Awww, I know Alison is talented but I was still hoping for Laurie.  I saw a lot of similarities in the  mother daughter relationship in Lady Bird with my daughter and myself.  No jumping out of moving cars...but you know.  Laurie hit every one of those notes just right.

Supported by the group Everytown for Gun Safety, there's also a campaign encouraging the nominees (especially the ones everybody knows, as opposed to those who mainly work behind the scenes) to wear either orange ribbons or orange colored American flag pins.

I think they just saw Kobe Bryant on the list. I doubt many of the voters saw the shorts (though they should have cause they were awesome and my personal favorite was Revolting Rhymes-it’s on Netflix!).

I thought that the Short and Foreign Language Film categories were ones that only voters who attended Academy screenings of each of the films are allowed to vote in (although maybe I'm just thinking of the nomination process)?

Thanks for that link.  This Sorkinite was hoping that Adapted Screenplay would be a bit earlier in the evening.  Sometimes they give out one of the writing awards fairly early on.  Not tonight.  :(

I think (stressing think) that’s just nominations. If I can watch a compilation of shorts at the theater every year then surely they get screeners to the voters.

While I love Allison Janney and am happy for her personally, I was pulling for Laurie Metcalf who gave such a beautifully nuanced performance.

Who  wanted American Idol to come back and who wanted it to come back with even worse judges which only one of them I actually know and recognize because it's Lionel Richie and if you've been alive for at least 20 years you at least know of him but the other two I have no clue who they are and why they should be qualified to determine other people's future in singing and everytime I see the group of people that their sorting through I get rejection from The Voice vibes from these people so I'm going to go with this is going to be another failed experiment on ABC's record all because they just happen to have Ryan Seacrest now on their payroll so they can use him for kind of free or until they're forced to fire him because of his allegations drama.

Okay now back to the Oscars who are these two children and why do they both look barely old enough to even still be up at this hour but the yound lad is super cute adorable accent is that the kid who played Spider-Man in the new film that didn't tank?
