I knew Jed wasn't staying, it was a feeling. They will run out people willing to sit in that seat soon. Sherri, ugh.mute, mute, mute Nichole  was too smart for this show. I'll guess we will see how long MM lasts..

Jed wasn't under Whoopi's thumb? I don't know, but they do need a conservative or two who are good at a table and don't think they need to monopolize the conversation. Meghan for example thinks she is the one conservative. I'm not sure that's true. If you mean a bit on the crazy side of right wing, maybe.

I have no idea, besides she isn't on any more..so,who cares. Ann Curry is on next week, that should be interesting, she is a step above them all at this table :)

I may be one of a few who wouldn't be disappointed if Whoopi left.  I love her as an actress, but sometimes listening to her five minute, inarticulate rants can be difficult.  I also think if Meghan wasn't so defensive all of the time, she would fit in nicely. Today's panel was nice, I could live with that, with the addition of Sara.

Paula looks kinda frumpy in comparison.

Joy's little crystal barbell is a knife rest, right?

Yes!!!  I was wracking my brain trying to remember what the heck it was!  And, considering that Joy said she had 12 of them, that makes complete sense.  (I actually wish I had those - I HATE when my tablecloths get all sloppy from people putting their dirty knives down!)

There was someone earlier who mentioned table manners and resting your knife on the plate.  I did find it funny how Meghan didn't want to touch it like it was a sex toy.

I laughed when MM was saying how she thought Justin was releasing a country album after she mentioned the names of the songs. This might be surprising, but I think she does a lot better when Joy is the moderator as oppose to Whoopi. And she's been cooling off on being super defensive over everything and just letting her own opinions stand. While I don't agree with everything, I do think she's doing better now than before so I'm happy.

Yvette was great and I always enjoy Paula when she's there, so I thought today's episode was fine.

I don't think Janet Jackson has been suffering since Nipplegate. Her career seems to be pretty robust.

After that happened her career definitely took a hit. She was banned from pretty much everywhere and had to release an apology about it. If you're a Janet fan, it was pretty annoying to see her career take a hit while Justin's career flourished. I wasn't even a fan of hers, but Justin has always rubbed me the wrong way. He got popular bashing Britney and then pretty much pushed all the blame on Janet for this....plus, as a kid, I was a JC fan and not his so I was also frustrated that he had a career and JC didn't.

Her career is better now, only because it's been so long since she's been out there.

I like to think of The View as going-out-to-brunch-with-friends conversation. I'm into politics, so I like Hot Topics. But here's the thing (channeling Whoopi) about Meghan. I do have friends (and relatives) who are Republicans and conservatives, but I've never known anyone who sits around the restaurant table and starts every conversation with "As A Republican"(tm). Everyone else is like "What looks good?" and "love your purse" and "did you lose some weight?" -- and Meghan is the one verbally abusing the waiter for wearing a "Give Peace a Chance" button.

I've been reading here first to know what Meg-meltdown to anticipate before I watch the show. I have a few on my DVR that I've been dreading watching. She is taking away from my enjoyment of the show. She's not pleasant to watch most days. And I'm still pissed about her uncalled-for rudeness to my Senator, aka the Minority Whip of the United States Senate.

It's not her politics that are objectionable. It's her attitude.

Count me in as not being disappointed if she left.  She annoys me no end when she pontificates on a subject like her opinion is the only important opinion at the table.  She listens to everyone and then says, "OK, but here's the thing...."  And half the time, I can't make heads or tails out of what point she's trying to get across.  And of course, if she'd leave, I wouldn't miss hearing "Welcome to The View" a bazillion times.

That describes Meghan in nutshell.   It is possible to present conservative beliefs without being so obnoxious about it.  She just always seems to be itching for a fight.   Always so defensive.   And with her so adamantly proclaiming herself to be a conservative I'm thinking the lady doth protest too much.

No, Sunny agreed with Meghan that abortion was murder. I thought they all handled the subject very well. It was Whoopi that asked the table( as she's done before( if they wanted to continue) and they did not.

What Whoopi said about coat hangers being used, reminded me of my grandmother, who lived near a woman that performed abortions that way.I was far too young to understand, but have always been pro choice.

I thought she was perfectly clear, she's pro life, but understands that this should not be legislated.

Do any of them? They are there to talk.

On 1/18/2018 at 6:22 PM, JBC344 said:

Meghan was saying that she is pro life, considers it murder, and wishes that abortion was ILLEGAL.

She understands why it is legal but disagrees with it.  That is why she kept saying she is so scared to talk about it, but apparently is incredibly passionate about it.  MM assumed Sunny disagreed with her but what Sunny was trying to say is that she does consider it murder and if the laws were changed to make abortion illegal Sunny would be perfectly fine with that.

Actually, Meghan said both, which was why Joy wanted to ask her a question, I think (which was put off until after the break, and then after the break, Whoopi said the table had decided to move on to the next topic). At first, McCain said she was anti-abortion, but it should not be legislated. Later, she said she was against abortion and that it should not be legal.

Generally speaking, when pro-life people talk about whether or not abortion should be legal and they say it shouldn't be legislated, what they're saying is that it shouldn't be legislated against. In other words, they're generally personally pro-life, but it's not a political issue for them. I think Meghan just had a brain fart the first time, because the second time she made it clear she thought it abortion should not be legal.

Sunny changes her mind on the legality issue, depending upon the day. She tried to weasel out of it, yesterday with her whole blah-blah on "whatever the law says." It wasn't too long ago on this show that she said something (to Whoopi, I think) about how although she'd always been pro-life, she was coming around to more to the position of being personally pro-life but legally pro-choice, but wasn't all the way there yet (this is a very broad paraphrase).

Depends on when you're talking about and in which province. There were no legal abortions on P.E.I. from the early 1980s until last year.  Link.  Also, a D&C isn't the only termination procedure, and is not always the optimal procedure to use, depending upon a number of factors.

On Thursday's show, I LOVED Yvette Nicole Brown in the discussion of Stormy the porn star.  Meghan tried to interject that the story was in InTouch magazine, which was sued by Blake Shelton for printing a rumor about him.  YNB jumps in to say, no this is different, it's not a rumor, it's an interview.   She seemed smart and quick on her feet, ready to make a point that disagreed with MM.  I am really impressed by Yvette, I have mostly known her for playing a funny, ditzy character on Community.   I liked the way she expressed her opinions, saying what she believed without putting anyone else down or getting defensive.  she'd be great as a permanent host.

YNB has been on the top of my popularity poll since she co-hosted with Jeff, the guy from Survivor, on his short-lived talk show.  She was so smart & funny.  I was sorry to see that show cancelled.  Then, she was on The Odd Couple with Matthew Perry & Thomas Lennon which, I thought, was hilarious.  Unfortunately, it was also cancelled, but I'm sure it had nothing to do with her contribution.  She's currently on The Mayor, which I've never seen ... unfortunately, it too, is going south.  She's SO good & SO smart, I can't believe she can't lock onto something that's successful.  Just sayin'.  (P.S. -- I don't think she'd be up for a move to New York City because of her family responsibilities.)  I'm glad to hear she's in a relationship!!!

I still believe that they are auditioning different people for the co-host position. Yes, I know Sarah is temporarily gone, but can’t they chew their gum and walk, too?! It’s completely plausible that although Sarah is gone and they have to have a fill-in for her, they’re also auditioning possible new co-hosts to replace a certain somebody. Just sayin’. I could be completely off target, of course.

That may be but there is a paper trail.  The WSJ found the payment from a dummy corporation created by Trump's attorney.  The salacious gossip is not the story; the money is.  Sorry, Meghan.

All my BFF's are saying that MM has to go in favor of someone like YNB or Ana who are smart, beautiful, and witty. And polite to guests.

Yvette was wonderful on Community --so much so that I got the Dvds for my adult son to watch it with me and we still quote it to each other--and on The Odd Couple where she looked awesome and younger.

The View had good guests this past week, and I hope future guests aren't repulsed by MM's bitterness. Durbin and Wolff were awesomely gracious in spite of her vitriole.

It's getting so bad that I dread watching the View because MM is so nasty. It brings me down. All my BFFs also are tired of the labeling that MM starts every sentence with,  and just want adults on an adult show.

I know I say this every week but I am sick and tired of MM thinking she is the all-knowing.  Take away her parent's money and give her $1000 and put her on the street and she could not cope.  She has no idea how most of America lives.

I’d fear they’d get rid of Sunny before anyone else. Whoopi clearly doesn’t respect her and tbh Sunny has no one intellectually equal on the panel to spar with anymore. Jedi and her had a great rhythm that is missed imho. I constantly feel like Sunny is dumbing herself down to “fit in” ..... remember BW constantly talked down to her audience.

My dream preference would be Whoopi and Meghan fired, Joy becoming the moderator, and both YNB and Ana as official co-hosts. But being realistic, I'd just be grateful for them to replace Meghan with Ana or YNB.

I think that Sunny is very intelligent and her takedown of Megan was a thing of beauty. That is proof enough for me that she is capable of giving out, cogent, nuanced, explanations about complex issues. Megan is incapable of doing that.   I too miss that the Sunny/Jed dynamic.

I don't think Yvette Nicole Brown would want to give up a lucrative TV-acting career for "The View."    Also, Ana might be doing better financially, geographically and politically just as she is.

"The View" ties people down to a 4-day-a-week gig (granted, it's just a couple of hours).    Although I DO agree with all your BFFs.

She does seem rather naive and sheltered at times, but makes up for it with her knowledge of the law and government.  Plus she is the only one who actually comes prepared (i.e. has read the book or researched the material before the show).  Sara does too, but it seems everyone else waits until the 9am meeting to get their talking points.

Chiming in to say that I agree that Ana fits the bill and is perfect for the conservative seat.  She's able to retain her conservative viewpoint, but isn't afraid to look at issues from all sides and evaluate fairly without being party specific.  Plus, she has great humor and compassion - both values that MM can't or won't bring to the table.  It's just that darn Miami thing...

Yvette was a nice surprise to me.  I know virtually nothing about her since I don't watch any of the shoes she's been associated with, but she was impressive sitting at the table this week.  Sadly, though, she doesn't represent the conservative view so probably isn't who TPTB would want to fill the end seat.

Which brings me to re-upping my call for Tara Setmayer, who checks ALL the boxes.  Conservative Republican, accomplished, media savvy, credentialed, involved, smart, attractive, interesting, and the added plusses that she's already a Contributor to ABC News and just happens to live in NYC.  She's previously guest-hosted on The View, and I'd love for ABC to bring her back again during Sara's leave and give her another look-at potentially for MM's chair.  Please, ABC...please!

Not to me.   I think she's very intelligent and educated.  This is type A Sunny. Come on.  I think the transition out of prosecuting was more than she anticipated.  And the remember the backlash in the beginning, she was dogged unmercilessly, for nothing.  All she would do is identify herself and her background so ppl would know she knows of what she speaks.  Course she doesn't need to do that anymore, but might be hard to stop.  Plus that she's not practicing for the most part, she probably can't keep up with law annals and stuff that she had to keep up with then, not so much now

Well, actually they do.  If you're on the ABC website, there's  "Contact Us" option on the page bottom.  You enter your own e-mail info and are asked for your comment or suggestion, which I enthusiastically supplied.  Sure 'nuff - just a few hours later I had a lengthy response from ABC.    Here's the pertinent part of it:

Well, actually they do.  If you're on the ABC website, there's  "Contact Us" option on the page bottom.  You enter your own e-mail info and are asked for your comment or suggestion, which I enthusiastically supplied.  Sure 'nuff - just a few hours later I had a lengthy response from ABC.    Here's the pertinent part of it:

So...........why did they ask?  LOL

Well, I can understand the Legal aspect.they have to make sure everything is legit, signed off on.  I like that contact us by email idea.  That means even if they dont listen, they had to have read it so the seed is planted....the more seeds planted....

How long it’s been since she’s been a “practicing” lawyer is a good thing to consider. Again, not much info online but could still play a very large role in her day-to-day opinions on the show. Still, when she was a panelist on other networks, Sunny was sharper and more on her game...

I did think abt that too.  Not sure how long its been, but say she left to raise a family, thats about 13ish years.  Or could be a case of once bitten, twice shy.

Taking response to Sunny’s thread.
