  2. TITLE: White Lies CATEGORY: Drama NETWORK: Sundance Now and AMC+ RELEASE DATE: December 5, 2024 White Lies is an 8 episode drama TV Series streaming the first 2 episodes on December 5, 2024 on Sundance Now and AMC+. White Lies premiered in South Africa on M-Net, DStv channel 101 in March 2024 and in Australia on the streaming service Stan in April 2024. Set in the wealthy neighborhood of Bishopscourt in Cape Town, South Africa, investigative journalist Edie Hansen gets caught up in the ugly underbelly that lies beneath the picturesque beauty of the city, dragging her back to her turbulent past. Following her estranged brother’s murder in his luxury home, Edie’s world plunges deeper into chaos when her teenage niece and nephew are identified as the prime suspects for the crime. As Edie investigates, she finds herself at loggerheads with veteran detective Forty Bell and grapples with the crumbling local police force, a corrupt political system, and the secretive world of extreme Cape Town wealth. Roxanne Blaise as Bernice Bell, Forty's wife Brendon Daniels as Forty Bell Fortune Bell has been around the block. Formerly a detective with the Hawks, he was demoted after bungling a high-profile murder investigation that led him to relapse into past bad habits, including a gambling addiction that emerges at times of stress. Forty is an honest cop and an honourable man, but he gives nothing of himself to the world, in contrast to his home life with his wife and daughters, where he is the very best version of himself. He is stricken with guilt for the suffering he has inflicted on them, and his desire to do what’s best for them comes in conflict with his loathing of the rich and powerful, who do what they please without consequence. Athenkosi Mfamela as Peri Zondo Constable Zondo is a hard-working, serious young man who has come from extreme poverty and overcome many challenges. He is a rookie policeman with no confidence in himself. His search for a mentor leads him to Forty, but can the damaged senior detective live up to Peri’s expectations? Jane de Wet as (Teen) Edie Natalie Dormer as Edie Hansen Edie Hansen has dedicated her life to the pursuit and exposure of the truth, but she conceals her own secrets beneath an abrasive sense of humour and personal walls as high as any around the grand homes of Bishopscourt. But the day of her brother’s murder is also the day she discovers that she is three months pregnant with a baby she neither expects nor wants. Over the course of the series, all the defences she has built against the world are going to crumble, one by one. Langley Kirkwood as Andrew McKenzie, Edie Hansen's brother, Daniel and Jaime's departed dad. Outwardly Andrew is a lot of fun: intelligent, witty, a little flirty, funny. But he is driven relentlessly to achieve and to overcome his hidden humble origins. He is a hollow man who has spent most of his life faking it 'til he makes it, and that has cut him off from genuine intimacy or connection, even with those closest to him. He is so afraid of losing what he has gained and being seen for who he is, that he exerts intense control over everything in his life – including his family. Caely-Jo Levy as Olivia Mckenzie Olivia is Daniel and Jaime’s mother and wife to Andrew McKenzie. She is the daughter of a wealthy Cape Town family that lost its money and tumbled down the social ladder, and she grew up determined to return to the wealth and status of a Bishopscourt lifestyle. She has a permanent sense of life owing her more than it has given her, and her deep feeling of neglect and emptiness drives her to look for comfort in the least expected of places. Morgan Santo as Jaime McKenzie The shy younger McKenzie sibling, Jaime is struggling to emerge from a sense of her mother’s disapproval and disappointment. Daniel Schultz as Daniel McKenzie Daniel is the golden boy: handsome, athletic, and popular. Everything comes easily to him, but he cares too much about what other people think. Appearances mean more to him than any authentic sense of self, and he is haunted by a responsibility to the family name and his father’s expectations for his future. Daniel becomes very protective of his sister, especially following their father's murder when she is in danger of collapsing into herself, and especially when he becomes aware of their creepy neighbour, Robert Weber. Chi Mhende as Pearl Gappah, the McKenzies’ domestic worker. The maid may be a key witness in the case. Daniel Janks as Avi Kapilevich Avi is an advocate with his own small law firm. He is sincere and serious in his intentions, but wry and playful in his manner. He defends Daniel and Jaime against the accusation of murder and has a romantic history with Edie. She loves him for his kindness and generosity of heart, and the fact that he can make her laugh, even when she’s at her angriest and most defensive. He takes her seriously, but sees through her tough veneer to what really matters. Warrick Grier as Werner Weber, the wealthy and successful neighbour of the McKenzies. Werner Weber is a wealthy German businessman who has been living in South Africa for the past twenty years. He divorced his first wife shortly after the birth of their son Robert, paid her off and assumed custody from her, and there have been four wives since. His current wife is Nonzi, a former beauty queen, now trapped in her gilded cage. He is meticulous, orderly and incredibly arrogant. He amuses himself at the expense of other people and doesn’t care what they think of him. He may be the only person in Bishopscourt who always tells the truth. Katlego Lebogang as Nonzi Weber, Werner Weber's current wife. Brandon Jones as Robert Weber, the creepy neighbour son of Werner Weber, the author of the mysterious love poem, he is infatuated with someone in the McKenzie household. Robert Hobbs as Mackey Daniah De Villiers as Chloe Lee Roodt as Magiet, a gangster
  3. Anything is possible, as you didn't miss anything -- we've been given no additional information on the Reddit post that set this all in motion. And all we've heard about the hidden documents is that they proved opioids are addictive, and "could have" resulted in the drugs being taken off the market "ten years earlier". The details of the Reddit post, the documents, and what "ten years earlier" refers to all remain to be revealed.
  4. I agree that Higgins is more palatable when not playing the fool. But I am worried that Tucker will seek retribution for his firing. It would be great if he was going undercover, but I don't think he's smart enough to pull it off, considering his indiscreet meetings with the mob boss. OTOH, I didn't think Miss Harte could redeem herself either. I'd love to be proven wrong.
  5. Popular Fan Theory Suggests the Death of Beloved ‘Blue Bloods’ Character in Season 14 One popular fan theory suggests that one of the characters might get the ax at the end of season 14. Many are speculating that Luis Badillo, played by Ian Quinlan, might possibly die in the line of duty. He first joined the show in season 12 and currently serves as Eddie Janko’s partner. His potential death would be equally heartbreaking and shocking for all. On October 10, Entertainment Weekly released a full trailer teasing what’s to come in the final episodes of Blue Bloods season 14. At the 48-second mark in the trailer, it appears Badillo is lying flat on the ground with his gun at his side as someone rushes up to him to make sure he is OK, which looks to be Eddie.
  6. They didn't draw for one. They just had the token that would allow them to draw a scroll. Gabe is the leader of Tuku and the others on that tribe acknowledge that. Sue won a challenge but so did Gabe so Sue isn't more of a threat. I don't see Rachael as a goat. Everyone has been saying how she is an excellent social player the last few episode. Or even Andy as a goat since these people seem to think he has their backs. I do see Caroline as the ultimate goat. Hell I just finally learned her name tonight. (I'll forget it again by next week though).
  7. I am so, so very sorry that happened to you. From what you've posted, I figured it was f'ing bad. I just wish that anything I could say would help.
  8. One more video. This was put out during the first reign, and it feels something worth listening to. You have David Tennant doing his best to inspire hope. It's cool if your eyes get a little misty listening to him.
  9. That's pretty much been my take on where this is headed. In the end there will be no clear villain or hero in this and many shades of gray. Also maybe I missed something but just how credible is this Reddit lead anyway? Could it have been made by someone with a grudge against the firm for some reason and the accusation isn't true? I don't know how anyone could be so convinced of the accuracy of some anonymous accusation on the internet to go through all of this, but that's me.
  10. Meh episode. I'm thinking Probst went along with the deal for the players to give up SITD because he's as tired of trying to make them dance as we are watching him. Yeah, the slow-motion bit was excessive. The challenge was designed nice, but Andy had to open his mouth and do that.
  11. Like i said, abuse. And not just by mom.
  12. Different strokes. I love Casey Moss, always have. Can't explain why, exactly, but even in the worst of storylines, he always seemed like an actual human being and not just a plot point. I sorta love how we all see things differently.
  13. The guy looked somewhat younger so I kind of wondered if he’d turn out to be her son or something.
  14. The Chief probably works a similar schedule, and has a relief also, but oftentimes they are allowed to go home at night, provided they live within a reasonable distance of the fire station. Obviously he would take the BC vehicle home with him. What I don't quite understand, and I'm sure it's just for plot development, is that Mouch and Hermann can take the Lieutenant's exam and be immediately available for a Captain position. And suppose Pascal is happy to be a BC? They're not going to move him out just for the intrepid Crew 51. As soon as Cruz poured out the substance on his hand, I immediately thought of the anthrax poisoning some years back. How did gangbanger manage to sneak into a house full of firefighters, pick the lock on Cruz's locker, and stash that bullet? Something else to make you go, "Hmmm". One Engine with 4 on board. One Truck with 4 on board. One Squad with 4 on board. 2 medics. That's 14 people parking around the fire station, which means 28 cars at shift change, since one shift can't leave before the other gets there. Where are they parking? Too bad the writers didn't go off the rails a bit with Carver's fence job. Instead of shovels, I was hoping they would have had an auger in the back of his truck..
  15. So true. I immediately forget Chelsea exists the second she's off screen and slightly startled and completely dismayed when she reappears. She's like Casper the Soul Sucking Ghost. I felt my soul leaving my body when she and Connor started their PSA on whatever's a possible trigger for Connor this time and was heading for the light by the time Chelsea was praising him once again for not becoming the world's youngest serial killer. Though, if he's at all heading in that direction, I DO have a list he can start with, and they're all within walking distance..... Speaking of heading towards the light, is there any way Phyllis could be nudged more quickly in that direction? Though I suppose the Powers on the Other Side must be pushing her back in our direction as forcefully as we shove her towards them. Every time Daniel starts thundering retribution I've taken to remembering him stalking around town in that Big Blue Shirt that hung down to his knees, the one that made him look like he'd dressed himself for kindergarten and it brings a smile to my face.......Good times, ah yes, good times.......
  16. Tweedledum and Tweedledee are classic characters from an English nursery rhyme and used in Lewis Carroll's 1871 book "Through the Looking-Glass." Though I too prefer Tweedledumber for the latter. But apparently Sue is not a big fan of Lewis Carroll given the "I hate Kyle" montage the editors had a blast with this episode. It was the episode's highlight. And really Sue, that is why you "hate" Kyle? That was what sent you into a never ending rage against him, hahahaha. (Yeah he voted for her once but I think the real reason she hates him is that she hates Lewis Carroll fans). The editors are also having a good time adding all the "comic clown" music in the background to Andy's soliloquies too. Love those segments. Gabe was the logical choice because of numbers but I agree self-styled "I make big moves" corporate lawyer Geneiveve would have been a far more satisfying vote out. Not that Gabe was exactly modest either. Especially his ridiculous "I'll be back" comment as he left.
  17. OMG Britani. “This is bullshit, WHAT ABOUT MEEEEE???” Loved the faces everyone pulled right after that hissy fit. Sorry Friend, you’re going to have to sit and let the full time cast members have their moments. I wish she’d have been the friend of to fade off the show instead of Meili. Heather’s ego is out of control. Congrats, everyone loved the line “Receipts! Proof! Timelines! Screenshots!” Doesn’t make you the queen of the show now. The comparison to Vicki the cancer scammer is right on, both of them seem to think it’s their duty to haze the newbies. The “OG” trio all seem to have severe listening comprehension issues. Heather wouldn’t listen to what Bronwyn was actually saying and is completely making up that Bronwyn intentionally excluded her, Lisa totally misconstrued Angie’s remarks about the plane seats (possibly misheard or maybe just lying to just stir up shit), and Meredith only heard half of what Mary said (so much for those hearing aids). Plus all three of them thought Angie was saying that Gianni Versace was commissioned to design Abraham Lincoln’s plates. I hate the notion that Heather might feel vindicated in dismissing Todd considering what an asshole he is. He pretty much told Bronwyn right in front of the cameras that she needs to quit the show right now.
  18. Today
  19. "Taeda" is Latin for "Resinous pinewood". An odd name for a flower farm, but describes the trees on the property.
  20. I'll give Portia a pass on the timing for Lucas. I'm sure he would want to know asap. And to see the report himself. But Elizabeth? Unless she was trying to warn her without warning her, I agree that didn't seem appropriate.
  21. I knew Heather didn't care for Browyn, she can use her words Heather, just like you do, only better. I really like Browyn, I thought her hair looked cute. Meredith's otoh , looked like she was part of the Adam's family. Mary put on quite the spread, that lovely Tiffany blue. Well, not so lovely on Lisa, she looked like she was going to jump out of a plane. Britni is such a ding dong, honestly, the lights are on but nobody's home. The row about the bottle of wine was so stupid, I loved when Mary told her she had the floor. I can't stand them shouting over one another, I can't make out what they are saying. Omg, I sound like Todd. I'm happy Browyn is on the show, and I like the new Mary.
  22. Death. Taxes. Josh fucking up before he makes a final. In these uncertain times, it's good to know there are some absolutes that never change. Why does he do this show? Does his life suck that hard to make him travel far and get abused by players and editors? Actually, the latter did him a solid this week. They showed the one elimination he did win, but not the parts where he couldn't break the panes with the big ball, while everyone laughed at him. Rachel bringing up inclusion led to a highlight reel of LGBTQ players from prior seasons. It kinda felt that BMP was patting itself on the back a little too hard. I mean, they were pushing representation before network reality shows started mandating that, but I don't know if it counts to bring the same people over and over. Nice to see a bit of Dan Renzi. I'm guessing that was a lot of screaming during Nicole's 3-5 seconds of screen time. Mission was pretty cool. I think Derek's win being a major upset was pushed a bit hard, but it was against Jordan . . . so yeah, it was an achievement. Elimination was well thought-out . . . and the editing leading up to it had some folks convinced Cory was going to lose. His emotional call with Nelson seemed to be the cherry on top. Nope . . . he beat Josh.
  23. My personal fan wank is that Chad died of natural causes (cancer? Maybe he needed an organ transplant that just didn't arrive in time?) when they were in grad school. I don't think it was something Elliot could have tried to prevent, like a car accident or a murder. I think Elliot dropped out due to her grief but finally went back to her PhD program after 15 years, hence her being a PhD candidate at 39 years old.
  24. Twenty-four hours dancing in heels? Yeah that's crazy.
  25. Lulu’s return makes me think that ABC could develop spin off properties to create the GHU (General Hospital Universe). This make sense as Disney owns ABC, and is really into that. Several possible spin offs include: The new Adventures of Girl Reporter (Lulu’s teamed with sidekick Spinelli) Lucky Spencer: International Man of Mystery (Lucky and Isaiah on WSB capers) Mr. Quartermaine Goes to Washington (Drew’s congressional adventures) Cassadine Island (Nikolas, Valentin and Charlotte open the Island as a tourist attraction and magically grant guest’s fantasies. Look for OG Spenser to shout “de plane” at the beginning of each episode) Barracuda Tank (Sonny, Tracy and a returned Jax listen to funding requests from entrepreneurs) Lucy the Vampire Slayer (The vampires are back, and Lucy Coe is more hyperactive than ever) The shows practically write themselves, which is really good, given the current level of writing on GH. And all of this culminating in two sweeps events, General Hospital: Infinity War, and General Hospital: Endgame.
