Of course they didn't ship them until Feb. We had to look at our sales figures YTD and then balance that against what we sold last V-day and on top of that, the day of the week that V-day was going to fall on affected sales. Prevailing Wind July 18, 2018 Share July 18, 2018 I read an article once bemoaning all the early Xmas stuff - and it mentioned a particular store where I shopped as having crap out in July already. I didn't see that as so egregious because it was a craft store. If you're gonna embroider a Xmas pillow or something, some people HAVE to start in July to get it done. THAT made sense to me. Since this about commercials, the ads for the "Christmas in July" shitfest on Hallmark bug me because a) um, no (see the whole "shitfest" thing), b) even if I wanted to watch Christmas-themed programming at some point in my life, no entire month would be the time, but certainly not July, c) this specific strain of the genre is particularly awful, and d) I live in a climate where it's 90-100 (and occasionally hotter) in July, and I vastly prefer summer to winter, so watching even non-crap set in "winter wonderland" wouldn't be appealing this time of year. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/15594-holiday-and-seasonal-commercials/page/24/#findComment-4506634

mojoween August 8, 2018 Share August 8, 2018 I fully admit that I'm being a crotchety old woman who hates technology, but the Office Depot ad where mom and kid do all their shopping from their tablets makes me sad. Not only because my only baby graduated high school in 2016, but also because I just loved school shopping. Both when I did it for myself with my mom as a young lass on the first day of school with the lists I got from each teacher, and taking him during August with the one list that was mailed home in the summer. Gam2 August 19, 2018 Share August 19, 2018 Mojoween, I agree with your thoughts. I know things have changed exponentially since I was a child (back in the 1950’s) and am so glad for this technology that makes everything so much easier. Just like I’m talking to you right now! However, I do also know that we’re losing the personal touch with our families, friends and neighbors. It’s to easy to just email or text our loved ones rather than pick up the phone to talk and hear their voices. I’ve also noticed that our young people are already losing their social skills. That, to me, is the worst part of this social media stuff. I don’t have the answer to this delimma but hope our children with our grandchildren can find a good balance. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/15594-holiday-and-seasonal-commercials/page/24/#findComment-4602156
