Sorry, Gabe.  Looks like your "wounded birds" outlasted you!

It was a tense episode.  I thought that Genevieve was toast.  And so did she, apparently.  But Gabe was defeated by his own hubris instead!  Yes!

As Sue's face is shrinking from weight loss, her plastic lips are becoming more prominent in her face.  Therefore making her look like I don't know what.  An anorexic monkey?

Why is her face so dirty? Nobody else looks that dirty.  She also seems to have smudged black eyeliner. If she brought eyeliner as her personal item (they used to be allowed one personal item, but I don’t know of that is still true) why does it always look so messy…like she slept in it? It’s not a tattoo like her eyebrows. I imagine putting on makeup without a mirror might account for it. I bet she won’t be thrilled when she sees herself on tv.

I will confess Andy French kissing a soccer ball was not high on mu bucket list.

Amazing they were able to look even stupider for voting Sol out last week by Kyle winning yet AGAIN...they had their shot and let it walk through their fingers because they listened to....Geneiveve?

The bland girl who is so unremarkable I can't remember her name betraying Sue was not a boss move...it was just dumb. Voting out one of your closest allies and alienating the other.

All fake enthusiasm aside Jeff can't be happy about losing the shot in the dark since I'm sure he's always hoping it will do a dramatic save like last season or was it the season before? I don't know. It was a bad move him accepting it and for them offering it.

Still we got this gem:

Sierra: It's not worth it....as she sits there with a tummy full of a burger, coke and fries or whatever else they are serving up for the jury.

Sol...looking bad ass!

I didn't mind Gabe, he needed to go though. I always like it when Kyle wins immunity, and it pisses the others off.lol
Boy Genevieve was lucky, she looked so cold. and they were all pretty soaked. I enjoy a rainy TC.. except for seeing  Sue, I swear she has a stash of mascara,  or maybe it was just a dirty face. I just hated the closeups, on Sue and Andy and his ball.

I think she's got dark 'sun spots' all over her face from years of damage from lying in the sun or a tanning bed. Once the damage is done, exposure to the sun, especially without high SPF sunscreen, will bring them out and make them darker.  Hence, her face looks dirty.  She needs concealer and foundation to cover them up; along with SPF 50 or more and a wide brimmed hat.

"Loyal to the Soil" isn't that deep if you actually gave it any sort of thought since  it's literally the surface layer. That's all I have to add this week. Oh wait one more thing, Sol in his muscle vest and necklace looked straight out of a 1994 issue of International Male

I'm surprised Jeff was okay with the deal for rice was everyone's shot in the dark. A player only has a 1 in 6 chance of staying safe from the vote. That is not good odds anyway. Sacrificing that for a full bag of rice for the remaining players seems like a smart trade. The old era never had it, and I sometimes forget it's a part of the game still.

A Tuku had to go, even though Genevieve probably was the better option to get out.

For like 40 seasons there was no Shot in the Dark, Peach.  It’s not that exciting.

I find it hard to believe that Kyle called anyone Tweedledum and Tweedledumber or whateverthefuck Andy said.

Tweedledum and Tweedledee are classic characters from an English nursery rhyme and used in Lewis Carroll's 1871 book "Through the Looking-Glass."  Though I too prefer Tweedledumber for the latter.

But apparently Sue is not a big fan of Lewis Carroll given the "I hate Kyle" montage the editors had a blast with this episode.  It was the episode's highlight.  And really Sue, that is why you "hate" Kyle?  That was what sent you into a never ending rage against him, hahahaha.  (Yeah he voted for her once but I think the real reason she hates him is that she hates Lewis Carroll fans).

The editors are also having a good time adding all the "comic clown" music in the background to Andy's soliloquies too.  Love those segments.

Gabe was the logical choice because of numbers but I agree self-styled "I make big moves" corporate lawyer Geneiveve would have been a far more satisfying vote out.  Not that Gabe was exactly modest either.  Especially his ridiculous "I'll be back" comment as he left.

Meh episode. I'm thinking Probst went along with the deal for the players to give up SITD because he's as tired of trying to make them dance as we are watching him.

Yeah, the slow-motion bit was excessive. The challenge was designed nice, but Andy had to open his mouth and do that.

100%. The SITD is useless and needs to be eliminated from the game. If all but 1 was willing to throw it, it says a lot.

Andy is just like Rome in that sense, he makes up falsities except he does it with a smile on his face so they believe him. And they both aim them at poor Kyle who I like. Now if his argument was Kyle needs to go because he’s going to win all the ICs, I’d support that. But he seems to know his target and like he said, Sue is emotional and Kyle had the audacity to write her name on a vote 8 weeks ago just because he was blindsided.

I’ll add my 2c, Sue is the Picture of Dorian Gray.

I don't find it that tough to believe Kyle would insult Sue. I do disbelieve that he would make that particular insult/reference. Maybe it's me falling for stereotypes, but it doesn't seem like he's the sort of personality where he would reference Lewis Carroll.

Until/unless TPTB bring the receipts showing Kyle literally telling Andy that, I am going to operate under the assumption that Andy made it up to poison Sue and Caroline against Kyle. (Apologies if they have shown Kyle and Andy talking about Sue/Caroline in that way and I spaced out about it These extended episodes are hard to keep things straight.)

I dunno... Wanting to weaken the Tuku block makes sense. But if I were one of the castaways, I would be worried that Kyle is going to immunity-run his way to the FTC. (Of course, I would have tried to put his ass on the jury last week when he was vulnerable). Anyway, I might want to keep Gabe around because he seems to be one of the few people to have given Kyle a challenge. Sue is another. So maybe the vote should have been Caroline? Split up a strong duo, weaken Tuku, hopefully take out Kyle whenever someone else beats him, and if not, Gabe is still around.

I was going to ask the same thing. Why does her face always look filthy?  TPTB must hate her because she hardly gets any air time, unless it’s mocking her irrational hatred of Kyle, and when she is on screen she looks terrible.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he made that up to stir some shit. He’s come a long way from the guy having a panic attack on like day 2 to thinking he’s some mastermind. I can’t wait until it all comes back to bite him. (Unless of course he wins despite all his lies and setting people against each other, because why not?)

My memory is not necessarily the best, but I don't think Rome made anything up. He might have exaggerated things slightly, but the basic info (as I remember it) that he was spreading was accurate.

Gabe's exit reinforced for me the idea that many of these contestants are creating 'characters' thinking that they will be invited back for another season and/or grow their social media.  His confident 'I'll be back' just seemed sad.  Like he thought he was such a big player (especially with his 'wounded birds' comments and 'victory' dance last week) when he really wasn't.  His hubris is very similar to Rome as well as Andy (who really thinks he is a mastermind).  Speaking of Andy, I believe more and more that his 'break down' in the first episode was all an act to garner sympathy for the sad sack persona he was exhibiting at the time).

I am glad Kyle is able to last a bit longer, but I doubt he will make it to the end because now they really will vote him out the next time he loses.  And, Sue will finally achieve her vendetta against him.  I guess that vendetta is the only thing she really has going for herself at this point.

Shot in the Dark?  Pretty useless.  I think it's only been successful two times.  So, idols, advantages, and now the SITD are pretty much viewed as not that important by the players.

And, sympathies to Jeff on the passing of his mother (I think that's the Barb that was referenced at the end).  I sincerely hope he was able to see her before she died and that he wasn't tied up filming in Fiji.

I don't doubt that Kyle said they were like Tweedledee and Tweedledum, because it's not an insult.  I've heard it all my life, my bestie in school and I were sometimes called that. It just meant we were two of a kind and usually together.

Google: "The names have since become synonymous in western popular culture slang for any two people whose appearances and actions are identical."

I think Sue has a bad case of melasma, a hyperpigmentation of the skin caused by too much sun.  It may take something drastic like a chemical peel to get rid of it. I almost feel sorry for her.

To me the most painful was the talk with Genevieve and Teeny at the beginning.  Teeny wears her heart on her sleeve and Gen was trying to tell her, as nice for her as she could, that she didn't want to have any personal feelings for anyone as it would interfere with her game.

Both points of view are valid, but hard to watch.

I agree, Sue’s face is melting.

Calling Sue and Caroline Tweedledee and Tweedledum(er) sounds completely unlike Kyle, at least the way he’s been edited.

Sounds more to me like either Andy stirring the pot or perhaps something Gabe said behind their backs, since he’s been clear from day 1 that he’s just using them. (His wounded birds).

Sue is still deluded into thinking Gabe is her bestie but I’m glad Caroline was wiser.

I'm glad contestants finally realized the worthlessness of the SITD. A 1-in-6 chance at safety is shitty odds compared to actual  food in your belly.  I also found Probst's astonishment at the deal quite funny - he obviously thinks the SITD is some kind of gamechanger. It isn't. Well, I take that back - it changes the game for the worse - it makes players too cautious, second-guessing who might use it and who won't, and it really circumscribed game play. Hopefully, ignoring and dismissing the SITD becomes a Survivor trend.

Gabe was a good choice to go, but [Matthew Perry voice] could it BE any more obvious that they shoulda gotten Kyle out when they had the chance?

Teeny seems like such a nice person and they're gorgeous, to boot. I wish them the happiness they deserve!

Sue started out unattractive both inside and out, and she's only getting worse - both inside and out. "Hating" Kyle for playing the game is astonishingly ugly. And watching her face melt like a cheap wax candle as the days pass is not entertaining. Not for me, at least, I'm not a big horror movie fan.

Glad Gabe is gone.  He thought he was in control and his arrogant "you'll see me back" says everything there is that perfectly encapsulates him.

I think Gabe was Sue's #1, but Sue is Caroline's #1.  I would be interested to see how Sue reacts to Caroline next time... if I actually cared about either of them.

With each passing week, Sue looks more and more ridiculous.  I have to wonder what she is thinking watching herself on TV each week.  She probably thinks the show is using some kind of filter on the cameras to purposely make her look like that.  No Sue, that's just your bad plastic surgery.  The producers clearly don't like her.  The "I hate Kyle" montage was hilarious and showed her unwarranted obsession.  No doubt in the reunion show, Jeffy will ask her about it and she will say that it was in the context of the game and they love each other.  Whatever.

Andy was ridiculous as usual.  A legend in his own mind.

The "historic" (pfffffttttt) negotiation for rice.  Whatever.  Jeffy wanted four sitouts, someone asked for three.  He said no.  Then someone said "what if two people give up their Shot in the Dark".  I thought this meant they were offering "three sitouts and 2 SITD".  He said no.  Then someone offered "all the SITD".  Again I thought this meant "three sitouts and all the SITD".  But somehow Jeffy agreed to take all the SITD and no sitouts.

It wasn't "historic", Jeffy.  SITD is a fairly new thing.  Jeffy creams himself whenever someone uses one.  I think we have only ever seen one successful use of it.  If he wants to make it a bigger deal like he already thinks it is, he would have the odds increased to maybe 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.  Giving up a vote for a 1 in 6 chance doesn't seem like good odds.

I agree that I don't think Kyle would have said that.  I think Andy was just making it up to stir the pot.  When someone attributes words like that to someone else, it usually means that person himself thinks it and just wants to insult someone to their face but blame it on someone else.

And I do think of it as an insult.  Google also says that it is a term often used to imply two dumb people that can't think for themselves and just copy each other.  It is used to describe two people that are indistinguishable from each other, they have no outstanding qualities at all and there is nothing memorable about either of them.  It doesn't help that the sound "dumb" is in one of the names, leading many to use the expression as Tweedledum and Tweedledumber.

Sue herself exposed herself as dumb, she couldn't even say the names right, she was upset that Kyle (supposedly) called them "Tweedle-lee-dee and Tweedle-lee-dum".

A non-pejorative phrase to imply two people who are always together might be "two peas in a pod" or "joined at the hip" or maybe even just "BFFs".

Sam and Sierra were always together and always voted together and were seen as a team and nobody would have described them as "Tweedledee and Tweedledum".  That's why I think of this term as an insult.  True, Sam and Sierra are a man and a woman so they can't be twins, but it's not like anyone would have issues distinguishing the physical characteristics of 20 something Caroline and 60-looking Sue.

I have no idea who he is— and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t, either.)

Andy is one of the more delusional contestants in recent years.  Although I am reminded of Banu from last season who was incompetent and weepy and yet thought he was given a sign from God that he was meant to stay when someone (Random?) got medically evacuated.  Then he became a little more confident in descriping Kenzie as a "mermaid dragon".  And still went home next.

Andy and the ball.  I thought he looked like a snake trying to eat a porcupine, but he couldn’t get his jaws around it; which might be a visual metaphor for his game.  He thinks he’s a snake, but he lacks true capability.

Sam’s another silly one.

It’s like they set out to cast a bunch of stupid men this season.  The women truly seem smarter.

Now that it's come up, I could almost swear someone (Kyle?) used the Tweedledee line in a previous episode.  Maybe I'm just suggestible.  I think some people think it's an insult because of the "dum" part of Tweedledum.  So, that's dumb.

When Sol came out with that vest and the swagger, he made me think of a bouncer in a gay club, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Sue just gets creepier looking with every episode.  Wonder what she'll think when she sees herself on TV.

Gabe may not have been the better choice over Genevieve in the long run, but people fear those who do well in challenges and it's a more immediate threat.  And yes, he'll be back...on the jury.

Gabe seemed like a smart player, but anyone who has watched recent seasons of Survivor should know there is no way to make a move that will "set you up for the rest of the game" (maybe not an exact quote, but that was his point).  They have engineered so many advantages, stolen votes, random temporary teams, etc. into the game that there is no way you can really plan anything in advance.  You should try to get allied with others if you can, but your focus always needs to be to get through today's vote, and then deal with the next vote when the time comes, because circumstances are almost guaranteed to change.  That's the way they want it.  They want every vote to be a blindside/surprise/chaos, because it makes for better TV.  They don't want anything predictable.

Kyle and Teeny are about the only ones left I can stand, and I don't like their odds of making it to the final three. Kyle would have to go on an unprecedented immunity run, the likes of which we haven't seen since Colby in Season 2. And those are far more unlikely now with how well fed they are these days.

Editing seems to be telling me Genevieve is headed for the win, or possibly Andy. Those seem like the most likely finalists along with a goat like Caroline.

And editing seems to tell me that neither of these guys will win but are being set-up for some comeuppance.  To me Andy is edited as the delusional comic relief and Gen as the evil manipulative backstabber.  (Yes I use "guys" for both genders and always will).

I think Rachael is getting a better edit myself with Teeny as the darkhorse overcoming great odds.  Both Kyle for his challenge wins and Sam being cut down to size at the merge are getting underdog edits.

I guess Sue is getting the whacko edit at this point (chop up Kyle the Coconut some more) and also a cautionary tale for stupid plastic surgery stuff.

I agree Caroline is most likely the goat that slips into the final three and gets zero votes or 1 from Sue at most.

(Now watch me be completely wrong).

If you google  the original illustration of Tweedledee and  Tweedledum, you’ll see it’s definitely an insult. They’re not just identical, they’re identically stupid. But somehow Kyle doesn’t seem like the literary reference type, so Andy probably made it up.

I half expected that ball to pop when Andy bit it. Wouldn’t that have been great? Alas, that ball was made of sterner stuff.

Mike Holloway in Worlds Apart, Season 30.  He won 5 of the last 7 immunity challenges.  Used an idol on one of the ones he didn't win.  Made it to the end and won.

If Andy is the winner, he is getting a really bad edit.  Has there ever been a winner that got the "bumbling fool" edit?  I know that Gabler was edited poorly in the earlier episodes but then I feel like that edit quietly disappeared.  Andy, on the other hand, is shown doing or saying something ridiculous every episode.

He used his upper arms or elbow, I don't think that was specifically prohibited?  Everyone was using their shoulder.  I think only actual hands were prohibited.  I was waiting for the ball to roll down on Andy and touch his hands and eliminate him.

Yes we did, and it seemed like such an easier way to do it.  Did Jeff say they could only use their shoulders or head?  Not sure if they really spelled out the rules.

It always bugs me when they go to reward challenges and the don't even wash off their hands or the sand on their face before they start eating.  I know they are hungry but it would take one second to do and you wouldn't be eating sand or dirt.

Question that has probably been covered multiple times over the years but my son just asked me about last night-what kind of sunscreen are they given and how often?  It seems like no one ever has so much as a spot of a sunburn on them ever.  Does someone professionally apply it for them?  We can't be at the beach for more than an hour without someone in my family having at least a small sunburn somewhere on their body and that's with SPF 50+.  How are they never missing a spot?

How come it seems we had so many idols & advantages at the beginning but now there is nothing?  Or are these people just too lazy to look?  Haven't watched in a couple years so not sure if Idols stop being hidden after the merge?

I'm sure it bugs them too since it is production that does NOT allow them to clean up before eating.  They want the "look" for the eating shots and have always forbidden washing up before eating after a food reward challenge.
