Bangs are your friend, Cate. Just saying!

She has bangs. She just sweeps them to the side.

They're too long and lank, and she doesn't wash her hair often. Or at least use some dry shampoo. Damn.

I think she'd look cute with some shorter, whispier bangs, but she'd need to keep up with her grooming and styling.

April actually showed up in a deleted scene from last week's episode. I was surprised to see her. I was not surprised, however, at how much worse she looks.

April is like a thinner version of Catelynn. Notice I did not say OLDER.

There are programs that provide orthodontic care for low income kids. Catelynn probably got signed up for one.

April did NOT pay for braces out of her pocket.

Yea, I would assume that April's kids qualified for some sort of assistance. It really depends on where you live. My husband makes decent wages and my kids still qualify for state-run healthcare. It's not Medicaid, I pay a $20 premium, total, for all 3 of them. But all doctors visits are mostly covered. Dental is another story, though. They're very stingy with dental coverage. We get $1,000 per year, per kid; but even then not everything is 100% covered. They don't want to pay for the white fillings. I'm not complaining, though, since it's so affordable compared to regular insurance. But my overall point was, if WE can qualify, I'm sure someone like April would. But, then again, depends on her state. My sister lives a state below us and her kids don't qualify for their state plan, even though she and her husband COMBINED don't even make what my husband makes. It's crazy. Back to the point - I still think Cate was probably on some type of state assistance for health care growing up.

I thought schools are closed today.

Schools are closed but Day Cares are usually open. The kid moved from the 2yo room to the 3yo room. Stop trying to pretend that daycare is preschool, C&T. This kid already had like 2 first days already.

HA HA !!! GTFO! She can't teach anything but memorizing a Taco Bell menu.

Well there ya go!  She is qualified for a job!  That's all you need to know to be a cashier there and since she's recognizable in her area she's a shoe-in.  No excuses.  Even a part time 4 hour lunch shift would get her out of the house, around people, and it's actually a pretty fun and fast paced place to work during peak times.

From those screen grabs, it looks like April got some new teeth.

Also, in the clip, Tyler mentions that bought their first house for $65,000, put $15,000 into it, and sold it for $130,000.  Seriously, that's a pretty good flip profit.

Her hair actually looks fairly healthy for having so much color in it.

The makeup is fun, I suppose. I love to play with makeup. If it's giving her confidence, good for her. But I think it's a bit much. She's never really worn much before, so maybe she'll settle in and find her groove.

They don’t have to “work” while they’re making 300 grand on tv. But the future looms large. I think she’d enjoy what she did in her first job. She worked in some small clothing store or something. A place to talk to people and get out of the house. Nothing wrong with keeping a part time job to have a resume. Even if they are all in cash on their house you still need quesadilla money when it’s over. Or how about a nice school for Nova since they’re in a not so great town (right?)?

I like her hair.  The eye makeup is iffy, just depends.  The lip color and over drawn lips get a big 'no' from me.

I"m not so big on the hair but I love that she's taking an interest in her appearance and experimenting with it.

I'm glad to see Cate doing something with herself but this seems extreme.  She went from being greasy and unshowered to slathering on tons of make up.  Really compared to how she used to be, a daily shower and hair washing would be plenty.  It just seems like such an extreme turn around that she may not keep up with it.

April has had those new teeth since the infamous castle wedding or whatever that shit was supposed to be.

Truth.  I wear longish bangs.  Those get greasy even if you have clean hair!  A spritz or two of dry shampoo keeps things looking good.  Of course, Cate would discover the product and use it as an excuse to take even fewer showers, so...

I think she's just playing around with thher makeup. At least she's not having plastic surgery and blowing up her lips.

She has likely had a consultation about plastic surgery, but was told she needed to stop smoking weed and cigarettes and lose some weight before she goes under the knife. It is not unheard of for doctors to require this of risky patients.

I appreciate Tyler's concern for Cate to stop smoking before trying to conceive. There's plenty of woman who smoke while pregnant and without this input I'm CERTAIN Cate would be one of them.

Cate smoked during her pregnancy with Nova. I wonder why the sudden change in their attitude?

Was Tyler pushing her to stop smoking cigarettes AND weed or just cigarettes?

Oh hell no! A teacher?!?!?!

Ok, I took a minute to breathe and realized she cannot tarnish my great profession.

There is no way she will pass the drug tests we take! Also, schools are tobacco free, so she cannot smoke during the work day. I also don't see her getting up at 5-5:30am Mon thru Fri. Let's be real: she'd never pass the grammar content on any test, which is prob 50% of teaching.

She clearly demonstrated, in writing, that she has done zero research about what becoming a teacher requires! It is probably her passion project for the next 48 hours.

The education/credentialing/student teaching practices for future teachers goes into three categories, regardless of the state.

-Pre-School credential

-K-8 credential

-9-12 credential

She cannot teach "Pre-School to 8th grade" unless she goes through two separate post-BA credentialing programs and passes a shit ton of licensing exams. That would take more time than it's worth. Those two "categories" don't overlap at all.

I can guarantee that I would never be hired to teach Pre-School and I am credentialed K-12 in Calif in two subjects!  I also went back to school, after earning my initial credentials, and earned a Mild/Mod SpEd Cred too, but I would still never be eligible to teach Pre-School.

Sorry for the rant, but this really hit a nerve with me. Liars and people with horrible grammar can suck it.

@Bridget not much to worry about.  That tweet was from 6 1/2 years ago.  Just another of  cate’s pipe dreams that get forgotten as soon as she tweets them.

I seriously just let out THE biggest sigh of relief - you have no idea! Thanks for the timeframe reference. I will sleep so much easier tonight!

I'm sorry to destroy everyone's career plans for Cate but I think she could be a stripper or escort even less than I think she could be a preschool teacher or waitress. Someone would have to want her so bad that they'd pay.

I should root for her with a “good for her” but she doesn’t need to go to Sierra Tucson for quality treatment. She can do CPT, PE, EMDR and/or TF-CBT (evidence-based PTSD treatments) near her home.  Running off to a luxury resort instead of balancing her real-life responsibilities along with her treatment...  I just don’t know.

@CofCinci- was it you who thought she may have met a guy at rehab? I'm beginning to wonder that myself.

Yep. I still believe.

I fear that she will stop and start with this just like she does with most things. Still, *maybe* her willingness to be away from Tyler even for a few weeks is a good sign? I really doubt that 5 years ago she'd have spent even 2 weeks out of his sight willingly.

I know! I'm a teacher too, in NY elementary school certification is called Common Branches, then grades 7-12 in the subject matter you're teaching. So there's all your ed requirements, content requirements, background and fingerprinting (ahem!). So I am an M.S. Ed with 12 credits above my masters (special ed). And let's assume she can put down the fork and the bong and do it. I don't know about Michigan but NY is a terrible place to be a teacher- horrible conditions even if you can find a job. But sure, the kid goes to daycare and it looks like fun to play with the kids so I'll just poof! be a teacher.

And what happened to "social working"?

O thank God, just another "passion project" she forgot she was passionate about.

Yeah, like...I don't doubt that she probably needs that much inpatient to sort out all the stuff she likely has going on...but the coming home and going back is weird.  Here's to hoping they knock some damn sense into her and she dumps Tyler.

She most likely has not yet engaged in an EBT (evidence-based treatment), so technically she hasn’t started/stopped.  What she has done in the past wasn’t therapy, per se.  It was detox/early recovery skills and medication management. Now she is ready to roll up her sleeves and begin trauma work. I don’t start an EBT around the holidays. I’m sure her clinicians wouldn’t either.  Also, I wouldn’t start an EBT for PTSD without her substance use disorders being in a sustained remission.  Right now is the perfect confluence of protective factors for Catelynn to be successful.
