bmoore4026 October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 (edited) Leo's back! Was wondering when his scuzzy face was going to show back up. And so cathartic, too. "Where's all her food?" "What? You mean her wine and popcorn?" Oh, lampshade hanging can be fun! Also, "presidential spoon?" I love it! Damn! Edison (was that his name) really laid in to her before his interview, didn't he? Cyrus laughing during the interview almost made me laugh, too. So maniacal yet I completely understand. And Cyrus was really rubbing salt in the wound when Fitz asked him back. Kind of torn. Cyrus is smug but he's earned the right to shine the light on hypocrisy and ingratitude. Then again, I didn't like Fitz forgiving Cyrus. Cyrus was partially responsible for the B6-13 debacle, up to and including getting Olivia kidnapped in order for her to sign away any knowledge of its existence. I'm confused, though. How is infidelity an impeachable offense? Confused during The Clinton Scandal, confused now. Mellie's getting used by everybody. Surprised she hasn't truly snapped yet. Was hoping she'd be chowing down on fried chicken with Cyrus. Olivia still has feelings for Jake, but Jake's married. It's official - Liv has a husband fetish. I'm wondering if Olivia was sincere during her interview. With her, it's hard to tell. What's easy to tell is, when immediately threatened (like with the tape), it lights a fire under her ass. And that's when we see the Liv we need to see more often. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing them all in prison. Would be an interesting sixth season if that happened. Going to Jake to complain about having to say she loves the president when she knows he loves/loved her? Her interview was over the top. Hard seeing Gypsy from Gilmore Girls as a Senate leader. Probably the best episode of the season. I was glad to see Edison again and so glad he called Liv on her crap! Link to comment

SimoneS October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 (edited) Olivia's interview was ridiculous, but I loved it. You just know that it would persuade people that she and Fitz are really in love and win them lots more of supporters. Cyrus making his way back to the White House makes me rethink my assumption that Mellie will be back there by the end of the season. The show definitely seems to taking a different path. Forgot to mention that I enjoyed the scene when Mellie went to see Cyrus and he was stuffing his face, when he excited and impressed told her how Olivia went from mistress/slut to everyday woman to sisterwife and that he did not know that was possible, I cracked up. One of the few moments that this show ever admitted that it realizes how outrageous it is. Edited October 23, 2015 by SimoneS 4 Link to comment
PrincessTT October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 (edited) The scene with Edison where he reminded Liv (and me) about 'a criminal, a whore, an idiot and a liar' just took me back to remembering how much I used to love this show! I did like the Mellie/Cyrus scenes but I wasn't surprised that Cyrus ended up back at the White House. Although there was a moment where I thought that he would stick with a seemingly rising power figure rather than going back to a diminishing power figure. Surely though Liz North isn't going to take this lieing down? I enjoyed the scene with Fitz's lawyer (Patty?) and her analysis of Lizzy-Bear. It does seem that the show might be heading a new, slightly less predictable, direction so I'll be sticking around to see what comes of that. Edited October 23, 2015 by PrincessTT Link to comment

Dowel Jones October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 "Weirdos! Focus!" Got to love Leo sometimes! They gave him the lines tonight, didn't they? It probably felt good for him to take a few inches off their inflated heads. Cyrus earned the title of BadAss Negotiator tonight, but I think he underestimates Grant's vileness and lack of conscience. Once the hearings are over and the spoils of war have been divided, Cyrus is no longer important. He could have an accident, an overdose, a fatal heart attack. Unless he has a secret get out of jail free card. A well placed bribe to a staffer at the Attorney General's office would reveal that Olivia went in to see David Rosen. An intrepid investigative journalist would, after proffering said bribe, then publicly ask why she is conferring with the opposition's attorney. No bueno. I could almost like Olivia's story after the interview, but I can't help thinking that, had it occurred early in S2, it would be so much more believable. But the show has spent the last four years grinding down every character into the most despicable excuse of humanity that I can't feel sorry for anyone. Best giggle-worthy line of the night: "You don't have to jump up and down on the couch. Just smile." 1 Link to comment

Empress1 October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 I'm wondering if Olivia was sincere during her interview. With her, it's hard to tell. What's easy to tell is, when immediately threatened (like with the tape), it lights a fire under her ass. And that's when we see the Liv we need to see more often. I think the whole "it was a fairytale moment when he gave me the ring" was insincere (Olivia reminds me a bit of me in that I don't think she'd ever seriously say that something was out of a fairytale, and Leo's strategy was initially to spin it as lovesick), but "I feel terrible about the lives I've ruined and if I could stop loving him I would" bit was sincere. She HAS tried and failed and tried again to stop loving Fitz, and there have been times where she has recognized that she would be a whole lot better off - they all would - if she hadn't met him. Leo was on fire this episode. "Weirdos! Focus!" And I liked her getting called out a bit about being a 1%er - Marcus already did that when he pointed out that her Prada bag cost several months of his rent in "The Lawn Chair," and it's true. Her wealth and power aren't relatable to most; falling in love with the wrong person IS relatable. Even falling in love with a married person is relatable - people have affairs all the time; people have affairs all the time with people they work with. That was a much better play. I thought we were done with Bill Cosby's brother, but I was here for him bringing back that "criminal, whore, idiot, and a liar" read that Live gave him. She deserved it. Was Mellie really surprised that she wouldn't be allowed to be a part of the committee that was investigating her soon-to-be ex-husband? So Cyrus is totally in love with Fitz, right? 4 Link to comment

Chaos Theory October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 (edited) Just when I think i am out..... The good: Leo. Every word out of his mouth was pure gold. Ditto for Fitz's lawyer whose name I forget. Lots of callbacks. There were a whole lot of nice callbacks and history lessons. Mellie and Cyrus talking about the past and wondering what life would have been like if Cyrus had never brought Olivia Into their lives and the Edison scenes were great too. The ok: the Olivia interview was fine. It was better then I thought it would be and I didn't hate it which is probably the highest praise I can give it. Also the Fitz/Cyrus scene was ok. I liked it a lot until Fitz got him to stay. The bad: Fitz. Fitz. Fitz. Edited October 23, 2015 by Chaos Theory 3 Link to comment

Tetraneutron October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 No mention of B613! This would still be the best episode of the season even if it weren't any good, which it actually was. THIS is why people watch Scandal - fun DC fixer stuff and insane relationship melodrama. But it was also good in its own right because Leo had a big part. I love Leo. He's probably my favorite character. Probably because he's the only person in the whole show who has a sense of humor. Everyone takes themselves way too seriously. And I loved Cy's speech to Fitz where he listed off all the illegal, possibly treasonous reasons why Fitz could be impeached (and probably put in jail). But he left off killing Verna, right? Or maybe I missed that. The point is holy shit every main character on this show should be in jail, not just Fitz. And why are they writing Mellie so stupid lately? The character, for the whole show, has been a brilliant woman forced to play the dumb wifey role and wants a shot at real power. So now why is she suddenly being vengeful and petty? Why does she want a seat on the judiciary committee so bad? She knows it would only hurt her and only make her look like the political Betty Broderick. Why doesn't she hire Leo and spin her situation? 3 Link to comment
thewhiteowl October 23, 2015 Author Share October 23, 2015 Oh, there was that. Forgot about it. Don't fret, the show will have forgotten about it by next week. Wrapped up the whole impeachment thing in an hour. I had hoped for more. That Cyrus trusts Fitz to hold up his end of the deal is the best evidence I have that Cyrus really does love him. And ewwww. Nancybeth October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 So Gypsy from "Gilmore Girls" became a Senator (after dying of cancer on "Parenthood") and Finn's mom from "Glee" is now a high-powered kickass lawyer. ToukieSmith October 24, 2015 Share October 24, 2015 (edited) I don't think Cy is in love with Fitz either. Cy sacrificed everything for Fitz and got him elected. Cy rose to the promise land of power and influence. Fitz used Cy then cut him out of his life as if Cy was some bum off the street. Fitz would not know Olivia if it weren't for Cyrus. Cy went from the penthouse to the outhouse with one stroke of the pen. I think Jeff has done a great job of expressing the kind of pain that Cyrus has experienced (sadness, anger, maniacal crazy) over this roller coaster of a Presidency. He pulled his shit together once he decided to accept Fitz's bullshit though. He wanted his job back, his floors cleaned, a pardon and his replacement out on her ass stat. He should have made Fitz gravel on his knees. Edited October 24, 2015 by ToukieSmith 2 Link to comment

donsey October 24, 2015 Share October 24, 2015 Liv and Fitz rutting around to Marvin Gaye while discussing how to spin the fact that he declared war and sent dozens of soldiers to their deaths over his mistress being kidnapped was one of the grossest things I've seen on Scandal. And considering the amount of torture porn this show has subjected us to... that is a feat. Great to see Leo again; he was amazing. At some point the storyline may have become a dream or fantasy sequence, and the only question is when it started. Cyrus and Fitz reuniting and forgiving each other. I wouldn't trust Fitz as far as Cyrus could throw him. Fitz pulled the ace card out of his sleeve at the very moment he needed to in order to save himself and his job. Gotta give Fitz points for be able to throw a game-winning shot under pressure. Cyrus earned the title of BadAss Negotiator tonight, but I think he underestimates Grant's vileness and lack of conscience. Cyrus being in love with Fitz would hardly be scandalous (IMO) and it's been done before, for example, in the 80s movie No Way Out. (Sorry if that's a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen the movie.) I think the real problem is how obsessed Cyrus is with Fitz. That's the sick part, IMO. Edited October 24, 2015 by Oblique Angle Link to comment
ribboninthesky1 October 24, 2015 Share October 24, 2015 Hard seeing Gypsy from Gilmore Girls as a Senate leader. Thank you - I could not place her face and remember where I knew her. She HAS tried and failed and tried again to stop loving Fitz, and there have been times where she has recognized that she would be a whole lot better off - they all would - if she hadn't met him. I agree. I thought Washington did a good job with the pained, disingenuous "fairytale" spiel vs the also pained yet authentic "I wish I never met him" monologue. What I liked as part of the latter is the acknowledgement of the SCOPE of collateral damage of their affair - it's not just about Mellie and the kids. Never was. I thought we were done with Bill Cosby's brother, but I was here for him bringing back that "criminal, whore, idiot, and a liar" read that Live gave him. She deserved it. I love you and hate you for reminding me of Puddin'. Man, the early Scandal TWOP forum was every.thing. Good times. Still, for me, that Edison was the only influential person who could vouch for Olivia was bullshit and beyond the normal Scandal plot contrivance. I don't think Cy is in love with Fitz. Interesting that Marcus has been more effective and cunning in two episodes than Harrison ever was. I often thought Columbus Short was a miscast. Watching Cornelius Smith Jr reaffirms it. Still, gotta sting for Short. Watching Olivia and Jake interact makes me wish Stephen were still around. They were actually friends. If Olivia can't have any female friends, Stephen makes a helluva lot more sense. I've never thought Abby and Olivia were friends. Link to comment
