I know with Thanos being the Big Bad there's no way to keep the Guardians of the Galaxy out of this, but I admit I wish they could have stayed on their own for a few more films.  The tone of those movies seem different enough that I wonder how they'll fit in with the Avengers.

I think Thor Ragnarok was the bridge. It was even more goofy than the Guardians movies and it had two Avengers in it.

  • Love 2

I think that's where half the fun is going to come from!

I'm looking forward to Peter explaining Earth to his fellow Guardians (I presume this is his first time back) and I'm really looking forward to Earth meeting aliens that don't look like them. Thor was easy to accept but Gamora or Rocket or Groot will be quite different. I can't wait to see Natasha meet Gamora and Nebula and Valkarie and all them meet the Dora Milaje. How about Shuri and Tony in a lab together?

I'm almost counting the day!

  • Love 7

Yeah, I am super excited to see how all these stories with their desperate tones, styles, and characters will all come together. Guardians is certainly wackier than a lot of the MCU, but I think they still fit in well enough together, so that it wont be jarring, it will just be fun. They have spent a lot of time showing how all these different stories are combining with each other, and seeing them together is going to be awesome, and very earned, I think.

I mean, you have Natasha in her dramatic spy narrative meeting Rocket they talking alien raccoon with an itchy trigger finger, you have science hero robot builder Tony meeting magic user with a sentient magical cape Doctor Strange, you have alien Norse god who controls weather Thor meeting normal kid from Queens who happens to have spider powers Peter, thats gonna be my jam.

See, I want all these fun quirky moments between the characters, but with there being so many characters, I think there’s going to be less moments and more action.

I would love a movie where we only see all the supers do normal things. All of them hanging out at the Avenger compound doing nothing but watching movies and playing games but that’s obviously not what Infinity Wars are going to be.

What do you think the running time of this movie is going to be. Think its going to be the longest yet?

One of the things I've always appreciated about these Marvel movies is that even though they must serve as a larger storyline and most of them have an enormous cast, the fun quirky and awesome moments are still there. They might be small, they might be background events you have to catch on the second viewing but they're always there. We are 19 movies into this universe and while some have definitely been better than others, none of them have been a flat mess. I'm putting my face in the production team and the fact that they need this to go well just as badly as we do. It's one thing if DC Comics can't ever seem to get it together with their movies aside from Wonder Woman, it's another if Marvel falls on their face with their crowning moment.

That's actually my favorite aspect of Age Of Ultron.

That brief bit, early in the film, of The Avengers just partying and hanging out before all hell breaks loose.

I wouldn't worry...Marvel doesn't sacrifice character interaction, moments, beats for action.  Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is proof of that.

This is going to be a fantastic mess of a movie and I cannot WAIT.

And by mess I mean it's just a lot of story and interactions for a movie. But I trust the Russos, I still re-watch parts of Civil War regularly because their character beats are so spectacular. They can encapsulate the essence of a character with one line ("He killed my mom" or "Vengeance has consumed you. It's consuming them. I am done letting it consume me."). As long as the movie has moments that connect like that I'll be happy.

Also the movie just looks really fucking crisp. Like hi-def 4K blu-ray IMAX type shit. I'm here for it.

"So we're using our made up names?"

They can have all my money. Seriously all of it. How on Earth can I possibly wait until April 27th to see this? I think I might just buy several tickets to several shows that we can because one viewing will absolutely not be enough. I'm jumping out of my skin that Gamora is doing the voice over and that Cap and T'challa are shaking hands and that Peter's introducing himself to doctor strange and just a thousand other things. Plus I really really really cannot wait to see Peter and Cap meet. Because Cap's head might explode.

Omg, soooo excited!!

Cineplex needs to get their shit together in terms of advance ticket sales. Only one theatre so for in the GTA offering tickets, COME ON Cineplex, do better.

ETA: yeah, we complain we get results. Courtney Park has advance tickets on sale now, woohoo! Although still mad that Cineplex gotta push 3D screenings more than IMAX screenings. Lame Cineplex, lame , you can't make me watch in 3D (who am I kidding, the timings are better for the 3D screenings so I will break down and get those ones, in protest though)

Cap is so dead. But you know if they're going to kill Cap this is how you do it. Going hand to hand with someone try to kill half the universe? That's how a hero goes out.

I'm not ready though. I don't want to be crying in the theater, I'm an adult!

Holy crap does the fight in Wakanda look epic. I LOVE those camera angles.

GAH IS IT APRIL YET???

I think Civil War did ok with a few characters...but overall didn't service them all. Hawkeye, Spidey and Ant-man for example.

Civil War was supposed to be about Captain America, yet all the characters in Steve's immediate orbit (Natasha, Sam, Bucky, Sharon, Clint, Wanda, Scott) were severely ill served by shoehorning Tony's incessant manpain into the film.

What the MCU needed, instead, was a third Avengers film sandwiched somewhere between a genuine third Cap film and Ragnarok. But Disney wanted to unnecessarily rush things while also keeping RDJ/Tony the focal point of the MCU, which made Civil War a real mess when it came to character development.

Has Hawkeye ever been serviced well? Even with an entire backstory devoted to him Ultron I still didn't care. He's not a well-developed character at all. Spidey and Ant-Man were just extended cameos IMO.

It really doesn't bother me that Civil War wasn't a film with less characters or no Iron Man, so much of Cap's character is about being leader of the Avengers. And one of the highlights of that is his relationship with Tony.

Dear lord, so much is happening, I am losing my mind. Just a trailer is causing me to want to flail about all over the internet, how am I going to handle the freaking movie?!?!

My Head: "Wow, this movie seems like it will have a lot of great action, suspense and character dynamics. I hope that it manages to combine all those elements into a successful narrative that brings these many desperate stories together."

My Heart: "OH MY GOD EVERYBODY GONNA DIE HEAD FOR THE FREAKING HILLS EVERYBODY'S GONNA DIE AND THERES GONNA BE TEARS GET AWAY FROM MY BELOVED CHARACTERS YOU MONSTERS OMG!!!"

I already love Tony and the Guardians meeting up. "Lets talk about this plan of yours: I think its good...except it sucks." Tony's gonna have to deal with not being the biggest smart ass in the room for awhile.

However, the moment that got the most chills from me, even more than the many scenes of everyone in all kinds of trouble? "He can wipe out half the universe with his fingers. If he gets all the infinity stones, he can do it with the slap of his fingers. Just like that." *snap*. Oh, I think I might have an idea as to how this movie ends...brrrrrr.

  • Love 11

Peter is already so much fun.  Meeting Dr. Strange and his face as he watched Quill tell Stark his plan sucks are made of win.

Since they specifically kept Stark separate from Rocket and Groot in the trailer I'm betting those introductions are going to be epic and they want to keep it for the actual movie.

Disclaimer: I'm absolutely terrible at predicting what will happen and in what order.  So here's what I think will happen.  It seems clear that the Guardians reach New York before Thanos since Gamora's able to give some background (including what looks like a flashback to when he adopted little Gamora so we'll at least see the aftermath of her parents deaths if not the murders themselves).  I think they maybe figure out that the Soul Stone is in Wakanda (not a spoiler just a theory) and Banner goes to warn/help.  Natasha seemed surprised to see him in that other trailer so I think she, Cap, and Sam show up on their own.  It's possible that Stark calls Cap to give him a head's up before it's decided that Banner will help but I feel like this isn't the case (so it probably is).  The part that's tripping me up is that shot of Thanos fighting Cap.  I honestly don't know if they would telegraph a Cap death in the trailer, especially since they know everyone has Cap and Stark at the top of their kill lists, but it's possible they want everyone to be emotionally prepared going in.  It's also possible that both characters die (the real question for me is if they stay dead) and Cap is the one we're prepared for while Stark is the surprise.  Back to Thanos vs Cap.  I feel like maybe Thanos himself goes to New York first (I would assume the Time Stone would be a higher priority than the Soul Stone since Strange can reverse any damage in an effort to save lives or pull the same trick he played on Dormammu and make Thanos his prisoner) and then meets up with the rest of his army in Wakanda?

Even with them moving up the release date it's still sooooooo faaaaaar awaaaaaay!

  • Love 3

Omg. They’re all going to die. How do you win against that??? Looks like Thanos has some villians on his side too. Man, I hope the ladies have some killer moments. They’re the ones I think are going to be in the background to make room for all the boys, Gamora is the only female who speaks compared to all the males who speak. Is Valkyrie in this? Or Nebula?

I cant believe we’re finally seeing all these stars in one place. If they didnt tape some Marvel behind the scenes documentary, they really dropped the ball.

I cant imagine any other storyline than our heroes really losing. I’m not ready to say goodbye. If you need me, I’ll be watching all the original Marvel movies (except Thor’s, I’ll be watching his third).

I literally stopped breathing in that moment.  Like omg this is what I've been waiting for.

This movie is going to KICK ASS.

That trailer... Kill me now! I just can't... It looks so damn good. No matter who dies, they will have the Time Stone so I think that the hero will be brought back to life.

The Wakanda scenes are spectacular and get a lot of screen time. Tony and Peter interacting. I cannot wait for Rocket's snark about the two of them and their plans.

It looks to me like Thanos kills the remaining Asgardians and Loki gives him the Tesseract to save Thor. But how does the Hulk survive? I hope Heimdall survives also.

That's my guess, too. You can take some of the various clips and parse together the narrative there. I'm not a Loki apologist by ANY means but I think Ragnarok did manage to weave a thread wherein, as selfish as Loki is, he still gives a very big damn about Thor -- especially when Thor was in agreement with him about staying on Sakaar. And then when Thor outsmarted him with the electro-shock whatever that was. "You're getting to be predictable, brother. -- You will always be the God of Mischief... but you could be so much more." So, yeah, I think Thanos showing up and slaughtering the Asgardians will a) make Loki realize this is a battle he can't win (and he's all about self-preservation, that one) but b) Thanos going to crush Thor's head will probably be the catalyst to Loki giving up the Space Stone. Especially if Thanos is able to remove Heimdall and Hulk from the situation as well.

Yeah, from the clips we saw, it looks like Thanos and company kill a bunch of people on the ship, maybe everyone except for Hulk and Valkyrie (SOBS!), and then he will threaten to kill Thor if Loki doesn't give him the stone (which he stole because Loki), and because Thor is pretty much the only person in the universe Loki gives a damn about besides himself, he does it. Then...I have no idea. Maybe Thanos kills him when he has no more use to him, and tosses Thor into space, and that how he finds the Guardians?

I've watched it a couple of times. I don't think Tony and Gamora are having a conversation. I think Tony is talking to Bruce about Thanos in the Sanctum and Gamora is talking to Thor on the Milano.

From the spoilers that I've read

Spoiler

They are in Wakanda because Bruce warns them about Thanos. Tony calls Steve. Steve decides that Wakanda is best equipped to protect Vision and the mind stone from Thanos.

They could have their own little Abbott and Costello routine.

Do you watch the How It Should Have Ended videos? If not, you should. The ending of their Guardians Vol. 2 video devolves into a similar routine.

  • Love 1

Well, they've certainly replicated the feeling of reading a good Crossover Event.  Worlds will live, worlds will die, etc.

Tony's CGI Bleeding Edge armor CGI'd onto RDJ looks a whole hell of a lot better than the same trick with Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern, albeit with the technology having progressed a lot.  And Thanos is much, much more convincing than either Ares or Steppenwolf, so they've got that much going for them.

  • Love 2

The trailers reveal how the interactions might go. The section on Titan Starlord annoys Tony and Dr Strange is annoyed by everyone, while the Wakanda section is full of mutual respect. Also the Titan section is the Dirty Dozen, while the Wakanda section is like the Battle of Minas Tirith.

When are you guys getting tickets for? I have tickets for Saturday 28th for 13 people at night. But I don't know if I can stop myself from maybe going to a smaller theatre on Thursday night or Friday. I am weak.

My sister was being a reasonable person and telling me that the first time you see the movie do you really want to see it on a small screen without IMAX? And like I DON'T but I do kind of.

Well, damn, sure looks like a lot of the heroes are getting their asses handed to them here!  But trailers usually like to be misleading, so if there are any major deaths, I suspect it won't be the ones we saw in peril here (Thor, Dr. Strange), and it would be unexpected ones.  Still fearing for both Steve and Tony the most.

Great final trailer.  Some more tidbits and new interactions (never knew I wanted to see Peter and Strange.  Really, Peter with anyone is probably going to be pretty damn funny), but enough is still not shown that it will hopefully pay-off in the film (Steve and Tony better reunite, dammit!)

Best part was Steve stopping Thanos mid-punch, but still struggling to hold it together.  Great way to show how powerful both of them are, and how brutal this battle will probably be.

Poster: called it wrong.  I had Josh Brolin getting the special "and" billing on it, but he ends up settling for one of the "withs", while Chris Pratt gets the "and."  Never underestimate Star-Lord, I guess!  Also surprised Chris Evans is fourth behind Robert Downey Jr. (well, that I figured), Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo.

I bought mine at 12:15pm PST at our favorite theater with reserved seating.  The whole middle, back section of the theater, on all three nights, were already sold out.  Thankfully, it's a smaller theater (seat-wise--its a Dolby Digital theater with reclining seats, spectacular color and sound), so there aren't really any bad seats, so I got the best ones I could.

Jesus, this is going to be a hell of a ride!  I can't wait, but I also don't want it to end and for people to die, damnit!  I saw 4 characters in the trailer alone that were in peril and with every one, I was saying "No!".

I always get the Thursday show so I don’t get spoiled. I’ll go again later that weekend to take it all in. I’m not a 3D fan (imax or otherwise) because it gives me nausea headaches so I stick with the regular version.

I really hope Heimdall survives and escapes to Wakanda for the Black Panther sequel but he’ll probably be the first casualty.
