In the Season 6 premiere, everyone is on edge as the foreign partners get ready to arrive. The 90-day couples face cynical family and stressful visa situations, and one new arrival has her American dreams crushed when she arrives to a disappointing discovery.

There was a two-hour "Countdown to the New Season" shown before the premiere, according to my TV listings, which I missed. Did anyone catch it? It's not on TLC Go. Here's the description: "A sneak peek of the new couples; the couples reunite for an emotional tell-all special; host Shaun Robinson gets to the bottom of where they stand now." Sounds like a combination of last season's reunion show plus some clips of the new couples, in which case I can stop obsessing over missing it. :)

No this is a real thing... you can volunteer to embed with Syrian militia and fight ISIS... but I don't believe he was "about to" do that.  

Judging by the shitshow status of that house, his Marine Corps sensibilities are long gone.

Well if the guy who dresses his cats and lives with his mom is desperate enough for a wife, it might work out for awhile with the woman who just wants him to buy her things and bring her to the US.

The 32 year old with the 19 year old from Mexico - well he has the maturity of a teenager, so they match up.

The woman with the 20 year old from Jamaica - every boyfriend she's ever had has cheated on her.  I think she feels like that's what she deserves and is drawn to men who will cheat.  Even if he doesn't cheat, he's creepy!

The military guy and the rich beauty contestant / teacher / doctor - there's something that doesn't make sense about this whole story.

The woman who had the baby with the guy from Samoa - I hope it works out since they have the baby already.  Her family and friends need to support them, because if they are going to try to make it work with the baby, the family should not try to mess that up.

Was there anyone else?  If so, they were too boring and I forget them already!

Catman will have his hands full with Larissa. Dude, she is not going to warm to your cat outfits, your mother, the one car, and your living at home. She will want to hang out at the Strip and hit the fancy shops, casinos, nightlife, etc. Her motive is money and the American Dream.

The real estate dude with the 19 year old - both are seemingly at the same maturity level, so it may work for a year or two. He will tire of her having little if anything to say, few life experiences, little depth (except the bosoms). She is here for the money. That is it. She may grow to love you or love you in her own way. As long as the good times roll. Her parents and family should be worried sick that she is uprooting herself to a new life in the US, with little to no support system.

The barely out of his teens Jamaica guy with the 31 year old bartender? Lady, you need to set some standards and get some boundaries and enforce them - otherwise, you will repeat the same issues with any dude that comes along. The dude may be mature for 20 but he is 20 - will you want to have a life with him? He seems like fun for a short time.

The no lips military guy who is 40 pushing on Grangela's age and the Indonesian rich girl with the kid and a rich family and servants - and who is a beauty pageant contest, doctor, etc. - what is her ulterior motive? Why you? Why Wisconsin - settle in to a quiet life in a place with four seasons, away from her many apparent luxuries? Something doesn't ring right. He is still responsible for supporting three of his own children and can't even afford his own place - how will he afford two more mouths to feed.

The Mormon lady with the guy from Samoa - I get a Lizzie and Andrei vibe so far - it's probably not a good idea to have a kid with someone and then get to know him. There is a lot of sibling rivalry with her sisters and it is not healthy. Get away from the sisters. Get to know yourself, your baby daddy and take care of the child.

I think he is paying child support for just the 11-year-old.  The others are over 18.  In my state support for one child is 20 percent of net (not gross) income.  But these guys always act like half their money is being taken.

What sort of job does Eric have? I have no idea what rent in that part of Wisconsin is - for a decent apartment here you are looking at around $1000 or so for a one-bedroom. A newer 2 bedroom about $1500 or so. And some places much higher. How little does he make or what kind of debt does he have in that he cannot afford his own place?

Did anyone else notice that Eric’s room mate/daughter was carrying a holster with a gun on her shorts, Step mum better watch herself. It was all very reminiscent of David poor, the daughter paying rent and bills because he can’t and the other daughter probably will have abandonment issues with crap about child support. Something is fishy in the milk because an accomplished woman doesn’t leave her lifestyle for that badly decorated starter apartment.

When he was at the diner the waitress said see you tomorrow so he has money to eat breakfast out daily.  Try a box of cereal and some k-cups.

Agree with others, something is definitely off with Eric and that whole storyline.  Who kicks their 19 yo daughter out for their new wife and her kid?  19 is an adult, but barely. Who charges said 19 yo HALF of the rent/utilities??  If she's really paying that, I don't see how he can legally make her leave.  Squatters have more rights than that!  What former Marine keeps his house like that?  (Mine is a mess, so not judging, just surprised).  His ex-wife seems really normal.

I take my cereal to work, with banana, and milk in a sippy cup (no leaks). Have a couple of boxes of tea and I buy one coffee every day or two.

I got the feeling he was revenge eating. His fiancée said something about his using the time apart to go the gym. I got the impression she has nagged him about his looks, including her disapproving of his beard. 

I must say, though, I’m impressed by his ability to say no to her regarding buying another ticket and keeping his beard.

My impression was, he originally purchased her a ticket but she couldn't take that flight as her visa had not arrived.  Rather than change the ticket to a day or two later and take the chance that her visa might not arrive in time again - necessitating a second flight change (thus incurring a second change fee) he chose to change it to two weeks out on the assumption that that was enough time for her visa to arrive.  Once she got her visa, she expected him to change it so she could fly immediately.  I believe he thought this was an extravagance after having already paid one change fee and refused to do it.

Here we go!  

I struggled a bit with the Mormon chick's dad basically saying he doesn't want his daughter with people that are like him.  Like.  What?!   Fun slightly OT story:  When my husband and I (we're South Asian) went to Hawaii for a conference, I was surprised at some of the nasty treatment we got.  One of the valets we struck up in convo (he's a NYer and my husband is a NYer) mentioned it might be because there is bias toward the Somoan population and as Indians we look a bit like that.    I guess what strikes me is if there is already possible bias, why pile on with your own people, bro?!

Colt is a little strange, but actually seems sweet (compare him to a Paul type of guy).  Larissa seems like a real bitch.  That'll be fun!

Eric's "I'm a patriot, but gimme a foreign chick" mentality feels weird.  I hope Lita takes him on a ride, but she has a kid, so I hope that ends up ok.   I def feel like the life Eric can offer her will not be to her liking.  Shades of Annie and David Poor.  

31 yr old bartender chick and the barely not a teen Jamaican are going to be a trainwreck.  He already admitted to golddigging his pop's chick, and his sis blew up his spot that he is trying to be like his player dad.  So excited! 

The bro-ham realtor and the 19 yr old pretty Mexican girl feel a little like Pedro and Chantel...lots of initial chemistry, which leads to misery.  He seems younger than 30-something, and really wistful for those youthful days.  

These people that go on vacation and "fall in love" forget that vacation style/mindset isn't what most of our lives in the US are regularly.  That's why it is a damn vacation.  How they can think the translation of carefree sexy beach goodness in paradise can easily translate to the day to day grind (and all the adulting headaches that come with it) without major issue is beyond me.

I don't think Colt's a fool.   You didn't see him bending over backwards or bankrupting himself to get an earlier ticket for the golddigger.   He just matter-of-factly said no.    The $2000 was a hell of a lot more important to him than Miss Brown Bicuspid.   I would guess that his cats are more important to him than Larissa.   It was funny watching her run through the "Greatest Hits of Seductive Online Poses and Expressions" to absolutely no effect.    Colt reminds me of people I know who have Asperger's Syndrome -- highly resistant to emotional appeals.   He seems more puzzled than hurt, like "I'm following all the right steps, why can't she see that?"   I expect it will be funny watching her try to emotionally extort him, not realizing that he's tone-deaf to that sort of approach.

I always feel terrible for the children, regardless of age, when the parent baldly informs them that the stranger they just met on Fantasy Island is more important to them than their own flesh and blood.    I wanted to knock the beer mug out of Eric's hand and beat him over the head with it when he started pushing Natasha to move out of the apartment.

I'm a terrible person who grew up watching The Banana Splits.   I saw Asuelo and thought "Uh oh, Chongo!"

Fernanda is too hot to handle.   Other than money, I can't imagine what she sees in Anthony Weiner.

All in all, tonight's show seemed 200% more substantial than any single episode of Before the 90 Days.

I thought people from American Samoa were automatically American citizens at birth (like Puerto Ricans.) According to this article, I'm wrong.

There's two Samoas, American Samoa and Samoa (formerly Western Samoa).  American Samoa is a US territory and (Western) Samoa is an independent country.

American Samoans are US Nationals, rather than US Citizens.  A US National can travel freely through the US and mostly has the same rights as  US Citizen.  For practical purposes, they're mostly interchangeable.  American Samoans don't need a spousal visa to come to the mainland.

Asuelu must be (Western) Samoan, since American Samoans can freely travel to the US.

Eric pointed out that he had given her more than enough warning he needed her to move out and she's just dragging her heels. Even if she is paying half the rent, it's clear neither of them believe in keeping a clean house. I think he's purposely keeping her around to provide drama. I also question how much money he has in that he can't afford a bigger place - it's not like he's in New York, paying for a loft.

An 8 year old cannot 'lose his virginity' but he can be sexually abused. Who the hell is the partner of an 8 year old? He may be exaggerating his sexual prowess, but he definitely gives me pause as well as a huge ICK factor. Who brags of bagging their father's gal and taking her for money? He is despicable.

I'm sure that was part of it, but he did say that it was cheaper booking 14 days out, as opposed to flying last minute.
