I thought it was sad that Gwen wasn’t there.

But I love that Kidney had to watch this - his (almost) entire family gather and laugh and dance and have a great time at a huge party without him.  He and his ego weren’t the star, he wasn’t in control, he wasn’t the patriarch, he wasn’t the center of attention, heck, he wasn’t even there! 

Christine, the wife he rejected, is surrounded by all the kids, and so much love.  And then there’s Kidney, stuck with sour puss Robyn, who dances like a pole.

Christine was truly radiant and this wedding was just what she needed.  I feel like we all needed it.  After all, we were all suffering with her through her marriage to that creep for so many years.   It was a nice event, although a little rough around the edges in some ways.  I can look past that because everyone was having such a good time that it didn't matter.  It's what it meant to them that counts. 

I will nitpick on one thing, though - I didn't like the neckline of her gown on her.  I get it that a deep plunge helps minimize a large chest, but that was a little too deep and not the most flattering look for her in my opinion.  But she was glowing so brightly I'm probably the only person that noticed.  I did like the lace, though!

Was Logan there?  I didn't see him and forgive me if this was discussed somewhere else and I missed it.

I'm really pissed that we had to look at that asshole's face again.  I'm even more convinced that it's in his contract to appear in every episode.  Ugh.

I loved it that Janelle called him out for all that nasty stuff he said about never being attracted to Christine and finding her "gross".  That really was horrible, especially doing that in front of millions of people on TV.  He really deserves to have his face rubbed in Christine's happiness.  I am rarely this kind of vindictive person but this asshole really has it coming.  

I wish Christine and David all the happiness in the world.

I'm just starting this epi and I'm so happy that not only did Christine find real happiness after ditching the wet noodle, but also that the OG kids, Christine and Janelle are all forever family. Even Douchie McNoodlehead could not kill their bond. Good for them!

One nitpicky thing though, why the hell can't David speak proper English?!? "When she come walkin' down',, and "But when I seen you". WTF?!? It's "when she CAME walking down" and "When I SAW you". Jesus H Christ.

LOL, I hear you!  The way he speaks reminds me of some of the Amish I watched on other reality shows.  In their case, though, they only get an 8th grade education.  What's his excuse?

He sounds like pure Utah man (or pure Intermountain West man) to me, with a cadence that comes from speaking in church regularly. The youngs in general sound like that less and less but David speaks like most of his generation and nearly all of his parents' generation. Tough times make for tough people, and grammar is not necessarily a priority.

After all those years of pain and the hateful and hurtful things that were said to her, I am very happy for Christine.

In retrospect, I think that what Cody put Meri through unknowingly colored my perception of her. She is so much more pleasant now that she has gotten rid of that jerk. And she genuinely seems happy for Christine. I wish her all the best.

If I were David I would hate Cody's guts or kidney for hurting his queen like that. He must think Cody is insane. Oh that's right,he is.

I am not a wedding person but I loved that. Proper feel good tv. Having all the OG kids together having fun was oddly emotional. Gwen is so going to regret her decision.

Janelle looked *stunning* and I loved her little dig about Christine and David watching their grandkids from the porch. That will be their life and with such a huge family, their place will be buzzing with activity. Suck it, Crybrows.

I'd like to know more about Annie and her shunning when she left Rex. I'm pretty sure she wasn't even able to meet up with Christine to fit that (abomination of a) dress. Both Meri and Janelle seem to hold Rex in very high regard so I'd like to know a little more about him too.

Meri came over genuine in her well-wishes. The other two can just go away, please.

So Kody treats Robyn like a....pole....when he dances with her.  Can't say I'm surprised.  After all, it's all about Kody on the dance floor so I can completely believe that he uses Robyn as his prop.

Other observations:

First of all, I'm not crying, I have...allergies.  *sniff*

I appreciated that they ran the ceremony without any intercuts from Mophead and Crybrows.  Look, some of us (not naming names) have been with this family since Day One, so I liked that they seemed to be including the viewing audience as part of the actual audience.  Call me emotional (still not crying though), but it was nice.

Loved all the girls zipping Christine into her dress, Paedon walking his mom down the aisle and then her dad taking the last few feet.  Truely bringing the rings, rocking her purple hair and dress and then hugging her mom and giving her words of wisdom beyond her years, hugging David, and then - in the most baby Truely way - kind of sashaying off the stage, not in an attention-ho Kody way, but Truely being authentic.  We all remember that little bald-headed baby girl pirouetting in the middle of every family gathering, it's nice to see she still retains her spirit despite being the most ignored child of Kody Brown.

David shaking Christine's dad's hand on the way back up the aisle was classy.  

The reception looked amazing.  Loved that all the kids were genuinely happy for Christine and David, and - of note - none of them dissed their dad in order to be happy for their mom/bonus mom.  Their class outshines Kody's like the sun outshines a black hole.

I rolled my eyes initially at sitting through two episodes of this wedding, but it turns out, I kinda loved it.  Still not cry -- oh, crap.  Yes, I was.  A little.

Christine glowed—despite the dress, but both she and David were happy! I did blush every time she kissed David. Full tongue and all! It  was giving me “teens making out in the backseat of a car” vibes, but good for her! Yes, she was a little inebriated! They looked like they all had a blast!

I liked how she mentioned her 13 kids. Her 6, Janelle’s 6, and Leon.  So, NONE of Robyn’s.

The PDA was a bit much, but everyone there seemed happy.  The two families seemed pleased in each other’s company,  

I did not see Savanah in the bride’s dressing room even though Maddie was definitely in there.  Therefore I was pleased to see Christine grab her and get her on the dance floor during the larger mother  daughter dance. Sometimes I feel she gets left out because she is so much younger than Aspen, MyKelti, Maddie and Logan’s Michelle.

I did not catch a glimpse of Leon at the wedding.  Saw Them on the boat but not at the actual wedding.  Don't recall seeing Garrison at the wedding, either.  I didn't pause on what looked to be an entire family photo to see if I could spot them so maybe they were there.

Still wonder why Gwen wasn't there.  School commitments sound like a lame reason to me, but that's just me.

It might be mean of me but I would not feel bad for Kody at all if seeing Caleb in these celebrations, or anything else related to Christine, is like a knife to the kidneys to him.

I'm thinking it's a combo of school commitments (organic chemistry midterm is nothing to sneeze at) plus knowing Paedon would be there. Of course Christine wanted her there but she knew in advance and I'm sure Gwen and her mom talked it out. I'm sorry Gwen missed what was a really fun family event including her grandparents being there.

I thought Kody was sincere in his best wishes.  Robyn was on the edge of her seat waiting for something oafish to come out of his mouth.  LOL.  

 

ETA, Until somebody in the family said it I hadn't realized it....Christine will be the one who will be sitting on her porch with the love of her life, surrounding by a huge and growing family.  Just beautiful.  And ironic.

I have seen Leon in photos so I know they were there, and I think I spotted Logan in a white shirt during the reception.  I didn't spot Garrison but I think I saw him in pictures, too.  It could be that those three simply don't want to be filmed at all anymore, so they were edited out of the show.

It makes me think that we won't see Logan's wedding at all on SW.  If not, good for him, bummer for us. :)

If I had to describe this episode in one word, it would be cathartic.

Logan, Michelle, Leon, and Audrey don't want to be on the show at all, so I'm sure they avoided the cameras. They were all definitely on the boat ride on the day of the rehearsal. I'm sure they were at the wedding.

At the wedding reception, I did see Leon in a couple of brief flashes, dancing near Christine. You could see Garrison behind Janelle and some attractive brunette woman, during the lap dance scene. (I still can't get over that Christine did that in front of -- well, in front of anyone -- her whole family and the worldwide television audience.)

Here are pictures of my TV screen, that I took with my very old phone. The sun was coming in the window and hitting the TV (which needs to be dusted). Sorry for the quality. I also had to convert them to jpegs, and reduce the quality, so that they wouldn't be too large to post here.

Leon is in the white/light shirt with the darker spots, to our left of Mykelti, who is dancing in the center in a rust colored dress. 

Here's Garrison. Sorry for the sunspot (and possible smudge on Garrison's mouth).

I'm a sap, so I loved this episode.  It was so nice to see the two families blending and everyone just having a great time together.  I loved the ladies all on the dance floor just having fun, especially Annie really getting into it.  I also loved seeing David actually dancing with Christine rather than dancing around her and occasionally grabbing her and nearly pulling her arm out of it's socket like Kody does.  I didn't even mind the lap dance because it was toward the end of the reception and everyone was a little tipsy by then.  I would be mortified if it were me, but I think everyone just laughed it off.  I'm sorry Gwen couldn't be there and I don't see an organic chemistry midterm as a lame excuse not to come.  She would have lost at least three days of study time with traveling and wedding activities, not to mention the risk that she wouldn't get back in time for her exam.

I loved Truley bringing up the rings.  My minor complaint was that Corbin the officiant seemed to be rushing through the ceremony and just started talking instead of hanging back and letting Truley hug and give good wishes to her mom and David.  Fortunately he quickly got a clue and waited.  That was so touching to me and I also loved Truley sashaying off the stage when she was done.  I can't wait to see what kind of snarky personality she has as she gets older.  Loved that her hair matched her outfit.

Janelle looked stunning in her dress.  That color can really wash someone with pale skin out unless it is pretty saturated.  The style and the color were perfect for her and her hair and makeup were nice too.  I loved her bringing up all the hateful things Kody said throughout their marriage and the little dig about Christine sitting on the porch in her rocking chair watching her growing family was perfect.  Go Janelle.

Because I'm a sap I do hope after some years and softening of feelings that Meri can be included in the group as well.  I want her to have happiness too.  She endured a lot of pain from Kody just like Christine.  Heck, he melted down the wedding ring she gave him behind her back then acted like it was no big deal.  Then he divorced her to marry Robyn and went on yet another honeymoon.  I want Meri to find someone who loves her the way David loves Christine.  I know she has made mistakes, but none of them were perfect and she doesn't deserve a lifetime of punishment.

Kidney and his sour faced bride can go live miserably ever after for all I care.  Could have done without seeing them kissing.  Maybe even Robyn realized that was the quickest way to get the camera operator to run away.

My late FIL would say, "we was" instead of we were.  I got used to it!

Lovely wedding!  Christine's girls all looked beautiful without upstaging the bride.  Her neckline was a bit low, but she still looked lovely.

Christine's dress looked better at a distance being filmed than in the close up stills.  It was still not the best style or fit, but she was happy.

I loved David's mother's dress.  I'm glad she was happy to wear sparkle.

I'm a huge nerd about mechanics in written English, but spoken dialects are a different story. My linguistics professor would say that it is impossible for native speakers to say something wrong -- if it feels right to them, then it's correct in their dialect.

This is not a well educated group of adults. Sounds like maybe David didn't grow up middle class.

That's a really interesting way to look at linguistics. And yet, why do we have so much focus on learning proper grammar in school?

So overall I loved this episode, as someone upthread said, it felt cathartic. I so appreciated Janelle calling out Douche's cruelty in his more recent remarks that he never loved Christine. He's trying to re write history but these ladies all have his number now. I also loved that the OG 13 minus Gwen, were all together again and that Gabe echoed what they all were feeling, that 'their family' is still intact and will always be so forever. That? Is the one positive outcome of this plyg family bullshit, that these two sisterwives and their 13 children will always be family no matter what. Douche likes to bandy about how 'nobody will separate me from Robyn', well guess what asshole? Nobody will ever separate Christine, Janelle, and their 13 children either, so suck on that you nasty piece of shit.

Sorry, that went in a different direction than I meant! I found myself smiling and tearing up a lot during this episode, I hope Christine and David have a long and very fufilling marriage. And despite what she says, I hope Janelle finds someone who knocks her socks off in every way, she deserve that. Ditto Meri.

Thank you everyone who posted confirmation of Leon (I had seen them on the boat the day before) and Garrison.  Appreciate it!

On another note, "I seen" and "should of" will never be correct to my ears.  What kind of primary schools did people go to where they learned that "should of" is correct??  Gah!

Ya know, I am also gonna chime in to say how healing this episode felt.  I also think the dress was...meh.  Christine is really pretty and i think something less formal, more "flowy" would have been a better fit for her body and personality, but...i get that she really wanted the whole real wedding dress thing that she didn't get with awful Kody.

And the dress kinda symbolized the feel of the entire event.  Nothing was perfect...and yet...everything was as they wanted it...so...perfect.

It certainly wasn't polish, but it was perfect.

It felt real.  It felt like watching real families coming together.

Also in attendance was Ysabel's boyfriend. Unlike Audrey, Leon, Hunter's Audrey, Michelle, Logan, his face was blurred out in the very brief shots he was in. I completely understand why some family members choose not to be on camera, and I respect them for it. 

I also respect Gwen's choice not to attend, for whatever personal reasons. This board has been pretty respectful of her choice as well, which is refreshing.

It’s country. I am from a northeast rural yankee farmer background (eastern New York State) and my parents and their friends talked like that among one another.

I've taught English as a Second Language and studied Linguistics a bit.

Overall, the idea of how people speak to each other in a region or subculture isn't wrong.

My idea is to teach people to speak and write so that they can get, keep and move up in the jobs and career they want, and won't be ruled out by snotty, classist people, who can't see past a grammatical mistake to what people really have to offer.

They can code switch the way they continue to talk to their friends and family.

I don't think there is a lot of emphasis on this any more. But the reason we ought to emphasize it is that informal dialects work great inside of communities, but poorly across communities. It's a positive thing to have a standardized version of a language that people from all regions can speak and understand. This is essential in a written language. It's inevitable, though, that some nonstandard versions will be stigmatized (like New Jersey=violent mobster or Appalachian=ignorant hayseed).

David Woolley does drywall, so his nonstandard grammar won't hurt his business. But if he tried to sell luxury real estate, he would hit a wall. If you want kids to have the freedom to do any job in any region, they need to speak/write the standard dialect in addition to whatever they speak at home.

Did it look to anyone else like Mrs. Woolley might have been wearing the Temple garment (Mormon underwear) under her dress? There was a distinctive white shirt outline underneath the navy lace at the top of her dress, and it detracted from her otherwise elegant look.

If so, I don't fault her for following her religion. I just wish someone in her family had told her to have the top of the dress lined, so the garment wouldn't show through the lace.

ITA with all the comments of love and well wishes for Christine and David. I had to grab a tissue. Someone mentioned that it was a healing moment, too. It was great hearing the OG kids talk about how wonderful it was to have the family come together again and be the family they are. (without Kody trying to crush everyone's happiness)

I also heard genuine emotional happiness that David's family is like the other half of their family they didn't know they had. I forgot how it was stated. David's family was out-partying them, lol. I loved that. Everyone is happy, celebrating their union. I would like to see at least another season of this show how both families are blending. (without the tumor named Kody)

Christine got to dance with her dad. Her mom was there. I also liked that Christine asked that all the women come up and dance together. Awesome that everyone was doing a flash mob moment. Christine recognized it and explained it to David. Such a sincere, sweet moment that caught Christine by surprise. 

Mykelti needs to stop sucking all the air out of the room. Put your obnoxious instigator self away.
