Also you should realize that the DCC are not employees unlike the players you cited. They're independent contractors, and the worker rules do not apply to them. If I'm Kelli, I want to keep the 36 strongest girls -- physically and mentally. If they wanted to be charitable, they would not have cut Brennan but instead given her a chance to heal. That's not how this situation works. There are 36 spots, and I would be bitter AF if I got cut and then a spot was held for someone who was not mentally ready to be on the field when I was. There's a chance she may not have been ready all season, and that would mean the cut would be for nothing. The real lesson here is life isn't always fair. Hannah (and Brennan as well) learned this in training camp. Brennan didn't go out and bad mouth the organization after though. Hannah did. That was not professional, and looked like she was pitching a fit the same way my 10 year old niece does when I won't buy her Roblox Dollars. That's not a good look for her. There have been several times they gave leniency to vets far worse situations than Hannah. What has been said across this whole board and what Hannah has said that the producers were made to look like she was terrible. I didn’t really see this episode but the only scenes they’ve shown Hannah mess up was the Evan Miller dance in two episodes which is the one stated that the vets only had learned less than 24 hours she also wasn’t the only vet with problems on that dance and it was also stated by someone on the inside that Savannah forgot a dance and decided not to dance the rest of the day which to me sounds far more unprepared than Hannah but Kelli and Judy never pointed them out and it wasn’t on the show. I made sure to look at Hannah whenever her group danced and she was never complimented or showed when she did right which was 95% of the time. I feel like the producers made Hannah’s mistakes worse than what they were which Hannah said would happen long before the showed aired. She clearly knows from times before how they twisted storylines to fit their narrative. There are more sound bites on this season than ever which are done after they stopped training camp. 30 Link to comment

There are a lot of things I don’t like about this take, but I’ll stick with this: this goes beyond a child pouting because they didn’t get something they wanted. This is a woman who had something she was clearly very qualified for taken away because she could not perform perfectly at the time due to her illness. This take not only infantilizes Hannah, infantilizes women for having feelings at all, but punishes her for speaking about about how reality tv commodifies the pain and suffering of women. The hypocrisy displayed by the team behind MTT shows how openness about mental health, especially by women, is only valued when it gives a company altruism brownie points -- that's the whole idea behind My Cause My Boots. When women actually begin to show the effects of their illness, they are punished, and yet their presence in the organization in the first place is lauded as some sort of gold star. God forbid Hannah actually try to make this fact clear, knowing that people will either not understand or willfully miss the point and attack her. And trust me, I understand how the dance industry works. I get how television and performance work. But using “this is the way it is” as an excuse is not good enough. Sure, this is the way it is. Is it right? Is it just? Do we continue to demand perfection and still capitalize on the idea of tearing women down? This season of MTT has exploited Hannah's illness for #ratings and yet she was released from the team when her illness manifested. If we can’t step back and be critical of how the industry works, we will continue to see the same exploitation. But that’s okay because it’s just the way it is, right? Id like to also add that Kelli is always talking about how they expect them to be more than just dancers which is why they do panel interviews, media day, asks them to give explanations for the “my cause my boots” and loves to add what the cheerleaders do outside of DCC; what they did to Hannah also contradicts those ideals Kelli has for DCC. 28 Link to comment

I agree with that as well. Caroline had beautiful lines, beautiful technique...and enough confidence in her position to not pull in a ton of tricks we've seen her do before. And that's just fine, and I'm sure Judy loved it, but I would much rather watch a showy, fun solo. Maybe I'm emotionally dead inside, but while I can appreciate the technique, I rarely enjoy watching lyrical/contemporary pieces. Here, SYTYCD, anywhere. Give me hip hop, jazz, power pom, whatever. Brennan looked fantastic, and I snickered at Brianna's comment under the posting: "I am available for hire for all videography and commentary needs. Hit the DM to book." As someone who suffers from anxiety disorder and has had diagnosed severe depression, the best healer is doing something that I enjoy (for me, riding horses and gardening), for Hannah, it is dance. The chance to "get out of your own head" is what many doctors and psychologists recommend, along with exercise. She turned up for practices and was performing better than several gals who made it onto the team. My guess is that one or more of TPTB know next to nothing about depression and the term "mental illness" frightens them. Perhaps they falsely believe she will suddenly go berserk on the deck and will have to be tranquilized and straight-jacketed out of the stadium. There is nothing that indicates that she would be ANY kind of liability at a game. If you say you are supportive of those with depression, then show it. Talk the talk, walk the walk! You have experts on everything in the Cowboys organization. Meet with an expert to educate yourself about depression or whatever mental illness you may run across with the gals who audition. If you care about these ladies, be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Popular Post Tuxcat January 6, 2021 Popular Post Share January 6, 2021 (edited) I fully believe that as s show group veteran she didn't just suddenly become 'not good enough.' They aired only a few "not looking herself moments" - all were with the one funky Evan Miller piece. Slow down those moments and you notice so many of the girls actually messing it up. They had just learned that dance. A few times zoomed in - it was Kat messing up next to her but the show said it was Hannah. Was she stressed? yes. Did her mental health get taxed? Of course! Can a global pandemic be devastating for someone with anxiety and depression? YES! But her stress was born from compassion and empathy for others safety as well. And her "disinterested" stance was likely from her 'interest' in safety. She was following protocols while others were completely abandoning them. Even with all of this - SHE STILL DID Her JOB She was given three show group stickers so she clearly wasn't awful. In every "board" that's been shown except the very first she has been ABOVE the top 36 line. Are you telling me her cut came down to a dance off in which Hannah, a three year vet, a show group vet (who appeared to be strong in this episode at least) - justifies this cut? A cut that occurred in one short week - during a global pandemic - during the Texas surge - in unsafe conditions for the purposes of making a TV show? No, because even if she was less than herself - even if that is true - you give the benefit of the doubt here to the vets. Always. They've proven themselves able to perform! The rookies still on the line (which should include Sydney in my opinion) still need "teaching" (according to Judy), still need practice, still need time - They can come back next year. They aren't as invested in this process. The benefit of the doubt should go to the vets. But that didn't happen because the FIX is in! They knew well before camp started who they'd cut. The show is USING the angle "she's mentally weak" -- which of course IS NOT THE CASE and a disservice to women who suffer, and to those who persevere. Hannah said she's proof that with the right tools, resiliency is possible. Edited January 6, 2021 by Tuxcat 43 Link to comment

So does not only does this incredible woman suffer from mental illness, but she’s served as a beacon of light and HOPE to others who also suffer from mental illness, despite the stigma—which is ALIVE AND WELL. Additionally, her mom is on the front lines fighting Covid. So she gets to worry about her mother on a daily basis, her dancing (which is superb), all while attending school full-time, and dancing in an unsafe (physically, mentally, and emotionally) environment. As a woman with mental illness herself, I am absolutely at my breaking point and have been since June. The amount of medication I’m taking almost scares me. Yes I have a psychiatrist and yes I have a therapist— I meet with them twice a week. I recently lost my grandfather to Covid. It was difficult, but he was old and had health problems and we could see it coming. If I lost a parent? One of the few people on the planet who truly understands me, my fight, my plight, my heart, and loves me unconditionally? I would be over. Done. I hate them for this. I really do. I’ve watched from the beginning but not this season, and never again. This is so gross. And the gaslighting and verbal abuse? Intolerable. I am incensed by the Hannah portrayal. I know how these things work, I’ve danced on a world-class team, and I’ve had more than six friends go on to be professionals on dancing with the stars. I’ve also had two friends make top five on so you think you can dance. I get the dance world. I lived in the dance world. I understand the ugly below the surface crap that takes place. But in much the same way someone had to stand up and say enough with the Me Too (RIP Taylor) movement, this has to stop. They’ve been given a national stage with a varied audience. Use it or lose it. A couple of things to note: Alanna is always at the top probably because she is first in alphabetical order, there were 2 boards shown in episode 5 hence two headings for episode 5, everyone below the red line is "not top 36", cells in green means they have moved up from their previous position, cells in light red means they have moved down from their previous positions and if they are white it means they have not changed. If the text is red that is the episode they get cut and the the number next to it is the order of the cuts. 11 4 Link to comment

Let's stop punishing women for standing up for themselves, please. Absolutely agree with all of this! They’ve known Hannah for two seasons now and know what she’s capable of. I think some leniency could be given when they know she’s a talented vet, has struggled with mental health issues but still showed up to training camp. IMO, most of the girls seem pick to causes that don’t carry a stigma. Kelli saying she liked her answer during media day seemed disingenuous. If Hannah ever writes a tell-all, I’d be happy to buy it. 32 Link to comment

Judy last night told Kelli she really liked Tori but as usual Judy's opinion never counts, that is why she never speaks. It is a waste of her energy. I have never thought Brennan was pretty but she looked beautiful when she was in the office, love her new hair extensions. She is just as good of a dancer as Cici plus she will never have the weight problems Cici has so why was she called in? What was Lisa wearing and why would she wear that? She is so weird. Clearly people disagree; my opinion doesn't make it so. Judy says Lily is "ugly." Clearly people disagree; her opinion doesn't make it so. And while Judy may have found her unattractive...ugly?? Come on. When ever I’m going through the DCC’s instas, Lily’s is the ONLY one that never fails to make me smile. Her mood even via pictures is just infectious and while she may not be “DCC sexy” she’s got the cute girl next door look down pat and clearly seems more relatable than many of the other DCCs. They seriously did her, along with the other girls, dirty. 35 Link to comment

Popular Post bunny January 6, 2021 Popular Post Share January 6, 2021 Honestly the DCC organization is psychotic 😂 I will never forget how Kelli got some preacher in to training camp right after poor Shaina lost a bunch of her friends in an accident, and there was this big thing where everyone was sharing stories of loss and grief and whatnot, which like, okay, fine. BUT Shaina didn’t say anything during it, completely understandably, and then went up to Kelli afterwards to explain that her grief was too new to participate but thank you for doing it etc etc. And maybe she really did feel that way, I dunno, but I have just never gotten over the fact that she felt like she had to go up to Kelli and explain herself when she didn’t owe an explanation to ANYONE nor was she obligated to thank Kelli at all. That scene has always read so weird to me, with poor Shaina looking like she’s under so much pressure and Kelli looking at her in this super cold, blank way. I’m sure the DCC org thought it made them look great and caring, but the way that it was shown totally jives with how toxic I picture the culture of the DCC org to be. Anyway, Hannah is amazing as always! 52 Link to comment
PicnicLife77 January 6, 2021 Share January 6, 2021 What are everyone's hypotheses as to why Tori gets cut? I'm starting to see it with Ashlinn, but they've given no indications with Tori whatsoever. 3 Link to comment

In the last episode Kelly commented on her poor fan kick and her awkward answer to the Brett Kavanaugh question. Also, I don't remember who but I believe some insiders said Tori's SG solo was pretty bad. I feel like if she fixes those 3 things next year she's a lock for the team. And from the dance classes she posts on Instagram, maybe even show group? I'm not a dancer but I enjoy watching her dance 7 Link to comment
