Also, followed closely behind with, "Tote a baby."  Geesh.

i cringe every time she says 'tote'!!!!  i love real totes and can not pass one up.  i even make quilted ones.  and now i just picture angie....ugh!!!!!!!

For him to get to Karine there he'd have to fly to Brazil and take a 4-day cruise up the Amazon to a town in which Karine's father worked in law enforcement. My guess is that someone would be calling Father Karine before that boat got very far down the river and that Paul would be met by a welcoming committee when it docked. IMO her chances at safety are far greater there than they are here.

From your fingertips to God's ears!

Good catch.  My annoyance at all things Angela can cloud my judgement.

I hear ya. But "give credit where credit is due" and all that nonsense 😉

But Angela only annoys you? Ha! I can't stand her. I admire your...fortitude? Or do you fast forward through all her scenes? Coz that's cheating...😅

Maybe post-pandemic he can tear tickets at the movie theater.

Nope.  That would require interacting with people.  Maybe he get could a job cleaning up the theater after hours.  When everyone else is gone.  You know, scraping the used chewing gum from the floor & the bottom of the seats, picking up used cups, and mopping the floors.

I checked, there is one picture on her Instagram of Oliver in cargo pants. I almost posted a comment. But yeah, every other picture of both children shows them in pjs or other unstructured clothing - not a button or zipper to be seen.

It would be different if someone in pole's family (or close friend) had a business and was willing to employ him.  However, I don't see that as being the case.

Apparently he used to work for his dad’s company.  Sometimes he wears a polo shirt with the company name.  It’s his surname and then something generic like Fabricating.

Around here we've used "tote" like Angela since before I was born. (We also use "carry" to mean "drive" like, "I carried Mom to the store for eggs.") But now I'll forevermore associate it with Angela so I'm gonna have to delete it from my vocabulary unless I'm referring to a bag.

Upon giving this matter some thought, I'm surprised that the producers on the show (legal dept) didn't do a criminal background check on pole immediately after he applied to appear on the show.  I'm not clear on why they would select him for the show without knowing his circumstances.

That his criminal past was not revealed to Karine makes things worse and she should discuss that fact with an attorney.  TLC dropped the ball on this one!!

So, I am convinced I heard Angela say "He has a lot of nerve looking at those women when he ain't (bleeped) me but once." Why is no one talking about this? Did I misunderstand or hear it wrong?

Also regarding Paul, I think he is taking Karine to the waste treatment plant to show her what the only job he can get in America looks like. He wants some sympathy and to make Karine feel guilty for demanding he get a job. What a loser.

Paul would be doing GREAT to get a job at a waste treatment plant.  I bet that job pays decent, doesn't involve having to work with people and has some bomb ass benefits.

Maybe things have changed lately, but back in the day those types of jobs were highly sought after because the wages were decent, there were good benefits, and the job security of knowing that no one else really wanted the job.  It was a great job to get without needing an advanced degree of any sort.

Absolutely 100% agree with your assessment of Kalani.

And regarding the dick pics; also agree. I got into a very heated debate online with a guy who insisted women are not turned on visually because there's not much of a market for magazines for women with photos of men's genitalia.

I told him women are definitely visually stimulated; but what most women are stimulated by - butts, abs, chests, and arms - are body parts we can see at any pool or beach.

Unlike men, women don't have to pay to see what we're attracted to.

And then I twisted the knife and asked "Do you really think the dangley bits are attractive? LOL! It's what you do with it that counts!"

IDK what kind of phone you have, but there may be a bra alternative for "toting" it without a purse. I have one of these (except mine is black):Screenshot_20200831-160121.png.036711e91d84120243a09e49d73e402a.pngScreenshot_20200831-160019.thumb.png.263889ecfe3cb44e3486d0e724af8a04.png

The wristlet approximately the same length/width as my phone. It comes with a detachable wrist strap, has slots for CC's and ID and a zipper pocket for a few bills and coins. It also comes with a case for the phone that's magnetized and attaches the phone to the wristlet.

I've dropped my phone multiple times with just the magnetized case on it and the phone hasn't been damaged, and I've also dropped the wristlet with the phone in it and the magnet has held the phone in the purse.

Perhaps something like it, if there is one available for your model phone, might work?

My boobies aren't big enough to require a bra that will accommodate my phone, and the wristlet was less expensive than a visit to Dr. Smith. 😉

LOL @ dick pics.

As I tell men, unless it belongs in a porn or a medical journal....your penis is not that interesting.

What the hell is WRONG with Libby’s family?  What are they hoping to hear about Andrei?  Why would they expect a lifelong friend of Andrei’s to go behind his back and reveal his past to people that he just met?  They are so awful. And they just WILL NOT let it go. A normal person would back off if they saw that they were making someone visibly uncomfortable.  But not this family. No, they continue to interrogate the guy like he has some kind of obligation to tell them anything.  It’s pretty obvious that they are only asking so that they can use whatever information that they gather against Andrei. And worse, they immediately jump to conclusions when they don’t hear what they want to hear.  They know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the politics or legal system of this country but they know for a fact that Andrei must have done “something terrible” if he had to leave the country.

This show has me so pissed right now that I don’t think I’ll be watching anymore. Angela, Asuelo, Paul, Colt - ugh... I don’t need to be this worked up over a stupid reality show.  I get enough of that watching the news.

Over the weekend, I read an article about Libby's family. In 2004, her father Chuck was arrested for being almost $18,000 behind in child support payments. He's currently being sued by multiple people for being a slum lord. Her brother,  Charlie was arrested for dui and cocaine possession. And her sisters have both been arrested for driving on a suspended license and failure to register their cars. They are all trash and watching them act holier than you after reading that made me really sick.

Exactly. And in the current state of everything in this world, it was especially infuriating to me to listen to her, with her fake con-artist smile and batting her eyes, insist she "needed" plastic surgery, how awful and "fat" her nose was, and Erickee's phony comments about "if it makes her feel good about herself and she's doing it for the right reasons" [insert exaggerated hand motions here].  There are people who are without jobs, the country is in turmoil, and you have children you have basically dumped on others and you are acting like getting your boobs enhanced and your "horrendous" nose shaved down are necessities? Please, take a seat. Hopefully on a seat in a plane headed to Brazil.

So Larissa,..  bigee boobees, contoured nose, a lipo-sucked tummee 'n thighs will instill in you the confidence that was lost after "toting babies?" It's so sad that a hug and a kiss from your kids seems to have dropped to the bottom of the list of what truly 'makes you feel good.'  (But, that said, who am I to make any assumptions on what your real life is beyond this fanciful, illusory reality plot-line.) ☹️

I hate this family more than I hate Angela and that’s a whole lotta hate. They’re barely a step up from scum of the earth. I’m not at all surprised the whole classless crew are criminals and/or scoff-laws.  Someone should have tipped off André. It would have been a nice little bomb to drop when they were interrogating him at the restaurant.  I’m sorry André’s gracious family had to put up with their ill-mannered entitled behavior.

Andre has no source of income in the States except for the income chuck provides to his daughter to pay their bills.  It would be incumbent upon Andre not to further exacerbate the family dynamics by bringing up the dicey criminal past of Libby's family.  If, and when, Andre establishes himself with a good, steady job and doesn't need Chuck's financial supplemental to meet his basic expenses it will be a different story.  I don't see Andre as being "shy".

Part of the whole "Andrei not working" storyline is TLC frauding us. When it comes to work and professions they've been cagey with us since S1. Some castmembers have had regular, ordinary jobs that the show has completely left out in favor of the part-time stuff that sounds weirder or more interesting. In Brittany terms, they're not really lying, they're just not sharing the whole truth.

I hope the next episode features Andrei's confession, that he worked in a torture chamber for religious minority re-education. "My job was burning the feet of children, but that was only after I got promoted from body disposal. Plus side I'm good with a bone saw and know how what household compounds to use to get a body to dissolve beyond identifiability. So now what?"

That's what I hope he does.

Per Kalani's kids being in pj's all the time:  There is a FB group where people are really defending her:  "Are you all so perfect?  Must be nice!"  I don't respond but I wanna say, "Well, no, I am hardly perfect, but yes, when my kids (both boys, close together just like her) were little, yes, yes I did dress them every day, ESPECIALLY if we were going out.  Hair combed, teeth brushed, clean faces, yes.  Yes I did!"

Libby's family is too stupid to pick up on the story Andre's friend (brother?) was telling them about why they left Moldova. And they're so determined to find out that that the truth is something terrible they can hold over Andre's head.

The guy was basically telling them "We were in the police here and the Moldovan police are notoriously corrupt. We didn't want to do some of the things we were being forced to do, so we left. Can you please read between the fucking lines here so I don't have to spell it all out here in front of a TV camera and put my life at risk here in Moldova?"

The family replies with, "I don't know..... sounds like you're saying Andre had to leave for some reason. Why? Why? Tell us why!"

A bunch of trashy idiots. Though I suspect this whole interrogation storyline is just something the producers came up with, or they agreed when the family suggested it. All the Moldovans they're interrogating may not know that.

I can picture Andreeii going along with low level corruption, such as fixing a traffic ticket, but not wanting to be involved in something serious, such as drug dealing. I can also see it being better for his health to leave Moldova under those circumstances.

This is almost exactly what we're going to learn: Andrei's a reluctant hero and the family all comes back to gether again and have a new found respect for him. That's why I want him to just reveal he was some sort of stormtrooping enforcer whose job was to ferret out and publicly beat gay men and women to the horror of a crowd. PLOT TWIST.

Yes, the preview of Karine talking to the attorney was sad.    However, if she manages to flee to Brazil, I don't see anything happening to her for custody, unless she comes back to the U.S. at some point.  The authorities in Brazil haven't been very sympathetic to custody orders for U.S. dual citizenship children, with U.S. parents.

She'll never get child support out of Pole anyway, since he's only surviving on TLC money.    I suspect a lo of her depression issues, and unhappiness with her life her stem from Pole's constant harassment, and monitoring of her every move, and claiming she's cheating on him.    I'm really worried for her, and Pierrey, and hope they stay safe, and away from Pole.

I get it, but on the flip side, what does she actually bring to the table? She's always telling him to shut up. She's never nice to him. We never see her talk to him like a woman who loves and cares about her husband. Always turning her back to him. Always ragging on him to get a job - which, yes, he should do - but what about her? I realize it would be difficult to get a job here with the language barrier, but I'm sure she could find something. Or use the time she spends sitting on her butt and her phone to learn English. Even when they were in Brazil, she never seemed to have a job and their house was always a disgusting mess. And the thing that would really drive me crazy is that she's always on her phone. I hate siding with Paul on anything, but I'd be bothered too if my husband was always cold to me, telling me to shut up, and on the phone, talking with other women who were "helping" him and "just friends" and ignoring me or telling me to fuck off - yeah, I'd be questioning whether or not he was cheating. Actually, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be married to him anymore.

While I totally agree with you that Karine is, and always has been, a garbage person, she hasn't been lying about their life possibilities, and she doesn't have a worrying criminal history.

Why does Pole keep going on and on about greater opportunities in America, when he can't even get a shitty, entry level job?

Full disclosure:  I'm in my late 50's, and I've had plastic surgery from different doctors.  I have never had one single comment similar to what was mentioned by this doctor.  Not even remotely.  I've been talked out of more than I've done.  I think the duck lips look horrendous, as do the frozen-faced fillers.  But at one point I wanted an eyebrow lift (talked out of it), a lower face lift (talked out of it....for now), and a few other things.  I did have a nose job, among other things, but I wanted the most natural, almost-the-same-as-what-nature-gave-me, and that's what I got.

So these good doctors have performed minimal surgeries on me with very nice, natural-looking results.  This guy that Larissa is going to should get his license suspended.

I had the same experience (early 40s and some mild fillers/botox, am not in the least opposed to cosmetic surgery in any way); my doctor actively talked me out of a nose job, because my nose is a bit large but it's a good shape, and he thought it would be too easy to botch or render me unrecognizable. I also have very large eyes in a very oval face, so a smaller nose would probably make my eyes look *too* big.

BUT(ee) on the other hand, he is a dermatologist and not a cosmetic surgeon, so he doesn't do nose jobs himself. Maybe the conversation would've gone the other way if he did. But I do trust him because he won't do the comically oversized duck lips and talked me down from augmenting both cheekbones into just a minor correction on one.

I think Larissa is just going to a cut-rate cheapiee doctor and is getting what she (or Ericee) pays for. I mean, he himself looks like he's had a bit too much Juvederm lately.

I think she should do whatever she wants with her body; as I mentioned, I am not opposed to modifications of any kind, but it's clear from the show and from her own social media accounts that she has some mental health issues, which may include body dysmorphia. I hope she is addressing that, regardless of whether she gets the surgery she wants in the end.

OK, so are you disputing the fact that Andre has been shown to be very dismissive and/or hostile to ANY job opportunity offered to him by Chuck AND has repeatedly reneged (if memory serves me correctly) on going ahead with a truck driver career (I specifically recall him blowing off that idea as if it was "beneath him.")

Also, his caring for Eleanor is filmed as well as his other at-home activities while Libby "brings home the bacon" compliments to whatever her dad pays her.

If anyone has any info to the contrary, I'd be glad to hear about it.

I'm always very sensitive to men not pulling their weight financially and depending on parents/in-laws to pull the financial weight for the family as my daughter is married to someone of that ilk and I'm impacted by it each and every day!!

Well, this is an episode thread so we're limited to discussing the stuff that's seen during the episode.

it's a TV show.

But, generally, yes. This show is well-known for limiting information when it comes to the cast's employment, as well as their living situations. At the end of the day, this is all for entertainment. It's not a documentary. Some of these people don't even live in the actual houses they're showing. Reality TV takes parts of people's lives and magnifies them and embellishes where needed. Lots of things are reenacted. Libby has been a bit-part actress for years, and many of us here have speculated on her family's desire for a spin-off. Only the drama-filled families get that far. To continue filming they need to fight and bring on the bullshit. However, their Pillow Talk appearances and off-show appearances show a completely different relationship dynamic than what we're seeing on this franchise.

Now why people would go along with this for the sake of entertainment is a whole other conversation. Like Mother Aseulu. She may be full of shit and just doing this for the show (and her appearance fee) but the fact that anyone would pretend that they don't care about their grandkids still says a lot about them.

Family Libby may be playing up the Ugly American persona, and they may get along fine IRL, but you couldn't pay me enough to act like that.

So whether it's true or not, it's still telling.

If one compares how any of the couples behave on Pillow Talk to how they are portrayed on the show, it’s clear that TLC is playing its audience. It’s also telling which couples have not been on Pillow Talk.

Like totally different people. Sometimes it makes me mad, like do they really think we're that dumb?

TLC has a formula, too:

Foreign spouse won't work, one person has a big secret, foreigner wants to send money home, in-laws don't get along...

There's a reason we play 90 Day BINGO! 😀

I do feel like truth slips through from time to time, though. Kalani looked genuinely upset, Pole's unsettling freakouts, Syngin really appeared intoxicated after his job interview, etc.

This.  I think Andrei knows all about Chuck and Charlie's criminal history, but he doesn't want to be kicked off the gravy train so he stays quiet.

It probably seems cheaper to have your father in law pay for everything, but I think its far more expensive.

I wouldn't trust paul independently caring for Pierre on a daily basis while Karine went to work.  Hard stop.  That guy ran into a chicken coop after a fight and threatened to jump into a river of shit.  Karine may be having a hard time handling the stress of motherhood, but I don't feel uncomfortable with her caring for Pierre alone.

And Paul mooning around at home while Karine pays for childcare would be a nonstarter for me.  It would probably eat up whatever little paycheck she got.

From what I remember Paul and Karine never liked each other and she always thought he was weird.  I don't understand why Karine agreed to have sex with Paul, much less a child.  When they met, she was in her early 20s and had a great body, she had plenty of time to hook a better guy if she wanted to move to a bigger city.

I'm not interested in Larissa, her make-believe relationship with George Glass Eric

LOL!

Jeez, Kalani and Asuelu, BREAK UP ALREADY. You are obviously miserable together. Therapy is not going to fix it.

I remain concerned that Oliver, while adorable, is behind developmentally. Walking is the only behavior we see from him and not from his baby brother. They are more than a year apart. I don't attribute this to the extended breastfeeding, but I just don't see the differences between the kids that should be there.
