Popular Post Carey November 16, 2023 Popular Post Share November 16, 2023 One thing I'll say as it relates to modern day Survivor: I think I loved this episode. It had EVERYTHING. For me it was a return to the past. While mixing with new stuff. Loved seeing Survivor Auction, the likely end of someone (Bruce), and most important: The return of that FIRE of getting voted out. Preceded by TRUE shock from the victim (Kellie). Jake didn't go, he survived like Bruce. However, after a season with several people quitting, despite the struggle, I have to respect Jake for trying to survive like it's his life & play the game. Sure that WHOA! I think was obnoxious, but the shock from him (and the tears from Kendra) made for a great episode 29 Link to comment
jsm1125 November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 (edited) What is it with Probst and his fixation on having people lose their votes? I wish we heard more from Dee and Julie this episode, especially when it comes to their thoughts on the women’s alliance vs. their ties to Austin and Drew. We only got Emily’s perspective on that end. Poor Katurah: She hasn’t been eligible to vote out Bruce once this entire season. Edited November 16, 2023 by jsm1125 4 2 6 Link to comment

LadyChatts November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 (edited) I love bitter TC. Kellie was so in shock she initially forgot to take her torch to Jeff and was glaring at people asking them if this was because of them. The only thing missing was her telling Emily to F-off when she told her she played a great game. But good times! I didn't care that much for Kellie, but she had a golden opportunity to get rid of Bruce at the last TC and she didn't. And honestly, if they wanted Bruce gone bad enough, they should have said to heck with the rice. I haven't been a big fan of Jake, but I thought he played a good game tonight. For a minute there at TC, when he was having trouble finding the words, I thought he was going to make Probst quit the game by standing up and saying he was done, and the third quit of S45. While I question his plan at the previous TC with the rock draw, I do like someone who doesn't want to follow the herd like a sheep. I like that he went down swinging, and reminding everyone that someone is on the bottom and may not realize it. This got me thinking, is anyone going to figure out the votes that went to Kellie? Four Reba + Emily? Not that Belo can really do anything at this point, unless Emily wakes up and realizes her best chance in this game really isn't with Drew and Austin. Yay to the auction being back! I liked the different twists to it (having to hunt for money, whoever had the most money left at the end losing their vote, and it still ending randomly by a number draw). I'm with Drew though, where were the big meals? Edited November 16, 2023 by LadyChatts 12 1 1 Link to comment

Carey November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 We're still a minute away from the end, and who knows what's next. However, if Kellie had any sway in the jury a la Karla (right now who know), one thing I'd forget about in favor of Bruce is that he didn't vote for her. That would be one thing one could forget following the Auction twist. Link to comment

I liked Kellie, but as others have said above, it's so rare that it's that big a shock to someone. I should've known when they focused on her saying Jake had started playing too hard too early, especially with Jeff acting so performatively mystified that Jake thought it would be unanimous. Great to see the auction back, including really gross stuff! Why, Austin, why?? 4 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Vikitty November 16, 2023 Popular Post Share November 16, 2023 That episode was a wild ride. The auction was great. The money added a new twist, the advantages omission was an obvious adjustment. The only thing I didn't think worked great was the "whoever has the most money loses their vote" thing because as soon as that happened, the bidding was forced. We knew who was going to get each item. I do think the idea of whoever has the most money left has a penalty is an interesting twist but I think it could be done better. I thought for sure Jake was going home. JAKE thought for sure he was going home. But damn, that blindside was the first good blindside in a LONG time. 22 3 Link to comment

North of Eden November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 (edited) I'm not a Bruce fan but anything that goes against Katura makes me happy so his winning immunity was great. She's a completely empty shell if you take away her Bruce obsession. Naturally, I was ecstatic when she blew the Monty Hall Let's Make a Deal and wound up with those jeepers creepers giant fish peepers. Kellie trying to blame it all on Emily was ridiculous with her "You did this!" Tough luck. No sympathy because I didn't like the way she was practicing revisionist history that Bruce has been following her around the whole time when early on they were a solid alliance despite what she was spinning. As for the auction if by some miracle Brandon was still there he would have had a completely empty basket. Props to Jeff with knifing the bag of rice...that was a creative little fun add-on. Early on I thought Emily was taking an unnecessary risk outing the Female Alliance but I guess it worked out. Kendra is just so gross...I didn't like her already but listening to her gush on about her S-Donor put me off. In my book anyway, your father is the man who put food in your mouth for 18 years, wiped your nose when you needed it, and kept a roof over your head. She never said anything bad about her adopted father but the fact that she didn't even know she was adopted until age 18 then meeting her biological Dad for the first time and really connecting and loving him too was so very very sweet for both of them. TVFan1 November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 Very good episode. The auction was fun, and the best part were no advantages hidden in any of the items. The player with the most money left at the end of the auction loses their vote. I wish this lose your vote thing would just stop. Sad to see Kellie go, but did she really think everyone was voting for Jake? I thought I heard her say that she knew votes were coming her way. I get she was blindsided and heartbroken, but she seemed more surprised than I thought she would have been. Not much of a fan of Jake, but this is a guy that truly wants to play the game. Lantern7 November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 Who was Kellie? Why did she get voted out? Some of the women blur together on me. I thought Jake was a goner. He does seem to be more than a bargain basement version of Boston Rob. I am concerned that he might collapse again. I didn't think of that when he was stumbling with his words. I probably would have done the same in his place. I'm still thinking Bruce is going to win. He's nigh-imposible to kill. I honestly thought Katurah was going to get voted out for the sins of hating him and caving in to Probst's rice threat. Bruce winning would give Probst the biggest thrill . . . the guy that nearly killed himself last season triumphing at last. Sadly, the guy is more like Philip, Rupert or Coach . . . just a big blowhard that's overstayed his welcome. 2 hours ago, jsm1125 said: What is it with Probst and his fixation on having people lose their votes? Lol okay that’s a good point. Actually this kind of reminds me of first season Survivor, when the Tagi 4 blindsided Gretchen at the merge, while the rest of Pagong had been anti-alliance and voting for whoever they want. Belo was willing to sacrifice two of their own tonight, and Bruce only stuck around because he won immunity. But I guess the question is, will Belo try to pull something together and maybe try to blindside a Reba member (or Emily) or just continue on their dysfunctional way? Considering the dynamic between Katurah and Bruce I’m guessing they’ll take their chances with Reba (and their back up member Emily). Kendra’s cried twice at being blindsided, and that was when her allies were voted off (well Kellie and then whatever Brando was to her). I wonder if she’d lose it if they blindsided her out of the game? 2 1 Link to comment

violet and green November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 Woah! That was such a fun reading of the votes. Kellie's doubletake when her name came out of the urn was so good. Then Kendra behind her pulling a Cowardly Lion face while crying. Kellie so cross about being voted out, when moments before she was all happily "sucks to be you" as Jake's name was being read out. Jake letting out that enormous "Woah!" with amazement and relief and then realising it was a bit tone-deaf, doing a second sadder-sounding little "Woah". So good. The little facial expresssions from Kaleb, also. Kellie banging on this episode about having to get Bruce out now was ridiculous when she was the one who scuppered the plan to get him out at the previous split tribal. Lady Calypso November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 Well, that was certainly a blindside. Reba+ Emily decided to take Kellie out, I guess. Not a terrible decision, given how rocky Jake's game has been, but damn, did they maybe burn a vote already from the blindside. As much as Kellie tried to be a good sport ("good move, I guess"), you can tell she's EXTREMELY pissed off. She did not look happy at Emily when she confessed to voting her out, but I wonder if Kellie assumes that Emily led that vote against her. That could be very bad for her or very good, depending on Kellie's mindset at the end of the game AND if Emily makes it to F3. Jake's grown on me. He may not be a good player, but I appreciate his reasoning for making the moves he has. Saying he made a mistake with voting for Julie with the hindsight of Kaleb still going, but also recognizing that he doesn't want to follow the herd of votes because that's boring is great insight from him. I did like his gameplay as well on pretending to slip up about an idol to cause a little bit of panic. I think, whether or not Reba 4 + Emily were flipping already, it was a good way to sew some doubt. And I love that Jake decided to blatantly idol hunt. Some great material from Jake this week, even if it wasn't all good for him in the game. He did point out to the other bottom players that they're gonna be next after him. I hope it put things into perspective, especially since he's still there. Of course Bruce wins immunity AND still has his idol. They are giving him a terrible edit, though. It's almost funny to watch how bad of an edit they're giving him, at this point. Even if he won out to the end, I don't see him winning; people really hate him that much. He'd be a zero vote finalist, even with having to win out. I really dislike Drew in this game. He may be a fine person outside of it, but game Drew is really slimy but also, to me, really obvious? Even without the knowledge of him wanting to get Katurah on his side, the way he went about manipulating her "we'll take YOUR lead, Katurah!", seemed really obvious to me. I get it's good gameplay and all, but it felt really icky to watch. But I think Drew presents himself as some leader but it comes across as smug and condescending. Seeing the Survivor auction was fun and seeing the changes they made were great. No advantages, hooray! Seeing most people get good stuff was fantastic, but the fish eyes were gross. Never again show that on TV and never again play it BACK. The women are doing well, so that's a positive. I really loved seeing Julie outlast several people to be against Bruce; that challenge looked TOUGH. 7 Link to comment

Lady Calypso November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 I also want to speak on Emily here. I feel really bad for her being manipulated by Drew/Austin. I fully think she's making the wrong move by trusting Austin/Drew that much, but I see why she's doing what she's doing. She was on a tribe where she had a rough start and, thus, nobody ended up trusting her except for Kaleb. But she even voiced it in an earlier episode that she felt used and only as a number and nothing more. Then, we see Drew/Austin including her and for the first time, she felt hope that she was in an alliance with people who wanted her. She lost Kaleb, the only person she fully trusted, so she had to turn to the only two people who made her feel included. Of course she would align with them, since she knows she started the game off on a really bad foot and has been clinging to anyone that takes her in and makes her feel included. It really sucks that she can't see that Drew/Austin couldn't care less about her, at least compared to Dee/Julie, and that they'll drop her the moment she's useless to them. I feel so bad if/when she's blindsided by the two of them. With Kellie's blindside and a potential Emily blindside, we could end up with some pissed off jurors. Emily is a logical person so she might see why Drew/Austin did it, but we've ALSO seen her be very matter of fact and see things as statistics, so if they blindside her too early, she'll see that and call them out. 5 Link to comment

I guess she was too connected to Bruce, and the HII is scary enough I suppose. She probably needed to make that move. On the other hand, I hardly think I would've voted for her as she hasn't done much or anything for the title. To be fair for Kellie, I don't think she thought Bruce would win immunity, so she might've survived had it been anyone else. I guess she needed him to get to the end so she could win there. After all, she hasn't received a vote prior to her ouster. However, that's not always a great thing. I don't think I'd vote for someone if I didn't know they were on my season. At the end of the day, Kellie did not deserve to win. Of course, no one else has done anything worth winning either. As for Bruce, I don't know if he's as hated as it appears. Katurah is the only person that can't stand the guy at a top level, but IDK if it's that legit for everyone. Though I think Jake might be the closest toward being someone to vote for for the title, while being the person with the worst chance to get there. That includes Emily, but that'll change if one of other 2 tribes that didn't struggle early obtain enough number & put the heat aside to avoid a come from behind victory in a way Link to comment

I was surprised and impressed, she's always seemed like a middle-aged Marcia Brady to me, there's just a prissiness to her looks, but there's some true grit under all that. There's a warm fuzzy little scene in my mind of Kendra and her bio-dad meeting for the first time. Both of them making huge exaggerated body movements and extreme facial expressions, belching over their beers, eating with their mouths open, and that instant recognition of familiarity and love. I wanted a big deli-sub for Austin so much. I kept telling him to hold out for the cheeseburger they usually have, but I'm glad he didn't listen to me. Great blindside of Kellie. I don't expect we'll ever get another one as satisfying as Eduardo because his began with that big self-satisfied grin on his face. Plus he had been smug throughout the season. It takes a long game to build a blindside that good. 4 Link to comment
Matty November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 Awesome tribal council. This is why I watch Survivor. Drew, Austin and Emily are the power trio. Hope they continue to work together. 7 1 Link to comment
seacliffsal November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 I know that some people really didn't like it, but I LOVED it when Jeff took the knife to the bag of rice! Katura trying to get people to promise not to vote out those who sat out the challenge while others are just 'somebody sit out!' I loved the panic that ensued. THAT'S the kind of twist that I want! I also laughed that the person who found the least amount of money had the most at the end of the auction and therefore lost his vote (Bruce). I think that Bruce thinks he has this game locked up due to his total lack of urgency to find auction money. They showed just a brief scene of the Rotu + Emily talk about voting for someone other than Jake, but I should have realized (but, sadly, didn't) that Austin would have been pushing for Kellie so that his amulet would become an idol (and then he would have pay-back for not being able to get the sandwich on their 'journey'). Oh, and Kellie was MAD! I always love a good blindside. Unfortunately, both the players and Jeff have weakened the definition of 'blindside' (Jeff seems to think any kind of vote-out is a blindside) but this truly was. And Kellie's reaction was everything I could hope for. But, her targeting one person (Emily) for her exit is short-sighted; after all, it took five people to vote her out. And, like others, I thought Jake was going to pass out. I like him and hope he isn't medivaced out. Oh, and I meant to add that many seemed concerned for Emily in the Rotu + 1 alliance and I think she is actually in a good position. As they near the end one pair will target the other (Dee/Julie vs. Austin/Drew) and Emily could be the swing vote. She may actually get further due to being the potential swing vote. Or not. 6 Link to comment
bunnyface November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 I hope there was some time lapse between when Kellie won her margarita and PB&J and the end of the auction. Because otherwise it was "here's your food" and "it's done, leave all your food behind" and she got two bites. She seemed reluctant to let it go. When Kellie turned around and asked Austin "Did you do this?" did anybody else hear in their head "I wanted that sandwich!!!" They shoulda just let him have the sandwich. 9 11 Link to comment
peachmangosteen November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 I am once again on the opposite table because I kinda hated this episode. Emily snitching on the women's alliance immediately. Idiot. I truly can not stand Austin. And now he has what like 10 idols and 5 other advantages. Fuck me lol. I feel like we're missing some vital info in the Kendra story about her dad. Like, why didn't he ever try to contact her? I don't know but that story was just off. I liked Kellie but it was fun to see someone so stunned. And I didn't get why she was acting so into getting Bruce out when she could have just done it the day before. It just feels like this is an inevitable march to Drew/Austin in the F3 and I honestly don't know if I can watch that. 6 Link to comment

Adoptions seem to be changing the rules all the time, but I have a friend who gave her baby up for adoption long ago, and after that all the files were sealed until the baby was grown and wanted to find her bio-mom. In other words, the child has to initiate the action and all the bio-parents can do is put their names and addresses on a list saying that they would welcome contact. Many years have passed and not a word from the daughter to all our grief. (I have reason to think my brother was the father and if so, that young lady is the last of our line from my childless family.) 25 minutes ago, bunnyface said: They shoulda just let him have the sandwich. Heck yeah! If I've learned anything from Survivor it's that fit (low body fat) young men experience the hunger much more intensely than those fluffy young women. A few young guys have had to quit for just that reason. 3 Link to comment
Nashville November 16, 2023 Share November 16, 2023 IMHO Probst doing the Turkish Revenge on the rice sack was one of the best things he’s done in years, and he played it off to perfection. When Jiffy said to Katurah “Let me help incentivize you just a little bit” and reached down into the wicker basket, you heard Katurah say “yeah, yeah, yeah…” - and you KNEW she thought JP was pulling out an additional reward to sweeten the deal. But then Peachy comes back up with the K-Bar, and with a totally conversational “You got it” - and no hesitation whatsoever - jams the knife into the sack…? Don’t know about anybody else, but the beauty of his brevity took my breath away. It was sociopathy elevated to performance art. 😆 7 hours ago, LadyChatts said: Kendra’s cried twice at being blindsided, and that was when her allies were voted off (well Kellie and then whatever Brando was to her). I wonder if she’d lose it if they blindsided her out of the game? Dunno - but I can’t wait to find out. 2 hours ago, Lady Calypso said: I did like [Jake's] gameplay as well on pretending to slip up about an idol to cause a little bit of panic. Yup - kudos to Jake on that little bit of acting. 2 hours ago, Lady Calypso said: Of course Bruce wins immunity AND still has his idol. They are giving him a terrible edit, though. It's almost funny to watch how bad of an edit they're giving him, at this point. So - in addition to a Purple Kelly edit, do we now have a Yellow Bruce…? 😄 7 6 2 Link to comment
