It's on in the other room, but I've stopped watching.  Hot topics was another confusing mess.  Even though they discussed it, I have no idea what transpired on the White House lawn.

Whoopi doesn't acknowledge anything about RO being gone from the panel today. Rude, in my opinion.

She did eventually, after she mentioned the people upstairs in her head.  She said Rosie O was sick and Rosie P was rehearsing and would be back next week.

I lost track of time & didn't turn on the show until +10 minutes in.  In the low chair, with her elbows on the table & swollen face, Whoopi looked like a big toad.  LOL.  I laughed when she tried to go to commercial two minutes into the Ne-Yo interview & then pulled the earpiece like it was someone else's fault.  That woman has big ones!!!

You've got to wonder - what is it going to take to get rid of Whoopi? She can't take direction. She can't read the teleprompter. She can't lead the discussion. She can't transition smoothly. She rants and hoots inappropriately.

I think I remember her saying that she was very grateful to Babs for the gig because she really needed it. I assume that Babs no longer has the big influence she used to. So who's calling the shots now?

Good question.  This year the show switched from ABC Daytime Entertainment to ABC News but that's all I know.   Oh, and Whoopi reportedly has a $5 million contract that they would have to still pay out if they gave her the well-deserved ax, something I think she welcome: getting paid without having to show up.

Time to write ABC again. I wonder if they will notice that I have been complaining about Whoopi every day she is on lately. I get an automated response. Who know if that's where it ends. I'm thinking of sending a registered letter requiring signature (knowing that a lackey would sign for it)

Have to agree that this was the worst show ever. The moderator who shouts every topic? Countries who can't read going to give books? WTH!!

I can't even finish watching using my usual FF.

I just have to repeat that any other job situation a HR person would  darken your door and would be walking you out or giving you info on rehabs.

Just read above comments and then started watching the show. I didn't think Whoopi was quite as bad as ya'll described. Whoopi came out dancing so her back must be better and the meds are working. Those meds do make her talk louder don't they? The earpiece did seem to throw her at the start of the show...I would be annoyed to have voices in my ear when I am trying to talk but if it is part of her job, she needs to get used to it. She did acknowledge the two Rosie's absences at the start of the show. I liked her comment about shooting a TV show during the last big blizzard and being able to sled down a deserted 5th Avenue. Tracy's comment after the disjointed, ridiculous Palin speech (she gets paid for this crap - unbelievable) that her takeaway from all of Palins babbling was "do Pilates" was funny!

To borrow from the Grinch:  "Stink, Stank, Stunk"!

I don't think there was a coherent thought on the entire show today.

Nicholle said the most stupid things during the shopping segment - "for kids?" on the pillows, and "what do you need 11 brushes for ?" regarding cosmetic brushes.

I think they all took stupid pills today!

Wow - in the past few days we've had Rosie O without Whoopi, now we get Whoopi without Rosie.  And the difference stands out.  Rosie doesn't talk about stuff that she doesn't know anything about. Rosie is nice, easy to relate to, seems to want to be there.   Whoopi has an opinion on everything, shouts her opinion over everyone else, and is just cranky.  I don't think she wants to be there.

I didn't like the cavalier way she dismissed the controversy over the "biggest Loser" show.   The contestants are saying that, yes, they are given medical advice, but then the trainers tell them to ignore it.   A contestant left with multiple stress fractures in her foot, another recent "winner"  lost too much weight by the end of the show.    The contestant who came out with statements about the show recently said that the emotional abuse breaks people's spirits, makes them feel ashamed - but this is all behind the scenes.  On the show, the trainers are positive.   a trainer left the show over the controversy about the woman who lost too much weight - she was advocating for changes in the show.

Whoopi has obviously never watched the show, and her "they get what they deserve"  attitude was more than I can take.   Why not express some empathy, some realization that perhaps the positive way the show portrays losing half your body weight in a short time, might have another side?

OR - if you don't want to take the story seriously, why bother to mention it at all?   I wish they would take a "Hot Topic"  and actually DISCUSS it, instead of Whoopi pronouncing her opinion as "Here's how it is".

The comments on this forum about an HR person waiting to escort you out of the building if showing up for work in Whoopie's condition reminded me of an intern I had one summer. The most polite, straight arrow kid accompanied me to our yearly health fair. Because he was so polite, he took every pamphlet he was offered. Shortly after we returned to my office, an HR officer arrived in my office and asked if the kid wanted to attend counseling sessions that are offered to employees. The kid was baffled until the HR person explained that she had seen him take pamphlets on drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, STDs and suicidal thoughts and she wanted to get him the help he obviously needed. Poor kid was so embarrassed I'm sure he's never attended another health fair. On topic - I thought the cohost who wasn't Stacey London was pretty good.

I wonder if the show will even be live tomorrow.

Perhaps they will get Barbara to come in tomorrow and thank the audience for making it through the storm. And then of course she'll tell them, "______________" fill in the blank, LOL!

The low chair gave her the appearance of Jabba the Hutt.  Not a good look.  I know some people with bad backs.  They can usually sit in a regular chair for a short period.  She could stand up and realign her spine during commercial breaks.  It's one hour a day.

Quite a contrast from Rosie moderating last week to this week with Whoopie.  I was glad that Rosie was not there for the American Sniper conversation.  I know that Rosie has a little bit of a different take on it as do I.  She has recommended a documentary on her page called The Kill Team.  It is very good and shows both sides.  The comments they make about the military are just rhetoric.  They don't really know anyone connected to the military.

I missed RO today. I watched the one hour show in 20 minutes (recorded it). Whoopi acted like an old timey comedian, using her husky southern voice and grinning, grinning, grinning. Just stop it. Stupid show. Whoopi needs to GO, ASAP.

At times I thought she was channeling Bill Cosby with that liltey way of speaking.

Whoopie was moving around far too well (especially during the intro) for someone with a serious back problem.  WTH???

Pain medication. I broke my shoulder and was in serious pain in the ER and ride to Walgreens.  20 minutes later I could have juggled anvils!  They take the pain away, totally.  Predizone can make you manic, it did that to me.  So we are seeing a manic woman high on oxy!

I turned the show off when Neo came out; that was enough.

Any emails ABC gets about Whoopie will just be dismissed because of the drugs.  I have had issues with her for several years now, having nothing whatsoever to do with the last few days.

I did too!

Medicine Crow, I, too, thought she sounded like Cosby. I actually mentioned it her first or second day back. I'm glad other folks think so, too. I thought maybe no one noticed. If her meds are making her act worse than usual, she needs to stay home until she's off them. If she's taking oxy, that's really bad. I had a severe back issue a few years ago. It's no fun, and mine took a long time to heal. I still have some problems, but nothing like when it was acute. I promise you, I would never have been able to get up and down and dance around like the Whoopster...pain pills or no.

Well this sucks. Whoopi's here and no RO. And Whoopi's just as incoherent as ever.

Aaaand channel turned.

This makes me wonder if they're trying to see how Whoopi and Rosie O do when the other is absent (maybe who'll be better to keep at the end of the season...?). Or maybe Rosie O just wants to wait until Rosie P is back before she takes on Whoopi again--that's what I would do.

I too have had major back pain, and while drugs help, you are still in pain.  Of course I wasn't on Oxy.  If she is on Oxy, I don't think they would put her on the air.

Maybe it is different in the US, but in Canada, if you have a major health issue, your employer has short-term disability, which means you can be off for up to three mos.  I have a feeling they must have that at Ah-Bey-Say.  Whoopi is back because she saw what a great show it was without her.  She's feeling threatened.

What a mess the show was today.   I lasted eight minutes, not even until the first commercial.  And yes, Whoopi looked like a big toad at the table in that low chair, especially next to those three glamour girls, and by glamour girls I mean women who took some time with their clothes, hair and makeup because they were on TV!

I was planning to record the show tomorrow as my love for the Backstreet Boys will never die but...they cancelled due to the storm.  Or Whoopi.

I wonder if the show will even be live tomorrow.

The show may be a repeat tomorrow.

I saw a promo commercial for The View "this week" and it was absolutely a rerun  - and I'm guessing at least the next two days will be that way.  Interesting how all the other ABC NEWS shows are able to carry on, lol.   Just as well - at this point I'd just as soon skip this show as watch it.

Why not have a snowy day show? Go out and talk to people in the street or Central Park. Have the hosts talk about their favorite snow day memories, their favorite snowy day foods or rituals. Regis and his co hosts did that kind of stuff, so do most of the morning news shows. They could even find a few hard core NYC celebs that they could just happen to run into on the street. Have a snowball fight, go sledding, snow shoe walks etc. A little snowy day bonding might go a long way?

From what I've heard, NYC will be on a mandatory travel ban for all but essential emergency personnel, and I don't think Mayor DiBlasio will look kindly upon The View's non-essential support staff (cameramen, etc.) out on the roads they're trying to clear.  If there's anyone who can be considered "non-essential", it's The View's panel.  Besides, if the NY stations are anything like RI/MA stations, it'll probably be non-stop storm programming tomorrow, which will pre-empt everything anyway.  It's already started here, with only 3-4" of snow on the ground.  These are the times I really appreciate cable programming...there's just so many times you can hear "Stay home" before it gets a little mind-numbing.

And did anyone notice how bald Whoopi is? I'm guessing pulling her hair all these years has done some damage. Anyone?

lookeyloo, it's been noticed often in the last couple of years but you are right it was extra noticeable today.  Whoopi hasn't had eyebrows forever, although I don't know if she shaved them or she never had them.

(Stealing from another forum...) Whoopi needs to stay home Thursday to watch Dr. Phil:

Thursday
From Top TV Newscaster to Drunken Mom
Christi says she was once a three-time Emmy-winning TV news reporter at the top of her career, but her struggle with alcohol addiction has now left her jobless, sleeping in bushes and estranged from her two adult daughters, Heather and Haleigh. Christi says her downward spiral began in 2010, when she became addicted to Oxycodone after a car accident. She says she hasn’t touched pills in years but admits she now drinks three or four nights a week, sometimes calling her daughters and leaving nasty voicemails.
