I thought it was the La-Z-Boy making Gary look so sloppy, but I was wrong.  Just sitting in a kitchen chair in his lame attention-seeking t-shirt, he needed subtitles while speaking English to his wife.  And, of course it makes sense that Gary would drive Amber to the airport to meet Dimitri because Amber doesn’t want attention.  Gary says it’s difficult to communicate with Dimitri.  He’s not a native English speaker; what’s your excuse?!

I was glad Mackenzie took a month off from filming.  And apparently that’s exactly how look it took for Josh to revert to being an asshole.  Josh thinks there’s nothing between being “ok” and suicide?  Does he not realize the entire premise of his reality show and the vast majority of reality shows’ premises are based on people who are not ok who make bad decisions?  Does he not realize this irony of being “not ok” is keeping a roof over his head??

I hate looking at Maci’s Taylor.  He looks like a twelve year old boy in an old man’s beard.  Why would he sit on a counter when there is a perfectly good chair right across from Maci?  It looks so stupid.  Not to mention unhygienic.  As soon as they called Bentley into the kitchen, he jumped up to sit on the counter.  What’s going to happen if he goes to one of his private school friends’ homes and sits his ass on the counter?  They’re going to think he was raised in a trashy household.  They wouldn’t be wrong.  

How much money did Maci say private school would be?  Twelve thousand dollars?  Whatever amount Maci said in the five figures, something tells me she’s done stupider things with five figures.  It probably costs five figures to heat and cool that house.  What are the payments like on that late model Jeep?  Her and Taylor’s ugly tattoos look like they cost a pretty penny.  I think Maci just wants to be all, “rah, rah, public school,” because she thinks it’s the PC position to take.  

Why are Catelynn and Tyler assuming Ashely is sober?  If she’s not passing regular, court-mandated drug tests, she’s probably not sober.  By “probably” I mean “definitely.”  Ashley is so manipulative.  She tearfully tells Catelynn and Tyler she doesn’t want them to think she’s taking advantage of their trust when that’s exactly what she did.  And they didn’t make her answer for it.  They want her there because then they don’t have to concentrate on their mundane bullshit.  Who wants to put on a birthday party for a five year old when you can just curse at a houseguest in front of said five year old and show everyone how much you have your shit together comparatively?

Cheyenne wants to spend as much time with Ryder as she can before Ryder starts going to school for three hours a day?  Who writes these dumb-ass voiceovers?  So Cheyenne currently spends more than 21 hours a day with her?  What about when Cori used to have her?  

I can’t believe Gary and Kristina are socializing with Amber and Dimitri and allowing them to be around Leah as if one isn’t a domestically abusive felon and the other isn’t a stranger of questionable judgment.  What is their custody arrangement?  it doesn’t seem like Amber has any custody of Leah.  Is Amber allowed to have unsupervised visits with her?  If so, why?  She has not demonstrated that she wouldn’t hurt the child.  Isn’t that parenting 101?  If Amber has no say over Leah, and she’s just going by the grace that Gary and Kristina extend to her, it is horribly irresponsible to let Dimitri come over without knowing him first.

Mackenzie’s life does look like it’s falling apart, and it seems like the last real thing on this show, so that’s welcome, but Josh is not at all under the impression that she’s suicidal, because if you think the mother of your children/your wife is suicidal, you get help.  He’s just using it as an excuse to cut and run and not have to deal with the troublesome behavior his son is manifesting as a result of the example he set.  This is just Josh’s newest way of refusing to parent, and he sucks.  Mackenzie, I told you to divorce him!

Why was Mackenzie talking about how she wasn't actually going to kill herself in front of her kid? That seemed damaging. Josh has very low emotional intelligence and if he wants to be a halfway decent father and husband he needs to work on himself. This whole,"that's just the way he is" is bullshit. Mackenzie needs a grief therapist and to rely on Josh less for her emotional needs. He's just not capable at this point. She relied on her mom a lot and I'm sure her death left a big hole but Josh ain't going to fill it.

Amber's new guy should not be around Leah yet. Cheyenne still has no real problems. Tyler and Caitlynn need to tell the friend to leave. Yes, they've known her for a long time but they're allowed to outgrow old friends with arrest records and ongoing drug problems. Go with her to meetings, take her to dinner, but support her from afar.

How was Mackenzie not bawling her eyes out during the funeral? Maybe it’s my 38 week pregnancy hormones but man, how devastating to lose your mother so young. Josh doesn’t know why she’s calling him crying? Could he wager a guess maybe? It was also so kind of him to say “if you’re talking about killing yourself, I’m not gonna be a part of that” and then leave the house while she was crying out for help. I still think she’ll realize eventually that they’re a horrible match and she’s better off without his dead eyes and her wandering penis. 
 

Cheyenne has the cutest daughter EVER but fuck, I hate her gravelly voice. It hurts my ears. It’s annoying they pretend she doesn’t get any time away from her kid, who spends a few days a week at her dads house. Come on, that’s more than some parents get in a year. I do think she’s quite gracious about Taylor’s presence in Ryder’s life. 

Holy crap, Catelyn gave up on a career possibility?! My shock and disbelief almost sent me into early labor. She’ll never amount to anything except a possible contender for My 600 lb Life. Cate and Tyler think they’re amazing for breaking the cycle of parental trauma but somehow I doubt either of them are reading parenting books or discussing techniques and styles with other parents. They have way too many inappropriate conversations in front of Nova. 
 

I don’t understand these men who come out of the woodwork to impregnate Amber. Is it worth a machete attack to get some screen time on a trashy MTV show? What do they actually get out of this besides an Instagram following and some sponsored posts? 
 

Maci’s story is too boring to even discuss but it’s a good thing. I’m happy for her that her life is so dull and drama-free that the most interesting thing is her son attending private school.

Well, Dmitri's right on schedule with his training program.  He brought Amber coffee in bed. There will be a lot of preparing food and bringing it to Amber in bed in his future.

Mackenzie has two choices: admit she married the wrong man for her and give it up or reconcile herself to the fact that Josh simply does not have the kind of temperament/personality that allows him to do the 'emotional support talky thing' that Mackenzie is demanding of him. She wanted the strong silent type and that's what she married. It's a little late to realize you really wanted the mushy talky emotional guy. That ship has sailed. I feel for her losing her mom but she is so ultra-dramatic about everything. She seems like she would be draining to be living with 24/7. I am not excusing Josh for constantly walking away during conversations or cheating, but Mackenzie is a lot.

Am I an evil person because I cannot comprehend why on pretty much every reality show folks act like an absence of a month or so is beyond bearing and agonize over not seeing their loved one for what I consider a relatively short period of time? How do these people dress themselves every morning when they are so utterly dependent on the constant presence of family members and significant others? I don't get it.

That said, I remember leaving my son when he was little for half day preschool and it was emotionally difficult for me. Not for him, but for me. It's an adjustment. So I sympathize with Cheyenne.

Full disclosure: I did not watch this episode and most likely won't, given everything I've read here. But I do have a thought about Leah spending time with Amber and Dimitri. It's possible that because of her (Leah's) age, Gary feels like she will tell him about anything that happens, plus I'm pretty sure she has a cell phone and would call him if she wanted to leave. But I also agree that this is an everyone sucks kind of situation (except Leah).

I'm disgusted that Gary, Kristina, and of course Amber had some complete stranger meet Leah.  In my opinion, things should be serious and long-term before it's time to meet the kids.  Poor Leah, always having to be the smartest person in the room. Same thing for the whole posse who showed up for Amber's court date to "support" her.

I wonder if Gary let Leah spend time with Amber because it was safer with the MTV crew around than letting her visit another time without the crew. I do wish that Gary would put his foot down with Amber and not let her see Leah until she meets certain criteria (like the ones in her probation). Gary and Kristina could still be on the show with that storyline but keep Leah out of it. Leah is old enough to know about her mom’s issues and understand why she shouldn’t visit her until Amber is under control.

I cried too.....twice. Thankfully, I haven't lost my parents, but I lost my little brother 13 months ago, and if not for the support of my husband, I wouldn't have survived it. It's still a day to day challenge.

Tyler and Ashley are jeopardizing their friendship by changing it from a peer relationship into a parent/child relationship.  I don't think either of them realize this yet.  I agree with what someone up thread said, she needs professionals. 

My heart broke for Mackenzie.  She's not been my favorite, but losing your mom is obviously extremely traumatic and she is so lost.  I don't think at all she was saying she was going to kill herself, I think she was saying that the grief is so strong that it would be easier to not be alive.  I can differentiate between the two.  She was also trying to get through to Josh how hard this is for her.  She's grasping for that one thing that will make him understand, but it doesn't exist.  And she's right to worry about Gannon bottling up his emotions, especially given his age.  Josh was pissed, but can he seriously consider his life a success?  He's so closed off that he seems barely alive.  Makes me want to stick a mirror under his nose to see if he's still breathing.  I also notice that he didn't seem to care if the kids were left with someone that he thought was unstable.  I can't stand him.  Good thing she didn't spend her moms last days planning some meaningless ceremony with him.  She is dead wrong though, to talk about any of this in front of the kids.  I don't know why all of these people do this.

There are a lot of things that are unacceptable after your mid-twenties. Here's my list. 

• Codependent behavior with family and friends. 
• Trying to make the dick of the week legitimate in the eyes of family and friends. 
• Propping up addicts who don't want to be sober to make you feel good and charitable. 
• Letting serial killer material into your home and exposing family and friends to said serial killer material. 
• Acting out mommy and daddy issues with your friends. 
• Cursing instead of speaking in complete sentences. 

And here's what unacceptable at all times: 

• Living off of  and exploiting your children WHO are the breadwinners of the family.
• Depriving your children of safety and privacy. 
• Making the children you live off of jump through hoops to go to private school when you couldn't pass basic courses in community college. 
• Neglecting the children you live off of. 
• Abandoning the children you live off of to your own fuck up parents. 

If this stale reality TV show was filmed in the crummy apartments or trailers these people could afford based on their own gumption, brains, and talent, it would be a more authentic experience. Remember teens, thou art trash, and unto the trash you will return when this stale show is finally cancelled.

I think everyone around Amber is on MTV's payroll, and that's a large part of the problem. Dr. Drew won't ask these girls hard questions, and neither will anyone else who might get cut off. I have a friend who is like Catelynn and Tyler. When your whole childhood was chaos, I think anything else feels boring. So whenever things get stable, you introduce more chaos, like Ashley. NuNuMatt is reasonably nice looking. He must be a complete fame whore or a loser of unspecified type to put up with Amber. The making her coffee scene tells all. He will be tending to all Amber’s care and feeding soon as well as for James if she ever gets visitation.  I will bet money she paid for his flight to Indiana. 
 

NuMatt aka Andrew should refuse permission for James to be filmed. That will cook Amber’s goose.  Or will give her more crying scenes.  It may send her over the bend. Do it!

Maci - are the public schools that bad where they live?  I thought gram and gramps were going to pay for private school.  This train won't run forever and they have 2 other kids.  Never met a private school kid I liked.

Same, @heatherchandler. There are dick kids everywhere. I raised my kids not to be dicks* - you can have dick kids in public or private school. (*Mostly. I mean, we all know kids are assholes sometimes, even our own. And I say that on Mother's Day!)

We had a great experience with private school. Our oldest did a public middle school after private gradeschool. We went back to private school for high school, because the education and personal attention was so much better at private, at least in our district.

I don't know why Maci wouldn't take the opportunity for Bentley. I could see, perhaps, that that might set a precedent for the other two kids, but, hey, if I can afford private school, Maci can. We pay more than what Maci insinuated they would pay in her neck of the woods. I don't make nearly as much money and never have, but I make sacrifices to pay for private school, and now, private college for the oldest. Thank goodness for scholarships!

It's really unfortunate that Amber is surrounded by enablers (Gary and Kristina, MTV, her brother, whatever Matt she's on at the moment). At the rate things are going, she's just going to keep spiraling downward.

I thought it was beyond ridiculous that Gary drove her to the airport to pick up Belgian!Matt. She didn't want to draw attention to herself so she sat in the car with the MTV crew filming everything? Ok. I think Amber just doesn't like to drive because she's a) lazy and b) on drugs most of the time.

I think it's highly unlikely that Belgian!Matt has a job. And he probably doesn't spend much time with his kids either. That's why he was more than happy to drop his whole life to go hang out with a crazy, violent reality TV star in another country.

Thank you!  I really an curious why private school kids are always painted with that brush.  The kids my kids go to school with are extremely well-behaved, and polite.  It is something that the school takes seriously.  So, if they are dicks, they will be dicks no matter where they are (my kids are also taught to be not be dicks, and for the most part they are well-behaved, but yes, every kid can be a dick!).  

The education and personal attention is why we chose private, too.  

I think Bentley is a really good kid and really smart.  Considering his parents, I am trying to figure out where that came from!

I think Maci and what's his name are not gonna be in the same financial situation when their younger 2 get to grade school age.

I forgot to rant about how UTTERLY RIDICULOUS it was for Gary to be having a birth control talk with Amber and Belgian!Matt as if they were horny teenagers. And how even more ridiculous it was for Amber to be giggling as if she were some high schooler. And how even more more ridiculous for Belgian!Matt to be giggling as if he were some high schooler when, in fact, he is a decade or more older than Gary and has multiple kids. What? The? Everliving! Fuck?

OBVIOUSLY, Amber is insane and Belgian!Matt is most likely a grifter/insane/both, but WTF is wrong with Gary? If he feels like "The Talk" is necessary with these two adults who have at least 4 kids between them, why is he so cool with (effectively) endorsing this as Amber's new "relationship," even to the point of introducing B!M to Leah on Day 1?

What's the point of Gary maintaining a "good" relationship with Amber if he can't leverage that relationship to even say, "Sure, Amber, I'll drive you to pick up your new bf you met on IG. I think we should hold off on introducing him to Leah, though. He'll be here for 3 months, so why don't you take a few weeks to get to know him, then we'll discuss having him meet Leah? That will give us enough time to see whether you're pregnant yet and whether he can maintain a facade of normalcy for at least a short while... You can still FT with Leah once or twice during the trial period and you can just tell her that you can't be assed to drive over to see her in person because you're tired or depressed or whatever. She'll never know the difference!"
