Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

These people idolize the Puritans and they are delusional. I'm related to lots of Puritan families and they are nothing to be proud of- started wars with the natives, cheated them out of land, forced out people who didn't worship their deity the correct way, had really ugly clothes and the haircuts! Dear god the haircuts.*

Not to mention all the "witches" they hung in New England. Yea some stand-up humans.

I refer to the cartoons of puritans of course, which may or may not be historical at all lol.

Honestly, I don't think that being Christian or religious equals being a good person. I think that concept has to die.

I agree.I know plenty of ppl who church hopped, before the pandeminic, hob knobbing for political and business reasons. One man in particular,a local politician, was quite good at it.Or I should say, quite bad at it.I know some ppl would refuse to shake his hand when he came up to ppl who were talking amongst themselves. He would stick out his hand, and they would just ignore him.He worked at the local news station, and he acted like everyone should just stop and gawk at him, like.he's that guy on the news!

Others would hand out business cards.

Obv. these types go to church for personal gain

I was comparing the food on Jill's table to the Keller's. The Keller's had their plates piled high with food. I am sure everyone had seconds or thirds. At Jill's the plates seem emptier and the platters not that big. That pan of stuffing (I think) isn't enough for 40 people. I hope she had extras.

I recall the lone turkey they had at Jill's a couple years ago.The one with the ketchup heart drawn on it.There were more pies than turkey and other foods.I guess they all got full on pie.

I guess Jill's mom thinks she can't get the virus again?Which may not be true.Idk if she has even thought that she might could still spread it by being a carrier

I'm guessing she'll pretend they're on another road trip while they all recover

And now I'm wondering which is the bride? And normally I'd check myself for asking but with these nitwits, don't have to.

I'm still waiting for someone to name their kids Judas and Jezebel. That would be great for twins.LOL

Yes, the kids have no say in it. As for them making it public, maybe, but not if it gets real bad. Ugh. My friend shared something on FB from a pastor that basically says, I trust God, but I wear a seatbelt when I drive, I trust God, but I have a smoke detector in my house etc.... and ends with wearing a mask.

I agree. My dad taught me something that clicked for me growing up.i was mad because I thought God would/should heal something immediately. When it didn't happen,my dad told me that this is the physical world, the way God made it,and as such,He works within those physical limitations. He said it would take at least 3 days for my swelling to go down, because that is the way God designed the body to work. And that really clicked for me,I got it

I’d pay money to have someone ask Jill on camera to define communism.

I thought "socialists" were the new bogeyman. Jill's reference to communists puts her in the same era as her makeup and hair.

Something seems off.

JillR has shown more food pictures in the last year than she ever has. I get that she's trying to prove to her followers and DCF that her kids are fed and cared for, but where is the money coming from? Is this something that happens each time they move? Do they initially get a lot of donations that wane away over time? Surely they've gone through any profit from the sale of their old house by now.

Plexus can't be that profitable and JillR is reaching that point in the MLM scheme where most end up dropping out because their lower levels don't sell enough product.

They're a family with 11 or 12 kids, with no real source of income. I know families with 2 or 3 kids, with both parents working, who appear to have a tighter budget than the Rods.

Carlin did an IG Story, waiting in an examination room for Layla's 10 month check-up (yay). During the video Layla is standing holding onto a chair for a bit and for half the video Carlin's mask is below her nose. Then Carlin proceeds to repeatedly kiss Layla with her mask on.

They really don't get it. If the patient(s) before them, or a nurse or MD, has covid, that room is filled with it. Carlin not only lets her kid paw a communal chair, but she smothers her kid's face with a germy mask, all the while inhaling germs through her nose. Idiots is what they are.

Seeing all those kids crawling around for the candy made me so uncomfortable considering all that's going on. My kid is turning 9 Saturday and the only people coming over are her grandparents who are already in our bubble. I wish it was different but it unfortunately is what it is. Her cake is probably going to be bigger than what those two birthday girls got combined but that's one of the benefits of having a mom who does that for a living. There's no way those two cakes fed everyone there.

This is so true.  They also idolize the Amish, who like all communities, have their share of serious problems, too.  Not to mention some of them run puppy mills and treat their animals badly.  I always wonder if Jill is aware of some of the dark issues in that community.

Her own mother had Covid in October and Jill barely made mention of it.  She never said anything about it on social media.  Someone brave enough to listen to one of her church's sermons heard her mention it quickly before a song.  Then she laughed and said she was safe because she hadn't seen her mom since Nurie got married in July.

And the Rodrigues family's old pastor in West Virginia has been on life support for Covid for many weeks.  Jill never once has mentioned him.  She only thinks of Jill.

The actors get their sallow skin and dark eye circles from makeup. The Rod kids get theirs from malnourishment and lack of sleep. However, I'm sure if Jill saw this photo, her only concern would be how shockingly immodest the rags on the little girl are. Jill is just that crazy.

I don't think she would care--she neglects and starves her own children, so unfortunately, I don't think she's going to care or notice if anyone else neglects or abuses an animal. She's that heartless and self-centered.

Barefoot on that nasty dirty floor and fighting for a few pieces of candy! How sad and depressing. Also I bet the Fosters bought both birthday cakes.

They didn't even get cake, they got 2 store-bought cream pies that were probably leftover from Thanksgiving.

Nurie is so lucky to be out of that hell hole where one normal size turkey allegedly feeds 40 people. I’m happy for her that she gets to have full meals. Sure she has to return several times a year, but she gets to leave.

And sprayed with spittle from the candle blowing. How nice.

Jill said her family stayed for a few days. Where did they stay? The barndo can barely hold the people who live there. I suppose the unheated stink van was pressed into service, but yuck.

Jill was obviously trying to outdo the Kellers, maybe out of spite, but it didn't exactly turn out that way. The Kellers won simply by having enough food for everybody.

How likely is it that Jill was expecting an invite to load up the entire fam and head south to hang out with her daughter's new Duggar-adjacent family for Thanksgiving and when that didn't materialize she went into manic hyperdrive - grifted the ingredients for 47 fruitcakes, a Thanksgiving dinner and a birthday party, then spent the majority of the past several days flailing around her house, screaming and taking hundreds of pictures to prove to Nurie and Ma Keller and Anna Duggar just how BUSY and FUN and WONDERFUL a time they were having in the Barndo?  And once company was gone, she went full No Wire Hangers mode on her family and cried black-mascara rivulets down her face?  I mean I hope this was not the case but Jill seems extra-unhinged as of late.

My opinion has always been that they receive a shitload of SNAP benefits/food stamps.  With that many kids they could easily get $1200+/month of government benefits to buy food.

What kid do you know when asked what kind of birthday cake do you want answers no cake Ma just a pie with whip cream on top?  No kid that I have ever known. I agree with the poster who said these pies were most likely on sale after Thanksgiving.

I actually had 2 kids that hated cake - they always picked pie, cheesecake and at least once, doughnuts for their bday. the difference is they got to have an opinion about cake and could choose something else.

the rod kids surely don't have a say in what they like or want. it seems more "here's what we have or here's what we grifted".  the dingii came to your party and brought cupcakes.... the family brought pies....oh we had these little debbie cakes and some candles....

I've never tried to feed that many people on a regular basis, but I'd guess it's difficult but possible with good planning and cooking from scratch. There are several young children who don't need large meals, but there are a number of adults too. And then there's David. I wouldn't want to turn the older kids into kitchen slaves (Jill doesn't seem to do much) but nutrition is more important than dusting collectables. The physical appearance of these children is appalling, and I think it's more than just being poor. They are right out of Dickens. Something is really off with this family.

I think one of the parents needs to put in at least 20 hours a week at a real job to get benefits.Which we know they don't do.They may get help from food pantries, though

I’m sure David claims he is working for himself at the “printing business.” They would accept that.

Finally catching up here after Thanksgiving, and holy hell, Jill's "turkey funeral" idiocy has my blood boiling. What is wrong with her?? I would wish a horrendous case of Covid on her at this point but as the wife of a hospital nurse tech, that would mean healthcare workers are put in danger caring for her after this ignorant display of complete assholery. I hardly ever say fuck, but FUCK YOU, Jill. You are the reason healthcare workers like my husband are working all night long for 12 hours when they're only scheduled for 4 because there's no one else available to come in, and taking on twice the normal patient load, some of whom have Covid, and doing it because they care about supporting their coworkers and they care about the promises they made to themselves to care for patients who desperately need their help, even when all of that comes at great personal cost. What does Jill care about? Nothing but Jill. What would Jill sacrifice for the good of others? Nothing. How very Christian. My husband spent Thanksgiving sleeping in my parents' basement apartment after pulling an all-nighter at the hospital and got to see his children on FaceTime when he woke up, and got a turkey breast put outside his door by my dad for his dinner. And if Jill showed up in his hospital he would do all of that, again, in order to give her the care she does not deserve.

Because it can't be said enough at this point - fuck you, Jill!

A big thank you to your husb. and others like him for working in health care during these trying times! And for the sacrifices he and your family, and other families like yours are making
