txhorns79 Yest. at 03:35 AM Share Yest. at 03:35 AM The drowned little girl was tough. My heart ached for that grandmother. Nothing will ever be the same for her. She will replay those events over and over in her head for the rest of her life. She will never forgive herself, even if not a single person blames her for what happened. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587038
Irlandesa Yest. at 04:34 AM Share Yest. at 04:34 AM That was a good but tough episode. That last honor walk would normally have a song behind it but it was quite powerful without it. Again Santos was slapped back with her insinuations about Langdon. I hope she keeps on being wrong. I loved that her chance at surgery with Shamsi ended up being cancelled because it was a black widow spider. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587082
Raachel2008 Yest. at 04:51 AM Share Yest. at 04:51 AM I had to to go back and review all Santos and Langdon scenes because the accusation that he is stealing pills makes no sense at all. The vial a couple of episodes back - she’s the one who picked it and couldn’t open it - how do you go from this to “he is stealing pills”? How not being able to open it is proof that meds are being diverted? And didn’t the alcoholic patient said the “missing pills” were in his pocket? And I’m going to be even more pissed if Santos is right, not because she cannnot be right or Langdon cannot be an addict but because it will be a lazy writing way to validate all her shit behavior from before - in this exact episode she infantilized Javadi (after calling her that stupid nickname in fry of a superior), talked to Garcia about her suspicion in the middle of the E.R., where everybody could hear her - and potentially spread a false (until proved) rumor. Never mind her fucking excited gleeful smile when she realized she would finish amputating the finger *before* the patient himself started cracking jokes. I’m utterly done with her. It was brutal watching them trying to save the little girl and all of them knowing she wouldn’t make it. I was expecting the mom or dad to blame the grandmother and I’m relieved it didn’t happen - and I hope it doesn’t happen next episode. The grandmother and the sister will always blame themselves for it. Amber’s parents despair is exactly where Nicky’s parents where four episodes ago, except they didn’t get a dozens tests to confirm their kid is dead. The walk of honor was extremely moving to me. I think it is like when someone you love dies and a lot of people attends the funeral - it is a small comfort to know people cared about your loved one. It doesn’t stop the pain or bring the person back, but it gives some sort of meaning in all that. It may be a long shot, but I think what is happening there with tPiper and her boss is that since the boss is pregnant she was “hired” to be a sexual partner for the husband either because the boss can’t or doesn’t want to have sex anymore or because the husband doesn’t want to have sex with her. It would explain both the clamydia and the living in the same house and the human trafficking angle. I loved Willie’s plot. It was great to see the teaching dynamics there - Robby - Langdon - Moran - Javadi, the senior teaching the young, the young teaching the younger. The actor playing Willie was awesome and his story is so well timed being Black History Month. It is telling that when Willie was talking about how the government fired the black paramedics and hired white ones the 2025 paramedics listening to this were white. When Kiara talked to Pilar about the agency that could help her caring for mother my first thought was “if this really exists, Trump already cut the the budget for it”. 7 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587093
Paws Yest. at 04:52 AM Share Yest. at 04:52 AM Dr King is just the bestest. Love her so much. That was a really great, intense episode. What’s going on w potential human trafficking victim? She spoke like a very experienced person, not someone naively caught up or scared. Hmmm. is there a chance Santos is somehow right about Langdon? Because I really want her to be wrong. bybrandy Yest. at 07:21 AM Share Yest. at 07:21 AM Seriously I will be so annoyed if Santos is right. But I guess with the vial her concern is if the meds were diverted and then say replaced with saline it would explain why Langdon was so cavalier about giving the more than standard extra dose. but yeah I so don’t want her to be right. There is no end to how much I don’t want her to be right. loved Javadi finding the spider bite. Robbie was so low key this episode but still such a calming and central presence. I called trafficking the minute the STD patient came in which is the only reason I wonder if it is something else. But it still smells like a super creepy trafficking situation. called daughter fell asleep in her car! Love that she might be getting some relief although in real life I feel like somehow when she got home she’d be told she didn’t qualify for some reason. Morrigan2575 Yest. at 01:47 PM Share Yest. at 01:47 PM Damn you, show! I was not prepared for Amber, I thought the badness would come from the honor walk but, nooo9o you had to throw in a little drowned girl who saved her baby sister's life! Mel, Bella and the Bear killed me. I can not do this every week. I'm glad Garcia put Santos in her place, maybe now she'll stop with trying to prove Langdon is stealing drugs just to make herself feel better about her own screw ups. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587246
SeanBug Yest. at 01:55 PM Share Yest. at 01:55 PM So The Pitt is basically tearing out our hearts and stomping on them. The little girl who drowned was just too much. But I'm almost glad (not the right word) from a writing standpoint it ended the way it did. Any other show they wouldn't have two kids die so tragically. You could just see notes from the network, "does it have to be so sad all the time?" I had a dr (may have been a resident he was pretty young) from a nearby hospital come thru my line at work and I told him about the show. He was confirming everything I told him about being short staffed, etc. And this is a dr at a cardiovascular/heart center facility. He's worked 60 hours/week for the last four weeks. We talked about it being more about surveys and profits, but the hospital's marketing campaign is "patient focused medicine". I can't wait to find out what is going on with the young woman and her weird AF creepy "boss". Starting to give off Ghislaine Maxwell vibes. Re Santos and her suspicions. My father was on Ambien, oxycodone and I can't even remember the rest. EMTs found pills in his pocket once. Elderly people do stuff like that all the time. Which I guess just goes to show the writers are doing a good job making this realistic. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587258
Empress1 Yest. at 01:59 PM Share Yest. at 01:59 PM The little girl who drowned wrecked me, as did her sister with the bear and the card. Dr. Robby is really a pro at delivering horrible news. I knew she wasn’t going to make it but still, when Dr. Robby said it, I lost it. The bright spot was Willie. I loved listening to him. (I said “white ones” along with him when he said the city took over the program and brought in new medics.) Dr. Robby’s mentor really must have been extraordinary. I think “Shut UP, Santos” at least twice an episode. The honor walk kid’s father’s face when Dr. Robby said the staff would like to attend the funeral was great acting. There was grief and sadness and pride all mixed in. 6 hours ago, bybrandy said: I called trafficking the minute the STD patient came in which is the only reason I wonder if it is something else. But it still smells like a super creepy trafficking situation. It’s really weird. The idea that she’s a sexual surrogate for her boss’s partner makes sense. There’s got to be something to the pregnancy. When her boss said they had no secrets I was like “I have nothing but secrets from my boss.” And I like my boss. I had to look away for the finger stuff. It wasn’t even that gory, but I couldn’t do it. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587261

kickingnames 21 hours ago Share 21 hours ago I have a new precious snuggle muffin, and her name is Dr. Mel King! She was so good with the little girl and the bear. The whole situation was just crushing. I have figured out that I can't actually watch the physical medical procedures. I look away every time and just listen to the dialogue and infer. Those aren't images I need in my head while trying to sleep. The human trafficking storyline is done very well and made me sad as well. I'm not entirely sure they can do anything if the "assistant" isn't able to be honest with herself about what's going on. Whoop whoop to Javadi figuring out the spider bite before her mom showed up! I hate that she's repeatedly being cast into her mom's shadow, so good on her getting to doctor on her own. Loved the Freedom House reveal. Whether or not it was a BHM callout, it was a wonderful thing to tie in here. The less said about Santos the better. Garcia was right that it's ridiculous for Santos to be floating this accusation when she's been there for all of seven hours. But I'm preparing to be fully enraged when she's somehow proven right, because drama. 🙄 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587436
Infie 21 hours ago Share 21 hours ago For those keeping track: ep 1.08 - 45:37 I thought the honor walk was extremely well done. Langdon is not stealing meds. The spider bite catch was great! That whole patient story was an example of how to write these things; a compact storyline that went from 'drug seeking?' to 'ah! actual patient.' to 'spider bite!' in just a couple of scenes and a few minutes of screen time. Dr Javadhi going from distraction patsy to heroine and stepping out of her mother's shadow a little! There is no question that a lot of folks are having a terrible day. Robbie, Collins, Whittaker, and of course the patients. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587448
Notabug 21 hours ago Share 21 hours ago (edited) This was a tough one for me. Almost 34 years ago, my 5 year old nephew drowned in an accident eerily similar to what we saw on the show. Kids used a bench to climb a fence and get to a swimming pool where they apparently fell in. Amber in asystole with the team working frantically to continue CPR until her core temp was high enough to be sure she wasn't salvageable just like my nephew. They worked on him for about an hour an a half, BTW. Back in those days, they didn't allow families to witness codes like they do today. But, back then, they didn't also require key codes or cards to open doors so someone who knew what to look for could easily walk into the trauma room and watch the team work. Like me. If you act like you know where you're going, you can go almost anywhere. Even the organ donation, although the walk of honor wasn't around back then. Also, the other kid with my nephew survived but had severe brain damage which placed his mental age at 2 months. I don't know the eventual outcome, but his neurologic prognosis was negative and he's probably no longer alive. There were some dumb medical points, like, if you're doing surgery requiring you to saw through bone, you might want to scrub first, wear sterile gloves (those blue vinyl ones are not sterile) and a mask to prevent infection. Same thing when they were placing the line to float the pacemaker. I realize they don't wear masks so the audience can hear the actors clearly and see their facial expressions. Still bugs, though. I have no idea what bee got up Santos' butt, nor how she somehow concluded that Langdon must be stealing meds because she couldn't remove the cap from a vial. Those caps pop off easily with the flick of a finger and, once they're off, it's almost impossible to replace them on the vial securely. So, a vial that was hard to open would be the last thing I'd expect if someone was stealing drugs. As for Santos' pill counting escapades, it apparently never occurred to her that the alcoholic guy might've trade some pills for booze or dropped some on the ground in a drunken stupor or just pocketed some; all of which are far more likely than Langdon, having stolen meds and replaced them with saline, super glued the lid back on the vial to escape detection. Loved the discussion of the origins of EMT services and how they came to be and their legacy today. Really fascinating story that needs to be told. jah1986 19 hours ago Share 19 hours ago I thought the episode where the elderly father died was going to be the saddest episode this season, but episode 8 said "hold my beer". That was so rough and so well done. I worked in a pediatric ER for 7 years and somedays really are just drama you think only happens in movies. Regardless of what department you worked in, if you heard a Code Blue over the speaker system, it just brought your whole day down. And seeing the family reaction stays with you long after your shift. Between the honor walk and Bella talking to Bear, this episode was just gut wrenching. I'm still worried Dr. Collins is going to pass out before her shift ends. So proud of the way Mel handled Bella, I was worried she would blurt out something inappropriate. I can't wrap my head around what's going on with the possible sex-trafficking victim yet. How many patients has Whitaker lost today? 3? Loved seeing Harold Sylvester working. His story about being an old school EMT was so moving and well done. Finally, Rita's (?) happy tears at the prospect of getting some help for her and her mom. We'll take any small victories. 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587541

All I could think of was the guilt the grandmother would live with. I was also glad the caretaker was offered help. I was talking to my TV when she was told she needed to take care of herself and get help. It’s like she obviously can’t afford it. Night Cheese 16 hours ago Share 16 hours ago Well this hour was rough. I watched during my lunch break and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to concentrate on anything after that sob fest. I guess a silver lining is that my son wanted to watch Paw Patrol with me this morning and I wasn't able to watch this before work like I usually do on Fridays. My whole day would be shot, if so. The potential sex trafficking woman is interesting. I liked the theory upthread about her being a surrogate sex partner for the boss's husband. That would be an interesting twist. The way they played her answering the doctor and nurse's questions was very ambiguous. I couldn't tell if she was really conditioned to not say anything or give any details or if the two ladies were really off in their line of questioning. Kind of reminded me of the daughter from last episode. When Santos questioned her about her dad, she vehemently denied it, but it wasn't clear if Santos was way off base or the girl was in denial/protecting her abuser. I was most looking forward to a resolution on the influencer storyline, but it seemed lackluster. Last ep the young doc (I don't know many names yet) seemed to be onto something when she ordered labs for mercury testing, but Dr. Rabby seemed angered that she didn't turf her to Psych like he said. This episode starts with a positive mercury poisoning diagnosis and Dr. Rabby seems proud that she figured it out. I thought there was going to be some fallout there, but no. The different cases in each episode are so cool that it reminds me of peak ER. But I can't help but wonder if it is normal to have such a wide range of unique cases over the course of one shift. Accidental OD x2 (one death), accidental child OD, woman pushed in front of a subway, mother of an incel who made herself sick to have her son seen, family overrides elderly fathers DNR, sickle cell woman, teen medical abortion, elderly dementia woman, black widow bite, mercury poisoning, nail gun to the chest. Plus all the new cases from this episode as well as the dozen or more that I'm probably missing. Probably several more children storylines that I had to fast-forward through and promptly forgot. And Dr. Robby's ptsd is flaring up because it's the anniversary of his mentors death, also Dr Collins is pregnant and miscarries. This is supposed to be a normal weekday right? Incel boy ran off to school in the first or second episode and the OD college kids took Xanax to relax and study for finals or something. Oh, and a stolen ambulance and high-speed chase. What a day! And we still have like 5 hours to go! I'm loving this show and am here for the long haul, but my goodness. What an exhausting ride this has been. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587690

But I can't help but wonder if it is normal to have such a wide range of unique cases over the course of one shift I'm loving this show and am here for the long haul, but my goodness. What an exhausting ride this has been. No, in real life, 99% of the patients in the ER are there for fairly minor things and get sent on their way without much fuss. It would be extremely rare to have so many critical life or death cases except in the event of a mass casualty like a train derailment or a mass shooting. Old time ER did the same thing; way more critical cases than you'd see in the typical day. The other thing the show does that doesn't happen in real life is that they get test results, even unusual ones, back in a short time. For example, labs do not routinely run testing for heavy metals like mercury or lead as stat and the lab isn't set up to do it. I checked with the lab where I work and they estimate a 7 day turnaround on a mercury level. So, the patient with mercury poisoning wouldn't be diagnosed and treated within a couple of hours. Instead, they probably would've consulted with a toxicologist who would've followed up with her. Once on old school ER, they diagnosed someone with Huntington's disease during the course of an episode. Huntington's is a rare genetic disorder that requires chromosomal testing and there is no such thing as a stat test for it anymore than it is very likely that an ER doc would've recognized subtle signs of a rare disease and even ordered the test. ER docs are there to diagnose the immediate problem, not to diagnose and treat chronic conditions. Same thing with surgical procedures. Doubtful that an ER doc would be able to do an effective enough digital block to allow amputation of part of a finger, let alone be able to do the actual procedure on said finger. There are plenty of orthopedic residents and attendings around to handle that stuff. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587948

debraran 5 hours ago Share 5 hours ago This gutted me and being a mom who was always hiding my fear of water and drownings, it hit hard. I could swim, gave lessons, but I heard about too many incidents. Every year, you just know come June, the first drowning incident will appear on the news and some summers it's a lot. I realize being human you can only do so much but it's so heartbreaking whether it happens at a pool or beach. They did it well but the bear, the sister....just killed me. A little levity thrown in, but the walk of honor, learning about the black medics if you didn't know, all blended in well. The writers did a fabulous job. The possible (probable) young woman being trafficked, was so disturbing. It reminded me why I stopped watched SVU, just too much heartache and seedy side of the world. I hope even being an adult, they can break through. Seeing her walk off with her "boss", no home, no phone, no way to break free would be hard to watch. It reminds me of the old 70's cops shows that always had the runaway or country bumpkin who gets off the bus in NYC and a pimp or seedy character sucks her into their world. Please let this 2025 version end better. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152010-s01e08-200-pm/#findComment-8587994
