S07.E01: The B Is Back

Yeah, she's seems all right to me, too. Watching how she was with Ramona, really being empathetic to Ramona's issues and offering words of advice (as opposed to whipping it back around to her own divorce) highlighted how different Ramona's meal with Sonja went.

I saw that! Every time the camera showed Ramona from over Sonja's shoulder, my eyes fixated on the spots on the back of Sonja's blazer. I was like, What am I seeing? I had to squint to be certain.

Duck walk?

Right? Maybe Sonja needs another  antiquities intern from a good school, to check the threadbareness of her wardrobe, carpets, furniture. Hell the whole house.

For the life of me I can't remember the term for someone who walks with their feet out (think of a clock's hands at 10 minutes to 2) and their legs apart. There's a term for that and she fits it to a tee!!

Slue-footed. Lisa Vanderpump has a bad case of it too.

I'll have to watch again and look for those moth holes. They must've been decent sized to be caught on tv.

There's no way Sonja didn't see that! Dorinda's bf could've repaired that for her...

I saw 2 marks on the back of the jacket but I thought they were hanger marks.  Didn't look that closely.  Sonja probably still has the tags on it.  Too bad B. Altman's closed or she could return it.

She and Harry Dubin bought the red poodle (Rouge) last season when they were trying to make their "relationship" work.  I just caught that episode today, plus I have the same dog so I was particularly interested.  They were going to take it on vacations and restaurants with them.  I guess she got the dog, and Harry will remain a dog.

I'm concerned about the dogs!. I know most people don't care, however this is an example of what Sonja truly is. She had the first white dog love of her life that died. Then last season she got another white dog that she was very mean to because that sweet dog wanted too much attention. Now she has the cute  brown dog who seems pretty mellow and more to her liking. So what happened to the other dog? If she got rid of it, I will continue to hate her forever.

They're back!! HOLLA!!! (ugh)

This was my favorite franchise in the early seasons, but waned heavily from season 4 on (I'm starting to think Kelly and Cindy the hoo-ha waxer put a curse on before they left), so I'm interested to see how the show feels now that Bethenny is returning.

First reaction-- Too many ladies. It's bad enough on RHOA with the number of Housewives + Friends of Housewives, but EIGHT housewives is two too many. I don't see how the storylines are going to develop for this many women and makes me wonder if they are perhaps preparing for a cast shift if the show makes it to season 8.

The "B": Oh Beth, I want to like you. In fact, in first three seasons you were easily my favorite. But you are making it darn hard to like you after the first episode. Perhaps spending some of your enormous wealth on a good therapist would help you a great deal. You're not homeless. Yes, I understand divorce is hard... but that sobbing scene with Tag in the car about "your house"? Good God Girl, Get a Grip.   I'm extremely interested to see how "new Bethenny" reintegrates into the show.

Lu Lu: Why are you my favorite now? She seems much freer and more natural now than ever before. None of the early season pretention, none of the middle season mean girl... and I like it.

Carole: A cool chick to be sure, but I get the teeniest impression that she's starting to buy her own hype. The scene with the publisher was pretty off-putting. I know she never needs to work again, but if you are going to sign contracts and (I assume) cash advance checks, then you need to do the work.   I get where she and Bethenny would get along personality-wise, but the work ethic seems that it couldn't be more different.

Holla: Didn't see much of her, but I'm especially curious where her story will go, since it appears Bethenny will occupy the "tell it like it is" friend slot on the show. I do think she brings something to the cast, I just don't know what it'll be.

Kristen: I'm as confused as anyone why she's here.

Ramona: I honestly hope she's the central storyline this season, but I don't think we'll get that lucky. Clearly, the woman has been very humbled by what's going on around her, but she's sharp and savvy so she should be OK. The question, as she evolves through the season is whether this improves her (i.e.: Lu), becomes her central defining characteristic (i.e. Beth) or goes completely off the rails (i.e.......)

Sonja: Gurl. Really? I know from sloppy Ho'wives. I've seen Kim Richards... and you are no Kim Richards.   I do wonder if the reason for the enlarged bushel of apples handed out this season has something to do with the potential of Ms. Morgan being voted off the island. Because when even RAMONA finds you tedious? "You in danger, girl!"   Obviously her behavior will be a major plot point in the early season, but I worry (because I used to dig her in the beginning) that she'll end this season with 8 interns, a Marie Antoinette wig, a restraining order from Molly Ringwald.... and no apple.

So yeah, looking forward to see where we get to.

In the first seasons, I loved Bethanny. Not so much now. That BS about being homeless was offensive, Homeless people have no place to sleep because they can't afford it. Going from luxury hotel to luxury hotel to the Hamptons does not qualify for homeless status. Frederick looked kind of horrified when B started crying. B also hasn't lost her touch in the saying something inappropriate department, but it's no longer cute or funny.

Yes, Bethenny's schtick has worn thin. Her voice is grating. She is not funny anymore. Her being back on the show only proves that she couldn't stand being out of the spotlight for a minute. Plus, doesn't she have a new book to promote? I love how she spins her talk show being cancelled by saying SHE didn't enjoy it, it wasn't the right fit for her, SHE didn't like being told what to do. Ok right, Beth. It wasn't cancelled because you sucked at it and people just don't like you.

So I bought the exact same Longchamp bag that has been my everyday bag for YEARS.  Someone asked me why I couldn't just do a Sonja on the old one.  Everyone at the table laughed.  Yup, Sonja the old bag.  She's a verb now.

I like what she brings to the table as a young married woman with little kids. That and her clothes make up for the O face. I'll first get rid of Carole who has zero appeal.

Didn't Jerry Seinfeld's dry cleaner wear his clothing?

Bethenny calling Fredrik a queen, that must go over well with Andy.

Does she ever NOT bring a conversation around to sex.

How many times has she said "I have a child/daughter"

Please stop with the crying, you could easily buy a place that doesn't need renovating. But that would be too easy and Bethenny has to make everything complicated.

And she is staying in the best suite in the hotel for a few days. boo hoo.

I did not miss Heather last night.  Wht's with the Holla???  Thought that would be put to rest.  Starting to sound so dated like the 80's or something.  Did not enjoy her bitchy self last season.  She spent the furst season being overly fake nice and smiling incessantly.  So she went to the other side last season.  Wonder what we'll get this go round especially with more competiton.  Kristen could go awaya and I don't think anyone would notice. And Carole acting ditzy with her publisher?  WTF?  Whats a contract, I'm busy being very attracted to very attractive guys!  Guess we know her stroyline this season.

Oh to be "homeless" in the penthouse suite of the NYC Essex House Hotel overlooking Central park while I reminisce about the Oscar De La Renta gown I wore to a celeb gala where I grinded against Jamie Foxx. Dry those poor vagabond tears with the Jim Beam millions Bethanny.

Listen, I feel her pain!  She's not faking!  Why, just a few months ago, SHE WAS FORCED TO WEAR HER LITTLE GIRL'S PAJAMAS!!  Obviously Jason got her big girl wardrobe.

I have a feeling with eight wives, every episode is going to have a "Heather" -- by which I only mean that this week, we only saw Heather for about ten seconds.

Still, after watching the RHOBH reunion that was full of toxicity and emotional trauma, I'm really looking forward to RHONY. There was an ample amount of fashion and house porn (the views from Bethenny's hotel! The Balmain dress and Fendi bag!), but yet what a lot of these are woman are going through is a universal experience.

Dorinda will be interesting to me. She seems aware that her daughter is likely using her for the financial stability and free rent ("She left college to find herself. I'm not sure how one finds herself on the Upper East Side"), but I think there's probably a lot of guilt going on; her father divorced her mother and the stepdad she loved passed away, and perhaps Dorinda feels Hannah has been through the wringer. It's a delicate balance, I'm sure.

Man, that scene with Ramona/Sonja told everything. Sonja had Penelope on SNL/one-up syndrome! About divorce! And Ramona kind of has you beat there, because she was married to the guy for a quarter of a century.

To the poster upthread who asked when-abouts this was filmed, Luann's Estate Sale happens in the next ep (according to the preview video of Sonja Ramona and Dorinda in  Ramona's Hamptons kitchen) and that took place Oct 24, 2014.

And here's what she sold! I loved that breakfast nook.

Maybe they need some actual HouseWives on the show?  Kristin and Heather are the only ones who fit that description anymore.  Show should be called Real Divorcees/Widows of NY instead.

Lu looks lovely, but I noticed they're shooting her in soft focus, especially the TH's, and you can see her plastic surgery is starting to take its toll with the distinct hollow/crease where her cheeks meet her eyes.  That would be a facelift, I believe, where the cheeks are pulled back, but the eyes stay in place.  The soft-focus was driving me crazy because I kept trying to get a good look at what was different about her face.

Like others, I was so excited about the return of Bethenny and sick of her after the first three minutes. Well, it should be interesting to see how things evolve.

Speaking of spinning, Ramona (on WWHL) is still characterizing her spilt as her doing. According to her, Mario begged for another chance after cheating, and Ramona tried but just couldn't, and threw him out. I dunno.... It's like the old "You're fired!" "You can't fire me, I quit!" routine.

Hmm, If Lu Ann did indeed get a facelift, her surgeon did an impeccable job. Very natural looking. I wouldn't be shocked that she's had it done bc she sounds like she's a heavy smoker and that's one of the worst things you can do for your skin among other things.

I have some sympathy for Ramona, but not much.  She wore out my sympathy when she flat out lied about Mario and the state of their marriage at last year's reunion and throughout the season.

That's why I was trying so hard to get a closer look at her face - it does look natural, but that's aided by the soft-focus shooting quite a bit.

Carole is still pretending she is 22. That scene with her publisher was so ridiculous. Carole is smart. She knows a deadline is a binding contract. Don;t act all stupid girl!

This has been my suspicion about Carole from the minute I first saw her bare feet on the dash of Russ' car.  Oh, yeah...that again.  That clip in and of itself wasn't a big deal.  It was just a feeling for me but it started the whole ball rolling in my mind that this was a woman/child. The anger over someone copying her sunglasses, the birthday party planning, middle of the night Wiki editing sessions, some of her tween clothing choices, the pigtails (duck tomatoes), now her inability to honor work commitments.

Yes, she's been successful and driven in her past but maybe losing her business momentum as she gets older is one of the mature things she's doing.  I can relate to that. LOL

Yeah, that doesn't sound right to me. It sounds like something Ramona would cook up just to save face, a little. Anyone who has ever watched the show could see that Mario was not that into Ramona, he was practically giddy whenever she went on a trip out of town without him and he was never in a hurry to see her come back, so I'm calling bs on that. She was more into him than the other way around. I think he loved her in the 'You're the mother of my daughter' kind of way and we share a history together. Once Avery went away to college there was not enough there to keep him in the marriage. He ended it on shitty terms. He looked like he was always cruising for someone younger. Ramona was in denial big time bc everyone else saw it but her.

Here's what I learned this episode:

LuAnn is experiencing yet another fresh start.

Bethenny doesn't agree with the Captain and Tennille song, “Love Will Keep Us Together”.

According to Kristen, Josh has changed.

Sonja was with Ole Man Morgan for like a bazillion years.

Ramona is not going to allow Mario to control what she says anymore.

Dorinda is known as “Uptown Chic.”

Carole has written a Table of Contents in 6 months.

Heather is still the cool girl because she knows about Tinder.

U[quoe]I used to really like Bethenny, and a part of me still wants to, but...she makes it so difficult. I was really annoyed when she asked the bellhop for fucking olives and walked away self importantly, saying "when you're done with that." Who does that?! Since she lives in hotels now, she should know to call room service for a request like that.

I Think when you stay in the presidential suite, you can ask anybody for anything and they'll be happy to get it for you.

The problem's not that Bethenny asked the bellhop guy to do something for her but the dismissive tone in which she asked for it.  Uggh, I was just cringing with second-hand embarrassment (and a little anger!) when she was bossing that guy around.  Bethenny just makes me ill.  So ill-mannered.  She should be ashamed.  I hope she watches the show and reflects on her behavior - some self-awareness is in order.

Love NYC, but this cast? NOPE.

Oh I would totally hang out with Luanne. Even if it was just to get her to spill her skin care regimen and the name of her dermatologist. I'd also hang with Heather.  And possibly Carole.

Hell, I'd even hang out with Ramona and/or Sonja at least once--if only to stare true crazy and delusional right in the eye.

New girl Dorinda:

I agree with posters who think she is out of place. On RHONJ she would be the new Queen...in Uptown Manhattan? no, not so much. I did like her convo with Ramona, she was very kind to her. Her daughter was scary, let's hope she saw the tape and headed straight to Stacy or Clintons office for a voluntary make-over. I can see her hanging around with Teresa & Nicole from RHONJ, or their mother. She definitely looks older than her age. Most of my friends and myself are in this age group, and Dorinda looks older than her age to me.

Kristen & Josh. Ugh. Was hoping she wasn't asked back, she's too much. Happy to see her daughter is up and running around, that's wonderful. Kristen is just annoying, nothing else.

Ramona. Let's see if there's truly any genuine growth. Avery seems lovely, which leads me to believe she was raised well, plus Ramona does work hard in her business. Ramona does look better than ever. What beauty secret is she hiding?!

Not sure how I feel yet about the other ladies. They seem the same to me, but that remains to be seen.

OK, first off, Lu's house was in Bridgehampton.  Big difference from Southampton, where the most expensive real estate (along with East Hampton) is located.  Bridgehampton homes are mostly located inland & not so close to the beach.  Sag Harbor, while quite nice, is not located on the Atlantic Ocean, as are East Hampton & Southampton & a tiny portion of Bridgehampton.  Sag Harbor is located north, around the harbor.  As far as Lu's location change, I'd say she broke even.

ITA           The only real person of note who lives in Sag Harbor is Caroline Kennedy.   Correct me if I am wrong.       Anyone know where Ramona's house is located?

It has always looked outdated both outside and inside, but the backyard is quite nice.

I like Heather because her vacation home is in the Berkshires where I used to live.  Its a beautiful place with lots of history and you can have a really crazy or relaxed time there.   We used to call it the Berserk-shires.

New Yorkers are tolerated there only because they bring in revenue.  They pollute the place in the summer with honking horns, impatience and loud voices with accents that grate on the nerves.

That pissed me off too but I do think Bethenny is relatively polite to staff as far as the whole of the Real Housewives go. (She greeted and thanked the doormen, etc.)   Imagine Ramona's rude ass duck-stomping into a hotel, she would be like "DOORMAN, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO OPEN THE DOOR MUCH FASTER FOR ME WHY AREN'T YOU DOING YOUR JOB CORRECTLY."

I knew she would be horrible now, but she's even worse than I expected. You cannot sit in a huge suite at Essex House overlooking Central Park and cry that you're homeless. Right?  What's another 50 or 60K in the grand scheme of things.  But to be fair, they might have purchased it that way.  Although what was to stop them from calling in the Pool Master, Anthony Archer Wills.  A waterfall here, a grotto there.  Then they'd really have something.

Can't wait til next week to see Lu's new Hampton digs.  Whoever said Sonja and Ramona need to take divorce lessons from Lu was right.  She's got her small-ish apartment in the city and a quaint house in the Hamptons.  The older I get, the more I want to downsize and trick out a smaller house (or two) in a really desirable location(s).

The little people on the show have had every opportunity to say if that is true or not.  There is no show so nothing to lose and a couple dollars to make selling a story to the tabloids.  I waited for that.  There has never been an incident documented or a little person as a source.  So I see this as more of stuff tabloids make up in order to fill space.  I won't hold any of that against someone.
