Their point is that the clip will be aired over and over without any context for the next 9 months and voters will be turned off.

This. This is why I think Joy, Sunny and Whoopi looked terrified imo. Meghan is relishing in it. All of this stuff and more will be blasted across the airwaves by Republicans. There will be no context. I’m already seeing ads here in GA. This is just the beginning.

It doesn't matter who the nominee is, they were going to attack based on the person's weakness.

I know, but all I’m saying is they’re going to take Bernie’s comments about Fidel Castro without context and run with it in their ads. Any further discussion about this would be off-topic though so I’m gonna stop there.

Trust me Joy was definitely not a Bernie supporter, she adored St Hillary, almost as much as she adores Uncle Joe.

From my memory, Joy always liked Bernie on a personal level. It's more that she was pragmatic and didn't believe he could win. Clearly she still feels that way based on these past two weeks.

They really need that fifth panelists. Someone whose not gonna be as predictable on the issues. Someone who can lighten the mood but is also intellectual and puts things in perspective. A Sara/Abby/Jed/Paula combo.

this foursome is just...a downer.

There's no lightening up a show where McCain is present... Sara tried. Abby tried. Hell, Joy, Sunny, and Whoopi all tried, too. They didn't hate her from the get-go like Messy hated them. I don't think Ana tried as hard as the others simply considering McCain was hateful to her almost from her first day guesting on the show.

That’s not weird at all.

Right? McCain used to tout him all the time before the primary officially began. She would do it in the same breath that she would paint the whole party as socialists. She'll love going back to that.

As for a new "progressive," I personally like Joy and Sunny just fine. And Whoopi's been better lately than she has in the past. She was the best one on the panel today and during the AOC interview last week.

But Joy understood that he said that the literacy programs were good, even though it was a dictatorship.

The ladies have praised horrible people numerous times, some who I consider war criminals so I find it odd that if Bernie does something that someone they like did they'll bash him. The double standard sticks out.

Just to showcase the double standard I found this on YouTube...it's from a Conservative page and it was meant to paint Whoopi and Joy in a negative light, but the video is unaltered so I think it's okay. In the video, Obama praised certain things about Castro when he died and while Sunny remains consistent in her views, Joy and Whoopi sang a different tune.

Joy even said that Cuba was nice, which is a change from what we heard today.

I think it's fine if the ladies don't like Bernie, but their double standard is making them look hypocritical more often than not.

Here in Canada, Kevin tried to run to be the leader of the Conservative Party. He wasn't doing too hot in Quebec, so he dropped out with a two million debt. Then tried to sue Elections Canada who wouldn't allow him to pay it back with his own money...basically, he spent more than he got in donations then complained about the rules here. After he dropped out, he backed a fringe candidate to lead the party, only no one wanted him too. That person ended up creating his own party, only for it to flop tremendously in our last election.

So when Sunny asked them the Bloomberg question, I found it funny considering how Kevin tried something similar to that here in Canada and it failed miserably.

I had no opinion about Kevin until his wife killed two people driving "their" boat in Muskoka, Ontario.  I have my suspicions, but she was cleared, so ...

I don't believe Joy and Sunny are progressives.  Whoopie was just shilling talking points that the right has pushed against AOC,  it is why she was mocked by progressives. Whoopie did not do her research to find out exactly what AOC said and in what context, she just made an assumption that the right wanted her and others to believe.. Disinformation is so easy to put out there to those who are susceptible to it..

I would bet that Ana and Meghan interacted in the past, since Ana worked on Sen. McCain's presidential campaign in 2008.  She might've already known that Meghan is a lost cause.

Who was it that MeAgain said she hated repeatedly during the Shark people segment?  I can't remember who it was but it was quite rude and even Whoopi looked shocked.

ETA:  I found it, it was Tom Steyer.  She also hates his ties.

https://thehill.com/homenews/media/484554-meghan-mccain-says-steyer-should-drop-out-i-hate-that-guy

It’s going to be so awkward if Steyer ever goes on the show again. I also thought it was extremely unprofessional to say that about a former guest who, while maybe unlikeable, Is no where near as controversial or even unpleasant as others they’ve had on in all these years. I mean she had less vitriol for don jr!!

It won't matter. She's trash talked other people and when those people show up, she's a two-faced, hypocritical ingratiating arsehole; as if she never uttered those words.

Meghan was incredibly rude to Steyer, I think because he wasn't subservient towards her.  At one point during her hostile questioning of him she said, "Mr. Steyer" in a snooty way, and he said, "Yes, Meghan" and wasn't about to be intimidated by her, no matter how much she glared at him.

For all she's said against Bloomberg since, she even told Steyer that Bloomberg was a better choice for president than he was.

Meghan should count herself among those who have said "nothing of any significance".

Why was Whoopie saying, in a somewhat threatening tone, that Warren needs to be careful?  I'd love to know what she was implying.

When they were discussing coronavirus, Meghan thinks it's relevant to mention the movies Contagion and Outbreak?  And then she turns into Miss Priss and doesn't think, since people are dying, that the issue should be politicized?  Who the heck does she think is in charge of managing this kind of a problem?

And then Whoopie says since the government doesn't know what they're doing, it's up to us "not to panic" and "figure out what to do".  This show is less than worthless in these types of situations.

smh.  Rahm was wonderful mayor, I miss him tremendously.  He got two presidents elected, he has a clue on this game works.

I love when they do this Motown stuff.  I assume Whoopie was about to announce that the audience was getting tickets to something when they abruptly cut to an ad.  They can hold going to ads when Meg is screaming some bullshit thing but they had to cut the Motown segment.

Megan really hates Steyer and I don't know why. Steyer should not be running but I don't think he is the devil..

I find it sickening that Whoopie is so nasty towards other women like Warren who hold men accountable for their behavior.  I did not care for her warning Elizabeth to be careful in that tone of voice.

I would have been fine if the show had only had Motown for the hour as a respite from politics..

Ah, but isn't this THE MOST IMPORTANT POLITICAL SHOW IN AMERICA according to some idiot (who clearly has never watched the show) at The New York Times? They couldn't possibly take a day off from being so important!  I don't think I could make it through Tuesday without Whoopi's sage wisdom.   🙄

A word about commenting on people’s weight...the point the mental health professionals are trying to make is that commenting on someone’s weight/ looks has consequences.  Individuals suffering from eating disorders will often cite having been given attention for losing weight. The brain gets triggered by weight loss/ comments regarding weight loss.
The message lost is that we all need to move away from the idea of commenting on people’s looks. Kindness and Grace towards others.
By the way...our society makes a value judgement when it comes to weight loss.

It was what Joy said right after, which was that Bloomberg could've turned around and raked her over the coals for the DNA controversy, but he's chosen not to do that. Whoopi agreed when Joy said this right after, so I'm assuming that is what she was referring to. And I agree with them, the woman is a hypocrite. I also agreed with McCain that the fact that Warren attacked everyone but Bernie shows she's only there for a VP position at this point.

I had to back it up to play again because I couldn’t believe MeeAgain said to Whoopi after her profound statement that “ every time someone says they say what they think it’s going to be to not take it to heart no one knows what’s going to happen”  Megan said you are the the only one who says that to your credit, I do that all the time. WTF.  She continuously announces what’s going to happen under no uncertain terms and she going to enjoy coming back and reminding Joy etc.  She said no one should buy their way in—— really? I thought she’s been in politics since she was in the womb.

Between Whoopi reading the stage directions on the prompter out loud (“toss to clip”) during the Simone Biles segment to her saying, “....until you go into the ballot box...”, I know how I’ll be trying to improve my life during Lent.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph. How does she still have a job? I’ve never seen such an experienced performer screw up as much as she does. The second hand embarrassment is real.

While it was a total free-for-all during the debate last night, MM criticizing Norah O’Donnell and Gayle King for not having a better grip as moderators last night was rich. Pot, meet the kettle.

Her suggestion that a male newscaster (who was in the wings over at CBS) would have been a better moderator is evidence that she didn’t watch the whole debate because the panel did consist of two men at some point and it was still just as chaotic. As discussed last week, I think it’s also a subconscious nod to her possible propensity to defer and/or respect men more than women.

Lastly, more proof that the wardrobe dept. hates MM: the buttons on MM’s jacket today were not flattering at all.

Your entire post was spot-on.  I caught these two eye-brow-raising Whoopie moments as well, and wondered if they were senior moments, or if she just doesn't feel like even pretending to try any more.

I think she did it to not alienate Bernie's supporters. I could say more but it would be off-topic. Bloomberg deserves every attack leveled by Warren.  His sexism should not be dismissed. I can't believe how the panel with the exception of Megan are excusing Bloomberg just to win an election..

I don't think they've excused Bloomberg at all? I think the general sentiment they've expressed is that all the candidates have issues. Sunny has said previously that she's not enthusiastic about any of them. And they were right to point out that Warren isn't some kind of pure as the driven snow saint herself when she pretended to be a minority to put herself through college (that's what the whole DNA controversy was).

Btw, I meant to say earlier that I was glad Sunny--that anyone, really--finally broke down McCain's talking point of Steyer and Bloomberg trying to "buy an election." Using your own money instead of someone else's to fund your campaign isn't buying an election. Paying people to vote for you would be buying an election.

To me, the buttons were the least objectionable thing on that outfit.  It looked like an old TV test pattern on my screen!

I also thought Meghan was extremely disrespectful to the audience person who's phone went off.  They all sorted quietly said "phone", but Meghan was loud and rude about it, and said "It's annoying - sorry"....I was waiting for her to continue and say "not sorry" after "sorry" - something that I really HATE when I hear people say it!

I know the audience is supposed to silence their phones, but mistakes happen - no reason to be rude and disrespectful.

I think Joy's motivation on this show has always been about convincing viewers over to doing what she sees as the right thing. She said that Trump was the main reason she re-joined the show in 2015 when it was capsizing in viewers and they were begging her to come back. Her statements on Monday make it seem to me that she realizes Bernie is going to be a hard-sell for her to make to viewers and would rather it not come to that. I can see McCain "winning" most of their arguments for the next year and that's not going to be pleasant for me as a viewer who only tunes in for Joy to watch her going through that. And, just speaking about myself personally, to find McCain so completely horrible in the way she acts towards everyone on this show and have to agree with some of the things she says despite that is going to be unbearable.
