Hmm, Fleiss & Co. must have been happy with how she came across on the Women Tell All episode.

Hopefully she'll be fun. I just hope we won't be treated to more attempts by rhythmically challenged bachelors at rapping and dancing.

I guess I'd rather see bad rap and dance than a male stripper routine.

Oh, yes, the stripping, plus the singing, rapping, and dancing. What humiliations will await the next group of bachelors? On-air prostate exams maybe?

From RS "I can confirm that Kaitlyn is definitely the next Bachelorette, and I expect the announcement to come on the ATFR March 9th."

Good for her! That'll definitely be a career boost considering how well Jillian is doing in Canada after her stint on the Bachelor/Bachelorette. I would love it if they film part of her home visit in my store in Vancouver! :P

I'm really curious now what the guys will be like on her season...whether they auditioned for her, totally blind, or thinking it was for Britt...hmm

Do guys really care who the bachelorette is?  I mean besides that ass, Bentley.  Most seem to me to just want the free booze and free travel on ABC's dime.     I think even the latest two marriages that came out of the bachelorette, Des/Chris and Ashley/JP were just blind luck and had nothing to do with the guy coming on the show to meet a certain girl.

And I want a camera on Britt when she gets the official word that its Kaitlyn not her as the next Bachelorette.  Or when she sees Whitney sitting in the audience, clapping away for Chris on DWTS.   Oh well, off to Mexico and Bachelor in Paradise for her.

The taping starts a few days after the finale so I doubt they know.  Things didn't used to move quite as fast as recent seasons.

Called it... Of course I'm cautiously gloating because RS has screwed up before, especially on who will be the next Bachelor or Bachelorette. That said, Kaitlyn really seemed like the best option to me. I just couldn't see Britt being the pick with that edit she was given. It just didn't make sense.

And I may be in the minority, but I actually think Kaitlyn will be a great Bachelorette. Girl looks fun as hell, she may not be the most gorgeous (but neither was Andi, Trista, Emily, Deanna - I could go on) but she is beautiful and has a certain sex appeal. I'm looking forward to her season and if nothing else, she can't possibly be as boring as Chris.

Oh, I'm kind of disappointed that it isn't Britt, just because I like it better when the guys are in awe of the B-ette. But hopefully the producers won't do to Kaitlyn what they did to Ashley (they got lucky with J.P. or that really would have been the worst, most misogynistic season ever).

Meanwhile, I'm trying to learn from Chris' example every week and not feel much emotion about anything related to this show. He sets the bar high!

You are not in the minority wanting Kaitlyn at all!  The majority of polls and feedback everywhere favors Kaitlyn.

It has been a very long time that the lead excited me so I am looking forward to this.  I adore this woman.

I'll reserve judgment on how Kaitlyn would do as a Bachelorette.  Maybe it was all of the sideshow drama, but Kaitlyn just didn't make that much of an impression on me.

I do think that Kaitlyn will be a disappointment to the guys who are cast.  To paraphrase "This is 40", Kaitlyn isn't "ugly for this earth, but for this show."

OMG, that would be hilarious! "To see if you're truly here for the right reasons, we're going to test your sperm count." And replace all the porn in the Man Room with a picture of Kaitlyn taking off her bikini bottoms.

I guess maybe because I'm not a guy so I view women's looks differently because I'm just not seeing what about Kaitlyn would be such a disappointment to the guys versus some of the women they've had in the past. Andi had that grumpy cat face that was such a facet, they made a joke about it at the AFTR, I remember some very not so nice jokes about Jillian on The Soup, Emily was just all fried blonde hair and horrible veneers to me, Deanna had a harsh quality about her looks, Trista looked old to me even back then which is why I was not surprised when I realized she's actually older than Ryan, Desiree was beautiful but more in a cute, girl next door sort of way, etc. So I guess I just can't remember these knockout beauties they've had that Kaitlyn would not be similar to.

Aww, Bugs, maybe your gal Britt will make an appearance on an episode, helping to pick dates or something.

Does Kaitlyn even like Britt? The two times Britt complained to Chris it was about him giving Kaitlyn a rose.

I'm cool with it being Kaitlyn though (IMO) she's probably be the least attractive they've had in that position. I just hope she has better chemistry with her guys than she did with Chris. She needs someone that has a lot of personality that she can banter with. Chris had none. I don't believe she was in love unless she just has terrible taste in men.

Link to comment

I think women often "read" differently to men than to women. Were I a guy on this show, the women I would have chosen would have been Jillian, Ashley, Trista, maybe Meredith, because they had "good looks" but also seemed intelligent and had fun lively personalities that made them more attractive. That's the kind of man I find attractive, so I guess it's not surprising that it would seem the same for a woman. Personality and intelligence and communication skills (humor helps) goes a long, long way to make someone "attractive".

We know the guys were pretty sold on Andi, who I thought was a good b-ette for the show, but seemed bitchy and unappealing imo if one were "competing for her". Most of the men didn't think Ashley was so "hot", but Emily "read" as "trophy gf" to them, while I (and probably more women than men) would agree with the post above about overly processed hair, veneers and a general lack of personality.

With that in mind, I think Kaitlyn would be a b-ette that women would find relatable, and I'm not surprised a lot of heterosexual women think she's attractive. But I just think men will see her like they did Ashley--cute and peppy, not drop-dead gorgeous--and be disappointed. (And, yes, I didn't see Trista and Emily as drop dead gorgeous but apparently "good figure and features + long blonde hair + lots of confidence" is the key for most. Maybe if they bleach Kaitlyn's hair (and get rid of the nose ring) she'll have a chance.

And, hopefully, they'll cast men who might really be interested--and no reprise of Bentley. That was just awful.

That's the point! Britt would have been the first true über-foxy beauty of a Bachelorette. (Like you, I'm not counting Emily. Too much work done.) So Kaitlyn is similar to that group. Attractive, but not the standout beauties of their seasons.

And the man with the highest sperm count goes on a 2-on-1 with the guy who has the best motility. Who will win the rose? Stay tuned for the most dramatic blah, blah, blah, Chris Harrison spiel.

I agree with your assessment of all those women. Plus I think Trista just always looked weird. I still don't know why she was so attractive to men, except for the fact that she was the smiley cheerleader. I really can't think of one Bachelorette who I would consider classically beautiful. Emily may have come the closest, but her veneers were ridiculous and she looked a bit plastic. I think Kaitlyn is one of the prettiest for sure! That combined with her sense of humour and down-to-earth vibe sounds like a killer combination to me.

I'm with Bugs & Padma in preferring to have seen Britt as lead.  I want jaw-droppingly handsome guys that are desperate to bang a beauty like Britt.  I don't want a gaggle of average, beer-bros who just want to shoot pool and tequila shots with their ole' buddy Kaitlyn.

Though I'll bet for the producers, she'll be as easy to manage as a pack of feral cats.

Well, it was nice knowing y'all.

Nooooooo! Bugs, say it ain't so!

I was all for Britt to be next b-ette because I'm sick of Fleiss making women with no boob implants, painted-on faces, slicer fingernails and botoxed faces feel less than worthy. But whatever. Maybe she'll have a Truth or Dare and make the men drop trow, or make them walk down an LA freeway wearing Speedos. So there's that to (maybe, but probably not) look forward to.

Yay! If it is indeed Kaitlyn, I'm really happy.  She's funny, she can hold a conversation, seems down to earth, and in my opinion is super cute without needing tons of make-up or a blowout.

I don't think Kaitlyn would be another Ashley -- Ashley had self esteem issues from the beginning, and they were evident even when she was a contestant.  I don't think Kaitlyn is as easily intimidated.  I certainly never got the sense that she has/had any kind of inferiority complex when it comes to any of the other women.

Carly would have been another Ashley. Kaitlyn is way too comfortable with herself to fall into that. her issue isn't being afraid men won't like her, it's getting her walls to come down. I think guys would totally go for Kaitlyn. There might be two seconds of "damn, I wanted to fuck Britt" but I don't think the guys will be devastated to have a cute, sexy, fun girl instead. Someone they can pound and then go drinking with afterwards. I'm not interested in watching a bunch of guys drool over the human blow up doll so I'd be happy to see Kaitlyn have a go. Not sure she'd find love, but I bet a good time will be had by all.

I honestly don't think Britt could handle being that many different people in such a short span of time. Having to mold yourself to fit 25 or so different guys would wear her out in no time. Then we'd get more and more scene's of her weeping badly on the steps. (I like Britt, she was an early favorite, I just think she's one of those insecure women who changes herself to please men and I don't really need to watch that all season...again)

Kaitlyn was very attractive at the last RC when her hair was pulled back.  She looked the best of the three, which I know isn't saying much this year.  As long as they don't have her with her hair hanging straight down, she is lovely.

I'm super lurker, but I had to sign up to say how shocked I am that guys here say Kaitlyn is not attractive. I watch the show with some couples and ALL the guys like Kaitlyn the most! They think she is hot, fun, and witty. All of us girls think Britt is by far the best looking so here I am thinking Kait's look must be a guy thing. One even said she reminds him of Megan Fox! (I think he's just drunk)

I also have seen many (attractive) guys on twitter (including former contestants) praising Kait so I don't think it will be a problem finding guys who are hot for her. For the record I think Britt is the most beautiful woman to have ever come on this show, and would've loved another season of staring at her amazing hair, but I think Kait will put on a fun season.

Yay, I'm glad it's going to be Kaitlynn. She doesn't take herself too seriously and have self respect for herself (unlike Britt who molds herself to whatever guys want her to be. I felt so embarrassed for her when she was practically begging Chris to ask her to stay). And honestly, I can't tell how Britt really looks like because she always has bullet-proof make up on with hair nicely blown. At least we've seen Kaitlynn with her messy hair and minimal make up and she's still cute.

This I agree with. As much as I liked her during the season and she had some snarky lines and she was definitely fun (loved how she just went with the flow with the Kimmel date), I honestly don't really remember ever seeing any real vulnerability from Kaitlyn. Except that one time I guess when Chris ended up giving her the rose which made Britt lose her damn mind. But even then, I felt like she wasn't so much begging Chris for her to stay, but honestly acknowledging that they really hadn't moved forward much, as opposed to him and some of the women and that concerned her.

And look at her exit that so many loved because she kept her head up and didn't fall apart, which I also agree was awesome because Chris is a tool, but she was hardly emotional about the whole thing. So I do wonder about that with her as the lead. However, her attitude in this season may have simply been her not feeling it with Chris and really, can you blame her? It's very possible she may fall for one or two of the guys and we'll see a much different side of her.

From Wet Paint regarding the Women Tell All time between Chris S and Kaitlyn:

Well, by the sounds of things, Chris didn’t really have a good reason for his choice — in fact, the Bachelor reportedly just flipped a coin! According to In Touch Weekly, the always-revealing Women Tell All taping (which airs March 2) saw Kaitlyn confront her former beau about why she was sent home after their steamy overnight date.

“Chris said, ‘I flipped a coin!’ He had no other explanation,” a source reveals to the magazine, adding that the audience audibly gasped. “Kaitlyn wasn’t comforted by the fact that her fate was left to a 50-50 coin toss.” Who would be!? He couldn’t even make a pro/con list?

That probably will do well to set her up as sympathetic for being the Bachelorette.

To me, the coin toss scenario confirms that no one was going to bump Whitney out of the F1 spot. He couldn't decide who would be F2 -- she was just going to be a placeholder for the sake of the show and its need for a tense storyline. (I do not buy the promos for the final episode, that it was such a agonizing decision between Whitney and Becca -- that's all the reality TV world fakety-ness.)

(I sort of don't believe the coin toss story either.)

The tiny part of my heart that cares about Chris and Whitney's relationship leads me to hope -- as I quixotically do every season -- that Whitney totally understands that producers and editors crafted a drama to drive viewership, and that Chris' anxiety over who to choose was a forced fiction, and she doesn't hold it against him.

The larger part of my heart doesn't give a crap if these famewhores end up staying together or not.

I thought Desiree and Ashley were average-looking and both found husbands on the show, so never say never. The question I have is about Kaitlyn living in Vancouver. How is that going to work in terms of visa restrictions? I don't see the guy she picks moving to Canada and having no problem finding work, etc.

I guess we'll know in a few days.  But my suspicion is that he said "it was toss-up" or "it was a coin-toss" between Kaitlyn and Becca, meaning that he was "equally torn" between the two.

If this season has shown us anything, it's that Chris does not have a way with words.

highly doubt that he said that he literally "flipped a coin", although if he did, I think Juan Pablo deserves an apology from someone.

I also agree that, assuming Kaitlyn will in fact be the next Bachelorette, this is all a part of embellishing her (thus far, imo) rather bland storyline so that next season Harrison can remind us "how America's heart broke when Chris sent Kaitlyn home . . . . "

Oh, the coin-toss thing could just be metaphorically speaking. It pretty much means nothing to me, except to create DRAH-MAH at WTA.*

Whoa! The new B-ette hasn't even been announced yet and already you have her engaged and almost married? Slow down! Plus, you know a wedding (almost) never happens. Canada was okay taking all the U.S. draft dodgers. I think they'd take in the B-ette F1. As long as he doesn't have Chris's DUIs.

Do guys really care who the bachelorette is?

Can't speak for the guys who appear on the show, but who the bachelorette is definitely effects me as a viewer.

If it is someone annoying, like Andi or Ashley H., or uninteresting, like Des or Deanna, then yeah, it definitely means I'll be watching less. If it is someone I find interesting and attractive (ok, mostly attractive) like Jen, Ali, Emily and Trista, then the show has my undivided attention.

Right now I would say Kaitlyn falls in the middle. Not having my interest now, but possibly getting it later. Right now she is, to me, most like Jillian. I found Jillian a tad annoying on her season of the Bachelor, as I kind of find Kaitlyn right now, but Jillian impressed me during her reign as Bachelorette. Not counting her horrific taste in men of course. But I chalk that up to playing the hand your dealt.

Kaitlyn started off as trying too hard to be the fun, cool girl who was at ease making raunchy jokes and just being one of the guys. But over the course of the season she kind of toned that down a bit, and she has landed on a point where I am at least willing to give her a chance as Bachelorette.

It is still possible she could revert to being the foul mouthed little bruiser she was in the first episode, but she has earned her day in court.

Looks wise, Kaitlyn doesn't break the stranglehold on the top spots that the aforementioned bachelorettes maintain, but I would rank her near the top of the rest of the bunch, again kind of tied with Jillian.

Honestly, the only bachelorette I have ever found unattractive is hatchet face Andi. As annoying as Ashley Hebert was, she was in fact rather cute.

And just to put it out there, I vehemently disagree with the general consensus here regarding Emily's looks. Purely on looks alone, she was, and still is, the most beautiful Bachelorette. Maybe Emily has had a lot of work done, but I don't give a shit because she clearly went to someone who does good work, because she is fucking gorgeous.

That's all I have to say about that.

I like Kaitlyn a lot too. It will be fun to have a bachelorette with some personality and a sense of humor. I'm picturing her season being a lot like Jillian's. Even though Jillian wasn't the prettiest girl ever, and there were a couple of guys who were initially disappointed with her looks, she ended up having the guys eating out of her hand. I just hope TPTB cast some good guys for Kaitlyn to choose from.

Just being handsome/pretty does NOT make you a good TB or TBette

But it does make the contestants much more interested in winning, which does matter.

And it also makes viewers tune in. People don't want to watch pug-ugly people who look like Everyman in Walmart. If they did, the regular network shows and magazine ads would be full of "pregnant" bald guys and ultra-muffin-top women. And those airbrush artists (now Photoshop specialists) would go out of business. Who watches the Victoria Secret runway angels and wishes they were size 20 and 250 lbs.?

Well, okay, so a couple of you do ...

Link to comment

I think that's an assumption though. Yes, Britt is hot but people are attracted to different things.... The idea that Britt being the Bachelorette would have guaranteed this rush of guys madly desiring and wanting her is huge speculation in my opinion seemingly based on one's own personal attraction towards Britt.

I don't want to get modded again, but I was trying to leave myself out of it. The guys have already been cast. Of those 25+ guys, I think the majority--not every single one--would have preferred Britt. Especially when just about all of the variables (hair color, bust size, tall vs. short, skinny vs. curvy, etc) are out the window. Both Britt and Kaitlyn are slim, modestly chested brunettes of average height (5'5" and 5'4").

I meant legal restrictions on a U.S. citizen trying to find work in Canada, especially if not married to a Canadian. My understanding is that it's really tough. I can see why someone would want to live there, absolutely...and I've been to Vancouver and it's a great city. My comments were about the red tape.

This is why I can't stand RS and his smug, douchiness. In relation to the pictures of Kaitlyn above clearly in Bachelorette mode,  I don't get his snark about her not knowing and yet there are these pictures. Obviously douchebag until the official announcement she's not allowed to talk about or admit she's the next Bachelorette. So of course she'll play coy or say she doesn't know. Like what is he thinking he's really proving with these pictures. Ugh...I can't stand that tool.

On another note, I actually think Kaitlyn looks gorgeous at the Women Tell All and I too understand what she was saying. Yeah I guess I get the "she should be over it by now and this is just an audition or whatever" but isn't the point of the Tell All shows, for the women and men to address the Bachelor and Bachelorette respectively and ask them things that bothered them or they wondered about?

And for Kaitlyn, maybe she really did feel that if Chris was so torn then he should have at least given her the same courtesy of a private one on one like he did Becca and if he wasn't and knew the whole time it was Becca, he shouldn't have dragged it on as long as he did with the whole pulling Becca away, acting all torn when he could have just handed out the roses and be done with it. And bless her for calling him out on that moronic "I could have flipped a coin." My goodness, Chris is really completely clueless isn't he?
