On the other hand, he did have to use a Safety Pass, and that might be motivation to stay in the game. Daniel is staying on. 1 4 Link to comment

Fukui San September 17, 2019 Share September 17, 2019 For some perspective, even though ANW contestants are 3 for 4 in clearing Stage 4, the overall rate of success for contestants on the Japanese version is about 10%. They went 13 tournaments without an overall winner between Sasuke 4 and Sasuke 17 as 10 attempts on Stage 4 failed before Nagano cleared it on his third try. The ANW winners have made it look automatic. It isn't. Particularly if they change it up to add different components, like Spider Climb into a Rope Climb. 1 2 Link to comment

srpturtle80 September 17, 2019 Share September 17, 2019 Well this episode was fairly anticlimactic since the ANW Facebook page accidentally spoiled the top two finishers earlier today. I obviously knew no one else made it through on stage 3. Knowing that was a big fat bummer and took so much joy out of it for me. 😩 My Ninja boyfriend, Adam Rayl, was SO freaking close. I just wanted to watch him run the course as long as possible lol. I’ve always liked Drew, but he got a little too intense for me this season. At the end I was really pulling for Daniel (who I’ve always liked as well, and who doesn’t seem to take it nearly as seriously). But that wasn’t even close. I believe Daniel will be working on his rope climbing skills in the offseason, lol. Also, part of me is glad Drew won because I feared for his mental health if he did not. Goodbye until next year, show. I will miss you!! 5 Link to comment

ClareWalks September 17, 2019 Share September 17, 2019 Drew did amazing. It was a long time coming for him! I just wish his edit had been a LITTLE more subtle. No doubt, plus there's a huge movement of more local/National Ninja League type events as well. FWIW my kid is 6 and he's DYING to try the ninja gym when he turns 7. Sometimes Drew comes across as a little too intense, but I honestly got a little choked up last night. It was an exciting finale. And I think as much as it sucks for Gil that he timed out, I think that's almost better-like, he knows he failed, full stop, not "finished but .01s too late to win money", which has got to be more painful. 8 Link to comment

The post then disappeared shortly after and was replaced with a similar one which just said something like “who will win?” Someone screwed up big time!! I was really bummed that I saw it. Me from ME September 17, 2019 Share September 17, 2019 I never got the Drew hate until the most recent ANW packages on him, and his day sleeping, night training, girl friend, baby on the way... However, I am glad he won. His performance on stage 3 was simply beautiful. He was fast, accurate and efficient. I also think it was remarkable that he had spent a lot of time planning the climb by studying Geoff and Isaac's past performance. That being said, I wish he would take a break or just quit while he is on top so he can be remembered for an almost perfect season (tire run being an obvious exception.) 4 Link to comment

(I live near Drew’s new CT gym and saw a notice that Joe was making a special appearance there this week). Maybe it's because I knew someone was winning, but Stage 3 did seem way easier than in prior years. Those doors they have to climb around, the body prop, and the upside down rock climbing thing (apologies for not knowing the names of these things) all seemed way more difficult than the obstacles that replaced them this year. And now the rant........I completely HATE that they spoiled it, and I mean HATE. The fans of this show keep watching over MANY seasons where NOBODY wins. The excitement of the entire show is seeing people do the impossible. When they tell me someone does just that without letting me experience the nail biting joy of watching it happen, the experience of the overall show is diminished. They ruined it. By the time Drew hit the buzzer I didn't even care: All of the suspense was gone. What a disappointment. Imagine how you would have felt watching last night if they hadn't been advertising for weeks that someone "WILL WIN A MILLION DOLLARS!" Imaging seeing Drew or Daniel hit that buzzer without knowing they were going to do it. Last night I was looking at my phone. And the fact that it seemed not as hard as prior years made it even more disappointing. I am happy Drew finally won because he is arguably the best Ninja, but I am probably not as excited about someone conquering all 4 stages as I would have been if there was no safety pass, the feeling they dumbed down the course, and the fact that they spoiled it. I was more heartbroken for Joe. So close AGAIN!!!!! And Adam Rayl: Please keep running the course shirtless. That is all. 10 Link to comment

I’m not sure we’ve heard her interviewed in a package before though. And the point about Isaac and his girlfriend is well-taken. Overall I’m happy Drew won. I’ve always liked him, and he’s been the top ninja for a few years - I wouldn’t have liked a fluky winner since then it would be easy to blame the nerfed course. After I read that Joe said that Stage 3 was also easy, I was afraid that there would be too many Stage 3 finishers. Then somebody that normally is not one of the top ninjas could have won just by doing Stage 4 faster. Glad that wasn't the case. Also, if Drew did use some of the money to update his Ninja gym, then it not only benefits him but other Ninjas that train in his gym. 3 Link to comment
Taeolas September 17, 2019 Share September 17, 2019 I notice in some of the crowd scenes, Drew was wearing darkened goggles. I wonder if he was napping during resets and only woke up when certain ninjas ran to show support and what not? I also wonder how much time was really between Drew and Daniel's run; if Drew was really that early, he would have had a lot of time to rest before the climb. Just think, if it wasn't for injuries, we could've had 4 Ninjas on Stage 4. Joe and Flip were both very strong contenders, but injured out. I guess that's why the Weatherman was WWWA'ed so much through the season; they already knew he wouldn't make it to the top. Stage 3 did feel noticeably easier than in past years. I think it's because there wasn't really an endurance aspect to it. Everything was basically a hang or lache swing/jumps obstacles. There weren't any draining obstacles like circuit board or body prop to make you work upside down or to wear you out like there has been in the past. Northwest Passage made a return of sorts, but didn't feel as dangerous as it did in Seattle. I think it's because it was early (so Ninjas had more energy) and it looked like they only had to move the handles one slot each time before they could move to a solid grip. 2 Link to comment
