Actions trump words. It is certainly wrong to call a coworker a prostitute because we know no money has changed hands. I think he would have been within his rights to call out their behavior. Remember their raunchy sex play has bled into their job as they are licking each other in the galley where a passing client could of see them. Their drunken behavior led to them trashing the bar in the lounge. It seems to be spiraling and Joao is not wrong to call them out.

Joao also has to man up and call out Jack and especially Travis on their behavior directly and threaten their jobs. The others can’t do it for various reasons. I noticed several scenes where Travis was taunting Colin. In this episode there was a very tense exchange where a tight lipped Colin was disagreeing with Travis in his ridiculous take on the discussion between Joao and Aesha. I think Colin is physically afraid of Travis because he is a violent and unpredictable drunk.

I am very impressed with Joao surviving an attack by a Rhino. I know it happened to me. Meghan McCain once yelled at me in an airport.

I don't like Aesha at all, right down to her grating voice and annoying as hell voice inflections. What is there to like with this woman?

I think, when Aesha isn't being vulgar or sucking/licking face with Jack, she can be very sweet.  She seems to genuinely care for people, and that shows in how she treats the guests and other crew members.  Again, that is when she is not being juvenile or vulgar, which isn't very often.

I feel bad for what she went through, but I also don't have a lot of respect for someone who acts/talks like a 6th grade boy in the school yard - male or female.

I do agree, however, that her voice is completely grating and annoying!

So here's what I think is going to happen from the "Next time on Below Deck Med":  Trevor hits someone.  He's the "redundant" person Captain Sandy fires. Anastasia can't handle the stress and they find another chef.  June goes on deck crew, Ana goes back to 3rd stew.  Everyone lives happily ever after.  The End.

If it bothers a co worker, are there repercussions?

I'm asking for knowledge. Not to be argumentative!

If it bothers a co-worker there should be repercussions, but you'd go to HR or its equivalent, not the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The reason I posted was because people are using terms that apply to workplace discrimination and that's not what Aesha is doing. As we've seen recently sexual harassment in the workplace has been, and continues to be, pervasive and very damaging. That's why I think we need to be accurate when we talk about this stuff.

Aesha's behavior could definitely create a hostile work environment.  It wouldn't be a case of sexual harassment if Colin complained about it, for example, as he wasn't the target of the behavior, however, if it makes him uncomfortable it's a hostile work environment and Aesha would most definitely be in trouble for it.

4 hours ago, spunky said:

Her behavior still creates a hostile work environment if she’s making at least one person feel uncomfortable, which she was.

If what folks are meaning is that Aesha's behavior makes it hard for some people to work on the ship, that's probably true. Using terms like "hostile work environment" and "sexual harassment" gets into the arena of discrimination and that's not what's happening here.

I also suggested covers in last episode's thread. Now that I think about it though......no other chef has ever had food sent back because it was not hot. There is more to the problem than just the time it takes to transport the food from the galley to the dining table.

I think it's her plating -- she seems to do it in stages.  So, like, she plates the rice and it sits there on the plate getting cold while she finishes the meat/fish.  I also think when she is resting the meat, it's someplace where it can cool off.   If she doesn't have heat lamps or help plating, she needs to do it strategically and fast.  She also shouldn't be plating until there are stews/deckhands right there, ready to take the plates up.  Seems like she sometimes plates and then calls for people to bring the food up.  Timing is everything.

Being a chef is more than just cooking well, right?  🙂

The fact that Travis seems so over everything at the ripe old age of 26 makes me kind of sad.

I don't like Travis ever since he came down so hard on Mila when she made it known she did not want to see PDA with two men. That is her right to make that statement as it is just as much as someone else's right to disagree with her.

Having said that, Travis came down on her so badly, IIRC, he told her she was "dead" to him. I was absolutely appalled at Travis for being so closed minded as not to accept someone else's POV. His POV is not the agreed upon POV of everyone. Travis needs to be accepting of other people's feelings and understand anyone has a right to discuss their feelings and beliefs. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and their own feelings. Whether you agree or disagree, that person should not be persecuted for their beliefs and statements as such.

I'm thinking maybe Travis was very drunk when he came down on Mila but I don't exactly remember if he made those statements before or after they all went out for the evening. I just recall I was aghast at Travis' attitude and the way he treated Mila.

Yeah it's for sure her plating, but she plates based on how she's planned her timing cooking. They have repeatedly shown her plating, in stages and only then calling for Hannah/servers. Assuming of course these complaints are good faith rather than just a story line to get Ben back.

Also not to give her another excuse but the galley on the Sirocco looks especially shitty (small) compared with other boats on both shows.

I think it's June who gets canned after a new chef comes on and Ana goes back to being 3rd stew. And then Colin quits. And we'll be blessed with Trevor for the duration of the season. Unless when Colin goes to quit Sandy realizes how bad it is for him to deal with the Trevor BS and she fires Trevor to keep Colin. Oh, I so hope. Colin is the good guy. I want the good guy to win.

I was just in Monaco and Monte Carlo back in May and I was horrified by the behavior exhibited by Aesha, Jack, and Travis.  I mean, it's tacky anywhere but there's just a different level in Monaco/Monte Carlo.

Travis clearly has a drinking problem, between passing at in a public place at 4 pm to looking a decade older than his 26 years.  Get your shit together, bro.

If Joao and Hannah hook up, after puking repeatedly, I will be forced to quit this show.  OF COURSE Hannah assumes that Joao has a crush on her.  Heaven forbid she goes the 6 weeks of this charter season without someone crushing on her and/or hooking up.   Hannah can be such a gross person.

Ana really needs to quit making excuses.  Accept the critique and then correct it.  Frankly, it could have been anyone's hair in that food - - all the stews have long hair and they all serve with their hair down.  But Ana, don't immediately say it wasn't my hair because you don't know.

I do side with Ana a little bit over the food getting cold en route, especially when Sandy stops a stew to ask a question when they're carrying food up to the guests.  This is when the ship really needs a dumbwaiter.

Clearly Ana will get demoted.  I wonder if she'll go back to being the third stew and June will get booted, as her position will indeed be "redundant" as we've heard in the preview.   She seems harmless if not the brightest bulb in the pack.

I hope Colin doesn't leave!  He and Joao are the only 2 members of the deck crew that actually work!

And as awful as Joao's statement about Aesha looking like a paid escort was, I absolutely admire and appreciate his work ethic this season.  He does work hard and without complaint.

I don’t think it’s the temperature that’s the problem, all the other chefs have taken forever to plate as well, someone is slowing up the plates.  She’s even sending up 2 at a time to keep things hot.  Also, why is Sandy in every scene?

Why is precious Colin going to quit?  He must be homesick.  Everyone is nice to him but no one is his friend?

He is one of the few people in all of the Bravo shows that nobody has a bad word to say. That’s unique.

There's also Rachel, Everybody's Friend, from Southern Charm: New Orleans. Her chyron actually says "Everybody's Friend."

I think Colin is a good egg, but I question his loyalty to Joao. Joao is a hard worker and isn't constantly puerile and base, but Joao is noxious in his own way. Joao's behavior with women is disturbing. Colin was present during Joao's very disturbing behavior last season. I know that Colin was actually critical of Joao's treatment of women because Captain Moron decided to chastise Colin for being critical of Joao's treatment of women. Maybe Joao has truly improved, which Colin might have witnessed, but I wouldn't want to be a woman around Joao especially when he's been drinking. The axis of idiocy are annoying and dumb. I think Joao is dangerous.

Maybe that's part of why Colin is unhappy. He's got 3 immature idiots, an unbelievably arrogant jumped up chef, a space cadet, a barely reformed woman hater, and Hannah to hang out with. It's not any single person, but the totality of the crew that gets to him.

Joao credits Colin as the reason why he’s back this season, and keeping him sane this season. From their interactions on social media it appears that they’re very close friends and Joao has referred to Colin as “broby” a few times on the show. Colin’s mother also appears to love Joao. Then there’s João’s gorgeous girlfriend who apparently seems head over heels in love, and he appears the same way. All this to say, there might be more to him than what we’re seeing of him. I think Colin is just over being the dependable one while the other two morons do absolutely nothing.

I still think Colin wants to quit because of a confrontation with Travis who has been mocking him all season.

Colin has been a loyal sidekick and friend to Joao and was not afraid to call him out when he thought he was wrong last season. That’s what a real friend does and it seems like Joao appreciates it. Unfortunately he relies on Colin too much instead of insisting that the others do their jobs because he doesn’t to come off as a humorless dick. Travis and Jack try to undermine that friendship and the nonsense they bring adds to stress of overwork to the point that Colin must have had enough.

When he goes to Captain Clueless she has to understand what is happening when her hardest working most loyal deckhand wants to quit. She has to kick ass and take names. What do you think will happen?

I don't disagree. I think most everyone here thinks Aesha's behavior was at least inappropriate. And, yes, the irritation with Joao is because last year his behavior was abhorrent. In fact, for me, Joao's behavior was significantly worse than Aesha's. I think his actions genuinely were sexual harassment and Captain Sandy should have said so rather than defending Joao when Colin called him out on social media.

I've never seen Summer House. I've always liked Joao because I always saw his behavior with Conrad and on nights out as someone who is asking for guidance but didn't know how to ask for it appropriately. That being said, I was really hoping that both Brooke and Kasey would have just ignored his immature games. Instead they tried to be the President and CEO of Build a Man Workshop.

Yeah that may be Bravo's company line.

But obviously they're paying the owners of the yacht to charter the boat and then sub-chartering to guests.

If they want certain minor celebrities as guests, if they thought it would help draw ratings, are they really going to impose a high sub-charter fee on them?

And I don't see them counting the tip money on camera.

This makes a lot of sense. I am just a home cook and I always serve all my food hot. I can even manage to serve all the food for a Thanksgiving Day feast hot. Of course, the food is not plated by me but is served family style.

I'm getting very annoyed with Ana as chef. One of the reasons I love to watch the Below Deck franchise is to watch the chefs prepare awesome upscale food that the guests rave about. I am being let down big time with Ana as chef. I really want her gone.

If the charter cost was $100,000 as has been speculated than $17,000 is a generous tip.

I read somewhere that the charter guests get a very discounted rate and I bet celebrities get an even bigger discount.

A minor TV personality like Damon would probably expect to be paid to appear on the show.

In fact, why would any charter guest pay a lot of money to be on the boat and filmed for a TV show which is making millions in advertising revenues and not get compensated for it?

Presumably, it's Bravo which asks them to be on the show, not the other way around.

So what is Bravo offering them to appear on the show?  A discount is enough to get them to appear on the show?

Sirocco goes for about $200k plus expenses per WEEK retail.  Not sure the cost to Sharp, and then the daily rates might be, nor the discount.

Either the guests would expect to be compensated some other way for appearing on the show or maybe they're promoting something so they look at paying for the charter as a marketing expense

The ones who pay a good tip may care about how they come across on TV.  They probably watched the show, have an idea of how much others leave in tip.

Jackie Siegel can supposedly pay the real fees but maybe she wanted to be on TV.  Otherwise, I don't know why someone who's rich enough for a luxury yacht charter would want to appear on TV.

I suspect there's a "for what they're willing to pay" involved. Reality shows are supposed to be cheap to produce and this one has the costs of a yacht and BTS crew limiting what they can spend elsewhere. In peak charter season, getting a qualified chef willing to be on camera and quickly enough not to disrupt shooting would have been expensive.
