S16.E10: Love is Up in the Air

For some of out newly wed strangers, love is in the air -- but not necessarily on everyone's lips.  While some spouses confront deep questions and look inward, other couples try to build love through shared adventures.  But after all the sailings, spa nights, and heart-to-hearts, not all of our couples are seeing eye-to-eye.

Airs Wednesday, March 8, at 8:00PM EST.

I’m not fond of Gina, however she does deserve some credit for stepping into Clint’s world on the sailboat. I believe she actually enjoyed her first trip on the sailboat. Nice job, Gina

Airris: Hell, no, love isn't for me. My ego is too fragile. I run from love.

Also Airris: Married at First Sight? Sign me up!

Seriously, a guy who freaked out over almost having loving feelings that one time, should not have been considered for this show. Unless they don't actually care about making real matches. Could that be???

Kirsten's face when Shaq speaks about liking plants ☹️

...and Airris reverts to his favorite topic, now featuring orgies.

Like Jasmine, I'm fine not knowing that.

I'm going back to the Red Wings game, even though it's intermission.

My opinions are changing on some of these people, darn editors.
Thoughts:

I am really liking Nicole and I think she’s beautiful!  And she has gorgeous hair.  I felt for her with her body image issues; I have them too.
I still hate Airris.   What an immature tool.  Jasmine really defended him on Afterparty.
Clint is growing on me, kind of.  Maybe just a little.
Shaq is surprisingly cold.  I didn’t think he’d be that reserved.
EVERYONE can lose me with “thick”.  That’s such an insult and yes, I am “thick”.

I’m disgusted.  The show picked this weirdo Airris for that poor nice girl Jasmine?  He’s asking her all these weird sexual questions?  I’d pack my bag and get the hell out of there.  What nerve.  Makes me sick.  Or is it fake just for drama?

I don’t like that they picked slightly heavier girls so they could embarrass them on tv too.  What’s this show coming to?

Nothing wrong with being thick or curvy. Owning it may work best.

We all have our insecurities. But, not everything is an attack.

Also, any body type can be thick. It doesn't mean fat.

There is also the fact that women could request or talk about a dudes appearance all they want on this show. But, don't dare flip it.

Part of the process pre selection will involve appearance. But, then, there is having to deal with what you actually do get. It's tricky. They are going to be asked certain questions so nany times. In reality, no one would be hearing these talking heads.

I can call myself thick (OK overweight), but I don't want to hear anyone else call me thick (or overweight).  I also try not to call anyone else out on their body types.

I will call Airris out on his obsession with sex.  So by his definition, if a person has never cheated or had a one-night stand then they haven't lived.  I guess I haven't lived.  Sometimes I get the feeling he hasn't been with that many women but has watched a lot of porn and thinks that is the way men are.

Clint and Gina seem more like they are developing a friendship, not a marriage. Boring episode, next week looks better.

I said the exact same thing to my wife last night. I could really see them deciding to divorce on decision day, and then head out to catch a concert at the Bridgestone. I do think they're starting to enjoy hanging out with one another (at least it's being presented that way), but they have about as much chemistry as ketchup and buttermilk.

Add me to the list of people who thought that "thicc" (I hate misspelling words on purpose, but here we are 2023) was a compliment.

This season is boring. There's no way around it. Jasmine and Arris seem to have the weirdest relationship dynamic of the bunch, and I'm not sure why she sticks around. Just because he considers himself a "sexual person" doesn't mean that it has to be the only conversation they have.

Gina and Clint have become that couple that like each other but not for themselves.  They might hook each other up with a friend after the show.

I still think that maybe the show should have put Shaq with Jasmine.  Then Airris and Kirstin could fight it out between them.  I might enjoy watching that.

I like that the show is 90 minutes now, but every week I struggle to get through it. These couples are boring AF!

I usually watch the recording a bit later and zip through the commercials. Last night my husband and I watched in real time, and it was torture.

Production always asks both the new grooms and new brides what their impression is of their new spouses, immediately after the ceremony. I don't know why these folks don't know by now not to incriminate themselves. Chris started out by saying Nicole had a nice smile, and pretty eyes, and then the thick comment. Why? Why? Why? How stupid!

And yes, I think the women are equal opportunity offenders.

All the women remaining, except Jasmine, are bottom heavy. More pear shaped.

We thought Clint was in Gina's salon for a haircut and beard trim; he'd look so much better.

Airris and his pervy self, was a bad match for a preacher's daughter.

Shaq made good points during their at home spa date. Kirsten can ask Shaq to reveal things about himself that she doesn't know, but she won't reciprocate?  Her walls are too high. Personally, I don't think it's because she has trouble being vulnerable, but rather, because she knows that Shaq is not her end game.

OMG - could that show BE any more boring than last night? (Shout out to Chandler Bing) No, I do not think it could. There was no energy or chemistry anywhere.

Gina and Clint - I actually kind of like him and think he is attractive, especially when he put on the cowboy hat. But, he does talk too much. If Gina had worn jeans or a mid-length jean skirt instead of those Daisy Dukes, she would have looked nice for their bull riding date. They are definitely in the friend zone and she said last night on Afterparty that they don't kiss or hold hands because it is not "organic." I would have loved to go sailing.

Jasmine and Arris - run Jasmine and don't look back. He's a weirdo freak. I didn't understand their version of "Never Have I Ever" since he kept saying things about his sexual experiences and held his hand up like he hadn't, but he clearly had because he chastised her for being boring since she had never cheated or been in an orgy. Yuck. He just wants to get back out there so she should let him - now. I THINK she likes him, but I hope not.

Kirsten and Shaq - I do believe that he is really trying, but that career decision should have been made together. They could have come to the same decision, but she would have felt included. She, however, is a pretty face. Period. She is giving him NOTHING to work with and she will lose him. She even broke down on AfterParty that she can't open up, but since she was cast, that was a huge mistake. She isn't ready and he seems really willing to work with her. Too bad. She didn't seem too helpful when they were shopping for plants and didn't like anything he did. How exciting.

Chris and Nicole will be fine. They are also very boring and she should stop playing with her hair.

I really don't get why women who are insecure with their figures continue to wear clothes that are extremely tight and unflattering. Either you are good with it and want to flaunt it, or you're not and dress more conservatively. You don't get it both ways.

I am confused. I thought the prevailing opinion these days (as far as men are concerned), is the thicker the better. If you don't have an ass the size of the Grand Canyon - they are not interested. When did the pendulum swing back to thinner girls? Being on the thin size, I really want to know, because I was not copied on this memo. I also want to point out that I am within an hour or so of Nashville, so there is no big divide between Northen men and Southern men for me. All for drama perhaps?

Gosh, you're brave to watch this show in real time!!!

I have fast forwarded the last few seasons so much. I'm only paying attention to Chris/Nicole and partial attention to Clint/Gina.  Will never understand all the tattoos on Nicole.

I work out in a public gym and I see some woman who are pretty but their thin muscular bodies are a turn off. Fit woman who are 10-40 pounds overweight look far more appealing and more healthy. 50 pounds and over can be problematic appearance and health wise.

Looks like I did myself a favor by skipping it.

As for Clint and Gina if they become nothing more than good friends, that's more than some get out of the show.

Don't believe everything you read or hear, most guys don't care what shape a female is if it's the right female for them. Some of us may think we have a preference but only the shallowest base their choice of mate on looks alone or what the "prevailing opinion" may be and even that is deemed to be prevailing by women and the media anyway.

I don't just read it or hear it - it's prevalent in real life.

I felt for Clint when Gina's salon colleague started in with the 'ginger' comments-such as she thought all gingers were messy/dirty, etc.  And Gina just smiled along with it.  He seemed at a loss for words.  So, Gina can totally eviscerate him for saying he normally dates slender/athletic women, but she can totally make an support derogatory statements about gingers? Alrighty then.

Shaq seems to have reached his breaking point with Kirstin while plant shopping.  I think he is very much tiring of her non-responsiveness.

I don't understand why the 'experts' continue to cast people who are clearly not spouse ready.  Airris can just leave with his demeaning attitude towards anyone who isn't living out a porn fantasy.  I hope Jasmine leaves.  But, if she is there for social media followers, she will stay til the bitter end.

Nicole clearly stated what so many women/men feel-one can make comments about one's own looks, but nobody else better not ever even imply the same.  At least she is seemingly willing to try to work through Chris' "thick" comment whereas Gina immediately ended her relationship with Clint even though she will continue with filming because, you know, followers and exposure.

Clearly, Kirsten isn't interested in having a romantic relationship with Shaq.  The sad thing is that he knows it.  In the meantime, she appears to be coasting until D-day.  Can't help but wonder if it would have worked with Jasmine and Shaq.

Airris is a horrible individual.  He has no intentions of staying with Jasmine, so he seems to be going out of his way to make her as uncomfortable as possible.  I knew he wasn't serious about her when the very first question he asked her was, "what is your favorite sexual position?"  Who does that?  I am glad that when he starts, she ignores him.

I think Clint is into Gina, but the feeling isn't mutual.

Yes, I think so.  The prime object of any TV show is to hook viewers.  Drama and chaos will hook viewers more than a smooth sailing match-up will.  At least that's my theory.

IMO Clint showed more interest in the blond with the cap on in GIna's parlor than he's shown to GIna.  Look for a hook-up there.

Yes.  Nothing wrong with being thick.  So says Nicole, but why does Chris keep mentioning he goes for less thicker women?  I would be pissed if I was Nicole.  She seems too desparate.   She’s also buzzing around him too much and has to calm down.  She’s smothering him a little too much.  I just hope they stay together as she will make a great wife and Mother.  I have doubts about him tho.

I believe Clint and Gina could be friends with benefits. Let the conspiracy theories begin. Clint and Gina resided in the same apartment complex before the filming of the show. They both agreed to appear on MAFS but can’t let anyone know about their previous rendezvous. MAFS is a money making venture for both of them. Feel free to disagree with me, however Clint and Gina are probably laughing their butts off when the cameras aren’t rolling. The production team doesn’t stay with these couples 24/7. We rarely see these couples at their regular day jobs.

I have some thoughts on Airris's bout of covid.  When he rated Jasmine's nursing a "7 out of 10," I was done with him, and I was already close.  Also, we kept seeing shots of her coming in and covering him with blankets, etc., and neither of them were masked.  He was very contagious at that point--WTF.  Glad they're both ok now.

Yes, I think you are right. I meant after the ceremony, as in that night, whether after taking photos, or at the reception. I meant that at some point during the wedding day, brides and grooms are questioned. Remember that Dominique, when asked, couldn't remember her spouse Mac's name?

In his defense he only said it once, and it was because he knew he had said it on camera and wanted her to hear it from him first.  He probably would have been better off waiting for her to hear it and confront him - then he could have acted like he forgot he said it because she is so pleasing to him!

He's just gross.  She seems to stick up for him always, but I have never gotten where he gets his whole "my wife's SO into me but I'm not into her" schtick.  And then he verbalized how even if he didn't like her "that way" he knew she'd take great care of him if he ever came down with a disease 🙄. So I guess he was expecting a 9 or 10!  I find him creepily unattractive, and his little smirk as he describes his "orgies" makes him even more gruesome.  Agree with the previous poster who thinks he's watched too much porn and is detailing his sex life after that.  His comment that he "likes to think of" himself as very sexual was telling in more ways than one 😏

I'm not sure exactly what "thick" is supposed to mean - I think I do but terms like this always seem to have some hidden meaning that I have not grasped.  But as the opposite of thin - she is not thin.  I think she just is uncomfortable feeling heavier in a city where women are competitively thin, and I can see where she's coming from.  I wouldn't call that dysmorphia, and if she said that I think it's just hyperbole about how she feels.

Well, because in actuality women who are thick, chubby, overweight, etc, know that they are. They can't very well pretend that they are something they are not. It's tough enough being overweight, and it would be very hurtful if one's partner referred to their loved one like that. Take it from someone who is way past the thick stage for more than half of my adult life. I can call myself fat, but if my husband of 40 years referred to me like that, he'd be sleeping on the couch.

Chris is thick if he thought it was a good idea to say his wife is thicker than previous women he's dated. KKP was right about them not learning from Clint. That clip of his was from the honeymoon, but was it before or after Clint's moronic comment? & Like how Gina messed up with what she said to Clint about Gingers, Chris did too when he told Nicole what he said. Is it really that difficult for these people to say something kind??! "Not in a bad way"?!?!! STFU! Why are women the only smart ones about that?!! Chris could be called fluffy, doughy, flabby, fat, not muscular, not defined, etc... Did Nicole say ANY if that?!! NO! Not that we saw. It is unkind & unnecessary.

WTF is wrong with Airris?!?!! SERIOUSLY?!?!! Maybe he's not attracted to Jas because he thinks she isn't freaky enough. 🤔 But to say she is boring because she's loyal & has morals so has never cheated says something about his sh*tty character. To ask her if she's scared of falling in love and basically admitting he is is ridiculous. He just told her he's avoiding it to prevent being hurt again. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH HIM!!!! In their usual, superficial fashion, they didn't dig deeper & address the fear & what he's going to do to face it. It's like he tries to counter how awful he is by offering to "lighten her load" which is very nice, but it's not enough. I'm sick of him.

Ugh Shaq. I take issue with what he said at their plant shopping outing. He said he didn't know if she considered it quality time, but he did so he's good. Uh. That means he doesn't care if he doesn't bother to ask. So he's not "good." As usual, KKP didn't ask what mattered, like if Kirsten did count it as quality time, but included "viewer questions." Yeah. Sure. I didn't see that clip of Shaq from last week's preview, but it looks like it was about him answering her lame question & not answering it herself. She really got tripped up on her own words, how you gunna say there's lots he doesn't know, then say there's nothing???! GIRL! BYE! "Tell me something I don't know" is the LAMEST BS!!! That's like, "tell me about yourself." 😒😒 ASK WTF YOU WANT TO KNOW!!!! & WTF is she crying for?!! KKP definitely wasn't letting her slide with the BS. Oh she keeps things to herself & doesn't know why??? FIND OUT!!! They can say they're "working on it" all they want, but how are they working on it really? Seems like it's just words. Shaq's right to be frustrated with that BS.

I am not sure, but I think that body dysmorphia can go both ways. I think it is just seeing yourself in a way that is not congruent with reality. In my case, because of the ridiculous vanity sizing of clothes in the US, I really thought I had to be smaller than I looked when I looked in the mirror because I was wearing size small, and that I was just being critical. Then, when I started eating keto and lost 50 pounds, I had no idea how I looked because how could I be a size small and then lose 50 pounds? So I felt embarrassed for how I dressed, thinking that I was small. I am pretty sure that I am really small now and it is easier to convince myself. However, I am always comparing myself to other women - am I that heavy? Am I that short? Am I thinner than she is? It's a lifelong battle. In some ways, I think that the more current self-acceptance is good (not necessarily healthy), but I know I will never be there. But, do I want a partner to lie to me? Do I want him tell me that I look good when I am wearing something that appears too tight or too short? I think, in my case, where I truly have no idea anymore, I would appreciate honestly so I didn't go out looking not my best.

Does Nicole want Chris to tell her that she is thin? She knows she is not. Gina seems to think she is slender, but no one else does.
