Derick would drop dead on the spot if saw my grandson's college dorm bathroom/shower facility. It's co-ed. The showers have thick curtains, and there are stalls for the toilets, but all are welcome. You can even room with a member of the opposite sex. And, although his college doesn't push the fact that it once was a religious school, it still has a theology program. So the times they are a'changin, Derick.

I've been in many of them including bathrooms.  Hate to tell Derick that I've not had any negative encounters in any one.  For all I know every woman in there but me is transgender.  to quote Fred Armisen impersonating Joy Behar "so what who cares".  I don't notice Target going out of business.  But, I have my own personal boycott of Hobby Lobby and Chik Fil A.  I don't broadcast it.  I just don't go.  I don't expect them to miss me.

So if we take Derick at his word - working part-time starting at age 11 and working full-time since age 22, why is it he's been needing to beg for donations for the past 3 years? This whole time he has been in DA he has had a full-time salary, yet he needed other people to pay his way, including health insurance? Why aren't these employers offering him health insurance? Because his employer of the last 6 years is TLC? Most folks wouldn't count a few hours of filming over 3 or 4 days full-time.

I believe the average American full-time job is 36 - 50 hours a week. Maybe the Duggars/Dillards do full-time a little different too.

What do men like Derick & his twisted freak friends that think women DO in the open parts of a ladies room?  We go IN the stall and close the door.  We pull up a skirt or pull down pants, use the facilities, then put our clothing back the way it belongs.  IN THE STALL.  With the door CLOSED.  Then we go out, wash hands, etc.  Fully clothed.  We don't strip down in front of the mirrors with other people around, admiring our naked bodies, just waiting for some pervert to come in.  

Men whip out their weenies and let it fly in front of each other.  They can check each other out from tip to toes in the open, NOT behind a locked stall door.  Do they really prefer trans folks go in there with them, or in a ladies room where they can ONLY take care of business in a stall?

That's what I thought at the very beginning...that he was counting TLC. That would almost be true...full-time school, then Nepal, then TLC. If he got even any kind of stipend for being in Nepal, it would be technically true, but I wouldn't say "full time," because filming YOUR LIFE (not even like on a scripted show where you have to memorize lines and go to rehearsals) is not a 40 hour a week job!

why can't he say something like, "to all concerned, TLC allows us to pay the bills and live a middle-class life while we stay at home with our sons. It's not a traditional 'full-time' job, so it allows me to study / intern / do whatever it is I do at my 'ministry' program so I can be a preacher / doomsday prophet / theology teacher in the future."

instead, he looks like an ass, pretending to work a full-time job. That's a recipe to get those of us who bust our butts at our jobs every day to resent him!

The thing is, too, that for the most part, it's really not entirely possible to guess what sex someone is under their clothes. There are biological females who identify as women yet still have facial hair and choose to embrace it. There are biological males who identify as men and still have a slight build and little facial/body hair, and if they were to dress in an androgynous manner, would probably raise more eyebrows in the men's room than the ladies'. There are trans folk of both genders who look every bit the way they identify and only a posted guard at every restroom door to perform a strip search would be able to tell what plumbing they might have been born with, and if they were post-op, would need a DNA test. How, exactly, do these people even think it's possible to implement some of these laws they want even if they could get them passed?
