My guess is on Monday we'll hear how Sunny and Ana both got false positives but are luckily covid free and won't have to be out for two weeks and the show won't have to be shut down due to others on set catching it.  Nevermind that the odds of two people getting a false positive who took the test at the exact same time and location have got to be incredibly low if not statistically impossible.  And they'll all have to go along with it or risk getting fired (and possibly blacklisted).

I doubt there was some kind of conspiracy. There have been many examples of conservative politicians coming on this show and mysteriously Joy is nowhere to be found for the interview, for example (I mean, look at Monday and Tuesday's fix for Fiorina). If Kamala didn't want Sunny or Ana in the interview, she would've just made that request to the show directly and they probably would've been absent without any need for a charade.

Oh, come on. Kamala is not afraid of Sunny, she can handle herself quite well. Surely she would not have wasted the day flying to NYC only to sit in a remote room for an interview that she could have done from DC. It’s totally on the producers for screwing up by not getting everyone tested earlier. (The rapid test is notorious for giving false results.)

It really does the more you think about it, especially when they get "negative" results less than 30 minutes later.

I know the rapid tests are fast, buy why was the test result only fast at the end of the show??

But Sunny and Ana have been very vocal about their displeasure of what is happening at the border.  If they had been absent from the interview without an explanation that would have looked fishy.

I'm sure they ramped up all safety measures for the VP. Ana confirmed that she's still waiting on results of a second PCR test, and that she and Sunny were in their dressing rooms after leaving the set.

I agree. Kamala has taken on far fiercer battles than Sunny. If anyone would be concerned about that sort of fireworks, it would be Sunny. I think it was just another ABC screwup-nothing more dramatic than that. Still, it was pretty dramatic when they were escorted off the set.

If Sunny and Ana were asked to leave because the VP didn’t want to be questioned by them, I think we’ll eventually find out through Sunny’s actions.  If nothing changes and Sunny doesn’t really react, they tested positive.  If Sunny becomes more disgruntled or leaves, it was a ruse.  I just can’t imagine Sunny not going ballistic if it was a ruse.

My guess is the Vice President's team insisted on on-site tests, and that's why the result didn't come back until they were on the air. I know someone (also vaccinated) who had a rapid test and a PCR test performed at the same time (after an exposure). The rapid test came back positive, so they went home to quarantine. Three days later, the PCR tests came back negative, but they were still told to keep quarantining and get another PCR test in a week. When that was also negative, they got to end their quarantine. I don't know what The View's policy, NYC's policy, or New York state's policy is though.

I'm not buying that. The View knew about this interview for months. 

There is no way they wouldn't have had testing procedures set up well in advance and had an agreed process with the VP teams. Even if the VP teams did insist on the tests, The View didn't find out at 9:00 am that they wanted tests! 

I'm sure they had an approved list of questions well in advance!

Joy really did handle it like a pro. I was so worried for her (I know she's vaccinated, but she's no spring chicken). 

I think the show should go back to remote until we have a better handle on Delta. I keep thinking of how sick Whoopi was a couple of years back. I wonder about the condition of her lungs overall, after that.

(And for some reason, I'm thinking Whoopi only got the J&J shot. Is that correct?)

Oh, I think the VP's people perform and process the tests. I cannot imagine them handing that responsibility over to a TV show production. Besides, I'm pretty sure The View only tests its cast and crew weekly.

I wonder if the Secret Service tests anyone who will be in close contact with the President or Vice President.  According to what I learned from the West Wing, the President's entourage includes a doctor and'or other medical professionals.  I would imagine that they screen for Covid because the health of Biden and Harris is a national security issue.

I think so. Also, based on the story from the reporter from People who was in the audience, I think it was likely Secret Service who escorted Ana and Sunny back to their seats. They likely had to get Vice President Harris out of the backstage area, before they could let Sunny and Ana walk off set.

My son took a home covid test and it came back positive. About an hour later, he had a PCR test and it was negative.  This is probably what happened.

Yes, I believe Whoopi got J&J. Ana confirmed to Anderson Cooper that she only is tested weekly before she goes into the ABC building, but then she's not there all the time. Who knows how often Whoopi, Joy, Sara and Sunny are tested?

I don't know why it bothers me so much when people call VP Harris "Kamala" but it does. Joy did it today and I cringed. I just think who would have ever called former VP Biden "Joe" or former VP Mike Pence "Mike" so casually. I was disappointed by that.

Very true. And the fact that the two false positives were from the only black & brown panel members that day...BOTH who had beefs with, and potential tough questions for the VP, is more than just a coincidence IMO. I'd like to see them prove Kamala is up for the hard questions by having her return to the show Monday (or any day next week).

Better yet, now that we know the tests were false positives, have Kamala & the current panel tape the segment in advance, and show it sometime next week. At least then everyone will get in their questions, and dispel any conspiracy theories.

Sara did push her about the border situation with the Haitians, but it was Sara being her kind of golden retriever tough, not the way Sunny would have questioned the VP.  And yes, Kamala said a lot of words but didn't say anything.  They ended up having less than 10 minutes of interview time so there was no in depth discussion.  Kamala was there to announce a new cyber initiative for low income schools.

Ana just tweeted an update. She's tested negative twice and is quarantining while she awaits the results of a third test. She specifically called out the conspiracy theorists.

She's a journalist. If she smelled a rat in yesterday's events, I can't imagine she would have done that.

We're not even sure Joy and Sara were exposed.

Watch the above statement, and her segment with Anderson Cooper -- Ana has subsequently tested negative twice (rapid and PCR tests). The People article says that after the broadcast finished, "A producer came on set to inform everyone that rapid COVID-19 tests had just come back negative for Hostin and Navarro."

Sunny has been silent on social media, and Ana wouldn't address Sunny's status during the interview with Cooper, so I'm not sure the producer's announcement was correct (or if it was, that Sunny's rapid test results were accurate).

Sunny made her feelings known a few days prior to Vice President Harris's appearance. If the VP didn't want to face Sunny (a suggestion that just makes me laugh), she would have cancelled due to a scheduling conflict or said she was postponing until Whoopi could be there, too. 

What happened yesterday didn't look planned, because everyone was flailing. You can practically see the adrenaline coursing through not only Joy, Sara, Sunny, and Ana (who, granted, would not have been in on any conspiracy), but also through the VP, when she did her segment. They all handled it like pros, but you could see even the VP was thrown. If her team orchestrated this, she would not have been.

I found Ana's statement to Cooper confusing, because first she said she's tested weekly, but then she said she's tested before she enters the building, and somewhere in there she also indicated she's been on the show a couple of times a week.

I haven't watched much in the new season. I'm still recovering from my McCainitis. Has Ana been on a couple of times a week?

Either way, Ana indicated the rest of the hosts are tested weekly. Honestly, weekly tests give a false sense of security. ABC certainly has the money to test these ladies every day. Considering Joy and Whoopi's age, Whoopi's previous pulmonary illness and weight, and the age of Sara's children, they ought to be testing them daily, or they should just remain remote. And I think it's foolish to have the audience back.

I understand the plans for this season were made before everyone understood the transmissibility of the Delta variant, even to and among the vaccinated, but it's been common knowledge, for well over a month. They need to adapt their plans.

The Vice President is also Black and brown. It's not like Alba McWhitey was going to have to face their questions.

What's more, the Vice President is also distressed by the Haiti situation. Sunny and Ana may be more rigorous interviewers than Joy, Sara, and Whoopi (okay -- they definitely are) but they are hardly the toughest political media cookies that national politicians face on the regular. They're tough for The View, but they're not all that tough, and they are not gotcha journalists.

Your second paragraph quoted above utterly ignores that Vice President Harris is the Vice President. Of the United States. Of America. She is not a low level spokesperson for the administration, or a celebrity on a book tour. She doesn't have unlimited hours to give to a daytime talkshow. Crackpot conspiracy theories spring up from the ill-intentioned and infect the gullible, every time she walks out the door. They are not going to master her life, nor should they.

Kamala's responses were fine considering the VP job is a powerless one. With the level of contempt on display, I'm sort of hoping she doesn't come back to this show any time soon. Everything she does or doesn't say will be twisted into something else anyway, just like the events themselves are being twisted, so it feels sort of pointless anyway.

Kamala isn't good at interviews.  Look back at her interview with Lester Holt and her attempts at deflection....and her acting all ditzy.

No way she could pull that on Ana and Sunny.

Sounds like the rapid tests have a higher chance of error, so I'm assuming one of the two follow up tests were with a PCR test?

At least the VP didn't have to listen to Whoopi mispronounce her name multiple times. Luckily Joy & Sara were the ones left on stage; they're the only ones who can fill time off the top of their heads. The last two times Whoopi was on she did spur of the moment long soliloquies with no point made

I wondered about how it was that Sunny and Ana were both testing positive, but no one else was, but I think that in the past they've mentioned that they do some socializing, or at least spend time talking together aside from being on camera. So it is possible if one of them had been exposed to the virus, they might have shared it with the other. Fortunately, it seems that these were false positive detections, but it goes to show how easy it might be for a vaccinated person to still get COVID.

I also realize she has things to do, people to see and places to go, BUT she was there for over half an hour while producers (or secret service) screwed around with how she was going to make her appearance. I assume they figured out she was going "remote" long before it happened, so why not allow Sunny & Ana to also be remote???

Alternately, I'm sure Kamala could have spared another 10 minutes to tape her segment. It happens all the time on the View, but apparently that was overlooked. I'm sure another 10 minutes wouldn't have broken her busy schedule.

I believe that happens to most politicians, especially over the last 4-5 years as our country became more & more divided. And let's face it, nothing we discuss here is going to change what is. Sadly, it's all we have...good, bad or indifferent 😞
