KLovestoShop January 11, 2016 Share January 11, 2016 (edited) I want to shoot my TV every time Stacy London is on. Why does she have to scream and shout and basically act like an idiot every time she's on with the View Your Deal? Then you add CCB and her voice, and it's time to turn off the TV. Former Nun January 11, 2016 Share January 11, 2016 (edited) I did watch the Golden Globes. I DID enjoy Ricky Gervais...almost every minute. Of course he's disrespectful and raunchy--that's why he was hired. Oh, boo hoo, Whoopi, you think he was unfair going after Ben Affleck's "family." BULLSHIT! He made a little joke about Affleck's faithfulness. Apparently you think he "didn't have to go there," and then...and THEN you tell us you didn't even watch the show. Should we recount all the many places you should not have gone? Sunny Hostin then comments about Gervais' picking "low-hanging fruit." GEEZ! It's an awards show is there anything other than low-hanging fruit? My television just spoke up and said she's happier to not show me any more Sunny...ever. I don't enjoy Michelle as much as she should be enjoyed. If she truly is leaving, why should she be replaced at all? Four on the panel is more workable and they have SO MANY "contributors" available. P.S. At least Whoopi didn't criticize the Cosby joke. Edited January 11, 2016 by Former Nun 10 Link to comment

Celia Rubenstein January 11, 2016 Share January 11, 2016 Does anyone believe that Whoopi really "has some friends" who buy scratch-off lottery tickets to give to homeless people? I don't. It's not like she even said "a" friend or "one" friend. She claims she knows multiple people who do this. Right. It felt like one of those useless lies Hasselbeck used to tell about her kids or her pretend friends ..... just making shit up so she has something to say that reflects well on her (or so she thinks). Anyway. I don't know why Whoop was so offended by the Ben Affleck cheating joke but everything else Ricky Gervaise said on the Globes was okay. Every other person he made fun of has a family who might be hurt or embarrassed by something he said, too. Is it because that particular joke referenced cheating? And we all know Whoopi thinks stepping out on your spouse is no big deal and defends the practice? Is that why she took umbrage at that joke in particular? God knows she lives to defend the misbehavior of any celebrity who wears pants ... rapers, beaters, racists and cheaters. It doesn't matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dkQ3t7tnds Well she can stuff an ugly sequined sock in it, already. It's not like Ben Affleck's little children were sitting there in the audience weeping, for crying out loud. And it's not like there are not fifty thousand internet and printed stories about what went on and these kids would never know anything about it if Ricky Gervaise had not said something. What it boils down to (or should I say "the thing is ......" ) If Ben Affleck doesn't want his children embarrassed by his behavior, he should have kept his hands off their press-hungry nanny who is loving every bit of the attention she is getting as she markets the tale of their affair. Any pain or suffering or embarrassment his children experience as a result of his actions are ON HIM. Not on some dumb comedian who made a joke about it during an awards show once upon a time. 15 Link to comment

bannana January 11, 2016 Share January 11, 2016 I was surprised she didn't defend Mel when Michelle said he was a Holocaust denier. Personally, I was stunned to see Mel on the GGs and I howled when RG asked him just WTF sugar tits means, cause I don't to this day know what it means. I am with Michelle on RG. He was funny and they hired him to do exactly what he did. Heck, some of the presenters were more over the line and shocking to the audience members, a la Amy Shumer, for example. I know I am in the minority but Michelle is actually growing on me. Whoopi encouraging people to play the lotto is kind of crazy. I don't know the stats in the US but usually its folks who cannot afford it who play, same with gambling. But it is a free country and she has a right to her View. There are just so many more interesting topics they could cover than the lotto. 9 Link to comment
merriebreeze January 11, 2016 Share January 11, 2016 Who is Whoopi to tell the ABC show runners what they should do (more Michelle)? Didn't she encourage Ted Danson to do the black face routine that was universally panned? http://www.rogerebert.com/rogers-journal/dansons-racist-humor-appalls-crowd-at-roast She's got such poor judgment about so many things -- buy lottery tickets, Cosby, Mel G., Polanski, relationship advice, tax rants, job prep, parenting, inappropriate jokes . . . the list goes on and on. 10 Link to comment
MatchaLove January 11, 2016 Share January 11, 2016 I thought Ricky Gervais was so good. Bitchy, edgy and in-your-face (as anticipated). Giving zero you-know-whats…... And as RG said, nobody really cares about this award but you, so don't get overly dramatic, lmao. It's all fair game. 9 Link to comment

Morbs January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 I think it's funny they are butt hurt about Mel Gibson and Ben Affleck's egos (two men whose behavior deserves mocking - i saw that divorce coming a mile away and I think Ben is drinking again)when RG made a joke about the innocent woman Bruce Jenner killed in his car crash. I'm all for gallows humor, but it's very strange to me how Bruce Jenner and the media have treated her death like a blip on the radar of publicity tour when a human life was lost. A better joke could be constructed about how Caitlynn Jenner appears to not even care about a life event that would devastate most people for years to come. 9 Link to comment
barbedwire January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 Agree with the comments on Whoop. If her "friends" were giving out a blanket, warm socks, a sandwich and a bottle of water along with the lotto ticket then MAYBE that might be a good thing. But handing out a ticket saying "I hope your luck changes before you freeze or starve to death" is not cool. 15 Link to comment
tenativelyyours January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 (edited) Did anyone else think that Whoopi doesn't even know what a lottery ticket really is? Or at least in the context of her anecdote? Because in the context of her anecdote she is claiming she knows several people who give out what is, by the odds, a worthless piece of paper. What is more it is a tease of hope that more often than naught it dashed or simply fails to come to fruition. Why not just walk around the city and tell homeless people 'if I win the big Powerball, I'm buying you a coke'?*** I think Whoopi was cherry picking. She couldn't outright defend Gibson and pushed back against Gervais so she went in that same silly place so many tend to go. 'The family'. Like it is a catch all Ronald Reagan Star Wars missile shield of fantasy that you cannot go up against. It has no opposition. So she spouts the family bit when deep down she either was pissed that Gibson and Cosby were actually the lower hanging fruit. Or it simply falls to her scientific belief that stars are better than everyone else and everyone else damn well better realize that and act upon it. And greater stars should not suffer lesser stars. She really does have this insane hierarchy in her head that combines awards and box office and ratings. Affleck is much bigger than Gervais in her mind and so therefore should never have to deal with being insulted or bear the brunt of such a lesser mortal's jokes. ***ETA for clarity By this I mean she seems to be confusing scratch off lottery tickets with McDonald's. State lottery tickets are meant to lose for the most part. Whereas McDonalds you win at least something. Free fries. Or that coke. Edited January 12, 2016 by tenativelyyours 5 Link to comment
Morgalisa January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 Whoopi does play the lottery. There have been paparazzi shots of her leaving the bodega with her cigarettes and scratch offs. So, I've taken up adult coloring books. Supposed to relieve stress and anxiety. After listening to that airbag Whoopi in Hot Topics, I grabbed my Secret Garden book and coloring pencils and escaped to my bedroom for therapy. I might watch the rest of the show later, but probably not. 6 Link to comment
athousandclowns January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 I have taken up the coloring too. My mother ( who was an artist) is someplace rolling her eyes because she wouldn't let us have them as she was a color outside the lines type of person. I am enjoying it. I have had big Ricky love for years and watched with my two friends who are not fans but they were slapping their legs cracking up. London is so irritating. Sherri was on Andy Cohen or maybe I just watched it and she indicated Raven needs a sitcom because she is sooooo good at it. 4 Link to comment

howiveaddict January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 I'm reaching here, but maybe Whoopi meant giving homeless a winning ticket already scratched off and known winner of a few dollars. Other then that its giving away useless paper. I have gotten lottery scatch off tickets as a gift before, and I thought of it as a non gift. Between hubby and me, the $ 10 worth of tickets probably netted $5. Really useful gift for a homeless person. 2 Link to comment

geekburger January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 I like Sunni...but why is Sherri tweeting what is most likely secret information between ABC and Sunni? Cosmocrush January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 I like Sunni...but why is Sherri tweeting what is most likely secret information between ABC and Sunni? If I remember correctly, Sherri has spilled the bean before this time too. Months before Bits left, Sherri tweeted something about "her world collapsing" when rumours of of Bitsy leaving were out so the next week both Bits and Babs denied it, hahaha.. Then she accidentally confirmed it on Wendy Williams a month before Bits actually announced she was leaving and then left. I think she tweeted something about Jenny McCarthy joining the show before it was announced too. It was actually the Golden Globes, although I am not sure if that is included in voting as an EGOT I think that is what Whoopi was referring to....or implying. I'm sorry I don't know the context but unlike the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes are chosen/voted on by about 90 entertainment reporters - the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. If she was implying she has a say in it don't believe her. She is however, one of the 2000+ members of the Academy who vote on the Oscars. 2 Link to comment

OTOH, I just keep hoping for more bad press for her idiocy and meaness and grossness on the spew, so her EGOT star tarnishes more. I mean, if Oprah is cold (kind of) toward her, then maybe the new classy actresses and strong creatives in like Viola, Halle, Shonda, Olivia Pope (sorry, can t remember her name right now) will become even brighter and leave yucky Whoopi way behind as a has been and social loser like Mel Gibson, for her crazy views supporting Mel, Cosby, Roman, etc. 3 Link to comment

Turned it off again not long after. No one, even Joy, interests me enough to continue watching anymore. 3 Link to comment
TheGreenKnight January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 I hate when they advertise topics they never get to. They did it twice today. Apparently Candace was upset about Obama’s State of the Union or something. Thankfully we never heard her thoughts. Good for Joy not allowing Paula and Candace to victim-blame during the rape topic. And this was an example of Whoopi’s opinions changing with whoever’s present, because if Nicolle had been there rather than Joy, she and Nicolle would’ve been first in line to kick the victim. And then Candace tried to make the topic about religion…! I think I rolled my eyes out of my head for a minute there. Rape has been happening for as long humans have been around, and I’m glad Joy pointed out that most people do follow a religion—maybe not all of them are a part of Candace’s religion and/or subset of a religion, but atheists are still the vast minority. Rape has nothing to do with religion or teachers not making kids pray in school or the Ten Commandments not being on a public monument. This is why I don't see Candace as any better than Whoopi or Raven. 8 Link to comment

Grrr at the victim blaming, you want to know why we live in a rape culture CCB? Christian patriarchal bullshit and justified rape in the buybull. Thank you Raven, you did good, so did you Whoopi. I want to know why we had to listen to a whole season of CCB whining about "sexy costumes" on DWTS when that's mostly what her wardrobe is made up of on The Spew?
