LOLOLOL no kidding? That place is pretty successful. They're known for fitting women with hard-to-find sizes. They once ran a commercial with a bra that was the size of a car cover. Why she needs to find a man from overseas I'm guessing is because she ran out of options here.

She did a beautiful job fitting me and my scarred cancer body at a cancer fund raiser.  She helped me a lot!  On her TLC tv show, she and her partner donate to women's shelters, church groups etc.  They are a super business.  There is a classic "Double Divas" where they fit a nursing goat for a bra, and another where Mollie fits bras at a nudist colony.  She really is a character.

I actually can see this marriage making it for a good five years.  They seem very well matched on what they want from each other and have zero interest in marrying a best friend / soul mate.  As long as Luis is a faithful boy toy and Molly keeps the lights on they will be happy.  It’s just a shame Molly’s kids are involved.  When your 17 yo daughter realizes how embarrassingly immature your relationship is its time to knock it off.

All of this Sanky Panky is mind blowing to me.  And this might be slightly off topic, but I HAVE to.  This all reminds me of the real life story of Terry MacMillan, author of “How Stella Got Her Groove Back.”  The real life Winston Shakespeare turned out to be a gay sanky.  Maybe we should watch for signs of Luis reading the Spanish edition because you know Molly has the book and movie memorized, but might not be so clear on the true story.  Sad.

OMG, you just killed it for me.  I remember seeing that movie, and there’s that nude shower scene of Tae Diggs, looking all like an Adonis. Every woman in that theatre, regardless of age or ethnicity, gasped a collective, “Oooooooh Dammmmmmmmmn!”,  I stil salivate at the thought of it.

Luis will show us whether or not he’s really a Sanky Panky. Molly’s youngest daughter is just the cutest little thing.  She’s just precious.

Thank you for this!  I just saw "How Stella got her groove back" for the first time recently and all I could think of was Molly and Luis!  All the markers were there for him to be a sanky panky (talking Tay Diggs AND Luis).  Guess we shall see!

There has been mention of Devar and Melanie vs Molly and Luis on one of the other pages.  I would say Melanie handled the whole thing alot better than Molly in regards of introducing her new partner to the kid(s).  Why wouldn't Molly bring the kids down to D.R. if she was so interested in having Luis in her life as a serious partner?  At least they could have met him beforehand and had some interaction.

Yeah, broody, disengaged children are sooooo much better. ;)

I think Kensley was adorable.  She was outgoing and friendly towards Luis during the car ride and tour of the house.   She was well behaved during her Spanish lesson and was trying hard to learn the words.  Then Luis dropped the "I'm your new Daddy" bomb on her and she responded appropriately defiantly to that.

There are comments in the discussion for the 11/12 episode about the "cultural differences" that would make a 24-year-old man think it's okay to make inappropriate comments to the minor daughters of his girlfriend.

These are the same "cultural differences" that would encourage a 24-year-old impoverished bartender in the Dominican Republic to say, "I'm going to marry you" as an opening line to (probably every) unescorted, jewelry-bedecked, middle-aged woman in the bar.  Once in a while, if you throw out some bait, a fish might get reeled in.  It's the fish's fault for not just nibbling and swimming on.

In my personal dictionary regarding this situation, the definition for "cultural differences" is "opportunism."  It'll be interesting to see what Father Molly has to say after seeing this episode.  I'm thinking he will take Luis to school and teach him some new definitions.

ETA:  BTW, if there were ever going to be a movie about Molly and her family, Anthony Hopkins plays Father Molly - right?

I don't know if she didn't take a breath as much as that is what they showed; she was probably edited as if she was non stop. She's probably a bit chatty, from what I've seen, but doubt she's non stop. I don't think I heard her say a word at the picnic dinner. I'm sure she did, but they didn't show it because they didn't need her talking then.

It was interesting to me to watch Molly cringe a bit in the car when Kensley told Luis how to behave without a belt on, as if anyone should be in the car without a belt on. She's been groomed by her 2x? DUI mom, on how to behave when doing something illegal, & she SAID it.

Molly better watch out, but Luis better watch out too. Kensley may need her voice someday, & I hope she keeps it.

No.  Children who don't chatter on incessantly are the best.  That child didn't stop to take a breath from the time Luis arrived at the airport.   I don't need to hear every thought in a 5 year old's head.

Yes, few things are more annoying than a cheerful, friendly child chattering on.  It is right up there with those insufferable birds singing and the sound of of those redundant waves hitting the shore, over and over.  ;)

Ah, the old "it's just children laughing and singing loudly.  It's a happy sound."  Noise is still noise, like crying and shrieking.  You don't get to decide that, because you find that sound pleasant, you get to impose it on other people.

Yes, all sounds are equally unpleasant, whether it is laughter of children, a symphony, the babbling of a brook, a domestic disturbance next door, stray cats mating, or a jackhammer at 7:00 AM.  :)

There is no more joyful sound on earth than a child laughing and singing.  Kensley was excited (and maybe a little anxious) to meet Luis and wanted to welcome him in her childlike way.  I found Kensley to be delightful.  Don't worry though, a few months or years of living with Luis will wipe the smile off her face and there will be no more joy and excited chatter in the Family Molly household. That is my prediction.

Molly is the type of person who I'd get a kick out of if she weren't so incredibly needy, irresponsible, & a negligent mother. Putting her kids in a dangerous situation in their own home for her own selfish (& most definitely, temporary) pleasure totally kills it for me.

She does well professionally, but I wonder what the hell happened to make her create such a crapfest for a personal life.

I could not disagree more--was thinking about this last nite...Melanie spent (and joked about it) her kids college fund to visit Devar several times and then moved him in with her son without them ever meeting!! the difference there is that Hunter is a totally great kid and he was so good natured about it. If hunter wasnt such a good kid it could have been a total disaster. and Im a parent of a "difficult" child, so I know the difference, lol. Melanie and devar are always touted as such a success story and for some reason she just irks me--I 100% beleive if she didnt keep going back and finally paid for him to come over he would have ended up with the first person willing to do that for him. I happen to really like Devar!! Melanie, she just seems so smug about it. blech.

So anyway, Molly's youngest daughter is totally adorable, but I dont care who you are, moving a stranger in with your children is really selfish., jmho.

It's not just her chattering that gets me. I've known talkative children that I really liked. It's the way she talks. It's as if she's been told she's cute and perfect so often that she purposely puts on a show. It's what my family has always referred to as "having the cutesies". My cousin is really bad about making her daughter a performance monkey. Ever since she was old enough to say something cute, she was then made to repeat the cute phrase or behavior for everyone who came in contact with her. And she knew it and she played it up. That's kind of what this little girl reminds me of. It's not the kid's fault that she's annoying. She's a snowflake, I'm sure, so Molly is probably the type of parent who laughs when the child cusses or does something inappropriate, and then tells everyone how funny it was right in front of the kid. I did appreciate that she told Luis he wasn't her father but then she topped it off with, "I don't like you", which I thought was mean. I don't know many children that would say that so boldly to an adult. Seems she thinks she's running the house. And perhaps she is.

I was under the impression that Melanie did take Hunter down to meet Devar on one of her trips.

I agree about the spending the kid's college fund. That's wrong.

I didn't mean to tout Melanie as a "success story".  I just feel that she and Devar handled the whole step parent thing better than Molly and Luis.  At least Devar didn't say "hey, I'm your dad now and sleeping with your mom."

Bless her heart. If her romantic life has been so lacking that a Ritz cracker with a slice of cracker barrel cheddar and a swoosh of Smucker's jam is her longed for moment then I am happy that Luis swept her off of her feet. Gave the girl some romance. Even if it ends up being a shitshow. I don't think that he will fly the coop like Mo. He will probably be bored and entertain himself with food and booze and put on a few pounds. But I don't think that he means her any harm.

Also mentions her DUIs at the end - she made Olivia drive them to the airport presumably because she had lost her license, but Molly drove them to the beach, so she got her license back within that short time frame?

Thanks. That was an entertaining read.  Also tells you about the other couples.  It still remains to be seen if Luis sticks around after he gets his green card.  But, that said, he’s definitely taken with Molly.  The best Mo could do was say Danielle was “acceptable “.  Luis cared enough to buy Molly a proper engagement ring. You never saw Mo behave like that.  Even taking into account being from a Muslim country and being reserved, there was no such excitement over Dinyell.

Not liking the sound of children isn't necessarily a bad thing, it probably just means that you probably would hate family friendly restaurants, parks, family events with kids, etc and should stick to adult-only venues. After having worked with children with developmental delays and behvaioral issues, I personally love the sound of children chattering and giggling, it's natural to them. In a place like a church service, they should probably get a "shush", but otherwise its different strokes for different folks.

Watching Molly and family eating lunch at that upscale Boston Market made me sooooohungry, damn. I could use some rotisserie chicken, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes comfort food. Half the reason I watch this show is for the food, I just love watching good food on TV. However the cracker with cheese and strawberry jam looked gross at the beach picnic. Cute picnic basket though.

As a woman, I remember my hormones drove me to crave certain foods. I’ve got a good 10 years on Molly. Never thought of cheese and strawberry jam together, but I guess it’s the salty and the sweet.  People like Brie with apricot confit or fig jam, and that flavor profile is AWESOME. So maybe, Molly is having the redneck version of it, by improvising. Chocolate with sea salt or hot chili peppers got me through “the change”.

In Texas, a slab of cream cheese with jalapeño and raspberry relish is popular. We Texans love us some hot peppers and find ways to temper them to stop the burn.

Jalapeños make everything better.  No tempering necessary. Bring on the burn.

Lindt makes a dark chocolate bar with chile pepper. You can find them at grocery chains and Walgreens.

I don’t necessarily tone it down for myself.  I get Thai hot when I have a heinous cold or sinus infection.  After 6 months of chemo, I’m slowly working my way back up.  Any hint of spicy food was a skip too the loo ?, my darling.  I’m on maintenance treatment now, so I’m hoping to enjoy my Thai and South Indian cuisine again soon.

She most likely drives on her suspended license all the time. For the airport trip she probably opted to let her daughter drive just in case they are stopped by TSA-airport security while in their vehicle.

Or because the ride was filmed for TV and the network's employees' union contracts forbade them from participating in breaking the law.  The network knows she's revoked.

I suspect you're right, though - she most likely drives all the time when the cameras aren't in the car.

Right, they did not have cameras mounted in the car for the drive to the beach. Although I'm pretty sure they showed her driving away from the house & I definitely saw her getting out of the driver's side at the beach. To me that's documenting illegal behavior, but maybe it's not enough to do anything with.

With things like chicken feet, lechon (looked gross but probably tasted good), and sheep's head, the arguments and even screaming at meals, and the theme of general trashy behavior, it kills my appetite. Or makes me remember trying to eat dinner in front of my Mom every night when she was drunk. It's a unique weight-loss intervention for sure. (P.S. I went to a roast pig barbeque last summer and it was good but we didn't have to look at the head. I know, I'm shallow.)

Every single time the interior of Molly’s house comes on screen, I cringe. Her house is so cluttered and so messy with knickknacks, fake flowers, doilies, cheesy artwork, etc. I have no idea how people can live like that.  How do you dust if you have 1000 things on every shelf???

That's what the Dominican maid gets paid to do.

  • Love 11

And dust the Virgin-Mary-in-a-Birdcage. I have to say, KIN-zlee’s cuteness has worn off for me after watching her on the playground. And was it my imagination, or the lighting, or did Molly’s sneakers go from black to silver and back to black? Finally, does she really think she looks good in those skin tight neon colored Capri leggings?

Did these two knuckleheads not discuss where they each planned to live before getting engaged? Dominican Republic is fine for a 3 day drunken vacation, but why would he think an American businesswoman with kids would have any interest in living there?

And why does he want to move back? He can make 5-10 times as much as a bartender in the USA. He's making no sense. Most definitely.

I think because he is bored.  He’s stuck in a hobunkity town, not allowed to work or drive or go to school until he gets some sort of legal status.  At least in DR, he was near the beach.  He misses the beach, the island breezes, the warmer weather, the food.

If he can't drive that's on him for not having a current Dominican drivers license which would allow him to drive in Georgia for a year.
