She was worse today than I could've imagined.  Jason was going there--she couldn't go with him and get her kids?  And the whole "maybe we can tell THEM together."  Woman, Scout is NOT JASON'S CHILD.  You're trash for not giving a crap about Drew, total trash.

I wish they would have never written her finding out he died. I knew Sam was never going to actually pay her respects, but hearing her dialogue. Wow.  She would have been before off never finding out and continuing her stupid plan with Shiloh.

And the acting does the character/writing zero favors.  There is nothing in Kelly's performance that would give you the slightest feeling that Sam actually was with Drew and seemed incredibly happy with him and would feel for him.  Nothing.

I was underwhelmed today, mostly because Oscar simply didn't earn most of this. And Jason being such a big part of it really rankles.

One good thing that happened is that Willow doesn't seem to be letting Shiloh push her around anymore. It's about time.

My best-of today were Billy, Leslie, and Wally, because no matter how little he's used, he never just phones it in.  He has a way of saying his lines that make me buy into whatever he's portraying, so well done.

Wait, why is Sam explaining to Shiloh who Oscar is?  Oscar freaking lived at the DoD house.  He was around Shiloh more than he saw Sam.  Why does Shiloh react to the news like he's bored? Oh, he's only interested in getting into Sam's pants.

It was a huge distraction how far GS's legs hung off the end of the gurney.  BM put him too far down.  I had visions of him knocking down flower vases as they took him away.  Not the somber moment they were going for.

The writers refuse to let her evolve beyond Jason.

How hard was it for her to march her ass to the mansion to see Monica. The writers don't want her interacting with Drew? Fine. Whatever. I think they're stupid for it, but what about Monica? Her children are there. Why is she asking Jason to check up on them when she can go herself to do that?

I didn't care all that much about Oscar, but he wasn't a stranger to her. He was her stepson at one time and the handful of scenes they had were nice. And he is her daughter's half-brother.

They turned Sam into a total asshole. SBu's return and re-pairing her with Jason has set her so far back. It's just gross at this point.

The fact that Sam couldn't even say Drew's name today, but instead was concerned about Jason's loss of a nephew he barely knew or cared about was disgusting. What was she doing leaving her 2 little kids at a house where a teenager was dying? And she couldn't bring herself to go to the house to check on the kids herself and offer support to Drew. Last I checked, they still had an amicable relationship. It just burns me that Jason is being shoe-horned into this story because he's Jason. If he's so concerned about Q's dying, then why is he working for his brother's killer?  I can't believe I once fan-girled Jason and Sam.

Ok, rant over - for now. Ugh!

Aside from the fact that it makes the character look really awful, this is just making it even more glaringly obvious to viewers that for whatever reason, the writers/creators are doing everything to ensure these two characters and by that token, actors, do not interact at all. And whatever the behind the scenes drama for this decision, it's hurting the writing, the story and making the character look really fucking awful

As someone else noted, even Sam fans, not Sam and Drew fans, are posting online about how awful this makes the character look and wondering why the writers are writing her and the story this way. And it's not like this is a case of that's just how they always write former couples. Because you see past couples interact all the time in times of tragedy or grief.

That the writers truly completely excluded Sam from a storyline where her ex-husband's teenage son died, a boy she had in her home, interacted with, who is (or was as the case may be) her daughter's brother, is just mind boggling. Like are you fucking kidding me? And to find out and they can't even write a scene of her going over to the Quatermaine's to give Drew a damn hug? Again, are you fucking kidding me?

I know some were joking about it on social media and I've made snarky comments too but seriously, are they really that terrified of Billy and Kelly in a scene together? What do they think is going to happen - that they'll start jumping each other's bones and they, the writers won't be able to stop it? Or are they so worried that their chemistry will overshadow Kelly and Steve's that much?

I hope that this really isn't because of something this ridiculous but I have to think something's going on because this just doesn't make sense. I know this show's writing hasn't exactly been stellar for years but I can't imagine even they are so mediocre as to truly be unaware how this comes across.

And so if it is deliberate and it is for the above reason, then how pathetic is it that they have to essentially keep actors out of scenes together entirely so as to prop up another pairing. Maybe it's time to get a clue and realize the other pairing just plain sucks.

Another take on Sam's reaction, she couldn't have thrown in a, "Give Monica my love, and thank her for constantly watching my children" when she was seeing Jason off?

Well, there *was* that scene of Sam/Drew on the bench outside Kelly's, one of their last scenes together, when Kelly was curled up on Billy so much she was practically in his lap... ;)

But honestly the writing and the writers are going out of their way to convince the audience that Sam and Drew meant nothing to each other and while part of me thinks it really was simply an oversight on Sam's DoD file, a dumb prop mistake, I'm convinced more than ever now that the writers are going to do everything they can - more than they already have - to sever the Scout connection between Sam and Drew and slowly start to morph Scout into Jason's daughter.

I think it may have been BTS stuff at first like last year when they were suddenly pulled.  But now I think it is the writing and I think the point is to drive home that they were nothing to each other and it's working.

Jason/Liz have zero interaction as well.

And these are supposed to be the loves of each other's lives.

Jason and Sam: when the two actors involved look like they can barely stand to be in scenes with each other, much less intimate, and where the writers have to burn to the ground any idea that they had lives before or after each other.

Speaking of Jason/Liz, Jason doesn't give two craps about his son living with the serial killer that sexually assaulted his wife and had Carly's son raped, does he? (The fact that I referred to Michael as Carly's son and not Jason's nephew was on purpose because this version of Jason, I'm sure, sees Michael as predominantly a child of Carly.)

I enjoyed seeing her stand up to Shiloh, but I was bothered by the school's apparent lack of security. I don't think there are too many schools around today where people can just walk to a classroom. I accepted all the traffic at first, because the students were said to be on spring break, but now that school is apparently back in session, the audience should see or at least hear about some security measures should be being enforced.

I have really missed Tracy this week.  Tracy and Monica have a complex history but always have each other's backs in times like this.  I wish TPTB could coax Jane Elliot out of retirement for occasional visits to PC.  Monica needs a visit from the co-matriarch.

It really is something else. They can’t be oblivious to how this looks. Not only could they not write a 30 second scene for Sam to go tell Drew she was sorry his son died they couldn’t even write a word of dialogue for Sam to acknowledge Drew while talking about the death of his son and telling the daughter her and Drew share. I don’t want to get all agenda and conspiracy theory but these script writers must be being told under no circumstances can there even be a hint that Drew and Sam ever breathe the same air. Would anyone of their own accord really write a scene in which a woman can’t even be bothered to mention a man she once claimed to love while taking about his son that just died?

I can just imagine the conversation:

Edward: Lila, how many of these degenerates do we have to come back and escort?! Who was this Drew person? How many more of Alan’s bastard children are going to come out of the woodwork? I mean, this could go on forever!

Lila: There, there, Edward.

Edward: I’m just tired of climbing these damn stairs!

Lila: I know, Dear. So am I.

Yes. And oh, Tracy snarking at there being two Jasons would be delicious.

It is very crazy that Sam was saying how sorry she was to Jason, but I'm not ruling out her getting to say something to Drew, But Sam making it about Jason at all is crazy in and of itself.

I really doubt that Sam says anything to him. Just don’t see it happening.  Not within an appropriate time period. Maybe I’m wrong but doesn’t seem like the writers care.

Scott Sickles always writes terrible shows. They have really taken a beating to Sam's character. It is funny to read diehard Jasam fans spinning this shit like it is normal when everybody else calls it out for the bullshit it is. Kristina is safe with her parents away from the DOD house. They could have had Sam take a break from the cult nonsense for one day to help her ex grieve his son. Sam was at Rafe's bedside when he died and his dumbass gave Danny to crazy Heather thinking she was his nanny. She was also there to help Maxie when Nathan died. Told Edward. Danny was Jason's son while on his deathbed. So for her not to be there for Drew in his time of need is straight garbage.

They need to fix the bts mess so this show has somewhat of a chance to make it to 56.

I was a blubbery mess during yesterday's and today's episodes. Not so much because it was Oscar but because it reminded me of my last moments with a loved one before they passed. We're coming up on the anniversary and I've just been emotional. My cry today was about as ugly as Cameron's.

One thing I wondered about:  why wasn't Oscar covered up when they took him away?  Wouldn't he either be in a body bag, or covered completely?  Nit picky, I know.

And then this happened and it almost took me out of it. I get where they were trying to go with the scene, but they could have brought him out of the room on the stretcher (without us having to see Billy kinda flop the kid on there and them cover him haphazardly) and stopped in the hallway. It might have even been more emotional, tbh.

The rest of the episode? I... don't even want to talk about. Frickin' DoD, man...  🙄

Yup. I drank the Jasam koolaid and now I wonder how did I ever fan girl for this?

In our defense, when they show old clips I feel like Sam was played by a completely different actress. She was a lot more vibrant and oh I don’t know, Kelly Monaco was actually acting. I remember when she was pregnant with Lila and then when she lost the baby, it was a very sad and soapy story. I really loved Jason and Sam at that time. Now she is half asleep every day.

I thought it was funny when Oscar was thrown on the gurney. Drew just threw his arm over and when they wheeled him out his leg were way over the gurney. They could have been a little more gentile with the dead.

Yeah . . . maybe have him on the stretcher, and then have Billy gently pull the sheet up over his head, creating the sense of finality that would be needed, and actually some respect for the body while the whole family is standing there.

And second, in what universe do EMTs with a stretcher wait downstairs while the father carries the body to them?

I’d forgotten that part.  That was weird.  Isn’t that part of the job—loading a body and strapping it down?  Is there something upstairs the Quartermaines don’t want people to see...a gambling den, a bordello, more bodies?  I guess they just wanted to make it even more poignant having the father carry his dead son.  It was still weird.

If the writers don't want to portray Scam/Drew as closer than JaScam.... its the directors job to yell cut, move KeMo off of BM, and reshoot it.

Of course the writers will morph Scout into Jason's daughter... they already morphed Baby Girl McCall into Lila McCall and half of the JaScam Nation actually believe Jason and not Sonny was the biological dad.

Have to give acting credit where due: Oscar was excellent as a "dead body." People were slobbering all over him for hours and I did not see one twitch or breath. He was only dead a couple minutes when Joss woke up, but they had him painted super white already. He looked a bit like Eddie Munster.

He can't possible be the kidney donor, right? I mean, that would have required quick action and preparation, no? Plus he had cancer.

Sam could not go to the Q's, y'all. Have some sensitivity! She just found out Shiloh has a folder about her. A FOLDER!!!

She comes across an ENTIRE FILE CABINET of folders, hence the logical conclusion would be Shiloh has a file on every single member, yet she gets freaked out because he has one on her, too?  Truly, I know KeMo is working that mono baby voice, but do they have to give her the IQ of a toddler?

Maybe Drew can adopt Cam.

Cam clearly respects Drew and remembers that Drew almost became his stepdad, so AFAIC Drew should be his male role model. My ideal scenario remains that a loved one of one of Franco's victims can't live with the fact that Franco is walking around free, and kills him. Drew and Elizabeth lean on each other, and end up getting back together. BM has good chemistry with both the Cam and Jake actors (haven't seen him enough with the Aiden actor to comment.)

Yep. Ultimately, she was brought on to service X male character. She wasn’t intended to be her own character with her own connections. In fact, her backstory changed until one sympathetic story stuck with the audience. And at the time, Burton could really make any pairing work with his particular fanbase.

In theory yes. But don't forget what show you're watching.

Although if he were going to be the kidney donor, wouldn't he have been hooked up to something so that the kidney wouldn't die on the way to the hospital?

Curtis is married to his brother's widow. He's entirely capable of empathizing here and unlike Franco, hes actually had time to process the loss of his brother.

But RoHo has more contractual appearances so we're talking about Keeks instead of the families of any of the people he serial killed for his art

It wouldn't have worked as well for me. Losing a child (and Franco did think of Kiki as his child) is very different from losing a sibling. No one expects their child to do before they do. As well, Curtis' brother died so long ago that what he's feeling now are memories and regrets at what might have been, not the raw 'cursing the universe' pain of losing someone recently.

More cynically, without RoHo's contract, we probably wouldn't have got a scene like that at all. Drew was very much an afterthought to Joss and Uncle Jason in terms of who the show values.

I don't know whether the current writing reflects the intelligence of the writers or their perception of the intelligence of the audience, but it's getting progressively worse. It's kind of amazing, I keep thinking that it can't - and then it does!
