Morrigan2575 February 7 Share February 7 Ok, so pregnant teens mom is a bitch and she's also punishing her daughter because her mom forced her to carry an unwanted pregnancy 🙄 I knew Garcia wanted in Santos' pants but not anymore 🤪 I laughed when she dropped the scalpel and Garcia was right, Santos is cocky, not confident. This better not be a smackdown, it was total weak sauce. I enjoyed Javadi doing the hip resection (is that what it was called?)...captain Morgan pose, LOL. I also enjoyed Whitaker and Javadi having a little laugh over smug Santos screwing up...she's still too arrogant. Actually, LOL at Langdon's comment about the worm cemetery. I feel for the OD boy's parents, but I knew the mom would not be willing to let them harvest the organs. It's a very tricky situation even when people sign up to be dodonors. I worry that Collins will lose this pregnancy 😔 This was a slower paced episode we got some good moments between characters. I adore Georgia and wouldn't mind Dr Robby dancing me around either 😍 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574674
JeanJean February 7 Share February 7 (edited) Love this show. But it goes by SO fast. Thought the brain-dead boy's mom's reaction was a bit too much of a worn-out trope, though. I actually sometimes feel a fleeting (stress on fleeting) flash of pityfor Santos because she's such an a-hole. Making it harder on herself. Weird, huh? She went too far tonight, though. I too vote for the nickname "Stabby." Edited February 8 by JeanJean 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574704
Cotypubby February 7 Share February 7 This show goes by so fast! Even though nothing really dramatic happened all of a sudden it’s the end cut to black! When Collins was saying she would buy the stroller my first thought was “Don’t buy it so early! That’s tempting fate. Now somethings gonna happen to make her lose the baby!” And then at the end I thought she’d be pushed to the ground in the fight and miscarriage. Glad this show didn’t go that trope-y. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574773
CarpeFelis February 7 Share February 7 If there is a hell I have to believe there’s a very special place in it for a mother who’d force her underage daughter to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. Her daughter is going to hate her for this. And if punishment is what she has in mind—how does she know her daughter wasn’t date raped? She didn’t bother to ask, just started screaming at her. (Punishment is not the way in any case, but if it was rape, her daughter is really going to hate her.) 3 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574830
Kelda Feegle February 7 Share February 7 So Javadi was nicknamed Crash (?) by Santos, and Whittaker is Huckleberry, surely they get to call her Stab now? Or something similar. bybrandy February 7 Share February 7 We knew Garcia was into Santos but asking her sign in the middle of a trauma?!? I think they both got what they deserved. Watching Robby wheelchair dance with his patient was too cute. My prediction is not dramatic enough but I say daughter just took a moment when she moved the car to settle herself and fell asleep. Whittaker managed to keep a set of scrubs for an entire episode. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574900
fastiller February 7 Share February 7 So many thoughts I needed to number them. 1. I'm pretty sure Corporate "I've been to med school & business school" lady seriously mispronounced Dr. Robby's full surname. 2. I thought the lunch was from her and that was why Dr. Robby turned away from it. 3. Santos is still not a nice person. When she was with Javadi & Whittaker (after the scalpel incident) I wanted the both of them to tell her to go fuck off. @Kelda Feegle - I vote for Stabby. 4. Yep, Dr. Collins is tempting fate. 5. I sure do hope Kristie (pregnant teen, IDK if I've got that right) isn't in that restroom trying to self induce a miscarriage. 6. The Bradleys: oh my heart broke. While the Spencers' story from a couple eps back was also heartbreaking, their father's death was so much less a surprise. When my husband died -also suddenly- I wish the ER doc who told me had even a tad bit of the compassion Dr. Robby showed the Bradleys. Mr. fastiller didn't have an organ donor order on his license; I made the decision for him the morning after he'd died. If Nick wants his organs/tissue to help others, Mrs. Bradley really should abide by those wishes. I suspect (hope) Mr. B will persuade her. I'll likely have more as I digest the episode. 2 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574904

Completely agree. Garcia has been really unprofessional where Santos is concerned and frankly I was happy to see that scalpel end up in her foot. First Santos had trouble opening the vial and now she drops a scalpel. Is this going to be a running thing with her like Whittaker and the scrubs? I feel so bad for Ginger. I hope her daughter returns soon and not in an ambulance. I really like this show. I realized yesterday that I was looking forward to a new episode. I haven't felt that way about a show for a long time. At the same time part of me wishes I'd waited for the season to finish so I could binge it. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8574911

And here it's again the mom/woman having a hard time letting the person in their care's wishes be honored because of her feelings. I'm a little confused by them doing the blood panel on Garcia. jah1986 February 7 Share February 7 This episode felt a little slower paced and I'm glad because it was another really good hour. Yay, Whitaker got no bodily fluids on him this hour. Totally get Javadi shutting down with her mom, she's a nepo baby but doesn't want it shoved in her face. I knew mom was going to reject the organ donor appeal, just too soon and raw, maybe next hour. So if there is going to be something majorly horrible towards the end of the shift, like a shoot-out, I feel they're setting up Santos as a victim. Her unlikability is just way over the top for a 1st year intern. And I will also be surprised if Collins doesn't have a miscarriage, but it will be a pleasant surprise. But don't buy an expensive stroller before the first trimester is over. Looking forward to next week. I really wish they had dropped the entire show, but this is probably better. It's a similar plot, but it feels very different to me. That was an elderly person clearly struggling to hold on, and even when the daughter could not handle it, there was an underlying feeling that everyone did realize his death was imminent and she came around relatively quickly. Contrast that to an 18 year old who was in good health, and had this tragic reaction to Fentanyl laced Xanax. For a parent in that situation, the OD is the first horror and brain death is the second horror. Then for a person to come in and tell them they are there to discuss harvesting the kid's organs. It's way too much in such a short time period. Edited February 8 by txhorns79 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8575044
SeanBug February 7 Share February 7 If I was Whitaker or Javadi I would have gone to Robby and complained that she's threatening violence for a little teasing, when she dogs on people all the time. She is such an asshole. If the Hospital Administrator thinks people are going to give them better reviews, then do what Robby says and hire more staff. It's the waiting for hours in an ER that pisses people off, not the care they get once they're back in a room. And train nurses and drs to check on patients periodically, even if they're just waiting on something from the pharmacy and aren't in a critical situation. Personal note: I was in an ER for almost 5 hours (Monday night 11:30 - 5 am) waiting on a rabies vaccine. No one else was in the ER at all. Nurse brought me water in a cup with a hole in it, so I end up wiping water off the floor. I laid there for hours watching Modern Family reruns. The only time anyone came in was when they were going to administer a shot. ERs are the worse, and hospitals cutting staff and expecting glowing reviews have their collective heads up their asses. Collins is going to lose the baby. Pregnant teen is not going to be stopped by her mother. Doesn't Mom know you can order that stuff online? And Robby was right to call her out about redoing the ultrasound. Just give her the damn pills. It's Collins' fault this happened. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8575153

They'll test the patient then if the patient is clean they'll test again later to make sure they don''t have them but it's too early to detect. Then they'll probably test Garcia in two plus weeks again too just to be sure. (From the ex-wife of an infection disease doc in charge of such things who had to give out this advice frequently in the middle of the night. And also an old lab tech myself.) They may give preventative meds but they probably still need those baseline labs depending on the current protocol in that hospital. 1 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8575199

They may give preventative meds but they probably still need those baseline labs depending on the current protocol in that hospital. The re-test is usually a couple of months later. They also want to know if she already has immunity to blood borne infections like Hepatitis B. She probably does, most people get immunized as babies. If so, that's one infection that they do not have to worry about. If, for some reason, she is not immune and the patient is positive for Hepatitis B, she can receive immune globulin to prevent her from getting Hep B. It's not just HIV that can lead to serious consequences. Back before we had vaccines to prevent Hepatitis B, way too many medical professionals had their careers ruined by chronic Hep B they'd gotten from patients. I knew a general surgeon who developed chronic hepatitis B from a patient. He had to quit doing surgery so as not to infect any patients. It also lead to chronic liver disease which eventually killed him. The hospital also wants to be able to be certain that, if Garcia does develop an infection, it was from the scalpel and not something she already had for liability reasons. They don't want to pay for an infection she acquired elsewhere. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8575238
marceline February 7 Share February 7 I’ve realized that one of the reasons I like this show so much is because we really have no idea what to expect. We know there’s got to be a big crisis coming because this is television but we have no idea which of the cases we’re watching is going to be the one that pops off. Is Incel Kid going to do a mass shooting? There was a guy who was working a music festival and the speaker fell on him plus we know that Robby was supposed to attend a music festival with Jake WhoeverHeIs and gave up his pass for the kid’s girlfriend so that could be a crisis coming. I thought that the stolen ambulance could turn into something but it turned out to be no big deal. What if Rita the absent caregiver commits a mass shooting? (I’m kidding but it points to why I find this show fascinating.) 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8575269

Ooh, I missed that possible connection! Speaking of Jake WhoeverHeIs, near the end of his episode, he said something like “Mom wanted me to check on you” which made me think he’s Dr. Robby’s son, from a long ago marriage. But then someone here speculated he’s the son of the late mentor, which could also make sense. Either way would explain why so many folks in the ER seemed to treat him like “family.” Did anyone catch anything more definitive? And just to be clear, for me Dr. Adamson is just Peter Benton without the IP legal hassles. snarts February 8 Share February 8 Am I misremembering or was Collins rubbing her side & grimacing as if she were cramping early in the episide? Bobby came over & she quickly sat down before he noticed. Between that, the stroller & her answer to the twisted scroum patient's mom defo makes me think she's going to miscarry. That mother of the pregnant teen is such an asshole. Forcing your underage daughter to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term as punishment makes about as much sense as a former teen mom not emphasizing birth control & safe sex practices with said child. Santos' utter glee when hearing hemothorax/need for chest tube was almost sadistic. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151783-s01e06-1200-pm/#findComment-8575505

What if Garcia already has Hep C and doesn’t know? So if she does convert, you know it’s because of the incident and not a coincidence. Not to mention, it’s PEP post-exposure prophylaxis not PReP. Those meds are not harmless and you need to get a baseline on the metabolic panel to monitor while the doctor is on the meds. You also have to do a panel on the patient. This happened to a surgical resident I worked with when I was an intern only the scalpel wasn’t dropped on him. The patient grabbed the scalpel and stabbed him.
