RB/Chanel is SO bad at crying scenes. Please don't make her do any more, show!

I know, and I hate it.  I really enjoy Raven Bowens but she's a terrible cry-er.

Jackee Harry was cracking me up as Paulina was trying to hint-hint to Chanel that she saw her and Allie having sexy times together.  JH is much better when there's.a comedic slant to her scenes.

LA has gotten so much better. She was really good getting teary eyed talking to JoDevil.

I like Lindsay Arnold more than the rest of you but I agree that those scenes with JDevil were some of her best.  It sucked that Carson Boatman couldn't really play the scenes as her brother.

It might be easier to care about Craig and Nancy's Awful Wig if I actually liked Chloe but I don't, so there's that.

For as stupid as the mask shenanigans can be, that was a fun twist on it.  For once I dIdn't have my CC on, so I didn't know it was actually Ava until the end.  And I swear that Linsey Godfrey did a great imitation of that smirky smile Ava Braun does with her lips.  It was so good I might go back and watch it again.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that I've enjoyed two days in a row.  Lately, I've been riding the FF button like it's my J-O-B.

I liked seeing Xander and Brady today.

Allie the cheating liar has no business attacking Johnny. Liked him calling her out on her high horse and calling out a hypocrite.  Devil Johnny was great

Abby is smart, she has it figured out. If only she could figure out she's living with the devil and her husband is lying and committed perjury.

Sarah would never talk to Abby that way, she was way too harsh. For them to fake Sarah they're doing bad job.

You can tell Ron enjoy the dynamics between Abigail and Gwen. And I have to admit Emily and Marci play off each other pretty well. She definitely brings the fire out in Abby. And the show is in desperate need of some female adversarial relationships. I literally cringed when  Marlena and Kristen started breaking bread together. I think Kayla has even become pretty tolerable of Ava. She has no problem with her hanging out at her Pop's pub. Maybe it's a good thing Vivian isn't around. By now we would probably see her and Kate exchanging recipes.

I have a feeling the perjury stuff is going to come back and bite Chad in the but.

"I'm a strong, independent woman." I thought that saying went out of vogue in the 2000s. Now, I wanna listen to Destiny's Child and watch the Drew Barrymore version of Charlie's Angels.

"No one in the Dimera family thinks of Jake Dimera." Neither do the viewers, Johnny.

Why is the show constantly reminding us of Little Johnny's time on the show. They don't constantly remind of of Little Allie's time on the show.

I wish this was Johnny's real personality. It feels energetic for the young 20s crowd, and they need someone who's callous and smarmy. The actor does it well, and I actually like the adversarial relationship between Johnny/Allie. I don't believe Sami would be good at creating a sense of sibling bonding between her kids, so it's not hard to believe they would be at odds.

I was rooting for Kristen to shoot Kayla. The actress looks good in red.

I never realized Nadia B. was so tall. She towered over Nancy, and she even looked about half an inch taller than Craig.

The way "Sarah" kept making fun of Abby's mental health reminded me of Dorian/Vicki fights on One Life to Live. I guffawed when "Sarah" said she left her prescription pad. I also laughed when Abby started attacking her.

Where did Phantom come into this?

(But yes, it's bad. It's just so bad right now.)

I didn't get that impression. She was vague.

Phantom alludes to this neverending masked characters (Kristen, Ava, Gwen) storyline. It's become boring and repetitive IMO.

I think the thing with Johnny is that he's suppprosed to be your typical spoiled shallow rich kid as Johnny. When he's the devil, he's supposed to be somewhat jaded and sophisticated like a modern-day Dorian Gray.  Carson Boatman is fine in the first part.  However, he lacks the acting skills to do the second.

Regarding Patch and Kayla, wouldn't a better way to figure out if someone is a Catholic nun or a member of the Catholic clergy is to ask them something that would be unique to the Catholic faith and not just have them spout random Bible verses?

I've been binging that last 2 week's worth episodes and I surprised myself in that I've only fastforwarded stupid Jake & Gabi scenes and some of the Rafe & Nicole scenes (I'm rooting for Ava?!). As campy and poorly written as the show is, most of the stories have been holding my attention - particularly the "where and who is Sarah" shenanigans. I even liked the Steve & Kristen scenes- and I usually hate all things Kristen (SH's version).

Yeah, Jake is a completely irrelevant character at this point.

I also agree that Johnny works better as the antagonist of the 20's crowd. They can't all be boring goody two-shoes, and Johnny continuing the tradition of being the DiMera bad guy is the way to go. And at least that way Allie's hatred towards her brother would make sense.

Oddly, I like Tripp and Paulina scenes. Their awkwardness provides some comedy. And it'd be a hoot if she somehow ended up mentoring him to grow a spine and also took up for him like a badass Auntie often can.

Allie can go jump off the pier. Tripp IS too good for her and I still find nothing redeemable or rootable about her. If the show is inclined to cast a spitfire of a Joy Wesley who can ruffle his feathers and make him happy I'd be down with it.

'Johnny didn't waste any time did he?' Uhhhhhhhhhhh, Chanel? Girl, you were humping Allie the same night you were dumped! YOU hit it a LOT sooner than he did. And Allie, I get you think your brother is a louse, but do you have ANY concerns about his off behavior? I just find it really sad that siblings who are twins and close growing up have drifted so far that instead of trying to see/work with/appeal to his better side, Allie's trashing her brother pretty much every chance she gets and only plays nice when scolded.  I mean on Y&R, Jack Abbott was a tomcatting cad that betrayed his father by sleeping with his stepmother but his sisters still didn't shit on him as much then as Allie does on Johnny. There is barely an undercurrent of kinship between them; I wish we could see the Johnny that was her ally as she mentioned today and learn more about where things went off track for them. I really don't believe once Johnny's possession is out that Allie will cut him slack for long; she'll just rationalize that Johnny was acting like he always would and was just an even bigger ass about it.

Chanel and Allie are some messy, girls who have no problem compartmentalizing their actions and judging everyone else. On one hand it's kind of real/hilarious and on the other it's annoying. Someone other than Johnny needs to call them out on their messiness.

Free Nicole. Free Ava. Rafe can be left with Duke's remains.

Ace Reporter Super Abby is fun. She ain't afraid to get her hands dirty and solve mysteries.

LOL, Chanel. Good luck with getting that divorce settlement. The Devil let you go live your life instead of Johnny suddenly becoming a widower. Keep pushing that button and see what happens.

Johnny sitting at the desk just sipping tea at the end was funny.

I haven't been watching the show lately as I've been in the office, so I appreciate the oft-hilarious recaps here. But I caught it today.

I am enjoying Ava and Gwen working together. Those two work much, much better when they are allowed to be their bad selves.

We're supposed to believe that Paulina is some uber-awesome badass business woman, but she goes Ross Geller when she thinks of Allie and Chanel?

Right! Let them be bad girls. It's a soap, for fuck's sake!

Oh no, they gave RB another crying scene. The second hand embarrassment was off the charts. Please stop!

I continue to love everything about JoDevil. He even makes Gabi/Jake semi-tolerable.

Ava is late for dinner and now Rafe & Nicole are having just deserts. Rafe really went for it. Get a room please. I guess Abigail will have mask wearing Ava to contend with now. I can’t believe Ava is going to let Abigail know any of this. I guess back in the wine cellar for Ab’s. She can’t catch a break and she doesn’t even have Jack to complain to. I think they should bring JJ back for her. She needs some of family around her.

Chanel is really going to judge Johnny for not wasting time? He kissed someone and the 2 cheaters are going to attack him for a kiss?

So Chanel who slept with Johnny's sister wants to fight for divorce settlement because Johnny kissed someone.  I can't wait for devil Johnny to deal with her.

Allie is right she doesn't deserve Tripp.

Gwen gets lower by the day, the crack on Abby's mental state after what she's done to her.

Jake thinks he can get rid of EJ and Victor? Jake the mechanic?

Go Abby, finally someone figured out masks.

I liked that Nicole actually owns a pair of jeans! Casual wear.

Yeah, Rafe, Ava left you alone so you two could go at it and she'd walk in. Dumb and dumb.

Tripp, you are far too good for Allie and probably half the women in Salem. Maybe transfer to a nice Texas or California hospital and meet a nice girl who will appreciate you.

Chanel, going after Johnny for a divorce settlement when you were married for a couple of weeks? He as the Devil is not going to let you get off and pay up. Granted, the Devil is more talk than anything and has plans but can't do anything. You might get a couple of thousand dollars. So he kissed another woman. You hooked up with your best friend a couple of hours after he dumped you. Surely Allie can see that her brother is acting strangely and is behaving worse than usual.

Hopefully Paulina can give Tripp some good advice about paying attention to the spine.

Gabi, you are playing with fire. You have no idea who Johnny is hiding.

Abigail didn't figure out that two people could wear the stupid mask. Smart of her to follow Sarah to the air strip, yank off the mask, and reveal that Sarah Horton is still missing and the mask wearer is Ava Vitali. The soup thickens.

I just get this feeling the airstrip scene between Abigail and “Sarah” is a dream of Gwen’s…but if not a dream and Abigail really did expose the plot, Ava will find some way of silencing Abigail, but that will just open a whole new can of worms because there’s no good reason for Abigail to simply disappear. Someone will investigate an Abigail disappearance.

And such a hypocritcal bastard.  He's got Ava living with him, they're sharing a bed and presumably having sex, and all the while he's suspecting her of setting him up.

How convenient that his suspicions don't get in the way of eating her meals and sleeping with her.  Then, he tongue dives into Nicole in the kitchen while waiting for Ava to come home and COOK FOR THEM.

Anything Ava does to him is less than he deserves.  Nicole, too, for that matter, if she's desperate enough to go after the Elmer Fudd of Salem.

For a minute or so yesterday, I thought Gwen was showing remorse for masquerading as Sarah to Maggie. But then, if I understood the dialogue right, it was not that she felt bad for tricking Maggie into thinking she was Sarah.  No, it was because Gwen was upset and jealous after seeing the relief and love Maggie had at seeing her daughter, which poor "woe is me" Gwen had never experienced in her own life.

It was like she was jealous of Maggie being happy to see her daughter "Sarah." She didn't care about hurting Maggie, or "kicking Xander in the teeth again." This is the same pattern she did with Abigail. She didn't care how much she hurt Jack. This was all about Gwen.  It's always about Gwen and her miserable childhood. And everyone else is to blame.

I think the reason they have Ava mixed up in this mess is because she's the one who's going to take the fall for Gwen. Just like Xander.

Gwen is the definition of a narcissist.

We'll see how it shakes out in today's episode, but yes, I do realize Abigail told Chad about the similarities between what happened to Kate and Sarah, and that includes the masking. But the last we saw was Chad saying he was going to attend to the kids then he & Abigail were going to have dinner together.  Then BOOM - Abigail is at the airstrip exposing "Sarah"!  Just seemed like it was a dream (nightmare?) of Gwen's...but we'll see.

So are the writers expecting us to feel sorry for Gwen and forgive her behavior?  She does horrible things but somehow, she should be excused because of her upbringing.

Ava does horrible things, (also had a pretty terrible upbringing) and genuinely seems to be interested in becoming a better person, but somehow deserves to have "good guy" Rafe cheating on her.

What exactly makes someone a person we should have sympathy for?

It's not like it's just Gwen. This is true of so many characters. And once I came to terms with the fact that Ben was just gonna stay a romantic lead I decided to stop giving a shit about it lol.

Another good ep for me. I especially loved the EJ/Belle scenes simply because I really like DF as EJ and not even just because he's hot.

Transitions have been crazy lately:

yesterday, Abigail is at home, then BOOM!  She's at the airfield

today, Ava is at the airfield, then BOOM! She's at home

Also, will be interesting if Abigail is "reunited" with Sarah at the DiMera island...

Something I don't get about how Gwen showed up out of nowhere: Gwen said she heard Ava & Abigail argue over the phone?  (I didn't care enough to rewind). HOW?!?!?!  Neither Ava nor Abigail were on the phone with anyone!

Yes, Ava was talking to Gwen when Abs appeared, and it didn't look like Ava ever ended the call so Gwen heard their whole conversation. Presumably Gwen wasn't far from the airfield, or she can move at lightning speed like the time Ava got from Statesville to Kayla's apartment to save Tripp's dick in the blink of an eye.

Agree the transitions (editing?) are terrible some days.

Gwen has a vehicle? How did she get from the Salem Inn to the airfield? Uber? There is no staff at the airfield? No air traffic controller, someone getting the plane ready?

Abs, you get the gold star of figuring out that the mask is shareable. Oooops. Gwen, good for you for finding a large, convenient rock. How also convenient that the pilot looking for a payday showed up just in time to whisk Mrs. DiMera away at probably a nice price and ransom. Xandy forgot all about him once he thought Sarah was actually there. Nice of Chad to fill him in on Abs' suspicions about the masks. Plus him confronting Gwen about the masks seeing as she has the most to gain if Sarah shows up and dumps Xander.

Does the courthouse not have cameras in the various rooms? No one can pull up footage of EJ and Abigail in the witness room? EJs only clue is that Johnny was there when he was signing the papers. He never left the courtroom. Ding ding ding - time for the Salem Brain to make an appearance. Wonder if the footage that may exist would show EJ or Johnny as JDevil. No one has figured out that the Devil is still around.

At least nothing happened with Nicole and Rafe. Except for him being arrested for being a dirty cop by Shawn. Yeah, Rafe, Ava is up to her old tricks. She wouldn't suspect anything with you and Nicole? And she misses dinner but finds some sort of dessert? I guess it's to establish an alibi when/if Abs is missing.

New EJ and Belle do have good chemistry.
