Give Meghan a break--she is probably frantic about Erika Jane's troubles: 😄

An article about McCain's comments with regard to Vogue just popped up on my MSN news feed.  The headline was superimposed over a picture of her from today's show where she's wearing what looks like a tiara.  If you don't watch The View and you barely know who McCain is why on earth would you care what she has to say?

And the irony after she was having a near conniption yesterday about Gwen Berry “disrespecting” the flag while she was actually staging a form of protest against the institutional racism Black people have experienced in this country. But she’s going to cherry pick because Vogue = bad and flag = always good. In the end, we know she doesn’t care about Black people in this country other than when it’s convenient to be outraged to promote her cause.

A lot of what Meghan does is just virtue signaling without any attempt to roll back the curtain, or the flag in her case, to examine the real situation. The military and MyFather are good, socialism is bad, the flag is good, kneeling during the anthem is bad, abortion is murder (without any thought to people who don't have the financial or emotional resources to raise another child), Israel is good (no matter the policies of any administration).  She's a moral conservative woman so she doesn't talk about sex except when her love for raunchy episodes of Real Housewives sneaks out.  She gets angry because she's fighting for righteousness.

It all feels like hollow performance art.

I also see it as performative. Meghan cares a lot about symbolism-the flag, kneeling, stuff like that. Be outraged by the number of young Americans we've lost in all these wars. Be upset there are so many people who come back with wounds and PTSD. Veterans make up 6% of the population but are 8% of the homeless. Does Meghan talk much about any of this? No, it's all partisan hackery. The constant thank you for your service reminds me of thoughts and prayers. Sounds nice, but does it really help our military? I wish she'd be more vocal about policies that would actually help veterans.

actually, this reminds me of Eliz Hasselbeck - she was all about the country, the flag, patriotism, and the military.  her big contribution?  An organization where she RAN with veterans.

I thought that too.  The two of them were/are Republican Barbies.  Wind them up and they say the same things.

Meghan reminds me of a Barbie doll whose head was taken off and then it would never go back on right. You know the head would just sit loosely atop the Barbie torso and she never really looked good in her outfits anymore. When you laid her down, the head would just roll right off.  Then you would have so many regrets about her head ever coming off in the first place. Now Hasselbeck was like Skipper. The painfully thin, annoying younger sister.

Was there a Barbie with wacky braids and other hair accessories that you could attach in all sorts of crazy ways?

You joke, but it would certainly explain why she doesn't have her head on straight!

Pretty much, only difference with Meghan is her thorough use of "my father."

There probably was! I know I had some doll that was specific for children who wanted to play beauty parlor. I remember wanting talking Barbie dolls so badly. Careful what you wish for! You might get a Barbie that doesn't stfu.

MM has time to sleep and get on her make up and hair...and work for an hour.

Pumping is so hard for her with nannies to make it easier.

But more important to post selfies and get outraged about issues.

I think all of the co-hosts are outraged at times. I know I am.

But like them I balance it with personal interests, friends, and family. And my cat.

I think MM thinks The View is her platform and can't understand there is fun there as well.

EVERYTHING is political with her.

I would love to have lunch with any of them except MM - and if she came I would say I am sorry, that won't work for me.

How often do we see MM having fun?

Today is the last day of pride month! I felt like doing a little rainbowy/unicorny to celebrate my friends. Just having fun. Let a bitch live.

She is a co host on a show called the View. She should understand when other people express their view. Which seems to be that was not a flattering look.

She tries too hard.  Fashionable people are the ones who look like they aren't trying.

Ladies she is resigning today

I hope it is true, but how will we endure the month of July?  Or does she have some vacation time?  Hopefully MeAgain will make her announcement and Whoopi & Joy will say "OK" and move on to a commercial or the next topic.  Sunny & Sara can smile sweetly.

I usually watch The View on delay, but I'm watching live today.

I hope the show isn't pre-empted by coverage of Trump org indictments, but I will laugh a little if it is and it steals McCant's thunder.

My local news announced it and said that her cohosts aren't aware yet.  Well if they weren't, they are now!  If that's true, how shitty if she didn't tell them ahead of time.

Yes, but I figure they'll be so happy to be free from her, the other ladies will get past it quickly.🍾 🎈🥳 🎉

Oh, she's predictable. She'll act like the liberal View couldn't handle a conservative co-host, glossing over the fact that it was her *behavior* that people despised about her. The thing is ABC had nothing to lose because her approach was scorched earth calling out ABC nonstop even when she had a job. Losing 300,000 viewers in one month because of her Asian American controversy and The View failing to be nominated for the first time in, what, two decades were definitely the reasons for this. They didn't care before. That's why I barely give them any credit for finally getting rid of her after all she's done to this show and the people working there.

Yep, they'll all be kissing her behind and lots of talk about MyFather, I'm guessing.

It is also odd that it "leaked" to UK newsfeeds first.  MeAgain claims to hate the Brits - I always thought she would choose to live within sight of Fort McHenry & its iconic flag when commuting to DC.

Probably insiders at The View who've been leaking for years. I remember when Rosie came back, the British tabloid, DailyMail, was constantly writing stories about them nonstop.

She still has two years left on her contract.  No matter what ABC says I would bet money ABC is cutting her loose and this isn't her decision.

A lot of times, talent contracts come with "outs" at certain points (like every 13 weeks). I know that's true for soap operas, anyhow.

It may be true for something like The View. You're signed, but they don't have to keep you or pay unduly to dump you, if you're not working out.

I can't stop listening to my own link.

I doubt very much ABC is getting rid of her - she's helped make the show the #1 talk show in daytime, which means a cash cow for ABC.

I think she had a long talk with MyFather, and realized she wants to 'spend more time at home' with Liberty (who will be a year old in September) and doesn't want to uproot and move back to NYC from 'the beltway' and go to a studio every day in September.  And I still think she's planning something big for 2024, possibly 2022.

  • Love 1

I have a hard time believing she had a 3-year contract though, as often as she causes trouble. Even Whoopi doesn't get more than a 1-year contract anymore because of how she ruined the Rosie's season; Joy, on the other hand, signed a three-year one when she came back in 2015, just because she has a good record. I think that's a lie to give McCain a good exit, to make it seem like it was her decision. The show always lets the co-hosts bow out gracefully, and of course the show has never coddled someone quite as much as it did her, which means she'lll get that treatment to the max.

That may be true but Meghan has drawn nothing but negative attention.   I think ABC decided she just wasn't worth it.

We will see how she speaks of the network and the show after she leaves.  And where she lands.

When a host and a network sign a contract, it's usually for a long period of time - with 'escape clauses' in the contract for either side to end the contract and move on. Whoopi's 'one year contract' could very well be an extensive contract, with a clause which gives Whoopi the chance to leave without penalty at the end of every season (that would be her agent and lawyer negotiating this for her). Whoopi can negotiate this in her contract since she's been there for nearly 15 years - she's earned it. I'm sure Joy has something similar.

As for MeAgain, I'm sure she did the standard seven year contract, and now they are at the mid-point ('escape clause') where she can decide to leave, or ABC can terminate  - according to her contract. I doubt very much that ABC wants to get rid of her or anyone else on the show with the show maintaining the "#1 daytime talk show status" all season long. It's a cash-cow for ABC. I think it's her decision - she will say to stay home with Liberty, but I'm sure she has her eye on a much bigger prize in the next few years.
