AimingforYoko Wednesday at 01:01 AM Share Wednesday at 01:01 AM Interesting episode, hi-jinks among the dual traumas with Angie and Will. I guess if you didn't have the diamond stuff, it would've been pretty grim. Casting director is batting 1.000 on the young versions of the cast. Young Angie had her facial expressions down pat. ShellsandCheese Wednesday at 01:04 AM Share Wednesday at 01:04 AM Holy shit! Sonja Sohn is so hot/amazing/gorgeous. I could be wrong but I feel like Faith and Ornewood is totally going to happen. And is it just me or did Will have amazing chemistry with Marco’s mom or what? It’s too bad that actress couldn’t have been cast as a love interest. Good episode with a lot of tongue-in-cheek comments BUT I thought Angie’s mom was already dead. And in other random news, I still remember the actress who played her mom from a Law and Order Episode from one of the really early seasons. She was trying to blackmail her wealthy boss by accusing him of assaulting her and causing a miscarriage. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8642947

DEL901 Wednesday at 01:18 AM Share Wednesday at 01:18 AM I’m glad Ormwood told Faith, even if it was by accident. He needs the support. But his new hairline, which debuted last week, is distracting. Why would they make the change mid season? Randy Mandy got her groove back. With a former criminal, no less. And poor Angie. Even in her dream/fantasy, her mother started by saying the words Angie dreamed off, but then said the words that Angie probably always felt… that she was never going to be better than her mother and permanently beat her addiction. This is going to cost her career and her boyfriend, the best man (other than Will) she’s ever been with. Could he be with her without risking his own sobriety now that she’s relapsed? 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8642957

The trauma with her mother was unresolved and drives all her bad decisions. I think she thought that if her mother could apologize and say she loved her that she/Angie would feel worthy of love, especially with re relationship with the doctor who she thinks is too good for her. Also, I understand why it is important to show Will's manpain but it's not entertaining any more. I guess it's going to be Angie's turn now. I wanted to shout "Don't take that drink!" Jodithgrace Wednesday at 02:44 AM Share Wednesday at 02:44 AM I totally called the “pregnant” woman as the criminal. There was no other reason to have a random pregnant character, if she wasn’t going to prove important to the plot. Chekhov’s belly, so to speak. Aw…that little brother was so cute, potential murderer though he was. Will handled the whole situation as best he could, and maybe found a tiny bit of absolution. I did not find Alonzo attractive, but Amanda did not consult me. At least he’s not an active jewel thief. Wasn’t he the brother of the celebrity? And we sure needed the fun island plot with the rest of the show. Love that Faith knows about Ormewood's tumour. Also glad that Amanda's fling wasn't the bad guy. Though geez, were Amanda and Evie ever the guests from hell at the beginning. I was clenching my teeth right along with the concierge. Will's story was heartbreaking. I don't know what else to say about it. There's really no good closure to be had for anyone — Will, the mom, or the little brother. Angie needs all the therapy in the world. Still wanting her mom's approval, after everything that horrible woman did to her is so desperately unhealthy. And boy is her inner monologue bleak (that's what her talk with her comatose mom was, after all. It's what Angie thinks of herself, that she's just like her mom and there's no escape). She's transferred the loathing her mother richly deserves into loathing for herself. So she blows up her sobriety. I will not be surprised if she self-destructs further. 6 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8643070

Badsamaritan Wednesday at 03:02 PM Share Wednesday at 03:02 PM I wish the entire show had been about Randy Mandy and Evie's vacation. I honestly cannot take any more of the trauma porn being dumped on Will and Angie. And I'm assuming we're in for another 'Angie's life gets blown to Hell' end of season cliffhanger and I am so over it. If they want to make Angie more like the books, then they should just do it and stop all the dithering back and forth with 'is she sober and good now or is she a druggie again?' bullshit. She should absolutely lose her job now for good. She has way too many emotional problems that she hasn't dealt with to be an active police officer. Agreed about the chemistry between Will and the mother. I had a thought that perhaps the little brother would start reaching out to Will and having him do stuff for them that his older brother would do, like fixing the smoke detector, and Will would end up becoming a surrogate for them. Amanda's hot hookup was played by Jason Alan Carver, who previously played Jimmy Boyd, Dwayne Pride's half brother on NCIS: New Orleans. I love his voice. Like whiskey and honey. Mmm.... 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8643268
marceline Wednesday at 03:10 PM Share Wednesday at 03:10 PM So Angie’s back to being messy. Well, it was nice while it lasted. It’s kind of ironic that Angie falls off the wagon shortly after she accused Ormewood of drinking because of the symptoms of his brain tumor. I guess we can now look forward to Toxic Angie. I wonder how Seth will respond given his own sobriety. How long have they been dating? I assume she will push him away in some godawful fashion. I don’t like the way Faith treats her mother. We know from Evelyn’s kidnapping that Faith really loves her mom so I don’t see why she’s so dismissive of her mom’s help. I’m genuinely surprised at the lack of comment by Faith or Ormewood about Amanda standing there in her underwear. Diego was a strange child. He plans to kill Will then suddenly thinks he’s a nice guy? This week’s “That’s not how anything works” award goes to the idea that the cops combing over the resort would hand a box of evidence over to the hotel manager and tell him to deliver it to the detectives in the back room. Chain of custody is a thing. 2 hours ago, dleighg said: I was sure they were there undercover investigating something and were play-acting being guests from hell! But they really were! Same. fishcakes Wednesday at 03:18 PM Share Wednesday at 03:18 PM What a fun episode. Randy Mandy indeed. And I like that Evelyn had no interest in hooking up with anyone, just in getting as drunk as she could and staying that way. I assume that the line about how the adaptation of the book that Amanda and Alonso were reading was using an actor that looked nothing like the description of the main character was an inside joke at the Will Trent of the books being a tall, lanky blonde. 2 hours ago, dleighg said: ETA: from Reddit, this is what I was barely remembering: Quote Wasn’t it implied that she had at least a flirtation with Theresa in S1E3? Faith was like “your… friend?” and Amanda responded, “Mind your business” and I thought that’s what they were getting at, because they seemed very close in the episode and Will and Faith exchanged a few knowing glances. I was thinking of that too, although I couldn't remember the details, and after I'd always assumed Amanda was a lesbian so I was wondering if the writers forgot that when Evelyn was pointing at different guys and saying "how about that one?" But then she pointed out the young woman, so I guess now we know Mandy's just a people person. Love that Ormewood and Faith not only changed into resort wear, but also changed their clothes at least once. And Ormewood not wanting to be called Michael because it implies that Faith thinks he's dying. I assumed Angie's mom had been long-gone since Angie was very young and that Angie had grown up mostly in foster care. Knowing that she probably shuttled back and forth might be worse. If her mom pimped her out at 5, what did she do when Angie was 15? The hospital scenes were heartbreaking, especially Angie dying her mom's hair the exact shade of blonde that she always wore; even after everything, she wants to make her mom happy. I, too, do not care that Betty licks her own butt. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8643279

Also, they sometimes have celebrity/high society clients who hire them to protect something. There are also episodes where it's supposed to be a fun vacation but crime happens and they have to solve the case. Calvada Thursday at 12:09 AM Share Thursday at 12:09 AM They were on an island off the coast of Georgia since Faith said she and Ormewood were driving there? It would have to be a place where they would have jurisdiction. Why would they assume the killer was still on the island? What if they had a boat or canoe or kayak or jet ski or a wetsuit/flippers/oxygen tank with which to make their escape? I don't care how long it had been since Amanda had sex, I found it difficult to believe that the Amanda we've seen as the deputy director of the GBI would hook up with a potential suspect in a homicide. What if he had been the killer? Can you imagine it becoming public that she had spent the night with him and was in his room half-dressed when Faith and Ormewood came to arrest him? Since the only member of the entourage that the group met on screen was Alonso, and I didn't think they would have Amanda hook up with a killer, it had to be one of the three hotel staffers we saw, narrowed down to two when the security guy was found dead. The desk clerk provided an alibi that could be easily verified, so it had to be Lola. It was nice of the kid to wait until Will was in front of him to pull the gun from his backpack. How did he know where Will lived? Will needs better locks on his windows if that child could break in so easily. Not really a stone cold killer, since getting home to do his homework was a priority. I wonder how many years until he realizes that if he had killed Will, his mom probably would have been suspect #1? Angie's story line showed just why she's so screwed up. Did I understand correctly that her mother had been comatose for years? Does that happen often, where comatose people wake up, speak in coherent, complete sentences, and then promptly die? 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8643633

I don’t think she work up and spoke. The hospital staff said she was showing signs of awakening, but I think everything she saw was just Angie dreaming/wish fulfilment. The first part of what she said is what Angie has been dreaming of hearing all her life. Then she said the part Angie feared, that she was just the same as her mother. In reality, she never spoke a word. IMO. 12 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8643769
DEL901 Thursday at 01:15 AM Share Thursday at 01:15 AM One thing I forgot to mention, I really liked the early ‘70s vibe with the multiple screen splits (I don’t know the official name for this) where they would have multiple scenes on the screen as they changed from one story to another. 10 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8643869

I think the only other thing I've seen her in is The Wire, where her character is a lesbian, so that has influenced how I've seen Amanda. Quote The actress is Molly Price. She's been in a bunch of things over the years. She was a regular on Third Watch but the place I recognize her from lately is Elsbeth. She plays one of the rotating detectives Elsbeth works with. I love the rotating detectives on that show, and Molly Price is one of my favorites. 11 hours ago, Badsamaritan said: I wish the entire show had been about Randy Mandy and Evie's vacation. Man, I absolutely loved watching them together. They're so much fun together. I esp love Evie. 11 hours ago, marceline said: I’m genuinely surprised at the lack of comment by Faith or Ormewood about Amanda standing there in her underwear. Loved the moment where Amanda plainly says, "Now I would like to put on some pants." 1 hour ago, DEL901 said: One thing I forgot to mention, I really liked the early ‘70s vibe with the multiple screen splits (I don’t know the official name for this) where they would have multiple scenes on the screen as they changed from one story to another. I loved this too. I don't know if it was an homage to the Oceans 11 movies with the heist and all, but it was enjoyable. Now, having said that, there was serious whiplash between this fun caper plot and the Angie one along side the Will one. Those two were really deep and depressing. I was so disappointed when Angie took that drink. For a second I thought she was just going to stare at it and then walk away. Jeff Hiller. I was very happy to see him. He was one of my favorite characters in Somebody Somewhere. I wanted a friend like him. It was nice to see him playing a different sort of character. I had read recently that he was having trouble getting work. Oh, and watching the Falconess running away, rolling expertly down an incline, running up and down a car, made me think of Flambeau from Father Brown. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644177

Obviously I wasn't clear, but that's what I was thinking when I asked about the reality of comatose patients waking to coherence, issuing zingers, then expiring. One other thing I wanted to mention - what a great friend Franklin is to help Angie color her comatose mother's hair. I have very close friends whose mothers were wonderful to their children (and to me) and I don't think I would immediately run to the nearest drugstore to buy hair color kits in that type of situation without a little pushback. Are you sure that's necessary? That's the priority? I have a friend who helped her husband give his mother a manicure as she was in the last hours of her life, because she was agitated by what her nails would look like when she was in her coffin at the visitation. But the mom was conscious! 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644194
tennisgurl Thursday at 04:26 AM Share Thursday at 04:26 AM That was certainly a lot of emotional whiplash, it made my neck hurt swinging back and fourth between the wacky hijinks of Evie, Faith, Ormewood, and Randy Mandy and the sad time hours with Angie and Will. I was hoping that we could focus on mostly a silly fun case, I needed that after all of the drama. Both plots were pretty good, but they felt really weird next to each other. Faith and Ormewood are great together, I am glad that at least she knows about his tumor. Just don't call him Michael Faith, it makes it sound like he's dying. The casting department really is outdoing themselves, I loved seeing Joel Hiller here and the casting for young Angie was excellent. As wonderful as Betty is, and she truly is utterly wonderful, Will really does need therapy from someone who isn't an adorable puppy in a sweater. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644270
possibilities Thursday at 06:46 AM Share Thursday at 06:46 AM I was surprised nobody knew about Oremwood's brain tumor. I'd think that after you act really off, and then collapse, at work, your team would want to know what happened when you went and got checked out. And you would not be working your job where you carry a gun if you have trouble with visual-spacial perception and are prone to suddenly collapsing. Wouldn't he have health coverage at his current job, so he wouldn't HAVE TO go through the VA? And I guess his symptoms disappeared, since he didn't have any whole working the case this week. Nitpicking aside, I liked the episode. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644309

SharonH58 Thursday at 12:57 PM Share Thursday at 12:57 PM (edited) I enjoyed the fun parts of this episode but not the continuing drama of angst for Will and Angie. And will people PLEASE stop telling little boys they have to be the MAN of the house. No they don't. Do they tell little girls they have to be the WOMAN of the house? I guess in some cases but they don't put it like that. Also calling boys Little Man. Rant over - I think Angie will either make Seth fall off the wagon or she'll make some scene, and he'll have to call it quits. I'm glad Ormewood told somebody. Before it was revealed that Angie was dreaming this, I was thinking how unrealistic it was for a comatose patient awaken with such a clear voice. It should be raspy, if at all. So I was glad it turned out to be a dream. A bad dream full of Angie's self-hate, but at least not real. Quote One other thing I wanted to mention - what a great friend Franklin is to help Angie color her comatose mother's hair. Yes, I forgot to mention how wonderful Franklin was. A great character. I meant to ask: When Amanda makes the comment that the movie casting for the book she was reading was bad because the actor doesn't look like the character, I assumed that was a little in-joke about the casting for this show. Since I haven't read the books, can someone fill me in? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644402

I could not agree more about the man of the house thing. No, no they're not. They are still little kids who need to be parented. Bets on how long it takes before Angie starts using doctor Seth to get drugs behind his back? Due to her expletive mother and all the abuse she suffered as a child, and as we've already seen on this show, Angie treats sex and her relationships with men as largely transactional. So if she falls further off the wagon, I expect her to see Seth as a drug source. That, of course, will be the end of that. Or Seth will just see Angie intoxicated and say he can't maintain his own sobriety while in a relationship with someone who's using. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644480

Reminds me of a Game of Thrones episode where show-Jaime (Lannister) talks with Tyrion after the particularly gruesome battle of Blackwater Bay, and says something along the lines of "I heard you lost your nose, but it’s not as bad as all that," or words to that effect. Book Tyrion did in fact lose half his nose to Ser Mandon Moore's blade, and had a gigantic scar across his face thereafter. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152946-s03e15-the-most-beautiful-fierce-smart-powerful-creature-in-the-whole-world/#findComment-8644519
