Jessa, Ben and Their Brood: Making a (Diaper) Mountain out of a Mold House

Message added by Scarlett45

The Duggars post about politics on social media frequently, but these social media posts are not an invitation to discuss politics here in this forum. This rule extends to Duggar adjacent families, friends, associates etc. Such discussions are a violation of the Politics Policy.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss certain social media postings of those in the Duggar realm as they relate to politics- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

Well, if she does what Kim did...

While Kim did get famous for doing nothing, it drives me crazy when people compare the duggars to the kardashians

The Kardashians took their 5 minutes of fame and totally capitalized on it. They have a successful reality show, clothing lines, brands ect you name it. They are wealthy as fuck and if they lost their TV show I don't think they would be begging for money on youtube :-)

The Duggars try as they might will never ever be in the same ballpark as the Kardashians. I think the closest they could do would be a sex tape that would probably get a lot of views ( but not of Josh, LOL),

They are too out of touch with reality/pop culture/ too polarizing to ever be famous ( you really cannot be famous and openly hate gay people, mainstream culture does not like it)

They are well known for being bumpkins. They have no pull with anyone and if the Duggars endorse a product I think people would make a point NOT to buy it.

If Jessa and Ben have ANY common sense they would get REAL jobs. I hope Ben will pull it together but my hopes are LOW

With the baby arriving in a couple of months I was wondering if anyone but me thinks that Jessa will be Duggar that rushes off to the hospital for an epidural as soon as the first contraction hits.  I could be wrong but I just don't see her as doing a home birth or waiting days for a baby to come.  I don't even see her doing natural childbirth for more than 15 minutes.

Could be wrong but it will be interesting to see.  I'm really surprised she doesn't have a registry already.  It must be something super private because she doesn't want to reveal the sex of the baby.  I vote girl BTW and hope she gives her a sexy porn star name without even knowing she did so.  (As in #mancrush on her husband).

now THAT'S a "Toddlers & Tiara" name...I remember a little girl named Heaven Neveah. And, as much as I hated how that exploited little girls, I do miss those redneck mamas & their entourages, the catfights, and the (sic) "rivarys."

I actually think Jessa will stick it out and do a natural birth just so she can brag about it on Instagram in true Sanctimommy fashion.

Jilly Muffin will plant a dangerous Troll doll or a possessed Cabbage Patch doll. Apparently, those items can prolong and intensify the suffering of labour.

Moved fron the Josh thread discussion of Jessa getting busted lying about throwing something at a cameraman

Yep, that was just total teenager moment, not a "lie"-lie. It was actually kind of charming, and yes, that came from me. <<Hell freezing over>>

I might too, except for this. The link isn't from a particularly reputable site, but the story is from the book.

After being forced to share a bunk bed with her younger sister as a punishment for their feuds, Jana said that Jessa, who was on the bottom bunk, would make a habit of kicking her bed throughout the night and laughing at her when she got upset. Michelle's advice for Jana? Kill her with kindness.

“Jana, if you really want your sister to be nice to you, make it a point to be nice to her, even when she’s mean to you,” Michelle reportedly said.

In order to follow her mother’s orders, Jana said she tearfully gave away her favorite jewelry box filled with candy and other trinkets to Jessa.

“It was hard to think of giving away one of the most treasured possessions, especially to someone I wasn’t happy with,” she wrote. “I told Jessa I had something to give her. I told her I loved her and handed her my gift.”

Granted that's mostly a story about what a terrible mother Michelle was - seems like there was more than one special snowflake among the Duggar children, and sucks to be the poor kid stuck trying to raise them - but Jessa sounds like a real little domestic terrorist in the making.

So, yeah, I'd probably default to assault and not cute.

It goes to show how Mechelle takes a good parenting idea (don't retaliate) to the extremes (give Jessa a present).  I was taught that you should try to kill them with kindness within reason and if my brother was kicking my bed every night, I wasn't going to give him a bloody present for it.

Boob and Mechelle have done it with everything.  Teaching kids to be nice turned into teaching the girls to stay sweet.  Being honest, truthful and accountable turned into telling your parents every thought.  Plenty of parents teach abstinence but the Duggars took it to the absolute extremes with their courting crap.  They don't "do things a little bit differently", they completely mess with a good idea until it is laughably terrible as a parenting practice.

Well child abuse strikes again,to most giving away a treasured box would be nothing, however I bet that small item was the only thing Jana owned that meant anything.Sometimes these little seemingly trivial things cause the most hurt.

While I was away on a horse riding weekend my parents sold my keyboard....it hurts!

And when I was a kid and away with my grandmother at the Jersey Shore, my father decided I didn't need my comic book collection anymore.  It wasn't bothering him, not in his way, not that big.  Just to be mean, I think.

I remember this story, they told it on the show.  Jana was doing a talking head with Jessa and (I think) Jill.  As she neared the end of the story she started to cry.  Her loving sisters stared straight ahead and made no comment and no move to comfort her.

Her sisters could have been embarrassed and not have known what to do, or suddenly realized how crappy it was of Michelle to force Jana to give away something precious to her to placate a bratty little sister.  They could have felt that comforting Jana sent a signal that they were on Jana's side, and therefore against their parents.

Whatever they really felt, it came across as Jessa doing everything but rolling her eyes and chewing gum to show how stupid Jana was to still be upset over it, and the other sister thinking "What am I supposed to do?  This has nothing to do with me."

There's probably a clip on youtube somewhere.

It appears that compassion is frowned upon in DuggarWorld.  Blanket training as instructed by the Pearle wisdom, rod enforcement, the constant word 'training a child' as opposed to teaching a child.  Being forced to give away your only prized possession when you ask for help or complain.  Compassion for others - 'sinners' right out the window.  JB & Mechelle having no compassion housing 14 children in 2 bedrooms for years.  Compassion lacking.

I would have had them switch bunks. Done.

Yes but that would solve this ONE time. You're not thinking BIG enough, think like a mother with eleventyseven kids. Why not solve the problem with a method that ensures that your child will never ever complain about anything again and then throw in a side of emotional trauma just for fun. Also make sure the other kids know about it so they won't complain either. Cmon when you've got eleventyseven kids you can't stop for every scrape, molestation or heartbreak they have. That's just silly.

The method of "training" seems odd to me, because in the Jessa/Jana example, the child who was a brat was rewarded and the child who was picked on was forced to suffer the loss of a valued possession. It taught Jana to be a meek pushover and Jessa to be an obnoxious bully in order to get what she wants. I'm soooo happy that dynamic didn't continue into adulthood (insert sarcasm).

I bet Jessa wasn't pleased about it being brought up on TV. She's very image conscious, she's the one who pretends to be Jackson's Sister-Mom in the opening credit, she wants to look good, and I think she's quite sensitive when her bad points are exposed.

Jessa acted pleased when they were showing her misdeeds during the All About Jessa episode. There was even a clip of her face planting one of her little brothers when he came into the camera shot when they were younger. She smiled through it all.

Lack of compassion for others is a common trait I have noticed in a lot of fundie families.

Here's Benessa, complete with Jessa headshots, at the Southern Women's Show earlier today. If there were protests, it seems that these two were blissfully ignorant of them. Or they're good little actors. Probably the former. Neither of these two strike me as being able to hide their negative emotions (see social media screeds).

I thought Jessa just looked really, really out of her element (compassion). Some people are born being really caring, others have to learn it, and it seems like the only time Jessa was taught how to be kind and sweet was when her future headship rolled around.

I'm pretty sure Michelle authorizes the telling of that story. I think it's in the book, actually, and I believe it's pretty Gothard-inspired. It's supposed to be all about how the best thing to do is to love your enemies and that when you're the victim of something the best thing you can do for yourself is to forgive the perpetrator of whatever -- make some big gesture of forgiveness and then you will have let go of the whole issue. You know, make the victim responsible for solving the situation. Extends to rape and so on, of course.

Lack of compassion for others is a common trait I have noticed in a lot of fundie families.

And for me, this extends to animals...they seem to see them as disposable. Aren't they God's creatures too? Wasn't man given "dominion" over the animals to be good stewards of them? I think of all the random dogs that came & went at the TTH, various kittens at Smug's & Anna's, and the litter of kittens they were clearly inconvenienced by when they renovated one of their properties (at least those went to a vet and hopefully got adopted). And don't get me started on Derick and Catgate (the Duggars are negligent/couldn't be bothered, but Derick was cruel & abusive).

I have a completely different view; I don't have kids, but in lieu of that, I feel responsible for helping to take care of critters, especially those that can't take care of themselves. I am just shy of being a Crazy Cat Lady, but I know they get more care & attention than some kids. I help with supplies & food at animal shelters, because I can. But the Duggars and other fundies don't seem to give a sh*t about anything else but more arrows for the quiver and making sure everybody know about Jesus (even though you just lost your house to a tornado, are a refugee from war, are in deep poverty, are a Catholic in Central America, etc.). No compassion, sympathy, empathy, nada.

On a completely random note, I just looked at Jessica Seewald's Instagram. Aside from the usual anti-abortion memes, there's pictures of her in shorts, a bikini top and with a boyfriend whom she refers to as "bae." She also looks freakishly like Kylie Jenner in many shots. I wonder if Jessa ever feels embarrassed looking back on all the Duggars' stupid courtship and modesty rules.

"Southern Women's Show Orlando Thank you for your feedback ladies. We understand that not all show guests are fans of Jessa Duggar Seewald or the television show, but believe the Southern Women’s Show offers a little bit of everything in an attempt to meet the various tastes and diverse interests of our varying show guests. We do hope you are able to enjoy the multitude of exhibits, workshops, cooking demonstrations, and entertainment at this year’s show. Hope to see you at the show in September!"

They should still be more selective. Gothardism is like women protesting on the streets,  'pay men higher wages  for work of equal value', 'take away our right to reproductive choices', 'imprison lesbian and gay couples'. There is no excuse, the curtain has been pulled back.

Pickles and Hairspray has some pictures of Jessa and Ben speaking at some conference. Jessa looks nice, but why does Ben always show up with his shirt untucked and just messy looking? His shirt looks too small. Is he getting pudgy?

The comments on these pics are funny. One leghumper states that poor Jessa is missing how Jill had everything all nice during her pregnancy. Lets see.......you don't have to get up and go to work and you have a house and the $ to do a nursery. I worked till the day before my daughter was born and all we could buy was a crib. We had house payments and we "made do". She had all she needed and a liitle more, and we were grateful for what we could give her. Your luxurious life style must be such a burden.

Then there is a short video of some girl sobbing, guess she is just so overwhelmed to be meeting her idol!!

I know lots of young women nowadays who work throughput their pregnancy and come home exhausted with swollen feet. You get to lounge around all day, nap when you want to and have everything handed to you. Guess I didn't realize how exhausting it is to be taking all those selfies.

Suck it up, Buttercup.

B-but, Jessa is the only one who didn't get her own spread! Daddy said she'd get one, and she didn't!

Browsing through Jessa's instagram photos I had to laugh when I came across a photo, probably about 6 months back that said for people who are wondering this is a list of Duggar family accounts, all others are fakes, none of us have any secondary accounts.  Obviously she hadn't yet heard of Joe Smithson.

Also has a picture with the words - Why do bad things happen to good people?  It only happened once and He volunteered.  Is she really saying that all people are bad so that explains it?

Well, remember, they seem to have been taught that infants can inherit evil from their parents, and that if we're not explicitly saved we're going to burn in hell for eternity, so yeah, I'm going to guess that she is.

Although why her child-molesting whoremongering whited sepulchre of a brother, who had the benefit of knowing what he was doing was wrong but kept on binding burdens for others to carry, can be forgiven his sins seventy times seven times and a freaking infant can't have somebody else's sins washed away with the blood of the lamb boggles my mind (tl;dr: Jessa honey, you might want to reread the chapter about that one time it happened. I think you missed some stuff).

That's pretty standard Christan doctrine. Ever since Eve ate the apple humanity has proven itself to be evil and not worthy of the redemption that Jesus offers us, etc.
