There was also the idea that lifting weights was bad because having muscular arms would make you look masculine.

It's interesting you should say this.  A few years ago I was watching a Doris Day movie (I think it was Love Me or Leave Me, from 1955), and in one scene where she was wearing a sleeveless dress I happened to notice that her arms were very sculpted (not muscular, but not just thin, either). I was surprised, and impressed as well, that she was showing them off, because while the majority of female stars then were thin, they weren't fit, because of the reason you mentioned.

She was also a fabulous dancer, so that would probably explain the "toned" arms.

Always loved Doris!

When I was growing up, the only old movies I liked to watch on tv (besides The Wizard of Oz, of course, when we had to wait a whole year to be able to see it again) were Debbie Reynolds and Doris Day movies, for some reason.  Doris Day also had a tv series in the 70's that I remember watching.

But the Jack Lalane days as well.

I had completely forgotten about him.  He pretty much had the corner on promoting fitness all to himself back then.

I noticed that the ladies got to talk about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle today without being interrupted by someone saying "I'm American, I hate the royal family" and bringing it all back to her.

That was my first thought when they started talking about.  It was another reason to be thankful.

This thought just popped into my head when I was writing a post in Meghan's thread where I mentioned Jed.  You know how Whoopie was going on and on and on about how she didn't know Jed had had her baby, and then she kind of changed it to she forgot about it and that's why it hadn't been announced on the show (the baby's almost two months old).

I wonder if this was purposely done when Meghan wasn't there since everybody would be saying nice things about Jed, and Meghan would feel uncomfortable, for various reasons, and they finally did remember to do it on a day when she was gone.

Days without Meghan at the table are so nice!

Maybe tomorrow  they can even mention a child related topic without someone screaming that she has nothing to say about it.

I take issue with equating the term "Skinny bitch" with "Fat pig" . While neither is nice, skinny people have nowhere near the stigma of the overweight.

This too.

Yay for YNB! I always enjoy her and particularly loved how she read Melania a while back. She’s the perfect fit for a talk show host because she’s intelligent, opinionated, strong, doesn’t have a Pollyanna attitude, and still a good, decent human being.

Yvette Nicole Brown announced on Facebook that she'll be co-hosting on The View tomorrow!!!  Love her, but I'm guessing Ana won't be there.

I hope Ana is there and Whoopi takes off like she usually does on fridays.

I really enjoyed todays episode. Didn't listen to the Michael B Jordan segment so my viewing was Meghunless. When they started talking about the lasagna again, in my head I was like "nnnnoooooo" but it was a fun filler segment.

Being ridiculed for being skinny (which does happen. I was once called an anorexic bitch) is just as hurtful as being ridiculed for being heavy.  Joy may use the term skinny bitch in a joking way but a lot of people say it to be mean.  The topic was Lizzo and Jillian Michaels's body shaming her. I totally agreed with Joy about applauding Lizzo for being comfortable in her own skin. But let's not forget Joy sat next to Star Jones for several years who had health problems because of  her weight.  It's up to each person to decide how they want to live.  It bothered me she was so dismissive of exercise.

I'm sorry, but so what? Jedifoxbot is no longer on this show; is not a co-host of this show. So why should they mention she had her baby? Or anything about her? I certainly don't give any shits.

I guess I'll be alone in not liking it. If YNB is on, then that means Ana is most likely not going to be in today. I'd rather have Ana over YNB.

They spoke about how having a child changes you and no one said, "Well I can't comment because I don't have children."

I recorded this episode once I saw YNB was co hosting. No Meghan. Now that I know Ana is there, yay!!!

Meghan ruined this show, I still read y'all's posts. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh, my nerves.  I have to change the channel when they discuss the Royals.  Lifelong royal watcher here.  Meghan is not a princess, nor is Kate for that matter.  And the way they pronounce Buckingham Palace as Bucking-ham.  Urgh.  I take it all way too seriously and can't take the glib cracks about it all.  I know a lot of people do not care one iota about any of this and that is totally okay and I get it, but if the ladies are going to spend a bunch of time "discussing" it I hate that they do it in such a way that just mocks them all and makes a joke about it all.  I actually would take an "I don't care at all" from Meghan over a  bunch of mean, bad jokes from the rest of them.

I think Meghan wants to be queen, that  sure wasn’t going to happen in England.    At least she’ll be able to get closer in Canada.  No competition.  She’ll be the one people fawn over.   I also don’t expect her to be with Harry forever🤪

Joy annoyed me by insinuating that Harry isn't Charles' kid. That was in poor taste.

Especially since he's a dead ringer for his grandpa. He looks JUST like Prince Phillip did at his age. But what else can you expect from these women? Twat aside, all they do is gossip and when it's anything except politics and law, they assume and make shit up.

Unfortunately I grew up with parents like Sunny's. They didn't say anything to me other than to save sex for marriage, which - shocker - I didn't wait until marriage. It's funny, in my early 20s when I finally developed an actual relationship with my mom, she revealed to me that she didn't even wait until marriage, to which I told her I wish she would've talked to me about this stuff when I needed it most.

I haven’t watched today’s episode yet, but I feel like I’m constantly hearing about the royals now. I wish them the best, but I don’t care to hear about them on every show, at work, etc. It’s just not that interesting to me. I personally enjoy politics, entertainment gossip about music artists I listen to and actors/reality stars I watch on film/TV, life and love topics regular women can relate to, etc. I don’t get this obsession over royalty.

Canadian here to tell you that there is no chance of Meghan Markle ever becoming our "Canadian Queen," lol.  And I'm not sure how many of us will be fawning over her.

Oh, I totally get it.  Maybe it's because I am Canadian and part of the British Commonwealth.  And I come by it naturally because of my Mom.

As someone who’s always been skinny, I have to agree with this.  Sure I’ve been teased about being skinny but it’s always been clear to me that it’s done out of envy and without malice.  It bothers me more when people look at pictures of skinny people and assume they must have an eating disorder.  Some may, but some of us also are just lucky and you can’t tell by looking at someone which it is.

I think I'm in the minority, but today's episode wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Too much crosstalk, not because of arguments, but just because everyone is talking over each other. I didn't like Joy's question regarding Harry's 'real' dad.

Yesterday was better.

Also, I don't get the flu shot. Not for anti vax issues (I just got a few shots recently for something else) but whenever I got it I ended up with a horrible flu. It may be a myth, but It keeps happening for me.

I was on the James Hewitt bandwagon until my research indicated that dates of affair & Harry's birth didn't match up.  So there's that ...

I’m so glad the ladies discussed the bachelor living with his parents.  Although I don’t watch the show, I’ve read about his living situation on social media. I’m always surprised when so much is made of this topic. I acknowledge that being a Senior gives me a different perspective...but noting how expensive daycare is and how many parents have the heartbreaking need to hand over their newborn to strangers.  And, as the population ages, families need to hand over their aging parents/spouses to strangers to care for... we are missing something. Multi generational relationships and living communities can change lives.

I was sitting right beside you on that James Hewitt train (for years), until all those photos of a young Philip came out that showed the shocking resemblance that @GHScorpiosRule referred to above.

I think because this grouping isn't together every day, they're not as in sync as they were yesterday in regard to when to talk (or maybe Whoopie being there kept them in line).  I also think they're all still so happy they can talk about anything without Meghan adding in her 2 cents of negativity that they just can't restrain themselves from interrupting.

The rumor that Prince Harry isn't Prince Charles' son started while Diana was still alive and was well-known.  Joy was definitely not the first person to speculate about it.  It probably took hold because people wondered where Harry's red hair came from, and there was James Hewitt, with red hair.  But there is also red hair on Diana's side of the family.

Really, Joy?  Love, Actually is a great movie for kids?  It’s rated R.

Lol!  Did she really say this?!  This is one of my favourite movies, I love it, but I would have a very awkward and uncomfortable time watching the scenes with the couple who met as body doubles filming an adult movie together.  I am actually laughing at the thought of her sitting down with her grandson and getting to those scenes.  Too funny.

I've been very thin and I've had complete strangers say things to me about my weight. Once standing in line to check out some woman said to me "I thought you would buy Skinny Cow ( a low fat brand).  I sometimes shopped in the girls section because the pants would fit me. One woman asked me how old my daughter was when she saw the pants I was buying. When I said the pants are for me she looked at me with disgust.

My point is commenting on person's weight whether they are thin or heavy is wrong.

On an unrelated observation Abby looks pregnant.
I mentioned yesterday I was thin all my life until 50. In middle school I ate big tablets called .”weight  on “ and drank disgusting can drinks trying to put on weight in order to look like everyone else.  I didn’t wear shorts because you could ride a horse thru my legs and didn’t wear sleeveless tops. Everyone felt comfortable giving their opinion on what I should eat. Ever try to eat when not hungry?   Beautiful  stars were Sophia Loren etc.  I hated gym class would cut anytime I could . Different times.   I don’t think it’s the fact I like Joy but I don’t believe it came from a mean place.  The pendulum will swing in the other direction.
The clip of the resident in the WH bad mouthing Nancy, now that was offensive and personal and the clowns whooping it up behind him were morons. They cut that from the clip.
The cross over talking was at its worst today but not mean spirited like Megahorn just as difficult to watch.

Is Meghan holding a sit-out, hoping they'll beg her to come back?

(I'm sure if she is back on Monday she'll say to the audience, "I wasn't absent for the reason you think!)

I just watched the show.

Joy did NOT say Love Actually was a good movie for kids.

She said they ... family including grandson....were watching it because it was supposed to be a good holiday movie. When the porn scene came over they all scrambled for the remote to change to channel.

They were talking about when they were first told about sex, and Joy was pointing out that it's hard to get away from sex related stuff on tv today, so kids know more earlier.  Not that it is a good thing.

Joy was laughing and making jokes per usual so I can see the misunderstanding.

Love Ana, Yvette, Joy, and even Abby today.

I TOTALLY LOVE that they are talking about  topics that Megaphone shrieks her disdain..royals, or faux embarrassment....sex, or again not relevant so not important to Me-Again....kids,etc.....

Great show.
