Because Barb actually has empathy. I remember the behind-the-scenes thing from one reunion where she was chatting with Leah and saying all these encouraging things to her. Jenelle just makes it all about her, causes drama, and pisses people off. Of course they'd all prefer Babs over her!

She also flat out said she was never filming again with her mother "ever again in her life" and since they were filming what the hell does she expect? She really thinks Barb (and the world as a whole) should be kissing her ass even when she treats her like shit every chance she gets. I have to assume she wanted another opportunity to tell Barb to fuck off in front of a crowd and that's why she's upset Barb didn't engage.

I have to agree with Nathan--as much as I hate him for hanging around his girlfriend and continuing to drink or pour glitter on himself or whatever he does rather than getting Kaiser from her-- that she is ultra submissive these days. She shows her ass around her mom and the boyfriends she knew wouldn't come after her, like Kieffer. She was in charge in that relationship, and she knew that he wouldn't really ever hurt her, so she was bolder with him. But I've seen her ultra submissive a few times, and regardless of how much I dislike it, as a prior abuse victim it was chilling. With her mom, she seems like she can't control herself, but around Nathan when he was clearly high/drunk (I'm thinking of the 'I was here the whole time' thing when he claimed to have been in Atlanta but was really hiding in the house, and the 'you're trailer trash' thing), she would sit there and just take it and barely say anything. With David, same thing. That look when he was saying that they don't fight and putting on his lying sunglasses: CHILLING. I felt tingles go down my spine. WTF happened when the cameras weren't there? 

Jenelle is one of those people who thinks being abused means love. 100%. She pushes and pushes and when they act abusively, she knows it's finally time to "shut her mouth." Unfortunately, there are a million things MTV is showcasing via this show that is being aired to plenty of impressionable people. MTV thrives on the dysfunction because they know it gets them ratings, and ratings equals $$$.  They serve these people alcohol at a reunion knowing damn well it only fuels the already-existing anger among the cast members. That is why MTV filled the Real World homes with liquor because they need people to get loose and bring on the action. 

I was in a DV situation. I have no problem hating on Jenelle and ignoring what she is going through because if you remove David from the situation, she is still Jenelle and she herself is an abusive twat to her kids. UBT just adds to the abusive environment. She may not hit them (not really sure about that), but we know she is neglectful, she puts them in harm's way, she is verbally abusive to them and she has an option to leave the situation whereas her children don't have that same option.  There are thousands of DV victims who don't have the resources to leave. In this particular situation, the system has to wait for something to happen since the so-called mother of these children has no fucks to give. As long as she has David by her side, that is all that matters. Fuck her.
