He's going to spend two days listening to the Jared Fogle tapes? I accidentally heard the 30 second preview for those shows yesterday and I've been a little nauseated ever since. I rarely watch Phil anymore, although I agree that he can be good at cutting through the BS, but it's this sort of obvious, salacious exploitation that made me quit watching him.

The guy on today, who gave $1.5mil to his Mexican mistress...he seemed so stupid. Like, beyond over-the-top unintelligent. I felt bad for his children if only because his genes are so terrible. The doctor is telling him storing a lung for three months is impossible and the guy is like "I don't believe it! She told me she did!" I don't think he is crazy or an asshole, he is just dumber than a brick.

The man on today's show had such a calm demeanor, lack of affect and no emotional reaction to anything his wife, children and Phil had to say. I really couldn't get a grip on what his problem is-he wouldn't acknowledge that the doctor was right about a kidney not being viable after 6 hours outside the body. Does he have Alzheimer's? Is he delusional? Was he so seduced by sex with this Josefina that he can't think straight? Anyone in his right mind would know that this was complete BS. So I guess the answer is that he isn't in his right mind but thankfully, he agreed to go for "testing and diagnosis". He won't believe that either, IMO. I feel very sad for that family-he's ruined them financially and emotionally. His poor wife breaks my heart.

I'm so sorry for the family and I don't know what I would have done if I were in this situation.  Fortunately (or unfortunately), I don't have the money that these daughters have so I wouldn't be out of a lot.

The father hadn't heard from Josephina in 4 years and he fell into the scam just like that?  Most men I know aren't that emotionally involved because of a 3 month affair. 

 

It seems like it's a little late to take over conservatorship of the father.  What does he have to watch over?  If one takes over the conservatorship, will that person be responsible for the father's debts?

Phil was correct is sending him to Dallas, he really needed this!.  I know that is his 'go to cure'  but he did say this guy was delusional and he usually reserves diagnosing anyone but he did.  Good call.  The depth of his delusion was shocking. 

 

I would love to hear that his wife and girls got donations for their future on Phil's site.  If I had extra money I would donate.  THIS is something I feel passionate about.  Many give money to cancer or other causes that are top heavy and support prime time advertising slots, CEOs and hundreds of employees.  It is impossible to find out the percentage of money that actually goes to the cause itself.  Oh, you can find figures but they are generated by the charity itself.  I feel deeply for these women.  The wife has to get a job and she is clearly 70+ and move to a tiny apt that a minimum wage will barely support.  All for this sick fuck who gave a over a million $$ to a scammer.  ARRRRRRGGG!

The (adoptive)  mom who wanted to take custody of the grandchild as soon as it was born. Both the dad & mom were Native American. I know Dr. Phil has had one or two other couples on where child custody issues were the domain of the Tribal Court. Did he mention this at all or did he just try to scare the bio-parents with talk of how CPS can take their child because they are poor and live in an impoverished area?

I thought he handled that situation well.  I do think she will stay with her husband because she is weak and likely to obey a strong authority. I think he really got through to her.   Her lover will drink and get forceful and scare her. 

 

 Now her sexless marriage needs major work.  Will her husband see what he has to do to step it up?  Therapy is a joke in so many cases. I am retired from the field so I know very well that a "good" therapist is not easy to find.   Phil may be connected to many experts but finding a therapist for them in random cities.  Nope.

I agree, Arynm, a law suit could result.   I would have pushed for the FBI to get to Jared quickly.  She could have done so much. Did she go to the DA?  Did she tell every one in authority that this very active predator was molesting as they hunted down what I assume must have been a ring of people making and selling child porn.  

 

I suppose when something is in the hands of the FBI, no one else can touch it.

Even with all the language bleeped out, it was stomach-churning. When I first heard of Jared's arrest I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but these tapes leave no room for that. It makes me doubt what I think of pretty much every person I see in the media. You just really NEVER know a person . . . I can't imagine the toll it took on this woman, living with the knowledge for so long and having to take such a personal role in all of it. It sounds like a nightmare. Her stomach must have dropped every time she saw a call from him on her phone.

I'm disgusted by the woman's claim that she was 'following journalistic instinct' while she should have called her state's abuse hotline. Those hotlines are there for us to call, whether we have proof or just an inkling that someone is endangering the life of a child/children. If a report turns out to be false -- there's not much harm done, as calls (details of the person in question and of the caller) aren't publicized and anonymity (of the caller) is an option. Keeping a child safe is more important than any anxiety one might have about making the call.

 

To not call and report a suspicion or a sure-thing -- I don't know how someone could live with themselves....listening to that sickening garbage over a period of time, all while children's lives were continuing to be obliterated by this evil monster. Journalism be damned! Children's lives and well-being trump any of that, and the authorities would have been well-equipped to handle taping phone calls, a honey trap, tapping into his activities, etc. So sick.

I couldn't make it through the second Jared episode. Was it really necessary to play all of that disgusting shit? I got the picture from the first couple of seconds. I didn't watch Dr. Phil's Jared episodes, but the clips that were played in the commercials were released previously. I think I heard clips from about 7 or so recordings on a tabloid site back when he signed the plea agreement. I had a poor opinion of her for selling them**, and the FBI was saying something like the tapes from her were only a small part of the investigation, which made me question her version of the story.

 

I can't image she enjoyed it or anything, but at the same time he went to jail for the underage teen prostitutes the FBI was able to find, and that was tracked down separately from her tapes. If I recall, she had him explaining how the Craigslist ads worked, but didn't give the info for the FBI to find the specific girls, and they ended up getting it from a woman who was arrested for the crimes and gave info on several of her clients, and the girls told about other girls.

 

Him saying, "I like having sex with kids" wouldn't be an arrestable offense on its own, I wouldn't think, so if the FBI had her continue recording these conversations when it wasn't helping their investigation, they are asses.

 

**The tabloid stated they came from her as opposed to them coming from a request from the FBI. There was a long discussion in the comments about how she would be allowed to retain possession, if they were for the FBI investigation, so it's hard for me to know what the truth was, and since it was a tabloid getting page hits, they weren't about to clarify. I also don't remember which tabloid to try and find it again.

Even with a severe mental illness or because of it, Jewel/Amber made appallingly poor choices.  Picking some guy whom she met in a chat room as her psychologist was a horrible choice.  The fact that he allowed her to stay in his home showed his lack of ethics.  Then abetting her distorted fantasy by pouring drain cleaner on her eyes...well, he is a first rate, lowlife piece of shit.  This psychologist was the mental health equivalent of going to Tijuana for plastic surgery.  What in the fuck was she thinking?  Sometimes my mind reels when I hear about a fucked-up story like this.

Was watching the OWN sequence of Phil's shows today.  Two of the episodes had to do with the Great Fat Debate.  One of the guests on the dais was the comedian John Pinette, whose shtick was being a big guy.  

 

They didn't bother to note at the end of the program that John died in a hotel room in Pittsburgh back in 2014.  According to the article, he died of natural causes, while suffering from heart and liver disease, attributed to his weight.  This was a sad end to the story that even now we are failing to acknowledge.

At just about the same time, comedienne Erica Watson was written up for a significant weight loss she undertook.  So for all her dialogue in the show about acceptance, she actually took steps to not be overweight, for which she should be supported and applauded.

This is my problem with the use of these older shows in reruns.  Same thing when they re-show the episodes having to do with the Lacey Peterson murder - we know the end of the story, but they don't bother in the re-broadcast to present the update.

There was something that really bugged me about the before and after pictures of the weight loss.  For one thing, the pictures looked like they were computer generated.  The before picture, while being very unflattering, had a longer torso than the after picture.  This is like posing a Raggedy Ann doll by a Barbie.  Schill, you can do better than this.

On today's episode (bullied into signing a post-nup)...I am baffled once again how Dr. Phil missed the neon sign flashing above the wife's head. Paraphrasing here...She stated she was afraid of losing her marriage because she was ugly, old, not attractive. She didn't want to go through trying to meet another husband at her age. Her kids didn't get along with him and his kids sounded like assholes. Despite the post-nup and not getting along with her passive aggressive 3rd husband, she still loves him and wants to fight for their marriage to work out.

Phil never addressed this woman's biggest issue and only seemed focused on saving the disasterous marriage.

She needs help to gain self confidence, STAT. If she felt she were worthy of respect/love, she wouldn't stand for that BS. It sounded like she had a job, so she wasn't 100% financially reliant on that man. Having a husband or boyfriend is NOT the ultimate sign of success or happiness for a woman. You need to be an emotionally, financially, psychologically mature person in order to be a valuable partner in a relationship. I do not believe in that rom-com "you complete me" crap. Be a complete person yourself and you won't be afraid of not having someone to support you all the time. Why does she feel she has to get re-married if this relationship fails? If 3 marriages didn't work out, there is no rule that every woman must marry again. In fact, maybe learn from history and try being alone for a while. Learn to like yourself and invest in your own growth.

She totally said that! FFS she handed him the key and his dumbass had no reaction. I was actually thinking, "Well at least she's honest. That should save time." Nope, Nada, Nothing!

Hard to see so much pain I honestly was worried they were going to have to call the paramedics for the uncle on the transgender episode. I do like that they showed how painful and confusing it can be for both sides.

I don't think the Uncle/Dad was close minded I think he was in shock. Didn't they say he just found out a few days before the show. The wife was having a hard time facing the brutal reality of the end of her marriage and everything she believed.

And her once husband, now Sarah I believed seemed to be rushing through the process. I know there was confusion from a young age, but I think the emotions and counseling needs to be dealt with before jumping into sexual encounters. I hope they all get the help they need to make it through this emotionally healthy.

 

Zach was a good-looking guy, and Steph will be a good-looking woman, but there's a LOT that she needs to work on if she thinks it's okay to put her wife through that.

 

The shock of the uncle was crazy to watch, at least the clips I was able to watch. I can't find the full episode yet.
