When my sister gave birth to triplets, I shoo'd people away for the most part; esp. early on! We didn't need these germy carriers "cooo'n" and "awww'n" over those preemies! When we did allow people in, I had them take off their shoes and to wash up! They had several episodes with breathing problems until they started school; esp. Amira in the pink! They're 14 now and about to start HS! ;-)7780674_orig.jpg

Aww they are adorable! I don't remember how old my niece was for the sip and see, but she was past the newborn stage, I think she was nearly 6 months or something

But yeah I would be worried with a houseful of strangers and any newborn, especially a preemie!

Sip and see if when you have a little party with some drinks and snacks so people can come meet the baby ( people not close enough in your circles to be at the hospital or stop by for a house visit)

I believe its a southern thing. I only know about it because my SIL ( who is from the south) had one for my niece. We don't do them up here in chicago suburbs

Thanks for reminding me where I'd heard if this before... Southern Charm. I knew it was a Bravo show...

Can't wait until Vicki throws one of her screaming fits in front of  Peggy.  Wonder if she will shut Vicki's lips?

Can you imagine?  I'd love to see Peggy squeezing Vicki's lips shut play out but suspect it will never happen.  The only reason Peggy put her hand on Meghan's lips was because she knew she could get away with it.

On WWHL, Meghan explained that she had only just met Peggy that night.

She also said at first she thought Peggy was fixing her smudged lipstick.  And she thought, how nice . . . .

What a snooze fest.  The only thing I got out of this is that wow, Jim loves his daughter and I give him full credit cause I couldn't stand the guy last season.

No.  You don't put your fingers on someones lips in an attempt to tell them to zip it.

Kelly isn't funny and she's just plain boring.  Leave your mother alone and the rest of the bs.

Vicki - yawn.  Trying to hard for a storyline when you ask your son about birth control.  How awkward.

Sorry Lydia, a vasectomy isn't getting your balls cut off.  But apparently God is ok with it.  WTF.

Thank God, Sweet Home Oklahoma was on next.  At least I could laugh and yep, moving is a big deal.  This show is so much better and relate able than Orange County.

I've watched this show since the beginning but I may be out. It's excruciatingly dull. Is it because the women have no real connection to each other? Because the "plots" are so obviously contrived? Because the women have not a shade of authenticity or depth? I don't know. But I need to break my habit of watching this-- time to start reading Mondays!

I'm fifteen minutes in and just don't care. It's like a chore to watch. Lydia and her "sex talk" yeah great you have the talk with your kids. Or more you start the conversation then through your husband under the bus. It's inappropriate on camera. Basically you were virgins. Great awesome, you are so special. Jesus didn't make sex, it was around way before him. At least you acknowledge you don't know he loves sex because he never had it. Ugh. I'm so annoyed by her.

Peggy, don't care. I want to care but I don't.

Agree Poeticlicensed!  Was never a fan of Meghan's but the only reason I am tuning in this season is to see baby Aspen, what a cutie she is!  I could watch Aspen and Jimmy all day long! On another note, I have heard of a Slip and Slide and a Sit and Spin, but not a Sip and See....I'm in the mid-west, maybe that's why....

We have them in California but usually when you don't have a baby shower for some reason like it's a second baby or a difficult pregnancy etc.

I was living for Jerri Blank having no time for Kelly's BS at the senior center and was like "she's totally my favorite."  Then I remembered that she raised a couple of deranged assholes and can't actually be that great.  If just Kelly was a mess I might give her a pass, but Kelly's brother is just as bad, so I assume bad parenting at least played a minor part.

I forgot to mention, Meghan looks great in her non-Ice Capades TH look.

Well Vicki sold wine, vodka, and other junk, Gretchen sold crappy purses and make up and Lynn sold hand crafted cuffs made from Michael's markdowns. Mayby Lydia can sell prayer cloths and Bible bling.

If I were Meghan, I would have stepped back and said this "Uh, Peggy? I don't know what you do in Armenia but here in this country grabbing someone like this *grabs Peggy's lips* will get you your ass beat".

Kelly needs a storyline IMO, hence the mom thing.

Lydia? The sex talk for an eight year old? Wouldnt it have been better to tell said child we don't need to talk about that you are eight and leave it there?

Whoever said upthread that Lydia acts like a Duggar girl is so right. That sex talk was so cringeworthy. That kid just wanted to go in the water and play. The reason they were talking to the kid about sex is because he said something about a sexy woman or something? I missed the reasoning onto why they decided to talk to the kid about sex.

I wonder if he heard it from Daddy.

Meghan looked and acted really weird on WWHL.

I've never been so bored with a season, as many others have commented.  If the Housewives franchise has taught me anything, the show is much more enjoyable when everyone gets along---for example RHONY---you can tell they all like each other (for the most part).  On this show, I don't believe anyone really likes each other aside from having to film with one another.

This was just so, so odd.

A) if it's so private, why have this conversation on TV?

B) Why do I feel like this whole thing was cooked up as a way for Lydia to talk about how much sex she's having?

C) Again, if it's so private, why discuss this on TV?

I think it was contrived not just to talk about how much sex she is having but she has Christian sex, and Jesus loves her special Christian sex, and she was a virgin when she married, because, in case you didn't know, she is a Christian.

That reminds me, does Kelly's brother still live with her? I don't recall seeing him this season.

Terrifying to think that Lydia really believes a vasectomy requires removing the man's TESTICLES!  And now she has Peggy convinced THEY (Non-Armenians) castrate their men, ha ha ha!

Let me tell you about food/meals in this American household-fast and easy.  The end.

That food looked so unappealing. Sorry. And I'm not a picky eater by any means. My fave is Indian and Persian. Also love Greek and am Russian and they have some crazy food but could not decipher what Peggy's family was eating. What was the white stuff on the plate, and why was it steaming?

I loved the, what's a sexy lady mean , talk. .
He could care less, but between Lydia and Vicki asking, I thought it was my sex ed class..
Peggy sure cleans up well, she has awful stringy extensions , I am not enamoured with Lamborghini's, and yellow is the worst colour. She's okay, better than that Dodd woman.
who looks like hell. When she took her mother to the seniors centre, it was more about her boring husband than her poor mother, she totally embarrassed herself and her mother. Tamra is friendly to their faces, and gives little digs when she's on her own
Love Meghan, Jim and the baby. Peggy, don't put your fingers on anyone's lips, try that on Vicki when she rants! I bet she bites...

I'm from the south and I had never heard of a 'sip and see' until I saw it spoofed on the show 'Odd Mom Out,' which is based in NYC.  I thought it was a northern thing!  It was funny how the main character in that show told people that they were "a sippin' and a seein'" (Jill Kargman's delivery of the line is funnier than how it comes across on paper.)   Ever since I saw it spoofed, I can't help but laugh at the notion of it.  YMMV.

Well, it looks like Vicki has Peggy convinced that she's the innocent party in all of the drama that has gone down the past few years.  I really hated that Peggy shushed Meghan.  That was rude, especially since she doesn't know the history of how badly Vicki has treated Meghan .  Also,  I wish Kelly would just leave her mother be.  The woman worked all of those years (in a hospital, IIRC), and she is probably enjoying some peace and quiet.  Not everyone has to have a group of people around them in order to be happy.  She's probably very content not having to deal with people right now.  When and if she wants to be social, she'll find her way.

  • Love 8

She might not have been our favorite HW but so much has left with Heather. The house porn (custom ice cubes and decorating ad nauseum), her wardrobe and her quips to the other women about how they handled themselves in situations. I can still laugh at her finger telling Kelly to leave the Japanese restaurant. She also hosted lovely dinner parties and was always ready to call an ambulance for when she thought that they other ladies were becoming mental. I do not think that Peggy is going to cut it as a replacement. She may have all those cars but she whines in the kitchen as (it looks like) she's serving sweet potatoes cooked in a crock pot. Yes, you keep feeding us that line about cooking for you family with love Peggy because you're Armenian. I've seen much better food porn on SOS (ok, they're Persian but their spreads were mouth watering). This show is slowing down to the end of its carnival ride. Almost time to get off.

Steamed sweet potatoes? I think this but then what would have been up with the green one...unless it was a zucchini.

Yes, sell a car and get a chef. At least when the other ladies come over get a caterer.

The opening shot was typical Vicki. She's warning her grandson not to hit "Nana" with the ball.....then she freaking hits him! That's life with Vicki. She'll act like the victim, but she's really going to get YOU. How delicious was it watching her unpack all her busted awards? Thanks, Bravo, for the stumbling flashback!

What was UP with Megan's clothing choices this episode? First she stepped through a time portal into 1996 with that butterfly blouse. But then it appears that her clothes started fusing together in the wash. One of her sweatshirts got fused with a striped blouse. And just prior to the car party a simple, off the shoulder, white dress somehow got fused to a black turtleneck. I think she needs to make sure that "nanny" isn't fucking with her wardrobe. (Her baby is beyond adorable, though.)

Bravo seriously followed Lydia all the way to Hawaii? By herself? To hear awkward family conversations? Waste of money, if you ask me. I was NOT impressed with their "sex" talk. I still don't think Stirling (or whatever-the-fuck his name is) knows WHAT sex is. He knows it's "private" and "God created it", but.....what exactly is it? I know it's awkward, but damn. Also, maybe if women wouldn't refer to a vasectomy as "chopping your balls off", men would be a lot more open to getting it done.

So now Kelly is trying to force Magda into a senior living facility. It doesn't seem like grandma wants to go. Does Kelly REALLY want her to have a "life"? Or does she want her out of HER house? At any rate, the fighting in front of that coordinator was super awkward.

I'm all about Megan and her realness. Lydia can take a seat with her "I wasn't mentally prepared at the Quiet Woman". To quote Megan King Edmonds - "Yes, you were". She CALLED Kelly. She TOLD her they were going there. No amount of denial will convince me that wasn't a total set-up.

At any rate, Peggy, your lip pinch will never be on par with Dorinda's "CLIP!" But nice try.

While many here liked to say that Edmonds was going to abandon Meghan and the baby, Meghan always insisted he was a great father.  Seems she was right.

She also said he's out of town now more than ever so I'm not gonna give him a pat on the back for the little time he is home and giving the baby some attention.

I bet Tamra curses the day she decided to pick sides with Shannon. Those two are so boring together and Tamra is missing out on all the fun! (Lamborghini party, whoo hoo!).

Meghan was totally trying to start some shit with Vicki at the party. I, for one, am glad Peggy zipped her up. Go back to your baby, Meghan.

If I were the producers or who ever is in charge of these franchises, I would tell them all that who ever doesn't agree to film together is OUT. Cause this shit ain't working!

Well, Yes, Vicki does apologize then she takes them back and says she "did nothing wrong" each and every time, so she negates any and all apologies she gives! LOL I, myself, have absolutely zero respect for people that lie about having cancer and try to scam those that really have cancer to make a buck selling snake oil and insurance, but, hey, that's just me. ;)

Yes. Vicki's apologies are worthless, because she never actually changes the horrible shit she does.

The younger brother told them that Sterling used the phrase, "sexy woman", so they felt they needed to address it. Except....umm....they never did. I never heard a definition of "sexy woman". I never even really heard a legit definition of SEX. Not that I want to on camera. But when my 7-year-old asked, a few months back, how come he doesn't have a baby when he's been in a house with girls - I told him and his 9-year-old brother about intercourse and sperm and all that. I didn't go TOO far into detail, but I didn't rely on "it's a private thing that God created, the end". Her kids, so whatever. But if Sterling knocks some girl up at church camp because he still has no idea what sex is, don't be surprised.

To each their own,  but I've never told my kids they're too young to hear something. I think 8 is a fine age. And I'm of the belief, if they ask, they are old enough to know. Okay, Sterling didn't technically ask, so maybe they didn't need to bring it up at all. But I don't think it's too young. You can tailor the conversation to fit their maturity level. My issue was they didn't really explain the topic it all, just made vague references to privacy and God.

The way those women talk, he totally could have heard it from Lydia and/or one of her friends. Every time they gather together they start kissing each other's asses about how great an outfit is or how "sexy" they look. He could have heard it anywhere really.

Well, he's working. To put a roof over their heads. He certainly wouldn't be the first parent whose job has them away from home a lot. Military members are gone for months at a time. Is it ideal? No. But I don't think it makes one a bad parent.

  • Love 17

Talking to your child about sex is an important conversation to have... And NOT ON CAMERA! Lydia and Dutch showed themselves to be two snickering assholes in the way they exploited their kids' natural curiosity on television, they embarrassed him and they should be ashamed of their stupid decision to do that. Morons.

This is true, however, it really bothered Meghan that he was away from home before she had the baby, and it bothers her enough now to mention it again and I don't think just because the guy pays attention to the baby when he is home that he is doing anything any other dad wouldn't do.  What makes people think he's so great with Aspen?
