 3 hours all on her own.)

I agree that the show is heavily manipulated but I think it was verified by others that Madison held things up for 3 hours and production never likes the costs involved with that.  Even Marilyn Monroe got fired for holding up production.

I think we might have been manipulated to hate Barb as much as we were manipulated to love Madison with her  huge family going around the table saying wonderful things about her.  We've seen some spoiled Daddy's girls on this show but she topped them all.

A middle aged woman is so much easier to hate than a cute young girl who plays basketball.  I think the show knows that and went with it.  I know Barb gave them plenty to work with but I also think she was used by them.

Not for me. My dislike for Barb came from her non-produced actions, behaviors, and social media

But to use the Marilyn Monroe example, if this random girl was holding up production, I feel that would be readily addressed in the moment. No camera crew is going to cool its heels for 3 hours if they weren't getting anything out of it, especially if it wasn't a star.

And yes, Barb could certainly have been edited to look bad in that instance, but she certainly went out of her way to cement her bad reputation all on her own. She came back for more on TV and on social media, so I can't find her a victim.

Gee, who would have guessed that getting engaged to the consolation prize—only one out of the last 4 NOT to choose to leave—didn’t bode well for their longterm compatibility?

Blake looked like he was going to the electric chair as he picked out the ring and walked to the proposal. Tayshia basically had to push him into it, so this is not surprising news in the slightest.

From what I saw of Katie on TV, I can imagine she would be very difficult to be engaged to. Her aunt alone would have sent me running like my ass was on fire. I don't really care about Greg either way, but the way she yelled at him on live TV while supposedly happily engaged was also a giant red flag for me. She wasn't very nice to a lot of the men on her season, and I could see her being very nasty if she and Blake ever fought. I found Blake kind of gross to be honest (sorry, that feels really mean to say, he's just not my type at all), but he seems like a pretty laid back guy who might not enjoy that.
