I hate that The View thinks of someone being the "token republican on the panel," instead of just hiring people from different walks of life who are smart and interesting.

Joy isn't on the show to be " the liberal," shes a comic with an interesting life and opinions. Same with everyone else on the show.

It's not a political debate show, it's a talk show about women's views. Or at least it used to be.

Exactly! it was the polarizing Iraqi war coupled with Rosie and Elizabeth having different opinions about it that morphed the show into a political show. It was not that way, as originally conceived by Barbara.

Rosie made Elizabeth relevant by engaging with her when she should have ignored her ignorant ass.

The split screen debacle propelled her into the right's darling..

I'm wondering why Whoopie would want her on the show.

I think Whoopie is like Megan in thinking that she can get Megan to think like her..Megan feels that it is her job to get us to understand and even begin to think like 45's base.

Every time Megan would criticize 45, Whoopie would beam like a proud parent.  It is an ego thing. It is foolish to think that you can get somebody to think like you.

Eventually, Megan will say the wrong thing to Whoopie. She cannot help herself, she always has to be right and have the last word.  Her row with Ana about her job at MSNBC was an example of that. She felt the need to megsplain it to us, as they went to break.

Actually - Whoopi does like to think she is a mentor - to Sherri, to Raven, to Meghan.

I agree it did not work with Sherry. Sherry was constantly saying dumb stuff on the air that could be used by her ex-husband during their custody battle.

Raven was stubborn, incurious about life, close minded and willfully ignorant. This is the same person whp once said that millennials want to know if their president plays candy crush. WTF....

Megan will turn on Whoopie. The fact that she apologized to Jeannine Piro does not bode well for a lasting friendship. Megan is loyal to herself and her tribe, until it is no longer expedient for her to be..

Do we break it to Meghan that joining a show after the season has commenced, and being re-signed for the next season which has not begun yet, is not a definition of "last[ing] more than one season on the show"?

I used to work at a law firm and we had a very dim-witted, if sweet, paralegal. I worked with a guy from Texas, definitely the strong silent type, and one day our dim-but-sweet paralegal did something pretty stupid. I think of my colleague's phraseology often when I think of Meghan:

"Ignorant little thing, ain't she?"

IMO - MM has gone after hating crooked Hillary, dems are socialists, Merry Christmas, snowbirds - all in one week. And now threw in CNN. But she likes Jake Tapper, and appeared on Van Jones show recently. Hates in her words the New York Slime. But likes their crack reporter Maggie Habberman. She is all over the place and never makes a point.

None of this can be like being slightly annoyed with other hosts that let it go and get along with their lives.

If I shove a crayon up my nose, watch Fox news, I MAY be able to understand Meghan. And Megsplaining, lol, that's what the dimwit does.

How Meghan McCain Earned Her Spot at The View After One Unforgettable Year

Goodness, what a total fluff piece. Meghan and Joy are "drinking buddies?" Seems to me  the day they all went for a drink was just a photo op for this article.

It's a total whitewash of every ugly moment from Meghan.

"It's such a difficult job on so many different levels. It's highly political. It's highly nuance. Trump's America makes everything very polarizing," Meghan shared on Watch What Happens Live back in February. "I prep as hard as I do for The View as I did for every news show I've ever been on."

By prep she means regurgitate whatever her husband tells her to.

I don't want get into trouble here, but I think that most people here are surprised by MM's positive press because a forum like this is like a bubble or an echo chamber. When the same opinions keep getting repeated over and over again, they become ingrained in ones brain as an undeniable truth. So when a dissenting view is presented, it is met with disbelief.

Twitter don't like her much either.

I see your new here and this is your first post. Welcome!

I'm a member of other boards and groups where The View is casually discussed at times and have seen what's been said about RBM (Meghan) here mentioned in those places too. So it's not just those of us who post here that are scratching their heads over articles like the one posted above that I also posted in this thread last week.

Generally speaking, I do agree that that can and does happen. However, I would guess the surprise is mainly stemming from the fact that there are other forums where Meghan has received criticism, she receives a lot of criticism via social media and has been featured in a number of negative press both in online articles and in alternative mainstream media throughout the year (and usually stemming from something she's said on the show). I guess all the positive press that's centred around her wrapping up her first year on the show seems contrary to much of the examples of negative press viewers have seen throughout the year. This is just a hunch though, I haven't read any of the articles posted so I don't have an opinion on whether I truly think they're 'positive'.

We watch the same show and see MM 's behavior, hence the similarity, IMHO.

I haven't seen much positivity from MM--except about drinking alcohol, the Kardashians, RHONY, and her father.

What do the other articles say (that I'm missing) when I watch her on the View?  Seriously, I would like to know.  Thank you.

If you have a positive view, go ahead and post it.

All I see is Meghan with a permanent scowl on her face, no sense of humor, who attacks her co-hosts, getting featured in articles depicting her more as feisty and outspoken.

I would be interested in this, also.  Maybe, I'm missing something - she may have some (hidden) sterling qualities.

Meghan’s first time as cohost:

Lying from the start- In this first show, she said that as a young Republican in college, she watched/ admired Elizabeth H on The View.
Meghan did not become a Republican until 2008 (as a gift for her Dad)

Meghan has gained weight since then.  And sucking up to Whoopi from the start.  First Lady of the View?  Kiss my ass Meghan.  That title should be given to Joy.

She is, I am positive, a stress eater. And she's going through a lot of stress (and she is passing some along to me!) In those charts of stressful life events, change in health of family member, getting married, and starting a new job are all high stressors.

I gained 70 lbs through the two years of caring for my mother and after her death (as well as the death of a much-loved pet). I am very sympathetic to people who cope in whatever way they can during extreme stress. Even (sigh) Meghan.

So,  she can't stand up and place her arms up in the correct position to direct the weapon accurately?  Wow, just sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.  Fake set-up picture. Put your guns back under your bed,  moron.

She captioned one of the pics "God's country ".  So God is a fan of guns?

I think ABC hired Abby Huntsman as a fill-in conservative when MM's dad takes a turn for the worse, and she is absent from the show.

Plus, as AH is a "friend" of MM's, Abby can relay personal messages/updates from MM about her Dad, and how SHE is holding up with all the stress, on the air. They will be using AH to keep a line open with MM.

I agree about NOT having political party affiliation being a primary part of the hosts' viewpoints. I am sick of politics and government shenanigans, in general, and I'm not even counting Megs in with that, because she is so stupid that what she says/mis-speaks is a joke and not worthy of serious consideration. Piss poor communicator.

IMO piss poor person.  I used to think Elisabeth saying what about the parents when referring to children who were in danger of losing their CHIP insurance when GWB was president was pretty callous but Meghan is giving her a run for her (mommy's) money.

The news about Sen. McCain's imminent passing makes me wonder if The View hired whatshername, the Meghan clone, as a backup in case Meghan is unable to return promptly. When my mom died nearly two years ago, I was devastated and literally stayed in bed for two months. Knowing how close Meghan is to her father, I wonder if she will be as shattered as I was.
