The trial was boring and Sam’s been so pathetic lately that I don’t care if she goes to prison. She’s been locked up and only had scenes with Jason, Cassandra, and Diane for the past month and I haven’t noticed a hole. Despite KM’s high episode count, I think this demonstrates how important is to the current canvas. We already know Jason will save the day so it’s a moot point. Hopefully, they’ll actually reference Sam spending time with her kids after this since they’ve brought up multiple times that being away from her children has been hard on her but I’m pretty sure Sam and Jason have another “adventure” waiting for them

And could they have gotten a worse smarmy idiot to play the U.S. Attorney? How he had the idiotic audacity to call Shiloh a hero?! Plenty of prosecutors have prosecuted defendants for killing people who weren’t pillars of the community. Or Shockingly,  who were scuzzbuckets. And the ridonkulousness of letting Sam and Jason take turns testifying. 
And Jason still sitting on the witness chair when the judge says she’s going to recess to make her ruling?!

OF COURSE Jason wears a suit for once in his life.

I can’t stand this new Brook Lynn. She’s like a totally different character! Is it too much to ask that recasts at least try to let the character be recognizable? Julian should have kicked her ass out.

I noted that, too, and wonder: Does it matter so much with a bench trial? 

But I don't care what happens to Sam. If she's found guilty, that will get reversed soon enough.

As far as I know, my own knowledge and that from the School of Law & Order, defendants always wear “street” clothes during trials, be they jury or bench trial.

But why I let this bother me, I don’t know.

No, I was just wondering. I don't think anyone has to have a reason for disliking or liking a character. I mean, sometimes I don't like a character because I don't like their style. I liked Kiki because she got a haircut.

I don't know if I agree or disagree yet. I guess I do disagree because I don't think she ever had much of an established character. I don't remember what Brook was like much in her original stint. She was a cipher imo. And the 2010-11 stuff was nonsense.

God, Steve Burton is quite simply the worst actor period. His so-called poignant stares were cringe beyond belief.

Sam's two children? Does she remember their names? I literally lost count at how many times she stopped to turn around and stare back at Jason. Worthless. Can we please lift these two right out?

Brad's threatening Julian with Sonny? Why doesn't Julian just step on him and squash him like a bug? He's short enough.

Aw, Ellie shoutout! Worth having Spinelli on just for that.

I can't say enough about how bad this Kim/Frew stuff is.

I was going to say that the best scenes were the Alexis ones, but McMayo was in them, so no. So I'm going with the debut of Brook Lynn. I've only seen one version of the character, and I barely remember that one. So I'm fine with anyone who throws down drinking. Who do we think she was talking to on the phone?

Hello indeed!  I thought her debut episode got bumped to tomorrow so seeing her was a very nice surprise.

To start on a shallow tip, Amanda Setton looks great.  It occured to me today that it's been ten years since Kimberly Andrews showed up in Llanview, scheming against Dillon Quartermaine and Lucas' doctor friend from Pennsylvania.  And, to my eye, she doesn't look much older than she did then.

I don't remember a ton about Brook from before, but while she was definitely reminding me of Kim (particularly during her mysterious phone call, curious to find out what that's about), nothing I saw really counteracted the image I had of Brook - someone a little no-nonsense, a little pushy.  It's not like she was giving that kinda of attitude to her dad or even Olivia.

And this set-up with Julian - forming a connection or possibly even hooking up before they realize the place the other has in their social orbit - is pretty clasically soapy, though I dunno if I would ship it long-term.  I saw some on Twitter lamenting the age difference, which given how hard I shipped Kim/Clint on OLTL, did not phase me in the slightest.  It's also interesting that she might find herself on the fringes of the baby swap secret, if the show remembers her long-ago friendship with Lucas or plays on the family connection with her and Michael.

So the big cliffhanger is Will Sam be found guilty or not. These writers really can't read the room.

It has moved beyond stupid as to why they don't test the supplement that Alexis is taking. Yes, her doctor okayed the list of ingredients; but it's not like what's on the label has never been the same as what's inside (see: baby formula)

This would be the logical step. I seem to remember Kendra throwing away the tainted supplement in Julian's dumpster after Alexis got sick. That's where the dead rat came from.

Is Spinelli on Jason's payroll?  Does he submit expense reports for all this ludicrious cross-country flights he keeps taking? 

Dranco decides not to leave town with Kim and have the memory procedure and, voila! his Southern accent disappears.

I wouldn’t mind Julian and BL hooking up assuming they have chemistry. Age differences don’t usually bother me when both characters are at least in their 30s. However, if they do hook up with Julian knowing who she is, I fear that WDV is not long for the show. If they go the skeevy route with Julian, it’s just going to give the rest of the town another reason to attack him and they’ve struggled with his character’s place on the show ever since they brought him back.

Brook has no prior character for AS to misappropriate. She is still compelling to watch even in a quick bit here. Adrienne Leon always bored me to tears. I would sooner put Brook back with Nikolas though, putting aside that whole weird escort thing.

Well, Diane did a good job in those scenes-- but KM was terrible-- is she on cold meds? seriously-- her 'acting' is practically non-existent at this point-- she's just reciting lines. Is she trying to act traumatized by the experience? because she's really just coming off sleepy.

and I agreed with @lala2 Kim continues to be the worst-- Liz is dealing with losing her husband, what a selfish, crazy beeotch.

It's not that she doesn't love Dougie and little Skyla, but she is just so ride-or-die. First she had Shayla's dad forcing her to wear skirts. Now the audience is trying to force her to do bedtime stories? She and Jason have tequila and pool to shoot.

I'm another who really had no fixed idea of what Brook was like, which any returning version could conflict with. I was watching in all of the years she was on as a young adult, but I just remember her being another face in the crowd during a dismal time for the youth set on GH.

I don't have anything against the new actress or the character, but I also don't have a history of liking this actress on other shows, and as first days go, this didn't knock me out. I thought Brook came off as obnoxious, and we already have so much of that in the female characters. Carly all by herself would be more than enough.   

Re: The mysterious phone call. She was telling someone that they "owe" her, she took the trouble of spelling "owe," and then she said they obviously had her confused with someone they could push around. Then "Oh, go to hell" as a sign-off. Just based on the character's history and what else is going on at the moment that they could conceivably tie her return to, I was assuming she was talking to Nik-Manuel Miranda.

THIS. And arrogant. It was enough to turn me off. And since I didn't watch One Life To Live (except in the late 70s to mid 80s), I've never seen this actress. Nor have I watched anything else she was in.

And I wasn't a fan of the original Brook Lynn, and HATED how SheBeast paid her to prostitute herself to break up Dante and Lulu. But I still had a sense of who the character was. Potato, potahto, I guess.

Maybe I was FFing too much but I thought that Diane (Carloyn Hennesy brought enough energy for two) did a lousy job defending Sam.  Doesn't a tape exist of Sam in captivity at Shiloh's casa - along with a picture of her BRAND (while her hero sat in a car outside staring off into space)?  Wouldn't the discovery of Shiloh's prior court case be admissible?  I still have absolutely no idea why Sam is behind bars and not out on bail.  Is she really a flight risk? I guess keeping KM behind bars prevents her from sucking the energy our of other plots - so there's that.

Meanwhile, Sam might want to reflect on why she is sitting in prison while Jason - who has committed exponentially more felonies than Sam is popping up in every plot in PC - and even assisting law enforcement in investigations - is free as a bird and not working 100% to get her out of jail.
