I think "stupid" only covers some of the movies mentioned here - more "movies we watch over and over".

I always enjoyed her movies.  I've also watched A Perfect Murder (not stupid) and A View from the Top (Kind of stupid) a bunch of times.  For anyone who likes those girly movies, I'd recommend giving the second one a whirl; just don't expect it to be Oscar Worthy.

 

I do think A View from the Top is stupid, but I don't think the producers et al set out to make Citizen Kane and don't pretend to have done so.   I watch it whenever I come across it and enjoy it a lot.

Twilight (any of them). I actually like the movies. I'm easily amused ;)

I'll stop there. My list would be endless if I don't. I am a repeat offender at rewatching movies I like. I even keep them on my dvr so I can rewatch them whenever I want.

"Protocol" with Goldie Hawn playing a ditzy waitress who literally bumps into a Middle Eastern emir and becomes the then-burgeoning cable news outlets' media darling while unwittingly becoming a State Department pawn. Yeah, it's silly and has a clunker of a speech by Miss Hawn's character in the end but it's somewhat mindlessly sitcom funny most of the time AND it gives a good [barely] parodying encapsulation of just HOW these news outlets hyped things back then!

omg...I thought I was the only one to see and even remember that movie!  I loved it, but until a few months ago, had never seen it on tv, so it had been years since I'd seen it.  However, I saw it enough the first time around that I remembered most of it:

 

"This must be one of your gay, Arab, biker, sushi bars."

 

And, with the whole Sarah Palin/SNL "I can see Russia from my house" thing in 2008, I thought of "No, I've never been out of the country.  Well, I was in Canada once, but that doesn't count because it's attached."  dozens of times that year (and since I don't want to get political: I know she never said that, just the Tina Fey character on SNL--but whenever it was commented on, it made me think of Protocol).

Watched Legally Blonde again and still love it. Too bad the second one sucked.

Saw She's All That and besides some parts that I FFed, I would easily watch this movie over and over again now that it's on my DVR.

They just readded The Replacements back to Netflix, and I forgot how much I love that movie.  It consistently makes me laugh throughout the entire thing, and even though a lot of the premise is kind of dumb (like, why would the cheerleaders be on strike just because the players were?), the cast has so much chemistry together that it makes me forget all those little details.

Many (many many) moons ago I did one of those Columbia House subscription things where you get the first 13 DVDs for like a penny and then must get some minimum number of DVDs over the next year or something (it actually wasn't that bad and the only unwanted DVD I received was Catch Me If You Can so totally not terrible).  Anyway, when signing up I picked like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Usual Suspects because, you know, trying to be not trashy.  However, which DVD have I watched the most since then?  Bring It On.  Do I really want to call Bring It On a stupid film?  Not really, it's the best.  But where I can probably quote (and sing and dance) along to every scene in that movie, I'm not sure I ever even opened The Usual Suspects.

Ben Stiller is a bit hit-or-miss for me but Tropic Thunder and Zoolander are among my favourite idiotic movies.  I didn't even enjoy Zoolander that much on first watch but the more you think about the various situations the more idiotically perfect it becomes.  (Sidenote: the concept of not being an "ambi-turner" is surprisingly relatable in life.)

I generally do not care for either Cruise or McConaughey, bit they were good here.

Totally agree on Stiller - I've liked him in Zero Effect, Something about Mary and Tropic Thunder.  Maybe I should give Zoolander a try....

I think it's just, "They froze the head and put it back on in a two-day operation. Use your imagination."  But I love that scene.

I love that whole film.  It came out while I was still watching a soap (I was down to only Guiding Light at that point -- largely because of shit like bringing back characters who have no heads), and I went to see it in the theatre with a friend who was still recording two or three of them.  We laughed so hard.

"She has more lines than I do and she's a goddamn mute!"

And when Celeste is going on about the turban making her feel like Gloria Fucking Swanson. 

And when she gives the motherhood speech she stole from her character. 

This movie is so good!

The Toy. I know it's stupid and the plot is so offensive that it would NEVER be remade today but some of it is cute.

I also wish I could have seen Richard Pryor's reaction when he found out that kid grew up to be a porn star.

It really is! And another thing I enjoyed was seeing the cameos of real life soap stars in it.

And now I'm peeved, because it's no longer available on Netflix! I thought I had it on dvd, but apparently not. Off to Amazon I go!

Seriously. There aren't any good romantic movies out there. And a movie about an interracial couple? Forget about it. There used to be cheesy teen ones that would end up being great movies (Clueless, 10 Things I hate about you, etc), and cute romantic comedies like While You Were Sleeping, Wedding Singer, but now it's just movies that care more about making a buck so it has to be CGI'd out.

I watched two of my favorite "stupid, but I can watch them a billion times" movies this weekend - Rush Hour and Rat Race.  Rush Hour works so well for me because Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have amazing chemistry, and honestly, I could watch the outtake scene over the end credits where Chris Tucker continually forgets Chelsea Clinton's name every day for the rest of my life.  And Rat Race is one of the few movies I remember where the entire theater I was in laughed so uproariously at parts that it drowned out the dialogue.  I can't even pick a favorite character; everyone in it is just so funny, even Gloria Allred.  I do remember being in tears during the Jon Lovitz-at-a-WW2 rally part, but Whoopi Goldberg's adorably clueless character never fails to make me laugh.  "Oooh, a scam?  Sign us up!"

That's so weird, GHSR. I belong to a price comparing site, and the cheapest price I could find is 19.96 on Half.com. Maybe it's considered a classic at this point?

In other news, I was channel surfing on Starz the other night, and I stumbled across a movie called Agent Cody Banks, which I'm afraid is about to become the guiltiest of my guilty pleasure movies. I don't know if I would call it "stupid", but it is pretty silly, and yet I don't think I'll be able to resist watching it over and over, because Angie Harmon.

The only time I've ever seen an obnoxious price hike like this is when an actor in said movie has died, or when a famous musician-like when Michael Jackson died suddenly-the making of Thriller shot up. I'm sure the same happened with Purple Rain after Prince died.

As far as I know, everyone in this movie is still among us.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I watch some or most of it every damn time it's on. Jason Segal cry-singing The Muppet Show theme, Bill Hader being awesome Bill Hader, Russell Brand before we were tired of him, beautiful locations. Side note, I chose my hotel in Hawaii based on the location of the film, and I was not disappointed!

Since the new Lonely Island movie is about to come out, I have to throw the other one in here - I freaking love Hot Rod.  Andy Samberg and Ian McShane are both hilarious in it, a lot of the gags are funny, and I actually find some parts of it oddly sweet.  I have watched that movie more times than I care to admit.

This isn't a stupid movie at all but one of my childhood obsessions was The Great Muppet Caper, which I watched repeatedly.  It was put on Netflix last year and I watched it again and remembered nearly every line.  I was actually surprised how much I remembered, considering it had been (I had to count twice to believe it was true) about 25 years since I last watched it.  In those 25 years I have experienced and forgotten more things than I care to acknowledge (my entire university degree among them) and yet I have managed to retain a perfect memory of the fabulous Baseball Diamond heist.

(One of my favourite lines in the entire movie is Lady Holiday, in response to Ms. Piggy asking "why are you telling me all this?" saying, "It's plot exposition, it has to go somewhere."  I didn't know what "plot exposition" was but the line stuck with me and I finally got to laugh at it years after the fact.)

This is a stupid movie that I hadn't seen before until this morning, but I will be watching over and over from now on.  It's called Piranha 3DD and it's got Gary Busey, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, and...David Hasselhoff playing his drunken self.  It's kinda like Sharknado, but with piranhas. 

 Anyway, there's a line that one of the women says as she runs out of the room where she was getting it on with this guy:

"Josh cut off his penis because something came out of my vagina!!!"

That cracked me up.  Poor Josh.
