I can do without the murder and mayhem episodes.  If I wanted that kind of program, I'd be watching Investigation Discovery or whatever.

And half the time, the shows on OWN are repeats of these programs for cases that are so old, they're irrelevant without an update, which we never get.

One more Drew Peterson episode.....  honestly, why?  Who cares anymore?  He's serving his time, drop it.  No one cares.

I only saw about half of the Predator Hunter episode because they cut in with some local breaking news, but from what I did see, Phil was making the hunters look like thugs.  I don't know if he continued with that attitude through the whole show and what spin will happen in the second part tomorrow, but I see 90% of these guys as heroes.

I've watched a bunch of sting videos on Youtube and when you hear what grown men say they want to do to minors as young as nine years old, then drive hours to meet what they think are kids is scary and depressing, so I want them shamed and exposed if the police force is not up to the task.   These hunters are unpaid saviors.  /rant over/

12/16: Our 11-Month-Old Died, and I'm Being Blamed

Jaclin's 11-month-old daughter accidentally suffocated while sleeping in the same bed with Jaclin and her boyfriend 10 years ago; the parents blame each other, and the mother says she has become a "ticking time bomb."

12/17: Breakup, Breakdown

Fifteen-year-old Elena has been disobedient, grouchy and mean since her boyfriend broke up with her, and she has quit school to avoid seeing him; Randy says he was never Latonya's boyfriend -- he just made her think he was.

12/18: From Army Specialist to Mooching Burnout Brother

Parents say their 32-year-old son, Alex, is lazy, unemployable, angry, and abuses alcohol and marijuana; after an explosive altercation that ended with Alex assaulting both parents, his mom kicked him out of her house but continues to pay his rent.

12/19: CPS Investigated Me, so I Kicked My Mother Out

Daughter and son-in-law kick out 70-year-old grandmother Liz after she reports them to Child Protective Services; Liz says that, as a result of her daughter's actions, she is homeless and living in her car.

12/20: The Search for Missing Grandma

Tyler's grandmother was a mystery to him after having walked out of his father's life when he was just a toddler; Troy Dunn ("The Locator") reunites him with family members he didn't even know existed.

Why is Dr. Phil so obsessed with these "went-froms"? It's always either a promiscuous drug-addicted daughter or a drug-addicted son with anger issues.

I must have missed that.  But when I heard him say "I'm not an attorney" I finished the sentence with "but I am a forensic psychologist."  But he didn't say it.  Now what do I do?  I'm not sure I can recover from it.

I'd much rather this than re-hash crime stories.  Friday on OWN two full hours re-hashing Jon Benet.  Sorry, but I just don't care.

Just watched the one about the teenage girl murdered by her friend in Alaska. How many times/ways did Phil ask her father how he felt . What is the point of that? How did you feel when you first heard? How did you feel the next day? How do you feel now? I felt so bad for that poor man.

I watched the show last night about the woman and her husband whose 11-month old who died while they were co-sleeping in a leaky air mattress.  I was feeling so sorry for them until I found out that it was 10 YEARS AGO (and yes I realize that grief can last a long time)!  I think Mom is working this tragedy for all she can - up to going on a reality show where she went into prison.  She was also crying about not having a marker for her daughter's mausoleum - did she not make any money off the reality show?  Oh, and she and her husband are estranged, but they managed to produce two more children in the meantime?  Just a really weird show.

I refuse to watch out of control teen/young adult shows. It’s all about blaming the mother and Phil no longer tries to really help or understand the family. He rushes through most of these stories now so he can advertise Robin or some other product.

I watched it and spent the first 15 minutes trying to figure out who the woman reminded me of of or where I'd seen her before then I realized she was in "60 Days In" the prison show, before they even mentioned it. Jaclin was a nut job on that show, and she was on Dr. Phil too. I am not uncaring - the loss of a child is more than I can possibly comprehend and such a tragedy, but this "couple" goes ahead, has 2 more kids, she's out and about doing who knows what and he's had affairs -- a trainwreck. Even in "60 Days In" I wanted to smack the smug look off her face and her midwest (I think) accent made my ears bleed. Despite what happened to her child, she has not endeared herself to me. Or to many viewers. I feel like she's milking her tragedy for her 15 minutes of fame.

Wow!   There's an OWN rerun of a two part (this is the second) of Kay the catfish victim, who has sent over $200k, to her boyfriend in the UK.      This woman shows every emotion, tells everyone to shut up when her 'boyfriend' is shown to be fake.   This 'victim' is exactly what the other Catfish targets really are inside, in my opinion.     She's nasty, lashes out, and will never believe her romantic partner is a fraud.   I bet she left the studio and sent him money.    Kay actually has a lot of deposits from strangers into her bank account, that she sends on to her overseas boyfriend.    Money laundering charges are in her future.    The sort-of-daughter to Kaye says, 'she's sending late grandpa's money to this scammer', but most of it isn't her money, it's other victims.        Kaye claims she believes another victim of the same scammer (different name, same borrowed picture of another man), but I bet she's still sending money to him..

I was reading a news story today about a woman who embezzled $4 million from her employer to send to her Catfish who claimed he lived in the next county (but was traveling a lot). This was after she send the catfish $250,000 of her own money, including wiping out her IRA. This made me think of Dr. Phil and his catfishes. The 59-year-old woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison. What really surprised me is they traced the catfish to China, not Nigeria. The didn't catch the catfish but did charge some middlemen, including one in New York who kept $400,000 of the over $1 million that passed through his business to China.

Maybe Dr. Phil will follow up on this.  I hope the woman doesn't have a spoiled brat snowflake teen or a worthless adult son living in the basement that will be featured the last 15 minutes.

I highly doubt there's going to be a "happily-ever-after" from the family on today's show; it was probably just for show since the kids ended up being backstage.

I also was annoyed that the daughter kept calling her mother "Liz" and Dr. Phil didn't say a word (either he allows his own kids to do the same thing or he didn't think Liz deserved the respect).

Both Liz and Jeanine wanted a lot in exchange for very little. It is unreasonable to expect Liz to clean the entire house help and look after four kids while paying $650 a month. I do believe the house was a complete mess and the children were out of control. Liz most likely did a lot of it until she realized that the others were not going to lift a finger.

Liz stupidly called the police because Jeanine had not taught her kids not to take things that did not belong to them and to mind their grandmother. Jeanine strikes me as someone  who doesn’t do much of anything. Liz is no prize either.

Haven't watched for a while because all the topics are about murder or "beautiful but  addicted daughter" or "angry violent son". Since today was about grandma calling CPS I wanted to see what it was all about. Clearly, mom and daughter have had longstanding issues. I am still unclear as to how mom got into the situation she is in, homeless and on SS to rely on. I suspect there are other issues. While I give props to daughter for taking mom in, I think charging 650 bucks a month, plus cleaning duty was a bit steep. And I hav eno doubt that the house was a complete pigsty. Moving in was probably not a great idea. If mom is low income, there are options for her other than living in her car. I was hoping that Dr. Shill would have spent more time talking to  her about options, rather than suggesting a homeless shelter or a job (again, I think something was not right with mom). Something tells me that daughter has no intention of making things right with her mom. Maybe she should have taken part of the $650 mom gave her each month and hired a cleaning service.

Plastica looked downright inhuman as she was robotically walking off set at the end.

Was watching the current season repeat on OWN this morning.  This was the one that ended with him showing all the memes about 'send them to the ranch', which, to be honest, was truly funny.  He continued to talk about all the other places he sends kids to and blah, blah, blah, but what really struck me was his statement as to how he's spent 30 million dollars in getting after-show care for his guests.

Thirty.  Million.  Dollars.  over 18 seasons.

That, to me, is incredible.  If I thought he'd help 10% of the guests he spent the money on, I'd be thrilled, but since they rarely do 'where are they now' shows, we have no idea if he would've done better donating that 30 million to mental health service charities for people who actually want and need the help.  It's a real shame they don't share the magnitude of their success with this statement.

Hmmm.   Perhaps he is counting his time, his staff's time, the doctors (and doctor on demand), the advertising time he gives to the places volunteering to take them, etc.   But not in actual green money in addition to all the other.

The first five episodes of 2020 include a baby beater, a psychotic tween and yet another homeless and mentally ill "went-from".

Quote

1/6: My Wife Tricked Me Into Getting a Divorce

Doug blames his former steroid addiction for causing him to have an affair with an 18-year-old cheerleader; Amy says Doug was always an abusive husband, and he is using their children to manipulate her and pressure her to reconcile.

1/7: Battered and Bruised: My Grandson Nearly Killed His Baby

Emma says her grandson beat his then-1-month-old daughter, who suffered multiple life-threatening injuries, and she is still concerned for the child's well-being because her daughter adopted her and allows her grandson to have contact with her.

1/8: Mom Went From Nursing Assistant to Homeless & Sleeping in Her Car

Homeless Tina says no one has been able to meet her halfway and help her get better; her son and daughter say she is spiraling out of control, acting violently toward law enforcement and refusing any type of treatment.

1/9: I Need to Walk 100K Steps a Day

Liz says she spends 11 to 13 hours every day jogging around her coffee table until she reaches the equivalent of 50 miles on her activity tracker; musical artist Oli London undergoes 15 procedures to look like Jimin from the K-pop group BTS.

1/10: Terrorized by My 10-Year-Old

Alisha says her 10-year-old son is pushing his family to their limits of tolerance as they live in fear of his next violent outburst; his siblings have to barricade themselves in their rooms at night, and she fears he will someday end someone's life.

Doug, the husband on today’s show, really gave me the creeps. I can’t imagine wanting to spend five minutes with him, much less living with him AFTER divorcing him. I feel sorry for the children. Amy needs to take them and run far, far away from him.

What was that opening of the show today (which was the case of a man who abused his month old infant)?  We get a lot of backstage footage, showing the crew talking about closeups, cameras, focus on the people who work the controls, with the song "Hold Your Head Up" playing in the background.  Then, shots of the audience getting seated, and a voice announces "and heeeere's Robin McGraw" and we see Skeletor walking to her usual seat on the aisle.  We end with the camera following Phil's back as he makes his way to the stage.

Is he now rockstar Phil, coming out to a pumping soundtrack?  Has this been happening long and I just haven't been tuning in regularly enough?

WTF with the baby beater and the weak o mother/grandmother????? Did they ever explain where the little girl’s birth mother (or her maternal grandparents/family) went??  HOW. THE. FUCK. did that poor little girl end up adopted by her paternal grandmother?  That woman has obviously enabled her son’s behavior for years, and she stated several times she won’t “abandon” her son, no matter what.  He has restraining orders all over the place for what he did to his infant.  If Mommy is always going to welcome her unstable, brain damaged, emotionally stunted offspring into her world, what happens to the little girl?  How can the authorities consider parole with all of his issues? That little girl won’t have a chance if she has to ever encounter that psycho.

Ya'll beat me to posting about this.  I really don't understand why, except to prove to us it does indeed take a village (I hate that term) to get a mandated reporter to his assignment for the day.  All that makeup (I wonder if it is Robin's brand).  And someone even puts his coat on for him???

Hopefully a fellow inmate will take care of baby beater before he is paroled or his time is served.  Proud of his grandma for kicking him to the curb.  Sad that the courts allowed mama to adopt the child.  I wonder if they even interviewed her or did a background check on her piece of scum son.

There is an older WE rerun of a Canadian woman and her Nigerian husband.   Her adult kids think the 'husband' is a scammer, and they are so right.   This case is different, since she actually went to Nigeria, and met his family (who knows if they were or not), and had a 'marriage' ceremony that was a total crock.      The woman is no victim, excuses everything that Dr. Phil proves is phony, including the marriage certificate isn't recorded at the vital statistics bureau there, everything is phony, and she refuses to believe she's being scammed.     When the Canadian government won't even let the man in the country for a visit.   The scammer has five passports, varying name spelling, birthdates vary, and claims to be a professional athlete.   The adult son has shown that the scammer has no record of ever playing on any kind of team.

The 'victim' is a fool, and doesn't believe a thing that anyone has shown her is phony.     The adult children think the man is after their mother's $2 million fortune.   The woman also paid money for the scammer's medical bills, but the bills and medical reports are all phony.

This woman will never stop sending money to her 'husband'.      I hope she has a fall back plan for when every penny she has is gone, because that's going to happen.    If they were so in love, why couldn't she move to Nigeria until the man could move to Canada?

I've watched many episodes of the show with the catfish/love scams, and am always amazed how dense some of these victims are.  This woman sounds beyond saving - you can only argue with a brick wall for so long and this woman sounds THICK.  I would write her off and tell her hasta la vista and don't call me after you're broke.  If she wants to continue to be deluded and "in love", have at it.

I'm assuming that the woman's kids are worried but the cynic in me suspects that her children are also looking to keep her money out of the scammers hands and want to make sure there will be funds left for them in mom's will.  Sounds harsh, but I've watched a lot of true crime shows and see what folks get up to when money is involved.

Phil’s show is getting shorter and shorter. Between the cosmetics commercials, Dr. Frieda, Dr. Sophie, PNP Center, Robin’s crap, the Instagrams of Phil and and the behind the scenes crap, this show is actually only 12 minutes long. But that’s okay. It’s not very interesting anymore anyway.

Next week is mostly a "true story" week, with Dr. Phil's latest obsession mixed in:

Quote

1/13: Inside a Religious Reform School: Survivors of Hephzibah House

Kalie, Susan, and Gabby raise awareness about a Christian boarding school where they say they were abused; Lucinda, another former student, defends the work she says pastor Ronald Williams has done; the founder's son Ben speaks out.

1/14: Former Students of Hephzibah House Speak Out

Kalie, Susan and Gabby want to shut down a Christian boarding school they were made to attend as teens, claiming the girls there are at great risk; Lucinda says it was a safe haven for her and many others; a former volunteer staff member weighs in.

1/15: Failure of Justice? Brutal Murders, Claims of Wrongful Conviction

Jens Soering confessed to the murders of his girlfriend's parents, Derek and Nancy Haysom, in 1985, then recanted; after 33 years behind bars, the Commonwealth of Virginia granted him parole; he tells Dr. Phil what happened; Rodney Reed.

1/16: My Partying Sister Needs a Motherhood Master Class -- Now

Nick says his 41-year-old sister, Jennifer, is a bad parent who prioritizes partying over parenting her 13-year-old daughter, resulting in a long list of worrying behaviors from the girl, including violence and self-harm.

1/17: From Housewife to Sex Offender

In May 2012, Mistie, a mom and housewife, made national headlines when she was arrested and convicted of having a sexual relationship with her underage, biological son, whom she did not raise; now out of prison, Mistie tells Dr. Phil her story.

After seeing this kid and his mother, I can understand why you’re glad you never had children. However, I can assure you that us folks that have had children are enormously glad that we did. Our kids are successful, loving kids and parents who have given us wonderful grandsons. So please don’t judge all kids and all parents by the whackos on Dr. Shill.

I hope some of the parents of the former students are on the show tomorrow.
