I didn't see this posted.  Scientology is fighting back.  And they fight dirty.

Oh, their statement was a beaut.  A shining example of a church of love and goodwill.  Any "parishioner" falling for this crap deserves to be fleeced.

A new scholarship at the Univ of Toronto.

Quote

“We don’t have an anti-neurology scholarship or an anti-hepatology scholarship. Psychiatry is the only specialty that has people trying to abolish it,” Dr. Joel Paris, a psychiatrist at McGill University, told the Post. “This doesn’t make sense.”

fastiller - I like Comcast's synopsis of the show way better:

"Scientology:  A War Without Guns"

"Ex-members of the Church of Scientology who crusade against it; actress Leah Remini discusses her fight against the Church of Scientology and her goal of making it lose its tax exempt status."

...And, for the hundredth time as I've done over the past couple months watching her docu-series, after reading this, I say out loud, "YES!  Leah - You go girl!!!"  Network TV once again, and combined w/her past couple months on A&E...I'm convinced this little lady's gonna shut these assholes down!  (Can I get an "AMEN!!??"  - hey - we're talking about closing the doors of a "church," right?)

Will a Blessed Be! do?

President and CEO of A&E did an interview today saying Scientology is spamming her personal social media (facebook) with anti Leah messages.

That should convince her to keep A&E on the attack then.  These cultists don't get that people are no longer afraid of them and this type of action just helps the network's rating, not the opposite.

Basically, this is "I know you are but what am I?" and "you're a big meanie poopy-head and no one likes you," only slightly re-worded.

I love at the end how it pointlessly talks up Miscavige.  Because whatever.

Very exciting to learn A&E is proud of Leah and applauds her work. We are definitely going to get another season.

I think that A&E putting the show on marathon repeat almost constantly says that the only way there wouldn't be a second season was if Leah didn't want to do it.  And even that might not be enough.

I'm home sick and fell down a Scientology Rabbit Hole.  Something I had heard of but never actually watched is the Ted Koppel ABC Nightline interview with David Miscavige.  YOU MUST WATCH THIS.  If you don't have an hour, at least watch part 4/9.  The man is mentally ill.  It's shocking.

He talks about how scientology taught him to be great at communication then fails to be able to communicate to Koppel about how scientology would benefit him....HAHAHAHA

Someone asked Rindah why the final episode of Leah's story had been cancelled. He didn't give any details, but maybe Leah wasn't comfortable with an episode focusing on her when she's already talked about that at length.

They cancelled tomorrow's episode?  When did that happen?  It seems to just be gone for listings with no explanation.

Leah was on Adam Corolla's radio show yesterday; her segment starts around minute 38.

She discusses season two and says (paraphrased) that she doesn't really want to go through that again because it was so emotionally wrenching. She said she might do more shows if she feels that it's not about her and that some ultimate good can come out of it.

Mike answered another question on his blog about why the final episode featuring Leah's own story  isn't being aired:

^^ Thanks for sharing that link! I think that was one of the best interviews I've seen in awhile. I liked the way Conan handled it, knowing when to ask a question and knowing when to be quiet and let her just speak. For being "just an actress," Leah came across as quite well spoken IMO.

Bummed to hear she doesn't want to another season, though it's absolutely understandable. I think we might see more down the line in some form or another, even if it's not a full season of episodes. *fingers crossed*

I'm watching Leah on Conan now - my TiVo recorded it as a suggestion.

On the superficial, I thought her makeup was too heavy, and she's still sporting those talons. But I thought the interview was great. (It made me sad to her her say that she's "just an actress" and "not that smart." I don't think she's educated, but she's clearly smart - she's street-smart, as she says, and there's a lot of value in that.) I think this was the first time I've heard her use the word "cult" to describe Scientology. There was something about when she said "You're damn right they're not suing me" that made me happy. I like when she lets her Brooklyn out!

Sounds like she will probably end up doing more shows if not an official season two.  She could also continue to produce the show and have Rinder take more of the front man stuff hits since he looks up to dealing with the pressure just fine.  She could have a re-curing guest shot on the show each week.  Maybe commenting on what they covered at the end of each hour.

Anyway you slice it, it looks like the door is open and the show will continue in one form or the other.

Darn.  I just saw another ad for Bill Maher and now Leah's not listed for this Friday's episode.  :/   At the end of each show there is a ticker that goes by on the bottom of the screen that says the next week's guests.  She was listed on that one last week, but not on this latest ad I saw for tomorrow's show.

I wonder why it was changed?

This series has re-ignited the TV stuff on this cult.  I channeled surfed into the last half hour of some show my TV had listed as being from 2014.  Part of some series I guess that investigated stuff back then.

This one obviously was on this cult and had interviews with Ortega, the Miscavage daughter that wrote that book you all talk about all the time as well as the guy who escaped on the motorcycle and his wife.  They had some stills of Leah on newspaper covers too and apparently may have just finished talking about her some right before I stumbled on the program.  Also Anonymous guys in their well-known mask types out picketing the cult with some pithy signs Miscavage is still probably furious about.

It seemed a pretty well done show.  Maybe some of you have seen it before.  The History Channel is the network that brushed it off and re-broadcast it btw.  Maybe those interested can find it on their site.

If you do maybe one of you can add it to the book and media resources thread you have going.  Especially if you can view it online.

Sorry I don't remember the name of the series but if the History Channel site has a search engine it should show up there under Scientology since that was definitely in the title of that episode on this whatever it was series.  And for all I know this might be the only episode they broadcast because of interest in same thanks to Leah.

A few years back, I recall seeing something on Investigation Discovery (a/k/a Murder Porn Central) about Scientology, but don't recall who it was about.  I believe they have (or had) one show that focuses on cults.  I do recall it focused on the Sea Org ,and someone who was high ranking who was physically abused by higher ranking staff, and their escape, but that's all I recall.  We still lived in our old house, so it was before June 2015.  I don't recall it being one of their re-airings of 48 hours.

Are they going to release the last episode?

I'm pretty sure the last episode was to be about Leah but she decided she had told her story and was done for now. That's probably why we got the two extra reddit episodes. Oddly only the second one posted on line after the original airings. Anyway, they actually aired an extra episode by adding the two reddits.
