Maybe Joe's talking about his garage band.

Joe said he gets calls from small business owners all over the country complaining about regulations.Joe said business owners have to hire extra staff to cope with all sorts of regulations.

Joe was happy that the stock market is higher. He admitted that he was wrong about the Facebook IPO.

Joe is wearing a navy sweater. Mika is a lovely fushia/violet ensemble,

Joe & Mika complained about the Oscars. There are too many parties & it is self congratulatory.

There are bigger problems to worry about than the Oscar mixup over Lalaland.

Sessions & Russia is the big story today. Sessions met with Russians during the campaign.

Joe was mad at Howard Dean for ignoring pro life Democrats. Howard Dean was interrupted numerous times by Joe over how the Democrats can win back the 1000 seats they lost. Joe didn't like Dean's view that young people want social justice. It is not left/right debate.

Joe interrupted Ratner when he tried to talk about tax cuts. Ratner said he could do several hours on why Trump's policies won't work. Joe got mad and said the stock market was up.

The idiocy of Mark Halperin, as evidenced by this snippet:

Ratner: The Trump tax cuts benefit Wall Street and rich people but aren't going to do anything for the laid-off auto workers who elected Trump.

Halperin: If there's a middle-class tax cut...

Ratner: There is no middle class tax cut in any of the proposals being considered right now.

Halperin: They could change that!

I saw that. If "if"s and "buts" were candy and nuts.....But then Rattner saw his stupid and raised him one when he argued that this country is being buried by the weight of state occupational licenses.

Nice to see Howard Dean take a break from his pharmaceutical lobbying to talk about Democratic grass roots. But funny enough the spoke the truth without even meaning to.  The town halls and the women's marches and the airport protests have all happened without the DNC. That's why they work. People who care passionately and earnestly about things don't need bloated party hacks to swoop in with mass-produced placards and corny slogans to muck things up.  Stay at home, the people got this.

Such a bullshit issue. People can be personally "pro life" all they want and nobody gives a shit. But when they start messing with access to abortion and lobbying for bans and restrictions on procedures, they ARE out of step with the Democrats and should be called out.

Sweet Christ on a cracker, do these idiots all have collective amnesia? OF COURSE the stock market is up. When you slash regulations and promise to cut business taxes, YES, the market will go up. And history proves that what goes up will come down when all of those regulations kill people, decimate their savings, and drain the federal coffers of money they need to service basic human needs of real people.

And one more thing. I am so sick of Joe whining about the poor, beleaguered small business owners who complain about having to follow basic laws and regulations designed to prevent them from cheating or hurting people. If someone wants to own and operate a business in this country, guess what? You have to do it lawfully. Stop pissing and moaning and just hire a fucking competent accountant. The world will not fall apart.

I think Ratner is still upset at the regulators who fined him for lobbying for pension funds or something like that a few years ago. It might have been Elliott Spitzer or Cuomo that complained about him. Joe mocked Ratner for not bringing any new charts. He wanted to make Charting great again. Joe is getting very sensitive to any criticism these days.

Yeah, and not the litmus test Joe thinks it is. There may be Dems - mostly older folks, and mostly Catholic - who oppose abortion but place it low on their lists of priorities and don't let it stop them from voting Dem. I know quite a few personally. If any party has an abortion purity litmus test, it's Joe's party.

And can I beg these clowns to stop with the frigging adulation of the La La Land producer who announced that Moonlight had won? They treat him like some damn hero and were at it again this morning. Whoop di do. He gave something that wasn't his to the people who won it. That's our baseline for heroism now?

http://www.mediaite.com/online/claire-mccaskill-claims-shed-never-meet-with-russian-ambassador-but-tweeted-that-she-had/

Joe has a weird fixation on the abortion issue. How many Pro Life millineal Democrats are there? Joe became famous in Pensacola for defending ant abortion activists before he was elected to Congress. I would not think that abortion is a hot button issue for young voters.

Morning Joe Transcript: McCarthy vs Joe. Is Obamacare collapsing?

This was the full exchange that took place on March 2

MSNBC- Morning Joe
7:30AM
[7:33:50 - 7:39:09]

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Let's bring in House Majority Leader Kevin Mccarthy of California. We want to talk about --

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Let's talk about Obamacare, second. First though, let’s talk really quickly. What is your reaction to the Jeff Sessions news? Should the attorney general recuse himself from any investigation moving forward on Russia?

KEVIN MCCARTHY: Well, I think Sessions in the little clip that I just saw listening to you he said he would recuse himself going forward. But I think–  I'm just now reading about this myself. I could see in his role as Senator, yes, meeting with different ambassadors. I just think he needs to clarify what these meetings were and when did he have them.

BRZEZINSKI:  If you had a meeting with a Russian ambassador and you were supporting a campaign that was swirling with questions about Russia would you disclose that you had that meeting?

MCCARTHY: Well–  in this role, we meet with ambassadors all the time.

BRZEZINSKI: Exactly.

MCCARTHY: Yes, you just say -- at a convention, ambassadors all come to both conventions and they try to get as many members as come through and just say hi. I imagine that is kind of a big room. You're really not meeting with one per se. I don't see anything very serious– I mean, by the standpoint there is an internal meeting here. But I just think he needs to clarify from what I read in the paper right now.

SCARBOROUGH: Mark?

MARK HALPERIN: But he didn't say he would recuse -- he is recusing himself. He said if it comes appropriate to recuse, kind of in a tautological way. But– So let me ask you, do you think he should recuse himself from this investigation given this now disclosed meeting?

MCCARTHY: I think you the– you trust the American people you recuse yourself in these situations. Yes

HALPERIN: He should– you- you said you would urge him to reccuse himself?

MCCARTHY: I mean– I don't have all of the information in front of me. I don’t want to pre-judge, but I just think for any investigation going forward you want to make sure everybody trusts the investigation that there is no doubt within the investigation--

HALPERIN: Does that require his recusal, congressman?

MCCARTHY:  I think it would be easier from that standpoint, yes.

BRZEZINSKI: Yeah.

SCARBOROUGH: So let me–  let's ask about really -- again, this is sort of a side issue regarding personnel which very, very serious. But let's talk about policy that is going to impact the American people at the end of the day. I was sitting, for the first time, I was invited by Elijah Cummings to sit on the democratic side and I was sitting over there. When the President said, basically, let's tackle health all of the Democrats around me just sort of started chuckling saying good luck. And basically said we tried that for two years, it's extraordinarily difficult. How are you guys going to tackle this in a way that is not going to destroy your majority the same way it destroyed the Democrats in '93 and '94 under Hillary Clinton's attempt? And Barack Obama's majority in '09 and '10. How do you guys tackle this without paying a huge political price?

MCCARTHY: Well, the first thing, as you know, Joe, you can't look at just politics when you're trying to solve a problem. ObamaCare in essence was two major items, the exchanges and the expansion of medicaid. If you look at the changes today one-third of this country, 1,022 counties only have one provider and others are pulling out. So we know that is collapsing upon itself. The 23 coops that were created 18 of those have already collapsed. So then when you look at medicaid I had 18 governors in in a bipartisan meeting this week. If you look at the expansion of medicaid in the ten-year window it's going to cost $1 trillion for one year. Well a trillion dollars is the equivalent of about as much as we spend for all discretionary government. So you know, that is not sustainable. So do we ignore the problems looking ahead and let them get bigger? Or do we reach out and try to solve them? And I think when you listen to what the President said, protect preexisting conditions – make a ban on lifetime limits, don't allow them to ban that. And secondly if you're 26 years old and younger you can stay on your parents' plan. Start with a set of principles that government isn't dictating the plan that individuals can go into the market so you build up the marketplace and actually have choice.  I mean when you talk to my constituents with medicaid, not every doctor takes it. And think about how long that waiting list is for specialists and you want to spend a trillion on dollars on that health care? Or do you want to find health care that actually for the individual?

SCARBOROUGH: Willie?

GEIST: Leader Mccarthy, it’s Willie Geist, good to see you. Do you agree with your former colleague in the former speaker of the house John Banner where he said last week, that look, let's be honest. Republicans aren't going to actually repeal ObamaCare. That is too big a lift. They will fix it. They will play around the edges and they’ll fix pieces of it. But to fully repeal and then replace it with one giant omni bust bill is not likely and not the way this going to play out.

MCCARTHY: No-- I disagree. We will repeal it and replace it but we will do that through reconciliation. And remember what the ACA did? It empowered the health and human services secretary. 1,400 pages just dealing with the secretary of their empowerment. So we will deal and repeal it, but also replace – health savings account, tax credits, reforming of medicaid. Those type of elements can go through the replacement through reconciliation. The work of Tom Price, the new secretary, he can do a tremendous amount. And then we will move te other bills that take 60 votes. Let the American people decide what is best for moving forward.

(....)

[7:59:06 - 8:04:26  ]

Spliced Clips:

BILL CLINTON: But I want to say one thing to the American people, I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again.

JEFF SESSIONS: I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign.

CLINTON: I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

SESSIONS:  I didn't – I did not have communications with the Russians.

BRZEZINSKI: So, that -- you just wonder sometimes why you put something together-- You can take it in. There might be a similarity there, I did not. Did attorney general Jeff Sessions commit perjury? So– What is your gut, Mark Halperin, at this point? What’s your gut on the question?

HALPERIN: I want him to speak more about whether he remembered the meetings and didn't think they were important to bring up. I also want to know who else knew besides him about the meeting?

BRZEZINSKI: Right. The Washington Post is out with more. Jeff Sessions had the high ranking Russian official last year when he was a Senator and when a lot of questions about Russia were swirling. In a moment, we'll speak with the man whose question may end Sessions’ career. Senator Al Franken will be joining us, it’s his first interview of the day, right here on Morning Joe. Also, about the same time this Washington Post piece crossed last night , there was this from The New York Times, they went up with a piece entitled Obama officials raced to preserve Russian trail. So we'll get to the other explosive piece of reporting in a moment. Because you know, the fake news Media is so failing, they have nothing to share with us at all, nothing to see. Good morning. It's Thursday, March 2nd. With us live, we have political analyst and executive producer and co-host of show time's The Circus Mark Halperin back with us. Former aid to the George W Bush White House and State Dept’s Elise Jordan. So let’s get everybody caught up another Republican law maker is publicly calling for attorney general Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from overseeing the investigation. The Washington Post was first to report that Sessions met twice last year with Russia's ambassador to the United States. Including a meeting in Session's senate office in September, weeks after U.S. Officials were briefed on Russia's attempts to interfere in the Presidential election. And this morning, the attorney general said this:

SESSIONS: Well, I have not met with any Russians at any time to discuss any political campaign, and those remarks are unbelievable to me. And are false. And I don't have anything else to say about that so thank you.

>> What about recusing yourself from the agency --

JEFF SESSIONS: Well, I have said whenever it's appropriate, I will recuse myself. There's no doubt about that.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Joe and Willie have updates from around Washington on this. While testifying under oath, we'll get to that, at the confirmation hearing on January 10th, Sessions had an exchange with Democratic Senator Al Franken about reports on Russian ties to the Trump campaign. Listen.

AL FRANKEN: These documents also, allegedly stated, quote, there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government. If it's true, it's obviously extremely serious. And if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?

SESSIONS: Senator Franken, I'm not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians. And I'm unable to comment.

FRANKEN:  Very well.

BRZEZINSKI:  I did not have communications with the Russians. He volunteered that. A spokeswoman for the department of justice says there was absolutely nothing misleading about his answer. He was asked during the hearing about communications between Russia and the trump campaign. Not about meetings he took as a Senator and a member of the armed services committee. His office points out he met with many other ambassadors as well. The Wall Street journal reports federal investigators examined the contacts. Though, the status and outcome of that inquiry is unclear. And earlier on Morning Joe, House Majority Leader Kevin Mccarthy called for Sessions to recuse himself:

HALPERIN: Do you think he should recuse himself from this investigation given this now disclosed meeting?

MCCARTHY: I think – the trust of the American people, you recuse yourself in these situations, yes.

HALPERIN: You said- you would urge him to recuse himself?

MCCARTHY:  I don't have all the information in front of me. I don't want to prejudge. But I just think for any investigation going forward, you want to make sure everybody trusts the investigation. That there's no doubt within the investigation. It's easier.

HALPERIN: Does that require his recusal?

MCCARTHY:  I think it would be easier from that standpoint, yes.

Joe is reporting from the Bunker in a suit. Mika is off today. Willie , Heilemann & Nick Confesore.

The Russians are serving Kirkland brand Costco Vodka which is scandalous.

That's because he isn't railing against Obama or the Democrats. Today he has no choice to but to talk about the obvious concealment of the Trump people talking to Russians.  Thus he's more subdued because it's against Trump. Believe me if the Democrats did anything remotely warranting a Joe rant he would sound wide awake.

This whole show has been about Sessions and the other Trump advisors who have been caught lying about meeting with Russians. Although it's a bit redundant for three hours I can't help but laugh at Joe who has suffer through these 3 hours. Maybe that's why he chose to do this show from his cozy bunker and not under the hot lights of the studio.

Probably not. But the   "pro life" issue is the only issue  for alt-right Catholics and many other church denomination affiliates,  and drives them to the polls in droves. Many, but not all,  hide behind the anti abortion issue  to then work "sub rosa",  advancing  anti-immigration, racist, pro big money positions, and made use of anti-abortion stance   to justify voting for Trump.  Doubt it is a bigger voting bloc than millennials.....but it turns out and definitely helped deliver Trump's electoral win.

I'd say the best quote of morning was when Willie Geist has a prolonged presentation of a subject (can't remember what) and they cut to Joe who sat there slack-jawed for several seconds until Willie asked him to respond.  Apparently Joe thought they were cutting to a pre-taped segment rather than a discussion.  Or he was having a minor stroke.

Agree. I don't know if it's people of a certain age that don't get technology and that once it's on tape or emailed or tweeted it's there FOREVER.

Liked Katy pointing out that most of the people meeting at Trump Tower came in the front door and were photographed etc. but Russian ambassador  got in there the back way for his meetings with Kushner, Sessions, and god know who else.   Why so secret if nothing was going on?  And what does Jared Kushner have to contribute to anything other than blank stares?

As McCaskill explained in a longer interview, she didn't meet with the Russian ambassador in a one-on-one meeting. He was at a panel type of conference being held among professionals and elected representatives on the problems some of her constituents were having with Russian authorities regarding adoptions from Russia and the event was well covered by press and photographers. She had been trying to make the point, and she conceded she didn't make it very well in a 140 character tweet, that she's never had the Russian ambassador call her looking for a private secret meeting and she's on some of the same committees as Sessions. Of course Joe and Mika would never understand nuance.

Monday Recap. Joe is in the Bunker. Mika is on set with the usual cast of characters. Mika called Trump a small man.  Mika is demanding that the White House staff stop defending Trump's twitter rants. Mika is back to her shrill attacks on Trump from August-October 2016. Perhaps Mika should look in the mirror and ask herself why she went along with the Trump show from June 2015-July 2016 ?. Mika & Joe wanted higher ratings & were presumably rewarded with more money. Becareful of what you do.

Joe said Reince Preibus is not being a dick!

This is a gong show!

Joe thinks that Bannon gave Trump the Breitbart article that caused him to tweet on Saturday morning.

Mika is nervous and said it's not funny anymore. LOL!. Wasn't it funny when you were caught on tape agreeing to not ask tough questions to Trump?

I think Halperin has officially joined MSNBC. Joe said that the Obama denials are highly legalistic & so it is possible that the FISA court did order that the Russians be investigated.

Halperin said that it is possible that the wiretaps were ordered. It is important that Obama did not directly order the wiretaps. It may have been done indirectly.

Joe said that Trump's public persona is to be tough, but privately he is fine.

Joe said that Trump was mad at Sessions for recusing himself.

Joe said that Trump should stop acting like a tough guy.

Halperin said that Trump wants the staff to be tough & not surrender any point.

Joe said that Trump doesn't have as much power as he thinks he does. Joe said that Trump shoud watch his show and be rational.

Joe said Trump is like a blind drunk boxer.

Joe is ranting against Bannon. Joe is mad at Bannon for not being conservative.

Hearing Mika trying to get back on some sort of feminist "know your value" soap box high horse today, her almost aside comment about "not being proud to be a woman" about losers KellyAnne Conway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders made me throw up in my mouth a little.  Find something else to be disgusted about them about, there, Meeks.

Oh, the ear worm!  Thanks @oakville.  ;(

Lots of glamor shots of Mika and Joe this morning. I had been noticing in recent months that they had very few of these anymore, but they were back in full force today.

I loved that Mika called Trump a joke.  I also rolled my eyes when she said, almost crying, "It's not funny anymore."  When was it funny?

I watched all 3 hours.....are the last 2 hours repeats because it sure seemed to be.

My husband watched for a few minutes for the first time this morning.  He wanted to know what purpose "the blonde woman" served.  LOL

Mika's "woman's angle" on the Huckabee-Sanders and Conway comments about Trump's Twitter tantrum was so annoying. It's emblematic of Morning Joe's all-style-no-substance presentation. What truly matters most (imo) is how these admin. spokespeople dissembled. She didn't get into that at any depth.

By the way, I am a woman and a feminist. I just thought that was such a non-starter in the broader conversation. Even her stab at the feminist angle was tepid. It amounted to, "Oh sure, they put the women out front at times like these and the women let them. Do you feel me, girls?"

For me, Halperin without Heilemann is like a spoonful of mayo, without the tuna and bread -- just a big glob of blah. I missed most of the first hour, but caught the 8:00 to 8:30 rerun. Did Halperin add anything to the conversation (other than what oakville recapped)?

The last fifteen minutes of this show is so often wasted air time. Bless the DVR. That said, I enjoyed the John Oliver clip they showed at about 2:51, because he said more in those 15 seconds than Mika and Joe have said in two and a half (live) hours.

Mika couldn't even properly introduce Adam Davidson's piece on Trump's Worst Deal (a failed project with a family that has ties to Iran's Revolutionary Guard). Barnicle and Joanna Coles had to take over the discussion, so ButterQueen, I'd tell your husband, "Nothing at all, except her attempts to pronounce words with the letter "L" in the middle can be amusing in an Elmer Fudd sort of way." Powicy, I mean really.

Joanna Coles is great. As they were going around the table at the end and huffing and puffing how *terrible* Trump is (the man who they were gushing over Wednesday morning for his ability to read words on a screen), Coles added drily, should anyone be surprised?

My expectations for anyone getting in trouble for horrific behavior have been nil since 1998 (so long as the person has absolutely no shame, like Trump), so I expect him to weather this storm, at which point these idiots will be up his arse again. This was exactly the level of outrage and anger they huffed last summer about Trump's insults of Judge Curiel and the Khans, and that died down pretty quickly thereafter.

And Sarah Huckabee Sanders goes on news shows and blithely lies and blusters bullshit not because she is being set up by the boys, but because, like her father, she is an incurable fameball.
