Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Not a single brown-eyed brunette in the bunch. And there are plenty of brown-eyed brunette Bateseseses. Heck, Alyssa is a brown-eyed brunette.

Don't many Caucasian children get darker hair as they get older? (May be blondish as babies but brunettes post puberty)

They do & they all look like young women having fun.  Something I don't see with the Duggar girls.

The Duggar girls must be a little bit of fun.  They've been in Bates weddings and Bates girls are in Duggar weddings.

The Bateseses are every bit as diabolical as the Duggars, but they do it with joy and laughter.  I always wished that Jana would marry a Bates boy.  I feel Kelly would really embrace Jana and give her the maternal love she's always deserved.  I don't like how Kelly's reportedly manipulated Whitney away from her adoptive parents, but I'd happily watch her unleashed against the Duggar matriarch.   Plus, aren't Jana and Michael BFFs?  I'm sure Kelly already has a soft spot for Jana because she's so similar to her eldest daughter.

As I understand it, it's all about being open to however many children God decides to send to the couple.  So to that particular viewpoint anything that stands in the way of conception is wrong.

Yet, God is full of miracles.  If he really wanted women to be pregnant, evil atheistic science would fail and these women would fall pregnant regardless.

What kills me is these "reversal" men couldn't have been complete pigs before they were saved from their evil atheist and Eastern philosophical paganism ways.  They were caring and realistic enough to realize how much easier and safer it was to have an in office procedure versus their wives having abdominal surgery.  I can't tell you how many modern and open-minded men  I know who refused to be snipped and made their wives go through surgery instead.

These people need to drag themselves out of the Old Testament.  It's like they don't realize the world changed when Jesus came and died for us all.

Morons. Complete morons.  Totally incapable of understanding Jesus, and manipulating his message to spew hate out into the world.  I know I sound horribly vindictive and I struggle with this, but I wish I could be present when each of these fools learns how wrong and perverted their beliefs are.  And there they will stand - babbling about how it's the Godless Liberals' fault.

That picture is so cute. I love the coordinating outfits.

The girls are in onesies...no overlaying skirts!!!

The head-bows get more hideous as they go down the line....the baby on the right looks like she's getting  ready to dust Scarlett O'Hara's credenza.

Most do, but I know many (mostly guys) who never went past dirty blonde and one towhead. Men have all the luck. I don't even know what my natural hair color is anymore. Medium brown and gray? The color I choose is about Jana's. I'm too fair to go much blonder.

I was very much a bald baby. When my hair grew, it was strawberry blonde/light red. It became brown by age four. My hair today is a medium brown color with natural red tones and some highlights.

I was a bald baby as well. When my hair came in, it was a medium brown, which darkened two or three shades as I grew up. My older son has similar hair. My daughter was fairly blonde until she was about four, but her hair went to a medium to darkish brown as well. My younger son had blond hair with an abundance of streaks in all shades up until he was eight or nine, and has sort of medium brown hair as an adult. My husband's family of seven siblings, except for him (his hair was always a bit darker and matured to dark brown), were all towheads as children, but only two stayed blond into adulthood.

Ah you're grand. That's the way I feel as well. They just pick and mix as they see fit, which results in a horrible joyless kind of religon, with no hope ever.

That baby photo is very cute though. They do produce some nice wee babies.

Cooper Bauer, by the way is, according to his LInkedIn-- "Actively seeking an engineering internship"

Which is interesting since he doesn't seem to have any training or experience that's relevant to this. Right now he's managing events for a company that does robotics. But I'm thinking that the events management person and the engineers seldom even see each other in the hallway.

And it seems likely that most of the engineers who joined the Gothard cult have probably stopped being engineers and are now working as lawncare specialists, engineering generally requiring interaction with non-Gothards and all, in most cases.

So this pushed my buttons. I can tell you from personal experience (I work for a medical center in marketing/education/outreach,/event planning, and my husband and half his family are Professional Engineers, or somehow involved in construction), no legit engineering firm, or even the DOT for whatever state this Bauer kid resides, is going to hire an Engineering Intern (E.I. is a specific designation), without him having graduated from an accredited engineering program (or equivalent i.e. architecture, etc. in some states), AND passing the F.E. (fundamentals of engineering) exam, which is the precursor to the PE exam.

He might get some part time summer job for a place that hires engineers, and falsely calls it an 'engineering internship', but he cannot be an E.I., AND LET ME STRESS AGAIN THERE IS A LEGAL DIFFERENCE IN THE DESIGNATION, without the education and passing the tests.

In layman's terms, this would be like a teenager who works as a candy striper at a nursing home, who empties trash and brings patients snacks, to call themselves a nurse or in a nursing internship.

As someone who does a lot of event planning, there is nothing, NOTHING, nothing that would qualify me for an engineering internship. NOTHING. Not any sort of engineer, whether it be civil, chemical, hydraulic, landscape, geotechnical, industrial, electrical, or even the guy who drives a train (totally different type of engineer, I KNOW).  At this point, I can keep up with conversation with engineers, and understand the gist of when they're talking about pre-loads and grading, etc., but no way could I draw up plans for anything, and even if I could, it would be illegal.

I really don't like the photo with the babies, it's iverly filtered and doesn't seem genuine

I don't understand the heavy filters, either. They're babies. They don't need skin retouching.

Speaking of education credentials, I wonder what type of license, certificate, Austin has in flipping houses.  People who hang dry wall, lay tile, rewire electrical, reroute plumbing, etc, all have to be properly certified and up to code- don't they?

If he's in one of the states that doen't like those evil government regulations that may not be an issue for him.  I highly doubt he is affiliated & has gone through the training with a trade union.

I'm praying that's just leftover baby belly from Brooklyn and not a new pregnancy. I wonder why Erin didn't just leave both kids at home. Maybe Whitney is watching Brooklyn while Chad's at work and Erin didn't want to dump two kids on her when she already has young children of her own.

I think it's just the dress pulling. She always wears vests like Kelly now, so she might be feeling a bit self-conscious after having two babies. And may I opine that the dress is not my favorite choice of mine. It's too formal for a weekday; we already know Michael was a bridesmaid at a wedding in TN over the weekend, and this was taken in Chicago.

I think Michael is the more 'orthodox' sister. She seems to be stricter, wears less flattering clothes and shoes than her sisters do. She also seems quite strict and more severe in all ways to me. Someone needs to tell her that it's ok to loosen up a bit. I'm sorry about her not being a mother yet as I know it's the end all for her. Nothing wrong with taking good advantage of the time these two have as a couple to get to really know one another. That's important too and they don't seem to value that time IMO.

Forgot about that sad pic of the Paines. Erin doesn't have a bridesmaid's dress on, but is seeing Navy, so I assume she pounded the piano.

This is when it was confirmed to me that "perfect" Chad was anything but.  As an older brother he had a voice in this decision.  Instead he supported it and dragged his family there to give it credence.  He either cares nothing for his sister, thinks marriage to a forcible sodomizer is more Godly than spinsterhood, or he's perfectly gutless.  I'm not sure which is worst.

I just realized/remembered Tabitha's bridesmaids dresses were also navy. Her bridesmaids looked downright classy & sophisticated compared to the Joy schlumpfest wedding.

Class and sophistication be damned.  I know which wedding I'd choose.

The man Tabitha married is 16 years older than she is (46-years-old), which is old enough to be her father.  He works as a freelance handyman and as a security guard for clown college.  Even without his sicko past as an anal rapist, I can't believe she married this guy.  Two years ago in an interview she was resigned to the fact that she would probably never get married.  This is the quiverfull mindset that says women have to be married, no matter what.

Sadly, the same thing could happen to Jana.

I guess that as long as he isn't a cheating divorcee who can pass Boob's stupid 50 page survey, which I am sure covers sin and redemption, any prospect would pass Boob's smell test.

Dr. Paine, Gil Bates, and Boob are cut from the same cloth; we just haven't seen an older guy chase a Duggar or Bates girl yet. Jeremy's night in the drunk tank comes closest, but redemption, y'all! And a 100 page reply to Boob's survey, likely peppered with polysyllabic words that Boob didn't understand.

I am shocked that with his past he was hired as a security guard.  That is shameful.

As far as they're concerned, he's repented and been forgiven of his sin, much like how the Duggars handled Smuggar diddling his sisters. Same rules apply. These people truly believe he won't offend again. But Tim Robertson wasn't diddling little girls; he raped his passed out roommate. BIG difference here.

If something DOES happen at Clown College between himself and a student, Clown has no one but themselves to blame. Who knows what kind of rehab (if any) Robertson went through? He confessed to his crime to avoid being convicted of it by a jury of his peers. I never heard that he spent any time in jail, but he must have. He was on the state's sexual offender list until pardoned last year for crying out loud! If I were a parent of a child who attended a school with a known sexual offender, I'd be calling for that guy to be fired. But this is Clown, and the parents most assuredly think like the people who hired Robertson: he sinned, but now he's redeemed, blah blah blah.

I fear for Tabby.

That was too cute.

Poor Duggar kids, it's bad enough they ended up in a Gothard cult family, but they ended up in one where the parents have no sense of humor, no sense of perspective, and compensate for their own insecurities by ratcheting up the control fact beyond what even Gothard expected.

The Bates parents may buy into the same vile beliefs, but at least they loved their kids enough to let them be individuals and to become adults.

Omg, that is too much cuteness. I'm happy to see Erin was laughing, just like Jessa laughed when Spurge was dancing to the Charlie Brown song over Christmas. Hopefully the younger generation of brainwashed Kool-aid drinkers realizes babies aren't condemned to hell for moving to a beat.

Read the article earlier and I'm not sure if I got her name correct. Her granddaughter just won an award against the grandparents estate for not reporting a sexual assault against her granddaughter by a church employee.

You have the name correct. The grandaughter (Carra) was awarded $2 million in damages.

Here's the pictureJennifer Hartono has a picture on her IG with Jana and two of the Duggar boys at what seems like an amusement park. 2 days earlier she had a picture tagged to the south of Brazil. It's a bunch of young people with their back to the camera so can't tell if the Dugs were in (or still are) Brazil.  She's leaning right in to one of he boys, maybe Jana and the other one are chaperoning?

trying to insert the picture but not sure if working.
