Season Four: Another reason to TGIF!

Recommended Posts

I cracked up at Julie cracking up at Pee Wee.  That balloon scene was hysterical.  I don't subscribe to Netflix but I'm tempted, just to see that movie.

I haven't watched the show often enough to remember everyone's names and I'm too lazy to check the Bravo site.  My favorites are Julie and Brandy -- but not the dogs -- the three gay guys, and the black family.  The old ladies are a bit of a disappointment.

I watched an early season or two of the Real Housewives of New York (and, even so, it annoys me that the People's Couch spends so much time on the various Housewives show), but I did love when Emerson, Blake, and Palmer, er, Scott said which NY housewives they were. I particularly liked Scott being labeled the Countess, because I thought that was perfect.

And, as others have mentioned, I could not stop laughing when Julie was cracking up at Peewee. But why did Emerson hate it so much?

Emerson is too cool for school.  Pee Wee's humor is juvenile and corny, he's so full of childish glee at the silliest things.  If a person can't let himself just go with it, it doesn't work.

I almost lost it myself when Julie was having a breakdown over Pee Wee. And Emerson just up and leaving ("I quit! I can't!") cracked me up, too.

I also loved the couchies reacting to the The People vs. OJ Simpson--it was totally how I was watching it. I knew exactly what happened yet I was still tense and angry over the whole thing. I loved Kenya telling Amanda how she would have been if she had been on the jury.

Emerson, Blake, and Palmer, er, Scott

I called them this in my head the other day!

Julie losing her shit at Pee Wee was the best. Sue cracked me up saying she didn't know Teddi was on the OJ jury when they showed the older lady during the deliberations. Could Teddi be any crankier?!

I loved that, during the Pee-Wee's Big Holiday segment, Julie and Scott were both dying of laughter, while Cathy and Emerson were both on the verge of "This is too stupid!  I quit!"  Which, back in the 1980's during Pee-Wee Herman's heyday, was pretty much the same reaction to his type of humor.

I too enjoy this show... but something has been bugging me. New Girl looks really familiar, and I can't put my finger on where I've seen her before. Anyone else recognize her?

Yes, she looks very, very familiar to me, too. But where I live dripsters like her are a dime a dozen, so...

My husband refuses to watch anything to do with PeeWee Herman. I was thrilled that he had to sit through this ep and he even cracked a smile at the balloon scene! The People's Couch, bringing married couples together.

Has everyone settled on their PC spirit animals? I used to think RaShawn was mine, because he and I share the same impeccable logic when it comes to muting the tv during incantations so no demons are accidentally summoned. Then Brandi after she hid under the blanket during Passion. But when Amanda took off her bra? That's my girl!!!!

Why doesn't Princella have her cat yet? Do we need to start a Change.org petition?

I was never a HUGE Pee Wee fan, and I can't say I've watched anything of his since the show went off the air.  But I will always remember a very pathetic Valentine's Day when my best friend and I, boyfriendless, rented Pee Wee's Big Adventure and sat on my bed and ate Chinese food.  Julie would have fit in just fine.  It's probably the best Valentine's Day I ever had, as it turns out.

I would love to see a photo of Lamont at Rashawn's age -- I'm guessing he's a mini-me.

The old ladies are getting much snarkier, especially the non-Teddies. The dark haired one in the middle is a happy hoot, and the lady on the right continually comes out of left field, as with the "I was down there chanting OJ was innocent."  And Teddie earns her spot, too, with each revelation about her kids' or inlaws' brushes with whatever the topic is, and her resolution to hold that stick up her butt.

WTF was that show Gigolos some of the couchies were watching? It looked like actual porn.

Right? I had to look that crap up -- it's on Showtime, but still. I was wondering if all the fake clients allow them to film the actual sex. Jeezalou.

I never realized, from The Soup clips, that Gigolos went that far.  That's old school Showtime-level.

I was so happy to see the couchies watching Gigolos, which is one of my absolute favorite shows on TV.  It is so utterly ridiculous and unintentionally hilarious that I am always completely entertained and usually can't breathe at the end of the episode from laughing so hard.  However, I would NEVER watch Gigolos in the same room as my parents, and I'm in my mid 30s!  How mortifying!  Also loved that someone made the same comment I did as I watched the episode about how gross it was for them to be in the ring with other people's sweat and grime....blech!! (Also, I requested a Gigolo's thread at the start of this new season, in case anyone else wants to join the other 3 of us who watch it!  Lol!)

The Passion made me laugh the hardest. I don't know why, but it started with the three guys talking about the huge white columns and went from there. It was so ridiculous, I couldn't stop laughing!

I could swear it used to be on the Esquire network? It was fun for a couple of eps until I realized the "clients" were sex workers or amateur porn wannabes and for some reason that turned me off. Like duh, as if regular clients would agree to be filmed. But it was great that Teddi was forced to sit through an ep!

And yet he apparently is enthralled by every Real Housewives show there ever was.

I'm on team Pee Wee.  And now I know how to pronounce Joe Manganiello's name.  TV is so educational!

A bunch of awesomely frozen, open-mouthed reaction shots this week. I reallyreally wish Bravo would make a compilation video. Animated flies could zoom in!

Kenya, wistfully: "That cake looked like it was super moist, too." Her breasts were on blast tonight in that charcoal heather tank top!

Hey, Scott and your gummy bears? Remember that nothing ever tastes as good as being skinny feels. You taught me that.

I'm not sure whether I like it better when the couchies are familiar with the shows because they bring more knowledgeable snark, or when they haven't watched at all before, because of the shock and surprise. Can I choose both?

While I'd like to think Princella is my spirit animal, I'm pretty sure it's Joe Resnick (minus the handsiness).

The reactions to The Walking Dead finale were 100% copasetic with the rest of the world.  "That's it?  That can't be it!"

lordonia, I think it's better when they know the shows, but they'd have to spend their lives in front of the TV.  Couch has shows I've never heard of, let alone watched.

The fun they're having makes me wish my husband and I liked the same shows.  The only one we've watched together is The Sopranos

If those are the sugar-free kind he's going to be losing weight. Very quickly and traumatically.

I recently found out about this show (someone posted about it on the Bravo Real Housewives Reddit subreddit) and I just binged watched all of the episodes over the past few days. Love it! Now I found about 10 more shows I want to start watching and I'm already watching a bunch of shows....lol

Julie singing with the dogs at the end of American Idol was too funny, especially when one of the dogs started to hurl and Julie was making gagging noises mid-song.

I had to pause and rewind that bit because I was laughing so hard. I also cracked up with Brandy told Julie to be nicer to one of the dogs and it full on growled at her when she tried.

And Lamont freaking out over The Walking Dead killed me. As did Princella and Lamont cracking up when Rashawn sang like he was in church. I just love that family.

Vicky8675309 how did you binge watch the show?  We've been discussing the fact that we can't find old episodes -- it's not even on my on-demand list.

The older ladies were hilarious this week.  Loved Sue asking Ayn:  "Do you need a pill?"  Teddi was even smiling occasionally!

No new couple again.  Fine with me!

We bitch sometimes about too many Bravo shows being used, but I've got to credit the producers with always using the shows I hope for:  the American Idol finale, the Walking Dead season finale, that cray-cray Blacklist episode...and since I don't watch any Housewives (or Shah) shows, TPC lets me laugh at them and keep up with that corner of pop culture.

I had just finished watching that episode of Who Do You Think You Are just before this, so when it started I got really excited to see the Couchies reaction to the woman. Was she or wasn't she?

It was sad about the cake......

Another episode without the new couple!

My husband loved this ep for two reasons: the inclusion of AI and the exclusion of the new couple. He has a very negative reaction whenever they're on, which is entertaining in and of itself.

I will forever love Lamont for wanting to give lots of credit to the Strong lady who kept faling off the monkey bars. That man has a heart of gold. But Rashawn's face when Princella said "I love you" and gave him a kiss! Gah, mom. Not on national tv.

Kenya is 100% right about wasting delicious, moist cake. (If that dress was $3,000 then someone got ripped off by Pnina Tornai.)

We are still laughing about the dog cacking on a hairball when Julie sang A Moment Like This.

I loved Rashawn singing!  I love that family, especially his reactions. They're usually just subtle side-eye but when he does say something, it's always gold.  I also loved Lamont interrupting Princella when she was trying to explain how one of her ancestors stole another ancestor to ask what the snack food they were eating was (especially because like 30 seconds before I asked my husband what the bowls of red stuff was!). He was like, yeah yeah stolen grandma...what the hell are you feeding me?!

You go, Lamont: "I don't have these camo pants on for nothing."

I kept rewinding and couldn't figure out what Kenya was saying about the Dallas housewives. She was tsk-tsking sarcastically about there being no Blacks in Dallas and said she'd even take a ... swirl? squirrel?

Everyone jumping in glee when that assy guy was eliminated on American Grit -- satisfying! I want to believe in Goldie, too. (But not enough to watch that show.)

I laughed that they all knew the words to Shoop, even though Brandy recommended denying it.

iZombie grossed me out for real, so Emerson is welcome to eat pre-crack Whitney Houston's brain all by himself.

It's beginning to look like Budd and Mackenna had a very short run.

Part of the reason I like this show is that it introduces me to TV shows that I would never, ever have found out about if it weren't on The People's Couch.  I mean:  Ghost Brothers?  If someone had told me the premise of Ghost Brothers, I would have thought it was a skit from The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore or Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Kenya, on Ryan Reynolds:  "I would sex him."  (Pause).  "Did I say that out loud?"

Ryan Reynolds, on the MTV Movie Awards:  "I'd like to thank my wife Blake..."

Our Blake:  "Sorry I didn't tell you guys about that."

She said "swirl", which I'm guessing is slang for mixed-race.  Yep.  Just looked at Urban Dictionary -- a mix of ethnicities.

I was disappointed that they thought Brandi's poop hat and the poop on the chair was funny.

Just FYI I have comcast and this show has just started showing up on demand.

I wish this show wouldn't have food shows because it hammers home that me and Emerson are not an OTP!

I am glad that ass was eliminated on American Grit because every word out of his mouth was ludicrious but he wasn't wrong that their mentor gave them very bad advice about not using the rope.

32-year-old "celebrity trainer" Chris sounded a lot like Vanderpump Rules's Tom Schwartz. (Who has a dad bod.)

I loved Julie's iZombie snark: "'Max Rager'? Sounds like a boner drug."

Julie & Brandy

The Zeno Family

I kinda miss the Egbers vs the chubby guy & g/f

The dad and three daughters - I've never noticed the dad being "handsy" as others have commented on. But, jeez, I could have lived without the middle daughter's comment about something on the TV giving her dad a boner.

More than once, last week for one in fact, the daughter that sits beside him has practically draped herself in his lap in a way that I find more than just lean against dad type of body behavior.  I get families are different but I do think boundaries exist for a reason as well.

IMO, there is nothing weird about how the sister's sit with their dad except that the four of them don't need to be smashed to together on that couch. Especially, with the middle sitting sister constantly moving all over the place and spreading out, someone is going to end up against the dad anyway. We never see four people on a couch together. Always 2 or 3. There's a good reason for that.

I'm forgetting the names but the middle guy in three male group pushing forward and adjusting his shirt, one of them noticing and motioning to the one on the left who was oblivious has me in histerics. It was just so random.

First time posting here. Love this show and love you guys and your hilarious comments.

Julie / Brandy and the Zenos are everything. I'd watch a show with just them. But right now, I actually appreciate everyone on this show. Even the golden girls can get in a few good laughs.

I wish Bravo would give this show some love. It'd be great if they'd do an occasional marathon the way they do with all their other shows. This show never reruns. I'm glad they at least finally put it on On Demand.

Anyone know how they decide who watches what show? Is it just a timing thing?

Yay, Burner! It's nice to add another fan.

I've wondered about the schedule as well, because some couchies are absent from certain episodes. My assumption has been that everyone watches all the shows but certain groups are cut for time, except that doesn't really make financial sense. It seems like the golden girls are skipped most often, so maybe they're contracted for a fewer number of weeks?

The behind-the-scenes info is just as sparse as Bravo's promotional materials. I'd be curious to know if the cameras and lighting are fixed in place or if crews actually go to all of the houses every week. Naturally I'd also like to know how much the couchies get paid! Nosy, nosy.

My provider, DirecTV, did not add old episodes to their on demand offerings. Sigh. I very rarely re-watch shows but would for this one, just for the smiles.

This show is tough to do for reruns because the shows they use are current. A week later and there is a good chance the viewer might've watched it, but has moved on.
