Fast forward to the phony Avi storyline (Shalom, Whitney!) and she was gushing over how he loved her BECAUSE of her size.  So . . . ?

I have a friend who teaches writing at the university in Greensboro. She works with Avi's sister. I got a little bit of dirt awhile back.

The Avi story was mostly real. It's one of the only major storylines that wasn't really fake. The majority of it happened offscreen and on social media and we didn't see it on camera. There were lots of women involved, though, and none were associated with the show. I think where Whitney exaggerated is how "serious" they really were. In reality, I think they only went on a couple of dates. She learned about the other women very quickly off camera and then reenacted it with Donna. Him dating multiple women and pulling those stunts with them was absolutely true, though, and he really did get ambushed at Starbucks by Whitney and the camera crew.

Something weird happened with Nada during filming, though. I've heard it alluded to but I can only guess as to what it was. You notice that after the Starbucks ambush and Whitney's whole "he only wants to see YOU alone because he thinks you're weak and stupid" rant in the car (which was clearly just Whitney being jealous) we never really see or hear about Nada again. I think at that point Nada pulled away and left Whitney's house and refused to film anymore. Or she DID meet up with Avi because she'd flown thousands of miles and wanted (and deserved) answers, and Whitney lost her shit. Either way, there were rumblings of a fight that went down that same day and afterwards Nada was gone.

I'm still trying to figure out what happened at the budget motel in Indiana with the Fitness Marshall. Something outside of Whit's normal fakery went down. There seemed to be big chunks of that story that we were missing. Sure, a lot of it like her friends driving up to get her like that was probably staged, but I think there were other elements of it that were very real. IMO the less sense the storyline makes, the more real it tends to be.

Gold, pure gold! For some reason I am fascinated by instances when reality diverges from the story line. E.g. the puddles of water at the Louvre in the two pictures, one from Twit and one from someone else's sm.  It is the unscripted nuances, reactions, and details which make it interesting. Mamadrama you are quite the detective.

Thanks for your inside information! It seems like when Whitney goes on more than one date with someone she tends to think it’s “serious” (I think she believes this, not just exaggerated storylines). Also, Whitney studying Hebrew and Judaism was mortifying—if it was actual. I used to tutor Hebrew students and I was like, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not Whitney!!!!! Imagine her as a student thinking she’s fluent after 3 lessons!

I agree Whitney was jealous during the car rant. Perhaps Avi, even as a serial dater, couldn’t take a loud clinger like Whitney. Nada was quieter and more grounded and she’d come all that way, as you suggested. It felt to me like Whitney was kinda mean to Nada in implying Avi perhaps thought Nada was “weak and stupid”. Jealous, indeed.

It seems they've moved from the core of the story being true with editing and recreations to full-on fake down to hiring people for the storylines and only filming completely set up events. I wonder if at least part of that shift is because of Whitney's volatile behavior. When the storyline is scripted with people in TLC employ they can control what happens (unless someone gets their girlfriend pregnant LOL). We've seen her sexual harass people, rant at people, throw tantrums, etc. It seems like it was only a matter of time until someone decided to pursue a lawsuit or criminal charges. By shrinking the circle of people on film, and putting them all on payroll with specific roles to play, the chances of her causing extra problems decrease.

How in the world did they convince Chase to pretend like he was engaged and gong to marry this woman?  I know people will say it's because of TLC money, but from what I understand these shows do NOT pay a lot of money for on air 'talent' at all.  Was a couple thousand worth making yourself look like a fool?  When he was being viciously attacked on social media for getting the woman he was really dating all along pregnant and dumping Whitney--how did he or someone in his family not tell the truth of what was really going on?

Someone please help me to understand!

My personal theory (for which I have zero proof and only suspicion) is that Ryan went on the show to promote his business by joining forces with Whitney.

I think Whitney was all over Ryan like a stage 5 clinger, trying to turn it into a romantic endeavor and seriously undermining Ryan's plans for a business venture.

I suspect Ryan talked his longtime friend Chase into appearing on the show to distract Whitney so Ryan could focus on growing the business partnership.

I think Chase likely had a girlfriend all along, kept in the shadows, and he was doing his buddy Ryan a favor and getting a TLC paycheck for pretending to swoon over Whitney.  Chase was saving up to buy that bar apparently and I'm pretty sure it seemed like easy money at the time.  I do not believe for one hot second he and Whitney ever had any sexual contact.  Hell, even at the family yurt where he and Whitney supposedly had a round of afternoon delight in the sweltering heat and humidity, neither of them had a single drop of sweat on them, not even on their foreheads or hair.  So I think knowing it was all fake and just an acting gig, Ryan's real girlfriend may very well have gone along with it.  I believe Chase's reason to bounce after the "engagement" would have been the whole long-distance/Whitney refuses to move story line which ultimately did become the excuse used.

Anyway, that's my personal theory about what unfolded.  I never thought Chase was the hot prize many did.  I mean, he was definitely by far the best looking of Whitney's conquests we've seen on the show, but I thought he was pretty average.  That being said, I don't think there's a chance in hell that a guy into fitness and health would have been attracted to the braying, slovenly, sloth-like beast known as Whitney.

I think the entire "relationship" was a set up, not by TLC/Sharp but by Ryan and Chase themselves.

Absolutely! I think she was fooled right up until just before the trip to Paris and that she became aware of Sarah around that time.  Her very poor acting abilities  are showcased at the Eiffel Tower when she accepted his fake proposal. Furthermore, Ryan and Todd's reactions indicate that they had been unaware of that plot line.

There is no way that Ryan would have been interested in dating her although they had met on a dating app. There are instances of him looking or acting disgusted by her. One was her twerking in the background when he was videoing one of the exercises.

If this is true, Ryan really needs to go into sales. He's missing his calling.

I don't find him attractive. I am not really into long hair and even now that he has cut it, he just isn't really my type. But he seems nice enough and he's a hard worker who's gainfully employed, owns a home and seems to have a nice family. I've dated worse...

That's very interesting, thanks for posting this.  I think I'll have to rewatch this episode.

I always got the feeling that Twit and Avi met for a weekend, she fell instantly in love but  he was just using her for her money.  I remember her or Nada saying something about giving Avi money, and Nada saying that Avi thought Whitney was too aggressive.  I forget the exact wording but it was clear that he actually preferred Nada which I'm sure infuriated Whitney.

Danielle from 90 Day fiance Fame has a new gaggle of friends that want to be insta-famous. They contacted Danielle on social media, formed friendships and have now been on the Single Life multiple episodes, so Chase and Ryan seizing a business opportunity is a real possibility. What people will do for notoriety is amazing.

Actually i think it was less strenuous than that. She keeps her feet planted, gives a jiggle, and let’s momentum do the rest.

When I first started watching I wasn’t aware of the theories that the viral video was edited. But  having seen Whitney I think it’s entirely possible.

Pay close attention to how little continuous movement we see from her on the show. Lots of quick cuts.

Whatever dance she did with other people like the Fitness Marshall she was always a step off.

I'm wondering if the Avi storyline was the turning point. That may have come real close to crossing some lines that make TLC nervous. I know it seems like they DFAG about most things (domestic violence, sex tourism, poverty porn, Big Ed in general) but Whitney DOES seem very volatile. They may have decided that she was too much of a loose cannon.

Re: the Chase storyline...

I think there was some fuckery going on across the board on everyone's part.

According to real estate records, though, Chase and Sara have been living together for YEARS. (The house They showed was a friend's.) They shared the dog, and well into filming local businesses were tagging them and posting about them on social media. They barely hid their relationship so I see no reason why Whitney wouldn't have known about it.

I think someone, maybe Ryan or maybe Whitney, came up with the idea of using one of his friends as a storyline and TLC agreed and facilitated. They probably sold it to Chase and Sara as "it's not real, don't worry, you don't even have to see her outside of filming and PR stuff." But I also think that Whitney developed real (or as real as Whitney's can get) feelings for him. She may have honestly thought that he was developing them for her. Look at Roy. She wouldn't necessarily have had to "act".

Knowing what I know now, I think they all-production, Whitney, Ryan, and Chase- had a hand in the fuckery. I don't think any one person masterminded the whole thing. However, I DO think that some of the other barnacles were unaware of what was going on. They don't seem to hang out outside of filming and the occasional Instagram hostage video she makes them film. Keeping the "real" story quiet would've kept their reactions more organic.

She never could dance, her signature move was flopping on the ground and spinning around and it looked like someone threw a bag of concrete on the ground. It was awful.

Do you not remember her majestic arabesque? When she did her command performance for that performing arts display?

I think he kicked her off the team because he thought she was as fit as she promoted herself to be, and it turned out she couldn't keep up for a 5 minute video.  She likes us to think that she's the one who leaves, not that she gets kicked out, so that's how that story devolved.

I too think that Ryan wanted to use Whitney's show/popularity to promote his business.  The thing is, he was offering her his expertise and know-how for the workouts and the filming, so I have never agreed that he was just "using her" - his proposal was beneficial to both of them if she were really the person who she portrays - one who enjoys working out and would like to own and work in a fitness-based business.  Of course like the fitness marshall, he eventually learned, and once again we were treated to Whitney "leaving him" for Jessica.  Now she and Jessica have a shoddy product neither can be proud of, and from all accounts Ryan's doing just fine.  Good for him.

Chase was definitely there for the money; also for some reason people really think they want to be on tv.  I do think Whit was aware, but probably figured he'd fall for her just like Buddy, Roy, Avi, The Lesbian and The Frenchman - it doesn't seem to take much for her imagination to build a romantic relationship out of nothing.  Why I believe she knew:  rooming with Ryan in Paris, and using their free time to call Dadwe.  Even in the Lennie days we saw him "waking up" in her bedroom, but all of the sexy times with Chase were hinted at.  If he had really been spending the night you can bet we'd have seen him lying in her bed, getting up for breakfast, in his pjs or whatever.  His mom didn't even come to meet her at the yurt, and they never made any effort for Whit to go meet her, even after they were "engaged".  The only thing was that Whit was supposed to "leave him" when she couldn't move to his town.  And before that happened she was supposed to have the fun of wedding planning and cake tasting! 😏

This makes sense. I also believe that her not making any friends while in Indiana was true as well. It says a lot that she wasn't hanging out with the other backup booties or the guy himself- everyone probably learned very quickly just what kind of personality she had.

I wonder if originally the season was going to be about her fabulous time on the road?

Oh , could have been, that is a great idea and would have made a great theme for the show, but no way twit  would lower herself for the storyline...

I have zero doubt that Whitney absolutely was in on the fact that this was a manufactured storyline strictly for television. Not that she probably didn't fantasize about really winning Chase for herself because she's just that delusional, but unquestionably this was scripted. If it ever turned out that this was scripted without Whitney being aware, TLC would be open to a massive liability claim so there is zero chance of that happening. Especially with all kinds of contracts, non-disclosure agreements, etc.

And this really boils down to why Whitney's show is such a dumpster fire floating down a river. Almost nothing is real. I would say that except for a few of the health scares, the rest of the show is entirely scripted. Because let's be honest... a slice of Whitney's life would be pretty dull viewing. Despite what she believes, she's just not that interesting a person.

This is exactly right. Working with Ryan to build NOBS into an actual brand that can be positively marketed would have worked for both their benefit, except Whitney cannot stand anything not being about her all the fucking time. She resented Ryan's expertise and that he was pushing her to be more involved in the business. It was the same thing with her dance classes - the instant that the idea was floated to franchise or let someone else lead the class if she was unavailable/unable to do so, she lost her shit completely. Because in the end, it's not about building a successful, sustainable business. It's about her self-promotion.

I think that the only reason that she can have Jessica around at this point is 1) she needs Jessica's supposed expertise for credibility and 2) she can control Jessica. The moment that changes, Jessica will be thrown under the bus along with everyone else that Whitney has tried to use and NOBS Active will crumble like every other enterprise that Whitney has attempted. Hopefully Jessica isn't that stupid to believe that she's an equal partner and that Whitney values her contribution.

Average, for someone like Whitney, is a real prize. Because let's be honest here - what normal, average man would want anything to do with her. Between her size and her abrasive personality, landing a halfway decent looking, average-sized man who is gainfully employed would be a hell of a catch.
