I thought today was a fun episode for the most part with some funny moments.

I'm digging where the Jack and Jennifer story has started to head.  There's some humor and drama.  Moments I enjoyed include:

  • Jennifer being able to just waltz into what is likely to be a secure lab, surprising Rolf into dropping the serum and Rolf's "It looks like Jack's memory is down the tubes yet again." Bonus points for the mad scientist "bubbling sound" in the background.
  • Jack and Eve's fight including Jack wondering how Eve walks so fast in her heels and this exchange:
    • Jack:  We found Doctor Rolf.
    • Eve:  What?  He's supposed to be dead.
    • Jack:  Weren't we all?
  • Jack and Eve make better enemies than lovers.  I liked how Eve threw the fact that Jack never turned her in for the other misdeeds he was bringing up implicates him as much as it implicates her.  I'm guessing the reason she lost is because it just so happened that the thing that he fired her over and broke up with her over was the one thing he didn't cover up.
  • I like that the reason Jennifer gave for Jack not seeing through Eve wasn't that he was manipulated but because he was stubborn.
  • Hug & aftermath

Yeah, so I liked them today.  I could also appreciate the "adult" conversations between Sarah and Nicole and Sarah and Eric; although I only really cared about the Sarah and Nicole convo.  Eric and Sarah have bored me for too long for me to care about their very nice breakup.

PT can be iffy but I did like Xander's reaction to Nicole.

It's been a long time, Dr. Shah. You seem different and way too hurt about Jennifer's not being your girlfriend. Way too bitter. Maybe it is her severe hairstyle and way too much black eyeliner. The space was YOUR lab space and Dr. Rolf was in your way. He's my suspect for destroying the lab, and Jack's setback in regaining his memory. How much of the chemical compound that does restore it exists?

Sarah, you will have to find the way tell Eric that you are preggers. And that the baby may be his. As adults, you can work something out. No guarantee that he will be with Nicole forever.

Nice save, Xander, by telling Maggie that Victor wanted you to kill Ben Weston.

Maybe the Kiriakis family or butler went to Costco and bought a bunch of juice boxes and there were some leftovers.

Eve looked good today. Move on from Jack, Eve. There is someone probably much better for you.

Kristen, no one wants you. Especially since you have been wearing the same dress and underwear for what seems like a month. The hotel and a hot shower will do wonders for you. And the Salem Inn has luxury bedding?

I’m pretty sure Brady still wants her. Everything she said to him was spot on.

Did anyone else roll their eyes when Jack bragged to Eve that Rolf was making a new formula?  It was so obvious what came next.

Doug and Julie should be the Tom and Alice.  No over the top histrionics, these people can act given decent material.  Let them help with capers and stick up for the downtrodden and not shame people for killing abusive rapists.  And the song should have been Bill singing "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World".

Please, Show, let Brady be up to something.  Please do NOT go there again with the two of them.  Just when he was starting to redeem himself (not letting Victor kill Ben, acting like an actual human being with Nicole) I just keep hoping they won't let him be THAT stupid AGAIN.

This, they could actually be tolerable if they were allowed to have some fun.  Julie's high horse histrionics and hypocrisy are never fun.

UO, but I actually like Xander's new personality. He's really sweet & charming around Sarah, and I'd like to see them together. I hope he grows into his new personality because IIMO one can only play a one-note character for so long before it gets stale/boring.

You'd think that Salem University Hospital would have instituted SOME sort of security by now. Most real life hospitals require you to have a staff badge or sign in as a visitor if you don't work there.

But at SUH, people just waltz in and trash "secure" laboratories willy nilly. And there are still CCTV cameras, right? That's how Eve was discovered to have taken the diary in the first place. So the perpetrator (almost certainly Eve) will be on camera yet again.

John’s “smell the fart” face at Kristen today was so intense even my nose hairs singed.

Let me get this straight. Eric can’t know he’s the father of Sarah’s baby because he loves Nicole and is going to build a family with Holly? Holly, who is not his biological child being raised by him would be disrupted by him knowing he has another one? And Holly being part of his life matters more than knowing he has a kid? Also, Sarah assumes this would disturb Nicole, who many times dated/married men with children by other ladies or simply stolen their children to keep a man, that she’d leave Eric? Or that Eric, who has obsessed over Nicole and praised her constantly would be automatically guilted into dumping her now or something? Also cute she screeched so much about Rex’s lying and trashy Mimi’s bullshit and yet here’s Sarah again doing fuckery. She’s a hypocrite. NOT as bad but still a hypocrite.

Imagine trying to build a family with an ex pornstar , notorious bed-hopper ,golddigger and someone who plotted to kill /hurt people.

Nicole being a heroine is utter nonsense .

Imagine such a damaged person raising a daughter.

Eric can do better.

I really loved all of the state-of-the-art equipment in the lab they provided for Dr Rolf.

The "romance" between Xander and Sarah would be more fun if he was falling in love with her against his own will, and he was himself confused by it, rather than having him almost desperate for her approval.

We know that Brady is prone to addiction, so I see his attraction to Kristin more like another drug of choice and not just simply an act of stupidity.

Who stole his twin sister's baby because she couldn't accept that Sami was having EJ's baby and she couldn't give him a baby of her own.

When she lost her second baby, she manipulated things to seem like her rival (Jennifer) for Daniel's affections caused her to lose that baby.

Sarah better beware. Because I don't believe that Nicole had changed that much.

I felt sorry for Brady yesterday.  Kristin is nuts and really his stalker.

He needs an intervention.

I thought he was happy with Teresa for a while.

Yep.  Brady is rolling around in the dirt right now.

I also liked how mature he, Nicole, and Eric were   I know it’s because they probably have a new plot to pursue but I’m ready to see the hatchet buried.

Sarah made her own mess but I feel for her   And I’ve completed boarded the SS Xarah.

I look forward to Kate waking up and busting Vivian.

But letting Kristen DiMera walk?   Nope.  She needs a 24 x 7 tail.

On today's episode, I realize that it's rather difficult to watch Sarah's woobie face when she talks to Eric.  LG is playing her scenes like she's confessing to being a mass murderer--yes her pregnancy is completely unplanned but she's an adult woman in her 30's, who is also a doctor, I think she can handle telling Eric without the over the top acting.

I did like seeing Dorian Vivian and Blair Eve sharing scenes again--the actresses work wonderfully together.  I forgot that Eve once worked for Stefan--I get confused at all of the company take overs and whose running what.

Eve has no real reason to stay in Salem and she's gotten to a point where she is too much.

Please pack your bags and leave Eve!

I just wish Jack had returned with Cassie Brady and his stepmom Anjelica Devereaux ,played by Judith Chapman .

Lets not forget that Cassie was Jack's cellmate for months after ANDRE  imprisoned them right after the Melaswen event.

I can imagine them both in their cell  killing time by trading life stories.  Cassie would tell Jack about how she and Rex grew up in captivity while lliving on Stefano's island while Jack tells Cassie about everything that happened in his life like finding out he is a Johnson and what he did to Kayla and so on .

Yeah ,Jack did end up reuniting with Jen but it is plausible that Cassie and Jack kept in touch until Jack died in 2012 .

Before Cassie left the show in 2005 , they did hint that she was attracted to Jack but Cassie was abruptly written out when Rex left Salem .

Carllivati could have easily revived this dropped storyline when he brought back Jack plus Alexis Thorpe ,who played Cassie ,did indicate to Carlivati that she is eager to reprise the role of Cassie.

Instead of returning to Salem with Eve ,it would have been Cassie . With Anjelica not far behind.

Anjelica would even go as far as supporting Jack and Cassie and encouraging Jack to rather go for Cassie than go back to Jen since Jack wouldnt have to constantly attempt to meet Jennifer's standards and expectations and Anjelica could pointout that Jen has always eager to move on from Jack by citing her relationships with  Peter Blake ,Colin Murphy and Daniel Jonas as examples .

Cassie would be the lady who would free Jack from Jen and Jack can be with someone who could accept the baggage that comes with Jack .

It would have created meaningful conflicts such as Kayla urging her niece Cassie to forget Jack and Anjelica and Adrienne could also be involved in the battle for Jack's soul with Adriene suppporting Jen while Anjelica backs Cassie ..

Heck ,even Kate could have found a new pal in Anjelica as they both support Cassie being with Jack .

I think this was such a missed opportunity.

Yet again more HIPAA violations.

"Does your name begin with a B?" Wink wink, nudge, nudge. And then a "Dorian" reference.

Jesus, Sarah, get to the point!

Stefan has an office?

Is Vivian wearing a motorcycle jacket?

Brady is such a slut.

Gee, Sarah, why don't you CALL Rex about his mother instead of texting?  Texting is kind of cold, isn't it?

Well it fits right in with the rest of the show(stale/boring). I could accept Xander evolving the problem is soaps no longer write interesting evolved characters. You could grow on a show and still be interesting because the writers would have characters still be edgy and interesting but learn along the way. They don't do that anymore good= no personality, edge or motivation... bad= total opposite.

I think Nicole limits Eric character wise then I realize beyond her there's not much to the character and that's unfortunate. Nicole could easily exist without him I don't think the same could be said for Eric despite being a legacy character.

I don't find Nicole anymore damaged than Sami, Gabi, Kate etc who are raising kids although they aren't portrayed as heroines(well Kate at least).

Yes, some Cassie love!!!! Jack has been a great partner in terms of platonic friendships with women; Isabella, Kate, Billie, Greta, Sami, Cassie, and Nicole.

I'm surprised Kristen isn't playing the "old friends card" in regard to Jack.

Edited to add: Also, writers, mayors don't make decisions about criminal prosecutions and immunity.

Also, even if we were to assume the Mayor had such powers, kidnapping and transporting people across state lines is a federal crime (as the many former feds/international spies must know). So Jack keeps his part of the bargain and they bring in the feds to haul Kristen's bottom-feeding behind out of Salem and off to jail.

I wondered when those wink-wink-nudge-nudge Vivian/Dorian and Eve/Blair scenes were going to show up.  There was no way Ron C was going to miss out on that opportunity.

Eric Martsolf actually sold me on his inner conflict over his attraction to Kristin and his realization that she's the worst thing for him.  I'm not a fan of another round of Kristin and Brady but I was impressed that they allowed Brady to have a brief moment of self understanding.

Brady has some functioning brain cells! Sure, he recognized he has an addiction to Kristen - addicts sometimes find new addictions to replace their former ones. She is not good for him but there is still unresolved stuff between them.

I didn't see Eve and Vivian on their other soap so the wink-wink nudge-nudge fell flat for me. Thank you to those who clarified this.

Eric can probably read War and Peace 50 times before Sarah will blurt out that she is preggers. It isn't that hard - just say that you discovered that you were preggers a day ago and that there is a possibility that it might be Eric's or perhaps Rex's. Both adults can have a nice mature conversation.

Eric and Nicole may be together for a bit, but they may decide that it is finally over and Sarah could perhaps end up with Eric. Xander should really be confused over why a guy like him would want a woman like Sarah.

Jennifer, Eve is not the only person who could have destroyed Dr. Rolf's lab. There is the possibility of your upset ex-whatever Dr. Shah, who claimed the space as his.

EM did a good job today, showing his inexplicable attraction to Kristen coupled with his revulsion at the same time.  I'm in the minority, I think, of never having bought into their relationship when the role was being played by Eileen Davidson - Kristen has just been so vile and so nuts for so long - but I sure believed today that Brady both felt the attraction and equally, felt awful about being attracted to such a monstrous person.  Show has been giving Brady some nuance these past few weeks, I hope that keeps up.

Long ago and far, far away, I remember liking Eric and Nicole but I don't have an iota of that feeling left.  I think I've overdosed on Nicole these past few months as her fake persona and now that the "real" one is back, and coupled with Sadly the Cross-eyed Bear, they're both like two damp, musty sponges stinking up the place.  Maybe, with time, I'll enjoy Nicole again but Eric is so dead to me that Vivian can bury him, dig him back up and bury him again on a weekly basis and I'll treat her to lunch each time.  He ruins everything.

Sarah, tongue-tied and weepy and stuttering and stammering as she tried to tell Eyeore that he scored a home run during one of their sexy times was embarrassing to watch.  She's an adult, a lot of the time, a character I like a lot of the time but she descends into pablum whenever she's around him.  And he's not worth it.  He's not just a wet blanket, he's a whole wet duvet set with dust ruffle and extra pillows.  Also, I wish somebody would just goose the hell out of him and make him stop all that damned whispering.  Eric was a lot livelier when he was a priest.

But what do I know, apparently he drives the women of Salem wild.  He simply drives me insane.

Jack and Jen were fun today.  It's really nice to see Show finally letting the two of them start to do what they do best.

And while I loved the hell out of Dorian and Blair today, I hope Show has gotten that out of it's system.

Tune in next week to see what makes Eric cry next.

My biggest problem with the Sarah Eric situation is that, like every other romance this show has tried to establish for the last few years, I have no idea what it's based on. Eric is attractive so that's why Sarah likes him? He has nice stubble? I never got the sense that these two connected on any level for any reason. It was like she felt sorry for him and he was hot. That's the basis of starting to date, but not crying and crying and crying that you guys can't be together. Is she in high school? Sure getting pregnant with his kid complicates things a little, but at this point I think if Sarah was a semi intelligent person, she would have written Eric off a while ago and just be matter-of-factly discussing the baby situation. Instead she's acting like she's losing the love of her life and I still don't see what on Earth they have in common.

The only way I can buy into Sarah is to believe that her self-esteem has been shattered and she's just clinging to anything at this point. She stayed with Rex even though he was a cheating piece of crap and then married him out of guilt or something. Now she's madly in love with Eric, but soon she'll be madly in love with Xander the kidnapper. Maybe she has bipolar disorder? Maybe she's manic depressive? She's definitely got some codependent stuff going on. I feel like there was a whole two or three chapters of her story before we met her this year that would explain why she's getting so invested in these threadbare relationships. Who hurt you Sarah? Why don't you love yourself?

Really, when I think about all the couples that have gotten back together or started what was supposed to be a serious love story I can't think of any that I actually believed. I didn't understand why Adrienne and Justin got back together, I don't understand what Eli sees in Lani, why Jack even pretended to be romantically interested in Eve when she was clearly using him, why Stefan was interested in Abigail, why Tripp liked Claire or Ciara, why JJ likes Haley and now Rex and Sarah and Sarah and Eric...and to some degree Xander and Sarah. It's like I'm supposed to believe them all as couples with chemistry "just because". The only real exception is the hate sex between Gabi and Stefan, but that should have ended at hate sex.

I'm trying not to feel burned out on Nicole as well, Boes, but Zucker is giving a noticeably different performance as the real Nicole. I sense the humanity here. She isn't bouncing off the walls. So I do feel like we're back with the real character, even though I don't think she really ever nailed defining two distinct personalities for the two Nicoles.

I forgot how much chemistry she had with Paul Telfer. I like that they took the time to wrap-up the completely inane, barely-seen subplot of Xander forcing her into marriage and having feelings for her. I figured they would have swept it under the rug and just ignored it. I'm glad they didn't.

More than anything, I'm glad that Nicole has an enemy. I think it's one of those things that the "good" characters need to have on a soap and at this point Xander and Nicole have plenty of history and reason to hate each other. I thought I would be irritated by this pregnancy storyline, but instead I see it as an opportunity for Nicole and Xander to be working together in a way. That's a neat twist.

I found the stuff with Rolfe and his one-liners a little too campy and corny, but I guess I appreciate there being an attempt at comedy.

I hate that more often than not these days I'm complimenting the show for trying to do something rather than succeeding at it.

Upon seeing the new Dr Shaw I feel like I remember him being a doctor who was involved with Stefano for some reason. Does anyone remember what he did the last time he was on the show?

Justin/Adrienne at least have past history to fall back on when they were a well written couple back in the day the others I agree the show does a terrible job of telling me why the other couples are in love... at this point its about containment for me. I don't like JJ/Haley as an item but honestly this is the best its going to get for him. They aren't on much and are rather harmless so I find them easier to take than the others.

I also think Stabi should have just stayed with hate sex or at least a MOC I think they have chemistry to be a long term thing if written well but again it won't be...

GOD YES THIS! I was even coming on here to ask if anyone knew how long PT's stint was going to be this time because I am so sick of his goddamn woobie face. I remember when I first started watching this show regularly again, I think I read somewhere that the actor voluntarily didn't sign a contract because of some personal reason. I don't know if that's changed or not, but I can't stand this character. He's either a disgusting thug or now he's so obsessed with Sarah that he's acting as her janitor and removing her vomit-filled garbage and I think we're supposed to find it sweet, but I just find it pathetic. I don't even get why he's suddenly so fixated on her. He slept with her and basically the next day he was talking about being in love with her and every time he's around her or someone calls him on his gross past he gets that woobie face and I just get stabby. It feels like just a piece of horrible acting - like it's the only expression the actor knows to convey sadness or fondness or regret.

And, because, I don't buy his feelings for Sarah, I don't buy this sudden desire of his to "be good" since his feelings for her is all this turnaround is based on. I also don't enjoy his sudden friendship with Maggie. I missed his early run, but were they slightly close before the night he "took care" of her when he was drunk? Because if she's only fond of him because of that it seems kind of lame.

I am glad that they didn't drag out the Nicole/Eric reunion anymore than it was, but every time they are together, all we see are those near tears scrunched up faces that make them look like they are miserable and in pain. A little of Nicole goes a long way for me and there has just been too much Nicole/Kristen. If I had been reunited with the love of my life, I believe there would be lots of smiling and being happy. I see none of that from them and it makes it hard to watch. Yes, Sarah is in love with Eric and is being all mopey, but get over it! Get on with your together lives.

The show needs to have Sarah on less. She's on too much and anytime a show does this with any character, especially a new character it only leads to resentment.  I now see Sarah and I just roll my eyes.   I don't care what she feels about anything.  I've had enough of her feelings.

Sarah isn't a new character she's been a part of this show for decades but this version of her is new. I do agree this show needs to learn not to be overkill when it comes to airtime etc and yet they never learn.

Fucking hell, Xander and Sarah are fast becoming embarrassing. On the plus side though those scenes today were a laugh riot lol. You'd think they were a couple of teenagers and not the 30-something year olds they are.

I still love Eve. Her lines are great and KDP is always so fantastic.

I fast forwarded most of the rest and what I did watch was boring.

Give it time. He just found out about Sarah's pregnancy. There's a lot to play out with the possibility of being a husband, father, and part-time thug 😜

With a less limited performer than Telfer, I'd be tempted to agree with you; but I fear that Grinning Musclebound Thug (With Optional Clothing Allergy) is right at the limits of his powers.

I legit LOL’d at Xander’s, “I’ve been reading a lot of self-help books.”  Would have been funnier if he said ‘Maggie leaves her Oprah magazine in the bathroom.”

His advice was stunningly sound and I liked that Sarah actually realized that.  I also liked him sorting out why she wouldn’t tell Eric.  He’s got it bad for her.

Seriously, I was glued to the Xarah today.

Vorian is high camp.  Kate can’t be killed by her, she isn’t worthy.

Eve’s hatred of Jennifer felt very real  -KDP did that well. But it’s so unhealthy.  She needs to move away from Jennifer for her own mental health.
