I just happened to catch Rosie Perez on MSNBC's AM Joy, but I missed the beginning of the segment. She and another woman, who I only caught as Maria, were on after a repub congressman, to discuss the current scary anti-immigrant, deport-them-all mentality coming from the White House. The congressman, who did his whole interview first, kept interrupting and trying to talk over Rosie as she gave her opinion. He was very rude. She held her own very well, and also got to promote the Urban Arts Partnership she's involved with: http://people.com/tv/rosie-perez-why-i-care-urban-arts-partnership/

From RO's blog:

"Kent writes:  Did u expect Whoopi to be so aggressive towards u on The View? Since she slept walked thru her previous seasons."

She posted the question without giving an answer.

What's your theory as to why Whoopi was so hostile to RO? Was it an ego thing?

I think it was a power thing. Whoopi has a massive ego and Rosie was the moderator at one time. Whoopi doesn't share. That's why Whoopi always looked down on the After the View. She doesn't like Joy moderating either. Whoopi has been on the past couple of Fridays too. I miss moderator Joy.

Rosie is also much more intelligent and is intellectually curious about things. I don't always agree with her , but, she makes you think. It is a shame that the right like Fox News used her as a punching bag via Elizabeth.  Whereas, Whoopie feels that her opinions are fact and the only valid one to have. Whoopie  thinks that she is the smartest person in the room. She is inarticulate, and egotistical.

I think it's great and cathartic that Rosie led a protest. But she has an annoying habit of excusing people from justified criticism because they are her friends. Someone asked her what she thought about Georgette Mosbacher (a long-time GOP fundraiser and incidentally a friend of Rosie) getting an ambassadorship from Trump. Rosie just replied that Mosbacher was her friend and she loved her.  If it had been a non-friend (imagine eg Hasselbeck) I would have imagined the response would have been a lot more pointed. People should not get free passes because they're your friend. Everyone is someone's friend.

I'm watching When We Rise, which is really quite good IMO.  I knew Rosie was in it, but, she was just in a group scene with Whoopie.  I wonder how that went.  But, I guess since they didn't address each other they didn't necessarily film together.

I got as far as when she asked some sort of mannequin for help and I had to quit.

Well, people go into this line of work for many reasons, including a need for attention.

I meet Sherri at Foxwoods casino.  She was having a book signing.   Was there with my grandmother who already had her book. The people at event said you had to buy the book there to have it signed.  My grandmother had an extra Foxwoods bag with her so put the book in that bag.  Pretending she bought the book there.  Sherry was very kind to my grands and posed for a picture.

Does she think she is the star of the new show?  According to IMDB she is only in two episodes.

I was half-assed watching the new season of Survivor.  This season is comprised of old players.  I looked up from reading and thought for a second I saw Bitsy.  Of course it wasn't Bitsy, but, I probably would literally have died laughing if Bitsy's career had gone full circle, and, she was again, , competing on Survival for money.  Bless her heart.

Oh man, as much as I detest her, I would watch THAT!!!  (P.S. -- I haven't watched Survivor in years.  LOL)

I'm here because there are no posts (yet?) in the new "Trial and Error" show.  It's John Lithgow's show and Sherri is one of the main characters.  It's atrotious.  I watched the first two half-hours, hoping they're the pilot.  Often the pilot gets reworked and things are better.  The premise is good.  The execution is not.  Jokes?  Were those jokes?  I'll give it one more chance.  Poor John Lithgow (he's excellent, by the way).

Misspelled John's surname.

I will give it a try, because the commercials for it look hilarious to me - that kind of deadpan humor that Lithgow is good at.

I agree.  I was very disappointed to see Lithgow in such a dud.  I don't like Sherry for starters but her character is terrible!  Give her one condition, not 3.  There was nothing funny about this.  It has the potential somewhere in there but they didn't hit the mark.  It felt rushed and forced.  I will keep it on my DVR in case it improves.  It is only 30 minutes which means 21 minutes of actual episode.  I can handle that much during spider solitaire.

I thought it was awful!!!!!!!!!  Unwatchable.

And there it is. Rosie had her issues and could be bossy and forceful, but she wasn't as nasty and bully-like as Whoopi. Imagine if Rosie had still be on the show when Whoopi defended the likes of Roman Polanski and Mel Gibson. She would've checked Whoopi's "we don't know, we weren't there" BS so fast...

It's ironic that this conversation has started up in the "professional lives" thread.  It really belongs in the "personal life" section.

But of course it's easy to see how the mistake was made because, to Rosie O'Donnell, apparently nothing is personal.

Yeah I'm sorry about that. It was a kneejerk reaction to reading that Rosie not being nasty and bully-like. But you're right, if the topic continues it should be in the personal section.

I agree that sometimes it seems Rosie shares too much about her life and family, but I think in this instance she was attempting to put everything out there in the hopes of preventing the tabloid tv shows from continuing to exploit Chelsea.  The whole situation is very sad though and I hope somehow Chelsea can find peace in her life.

It's supposed to be early 2017. All I have seen is "coming soon".

Thanks, GINGER. I could've sworn Star said the show would start airing in March when she was a guest on The View last year.

Has anyone read her book? I liked it. A nice trashy read.

I think she assumes Christians can only ever be victims, never victimizers.

Candice and her ilk are all so quick to hang themselves on that figurative cross.  Oh woe is me.  I'm being persecuted for loving jesus and blah blah blah.

Well...there were too many articles about her bullying behavior behind the scenes for me to agree.  Her short association with McCall's (Rosie's McCall's) is but one example.

I'm not sure exactly where this comment should go, but isn't it funny how no one, no one, on The View is talking about Barbara Walters' "exclusive interview" with Syria's Basher al Assad a few years ago, when she couldn't stop raving about how refined he and his wife were, and infamously described him as a gentle ophthalmologist? Apparently that never happened, now that we know he has no problems killing and gassing his own people.

I had the same thought and started something in Small Talk (yeah, it's a hard topic to categorize). Absolutely disgusting in retrospect.
